CASTLE LIGHTS arrives here seeking a four-timer after scoring decisively over C&D last time and a repeat of that performance could see her add to her winning sequence. Witness The Energy and Sultry Sally H should also be challenging at the line.

A winner at 11-2 at Philadelphia Park over 6f on his latest outing last month, beating John Dutton by 2 1/2l. Takes a slight drop in trip and might find things happening too quickly in this stiffer company.
(3) Mobeer | 3 | Vladimir Diaz | Todd Beattie | Successful twice at 6f. A winner at 15-2 at Penn National over 6f on his latest outing last month, beating Simply Stated by 1 3/4l. Has shown improvement and looks worth a try at this level.

(9) Frank The Bull | 3 | Fredy Peltroche | Michael Sterling | Placed once in four starts. Finished 4 1/2l behind Lastwalktofreedom when fourth of 8 at 9-5fav on his latest outing at Charles Town over 6f last month. Others are preferred.

A winner at Saint-Brieuc before being sent for a spell, IMPERIAL BEJI (8) gave a good account on comeback recently and racing with hind shoes off this time looks to be in with another realistic shout. (2) Cyber Time | 4 | C Habib | L W Goosen | Finished towards the rear dropped back to 1m1½f in a handicap here last month; has won here but largely disappointing since successful in a handicap at Greyville in November; is easing down the weights; others perhaps more persuasive

Arverni King and Exceeder may have their stamina stretched over this distance while Prime Example is one to consider. But ROCKIE REEF gets a firm vote. She has won at this track and sets the form standard based on her most recent effort.

In a very competitive fillies race KARA DIAMOND (3) has the best piece of form on offer of those that have run. She can build on a good second at Compiegne and looks the likely winner. (12) Silvano's Dasher | 4 | K De Melo | B Crawford | Unable to land a blow when ninth of 14 (Greyville) last month; good career strike-rate; dropping in class and rates a likely contender |
This is a pretty evenly matched field but FOREVER MINE could be the one to side with. He appears to have been found a chance to regain the winning thread and can confirm superiority with Silvano's Dasher and Battle Force who were behind him last time. Russian Rock has produced plenty of good efforts, course specialist Captain Fontane needs to be respected, and Royal Victory is respected.

No obvious winner in this event but it is hard to ignore Eric Raffin's partner, JASMIN DU CHATELET (6) who returned to victorious ways at Questembert. If applied, he could well double his money but still faces a challenge from the improving JEREMY D'AS (7) who has taken giant steps since starting to race barefoot. JEUDI DES RACQUES (2) has won two of his last three and even though stepping up in class still looks a player. The serious JOKRIS DES KECHES (11) has not been seen out since November b

(11) Green Empress | 5 | Tsubasa Kamo | Akimasa Ibi | Started $22 and just average when 11th last time here. Others make far more appeal. |
In receipt of a hefty age allowance, unexposed KOLSAI is taken to become the first 3yo since 1994 to win the Diomed. Very few runners from his age group have tackled this race in recent years, so the barren spell is partly due to a lack of attempts, especially realistic ones. The selection is bred to be a Group performer and may well prove up to the task. Highland Avenue has to be feared and Regal Reality also warrants respect but the second choice from a punting angle is Imperial Fighter, who is better than this year's bare efforts suggest.[Steve Boow]

Nice win by JUPE SACREE (4 ) on her chase debut at Dieppe by this promising filly, she can improve from that and looks like the one to beat. JUST A PRINCESS (2) was a good second at this track last month on her chase debut and looks like the biggest danger to the likely favourite. IL N'Y A PAS PHOTO (1) was not as smart as the two already mentioned over hurdles, but put in a solid effort over fences on her last run to warrant plenty of respect. She can be involved. JARRETIERE (8) failed to compl

(1) Moving In | 2 | G Lerena | J J Van Vuuren | Registered first success over this trip (fillies juvenile plate) last month at Turffontein Standside in a competitive contest, getting the job done by 2l
(2) Golden Tatjana | 2 | G Van Niekerk | G S Kotzen | Beaten a short head at 4-1 five weeks ago here over 5½f
(3) Rascova | 2 | K De Melo | G S Kotzen | Fair effort (beaten just under 3l, Kenilworth) in February
(4) Captain's Christy | 2 | S Khumalo | M Dixon | Behind Winter Cloud when third 34 days ago on first attempt in a Grade 3 here (5½f); has won here before
(5) Global Thunder | 2 | M Yeni | C J Lensley | Went close at 16-1 latest when the blinkers were left off at Turffontein Standside in what looked an up-to-scratch fillies juvenile plate; makes limited appeal as tougher task in this company
(6) Troppo Veloce | 2 | R Danielson | A B Fortune | On an upward trajectory; close runner-up sent off 9-2 two weeks ago at Turffontein Standside in what looked a warm handicap; this demands more than last time so others more appealing
(7) Red Hot Rose | 2 | C Habib | M F De Kock | Behind Mrs Geriatrix (Turffontein Standside) latest when only just held (16-1) in what looked an up-to-scratch fillies Grade 2
(8) Elegant Ice | 2 | C Zackey | M N Houdalakis | Ran respectably at 28-10 running in a Grade 3 for the first time in March at Turffontein Standside
(9) Cullinan Blue | 2 | K Matsunyane | B Crawford | Never really threatened when 4l behind Mrs Geriatrix on first attempt in a fillies Grade 2 (Turffontein Standside) over this distance 35 days ago when 11-2 fourth of 11; others appeal more as facing a tougher assignment this time
(10) Winter Cloud | 2 | A Domeyer | C Bass-Robinson | Scored by just under 3l here (5½f) latest with Hot Pearl and Captain's Christy behind in what looked a strong Grade 3; made it a hat-trick last time and seems to be progressing nicely; she should give it a bold bid despite being up in class
(11) Hot Pearl | 2 | S Moodley | W Whitehead | Was on the premises (second, beaten just under 3l) on her Grade 3 debut behind Winter Cloud latest here over 5½f; has winning form at this course; this demands more than last time so others have more pressing claims
(12) Mrs Geriatrix | 2 | R Fourie | S G Tarry | Looking to complete a four-timer and unbeaten with scope for more progress; too good for Red Hot Rose and Cullinan Blue when winning by a head over this distance at Turffontein Standside latest in what looked an up-to-scratch fillies Grade 2; big run looks on the cards despite being up in class |
MRS GERIATRIX is hard to look beyond. She should be able to confirm placings with Red Hot Rose and Cullinan Blue and must have every chance over a distance that suits. Winter Cloud is respected based on course form.
Reserve Judgement was seemingly aided by blinkers when running well at Punchestown in February and will be feared if he runs here instead of at Down Royal last night but the suggestion is BUTO, who took a long time to open his account but did so quite readily over C&D 11 days ago and could quite plausibly build on that success. Jimmy Rabbitte has posted a couple of good recent efforts and can also feature.[Chris Wilson]
Merricourt is capable of playing a part judged on his near miss over C&D last month, especially if the blinkers have a positive effect, while Ahamoment should finish closer to him than he did in that race if enjoying a smoother passage. However, the choice is MONAADHIL who comes into this in decent heart on the AW and there are no doubts over his ability to handle these conditions having won over C&D last summer.[David Bellingham]

(13) Gaucho De Houelle | 7 | K Leblanc | F Leblanc | Reassured at Senonnes a month back but has struggled since and needs to reaffirm
(14) Game Attitude | 7 | G Delaune | G Delaune | Disappointing on the whole so far this term and 3 straight sanctions do nothing to inspire confidence
(15) Fakir Du Chateau | 8 | H Monthule | A Pereira | Totally out of the picture in all three starts this year and can expect to garner no support
(16) Grand Sourire | 7 | E Raffin | G Lizee | Dependable trotter that seldom lets the side down. Leading driver drafted in for the occasion and expected to finish close
(17) Glouglou D'Emi | 7 | B Marie | S T Provoost | No slouch on a good day and consistently gives his best. No chance of winning but with some luck can get a look in |
On the front line and latterly a decent winner at Segre, GAROU LIONNAIS (6) races barefoot again and can double up. He will however encounter resistance from the in-form but capricious GO FAST DE VAINS (7) for whom it is often a case of all-or-nothing. GRAND SOURIRE (16) is a tough individual and with Eric Raffin at the helm can overcome the 25m handicap. GABIN DU MESNIL (11) made the frame in his last two under harness and looks similarly competitive.
Cheeky upstarts such as the King George and Arc have threatened this race's prestige but, for many, Epsom on Derby day will always be racing's green, green grass of home. Auguste Rodin headed the betting two days ago but however strong the general vibes are for him, it's hard to square his depressing Guineas run with being favourite for this race. MILITARY ORDER (nap) showed superior stamina late in the day when beating Waipiro in the Lingfield Derby Trial and this long straight can see him to good effect, as it did with his brother Adayar when he outgalloped his Derby rivals two years ago. The improving Sprewell is a big danger as the quickest ground he has faced so far could well suit him, if anything, while Passenger, unlucky behind The Foxes and White Birch in the Dante, can justify the decision to supplement him. Passenger still needs to show he can settle well enough to cope with the step up in trip, however. The Foxes and White Birch have good runs in them but Arrest and Dubai Mile would have made more appeal with rain about. Of the big outsiders, Adelaide River has a chance of improving on his turf form now that the sun has come out.[Emily Weber]

(3) Guy Gibson | 2 | M Yeni | R R Magner | Was fifth of seven in the Grade 2 S A Nursery (Turffontein Standside, this trip, Grade 2) five weeks ago; form boosted with the second and third winning since; hard enough to fancy given likely stiffer task

(6) The Africa House | 2 | S Khumalo | S G Tarry | Upped to 7f when just denied latest in what looked a warm juvenile plate
(7) Warrior Of Royalty | 2 | R Khathi | N Kotzen | Had something to spare at the finish three months ago (Greyville) when opening his account in what looked an up-to-scratch juvenile plate; this demands more than last time so unlikely to trouble the principals
(8) Egyptian Mau | 2 | C Zackey | M N Houdalakis | Came out on top at the first time of asking by 2l over this distance in March at Turffontein Inside at 2-1; she takes on the boys here; could improve from her debut but will need to given likely stiffer task
(9) Cliffhanger | 2 | B Jacobson | J J Van Vuuren | Goes for a hat-trick; caused an upset when winning Grade 3 at 14-1 (over 5½f here) beating Outlaw King and The Abdicator latest; debut for new trainer; poses a threat despite this step up in class
(10) The Abdicator | 3 | L Mxothwa | B Crawford | Beaten 11l when finishing in the wake of Cliffhanger (over 5½f here) 34 days ago; difficult to build a solid case for him as tougher task in this company
(11) Lucky Lad | 2 | R Fourie | S G Tarry | Looking to complete a four-timer and has looked a good prospect in winning all starts to date; successful by just under 3l in the Grade 2 S A Nursery over this distance at Turffontein Standside (Grade 2) latest, next-time-out winners Jerusalema Rain and Ripple Effect boosted the form; this represents a step up in class but in with big shout |
LUCKY LAD should find this very winnable. He comes into this off the back of a win in the S A Nursery and is taken to confirm the placings after finishing ahead of Guy Gibson latest. Cliffhanger is respected based on course form.
John McConnell's new recruit BODHISATTVA opened his chasing account in an uncompetitive race at Perth last month but he probably still has untapped potential over fences, and his main rival Universal Folly has to shoulder a 7lb penalty for beating just one rival at Uttoxeter on Sunday.[Chris Wilson]

(12) Kassel Allen | 3 | N Gauffenic | H Merienne | 5th on only run so far over 3200m on May 10th at Compiegne. Has work to do to get involved |
SEALOR (2) was a good winner last time at Bordeaux Le Bouscat on May 7th. He can build on that win and looks like the one to side with. FRERE VERT (5) has shown plenty on only two runs to give him a strong chance in this event, he knows this track and will make his rivals work hard for a win. SULTAN PIERJI (4) did well when winning at Fontainebleau on only his second appearance in public in early April. He is the each-way option. RAFFLES HERMES (10) is from a strong stable, his dam was useful ov
Manigordo has to be high on the list having run well since his two wins over C&D last August, but preference is for ABDUCTION (nap) who has performed really well in his last two starts over shorter, having gained all three turf wins last year over this trip. No Nay Nicki looks to be on a favourable mark and could go well, while it will be interesting to see how Home City fares in the market having raced at only Meydan since early last year.[David Bellingham]
Unexposed over fences and a C&D scorer last month, SIR JACK WEST (nap) holds particularly strong claims. Stumps Or Slips, a similar type, is feared most ahead of Fox's Socks and Hermes Le Gris.[Steve Boow]

(2) In Vivo | 5 | A Randon | A Randon | Useful sort that made a solid comeback at Vincennes a fortnight ago. Will have come on for the run and from the front line can give this a good go
(3) Heros De Choisel | 6 | R R Boucault | S G Dupont | Hardy element starting on front line but has not been seen out since February and with shoes on will have little to offer

(7) Illiana Du Clos | 5 | D Lefaucheux | D Lefaucheux | Has not yet achieved the sharpness she showed last season but drops back in class and can start to make progress
(8) Isocrate D'Ela | 5 | C Chenu | C Chenu | Got back in the game last month with a claiming victory at Enghien. Highly unlikely to repeat but can still play a role
(9) Idden Fortune | 5 | A Collette | F Nivard | Blows hot and cold but is obviously in fine condition. Back at a distance she likes and in this category will have a lot to offer
(10) Instinct Saint Bar | 5 | A Wiels | Y Gautier | Superb servant with a remarkable win-rate but is shod following a long layoff and best to wait
(11) Isabella Dimjy | 5 | E Raffin | S Marmion | Simply superb in both codes this season. Back under harness here and the Raffin factor cannot be ignored. Claim
(12) Ideal Dancer | 5 | H Monthule | S Guarato | Excellent sort that has twice completed his mission this term. Unshod all four again and can pull off the three-timer
(13) Heraklion Desbois | 6 | Ph Gendry | Ph Gendry | Reliability not his strong suit but can get in on the action if he reproduces his penultimate performance |
A fine trotter with a strike-rate to envy, IDEAL DANCER (12) has been dynamic since returning to racing barefoot and is expected to pull off the hat-trick. It is unlikely to be all plane sailing though given how well ISABELLA DIMJY (11) has been performing, and returning to the harness code with Raffin in the wagon may prove just the ticket. IDDEN FORTUNE (9) is back at a distance she appreciates and in this company appears to be in with a decent shout. IMPARTIAL (6) will not be far from the act
Dropped back further in class and returned to forecast better ground, PROSPEROUS VOYAGE gets the vote. She sets a very smart standard on her best Group 1 form and this looks her easiest task for some time. Potapova and Roman Mist are taken to fill the next two places and repeat their finishing positions from this race last year.[Steve Boow]
Having appeared to be in good form on AW in April, BLOW YOUR HORN is taken to get off the mark on turf. Daniel Deronda ran well on AW last time and is second choice, ahead of Wannabe Brave.[Ben Hutton]

(1) Princess Calla | 5 | R Fourie | S G Tarry | Third over 5f at Turffontein Standside in the Computaform Sprint was a good effort latest, the fourth boosted the form since; running consistently and has winning form at this course; difficult to oppose
(2) Aunty Lizzy | 4 | G Van Niekerk | L Karriem | Solid career strike-rate; upped to 5f at Greyville last week when last of nine; blinkers been left off; opposable as tougher task in this company
(3) Cold Fact | 4 | D Schwarz | A P Peter | Gained plenty of wins on straight tracks; came out on top by 1½l (at Turffontein Standside over this trip) when Whoa Whoa Whoa and Stiptelik were behind her latest; definite chance despite moving up in class
(4) Stiptelik | 4 | L Mxothwa | B Crawford | Didn't run too badly when out of the frame at Turffontein Standside (beaten just over 3l at 13-2) latest when fourth to the reopposing Cold Fact; easy enough to take on as this is a tougher test
(5) Whoa Whoa Whoa | 4 | K Matsunyane | B Crawford | Went down by 1½l when third (this distance Turffontein Standside, fillies Grade 2) latest, behind the reopposing Cold Fact; a prolific winner during her career
(6) Ameena | 3 | S Moodley | G S Kotzen | Ran well (9-2) beaten a head over C&D five weeks ago; has won previously at this course; chance despite this step up in class
(7) Iphiko | 4 | A Mgudlwa | M F De Kock | Finished fifth but only beaten just under 2l at Kenilworth in January; has won previously at this course; returns from break; with more on her plate only limited appeal
(8) Gimme A Shot | 3 | K De Melo | M/a Azzie | Well beaten in the Empress Club (Turffontein Standside) latest; admirable career strike-rate; won at Vaal Classic five months ago and has a chance
(9) Golden Hostess | 3 | A Domeyer | C Bass-Robinson | Fourth last month but only beaten less than a length (Greyville) upped to 1m; admirable career strike-rate and not far off when third in the fillies Grade 1 Majorca Stakes recently
(10) Desert Miracle | 4 | C Zackey | M F De Kock | Landed the Empress Club 48 days ago and a prolific winner during her career; left punters frustrated after going off favourite four weeks ago (Greyville) |
PRINCESS CALLA has to be the first name on the shortlist. She looks a reliable option and must have every chance over a distance that suits. Cold Fact isn't out of it while Ameena rates a serious contender, and Gimme A Shot should be in the mix despite a bad run last time.
C&D winner MISS LAMB found one too good when odds on for a C&D novice last month but she certainly didn't run badly, and her close second here two starts ago proved she can be very competitive off this mark. Confidence in her would be slightly higher on slower ground but she is still the most appealing option. The top three on the racecard all ran well over 2m4f here when last in action and, of that group, Applaus may be the one best suited by today's drop back in trip. We Still Believe is tricky to weigh up on his handicap hurdle debut but has been running well on the Flat lately.[Chris Wilson]
On her run in a Group 3 last time, Blamethechampagne will take beating but she has a horror draw to overcome, so preference is for the similarly weighted MARY THE PRIEST. Though the selection is unraced on ground this quick, plenty by her sire handle it and she can make the most of her low draw. Elliptical, Dandy Licious and Bruce Lightning can run well. [Tyrone Molloy]

BATAME DU BOCAGE (5) looks best judged on her third at this venue three starts ago in a Listed chase over 4400m. She is the form choice. CHAMPAGNE MYSTERY (4) is more than capable of making life difficult, he looks ready for a win after two recent second-placed efforts, the latter in a Grade 3 chase at Compiegne on May 10th. FILUP (1) was a winner when last seen and looks sure to put in another good performance. BLACKFIELD (11) has been in good shape and also makes the shortlist.
A market check will be crucial as regards the chances of the two newcomers in this valuable seller, especially Churros whose stable is operating at around a 30% strike-rate with its 2yos this year, including first time out. Gray's Inn is respected if building on her promising Ripon debut on this different ground, but the choice is SANKARI whose first and second in a couple of novices last month read well in the context of this race. He looks the one to beat despite the penalty.[David Bellingham]
Three-time course winner DALKINGSTOWN earns the vote in the expectation that he will improve for last month's comeback run. Aviewtosea was progressive last year and is feared most on his second start back from an absence.[Ben Hutton]
An exciting first running of this pure test of speed for 3yos. Among the more interesting candidates are Tallulah Myla, attempting the trip for the first time, and Russet Gold, who has untapped potential on his return from a layoff and a gelding operation. Jm Jungle, Miss Brazen and Tatterstall, second, sixth and seventh at York last month, should be in the mix again but marginally preferred is Tatterstall's stablemate ZUFFOLO. A comfortable winner at Redcar 12 days ago, he can continue his progress and follow up. Clearcut Newcastle scorer Can To Can may provide the stiffest resistance.[Richard O'Brien]

(5) Gloire Du Lupin | 7 | J Lehericey | J Marmion | Seldom far from the action but unseen since September and will not be given a hard race
(6) Grizzly Bear | 7 | Q Luc | J Monclin | Decent dual-purpose sort here for reasons of conditioning and with shoes on will have little to offer
(7) Gold D'Ecroville | 7 | B Marie | B Marie | Rarely disappoints when he can keep his action together. Has previously won here and must be taken seriously
(8) Gianina Bella | 7 | A Wiels | J Marmion | Useful mare but stays shod for return from a spell and will need the outing
(9) Flying Brickell | 8 | S Ernault | S Ernault | Serious type that drops back in class after a respectable Class C effort in Paris and should be competitive for a spot on the podium this time
(10) Granit Du Gers | 7 | D Heon | E Lelievre | Has been acquitting himself well in both codes of late. Little chance of returning home with silverware but still expected to give an honest account |
Beaten by little at Vichy a month ago, GENTLEMAN PIYA (3) finds himself on the front line here and looks eminently capable of imposing this time. The slightly more delicate GIANA DE MARZY (4) is also well-positioned on the first row and after a fine, but sanctioned, Nantes run will be dangerous if applied. Twice a winner already this season, FLYING BRICKELL (9) takes a big dip in class and despite the 25m handicap should still be competitive for a place. After reassuring at Chateaubriant, FABULE
Some of these have already shown significant promise, but the Godolphin newcomer STAR OF MYSTERY has an illustrious pedigree and is taken to make a winning start. Miss Roberts and Oops were second and fourth respectively at Newmarket a fortnight ago and Oops is feared most, having appeared to fail to handle the Dip before running on well. Yarmouth runner-up Jiwin could also be involved.[Ben Hutton]

(1) Bartholdi | 5 | C Zackey | M/a Azzie | Ran well when fourth in the Grade 1 Cape Flying Championships recently and admirable career strike-rate; well held in the Computaform Sprint latest (Turffontein Standside)
(2) Full Velocity | 5 | K Matsunyane | S G Tarry | Has won here; beaten just over 3l when fifth of nine but didn't run badly at 9-2 (Turffontein Standside) running over this distance 35 days ago; is passed over as has more on her plate in this

(4) We'Re Jamming | 3 | G Van Niekerk | J S Snaith | Beaten narrowly at 10-1 (this trip Kenilworth, Grade 3) last month (form has been boosted); a good career strike-rate; this represents a step up in class but has to be considered
(5) Surjay | 4 | L Mxothwa | B Crawford | Is a multiple winner at this distance (all wins at this trip) and finished sixth in the Grade 1 Cape Flying Championships in January; upped to 7f last month (Greyville) when beaten just over 4l; with more on his plate is passed over
(6) Supreme Warrior | 4 | D De Gouveia | M/a Azzie | Admirable career strike-rate; ran encouragingly when 2½l third (this trip, Turffontein Standside, stakes race) last month, form which has been advertised since; is not ruled out despite moving up in class
(7) Good Traveller | 4 | R A Venniker | M L Roberts | Has won here before; ninth of 12 (this distance, Greyville, stakes race) last month; not likely to get competitive with this looking tougher than last time

(10) William Robertson | 4 | G Lerena | C Spies | Upped to 7f four weeks ago (Greyville) when beaten 4½l; ran well when second in the Grade 1 Computaform Sprint recently and solid career strike-rate; with more on his plate others have more pressing claims
(11) After The Rain | 5 | A Mgudlwa | G Van Zyl (jnr) | Finished in front of two of these (Greyville, this distance, stakes race) last month when seventh beaten just under 3l; season-ticket holder here with four wins; facing a tougher assignment than last month, easy enough to take on
(12) Gladatorian | 3 | S Veale | S H Ferrie | Narrow winner (SP 25-1) of a Listed handicap race on his first start for this trainer here latest; more on his plate this time but could go well
(13) Rio Querari | 6 | R Fourie | J S Snaith | Scored narrowly in a Grade 3 (Kenilworth) 33 days ago, form franked by next-time-out winner Going Up; has won multiple times on a straight course; must go on the shortlist despite moving up in class
(14) Gimme A Prince | 4 | K De Melo | D Kannemeyer | Has won here in the past and won the Cape Flying Championships four months ago; did well from a poor draw (Greyville) when close second at 5-1 latest and ahead of several of these rivals; more on his plate but looks a big player
(15) Taikonaut | 3 | M Yeni | R R Magner | Sixth of ten in the Computaform Sprint (Turffontein Standside) latest; a prolific winner during his career
(16) Under Your Spell | 4 | C Habib | S G Tarry | A course winner and fourth in the fillies Grade 1 Empress Club 49 days ago; finished sixth dropped back to this trip at Turffontein Standside last month; facing a tougher assignment than last month, may have to settle for supporting role at best
(17) Pearl Of Asia | 6 | Reserve 1 | R A Hill | Impressive record of three wins from seven runs here but hasn't won for a while; last of 11 (Greyville) latest; easy enough to take on as this is a tougher test
(18) Tread Swiftly | 5 | Reserve 2 | G Van Zyl (jnr) | Hard to see him taking this as this is a tougher test |
GIMME A PRINCE gets the vote. He can confirm superiority over Surjay, William Robertson and Seeking The Stars, who were behind him last time and has won over this trip before. Gladatorian has strong course form.
David Pipe is bidding for a hat-trick of wins in this cheekily named juvenile hurdle and his dual French Flat winner WAITARA looks a very likely candidate. Uncle Matthew and Hourless (preferred in that order) also represent stables with good strike-rates at this track, and have also both won on the Flat.[Chris Wilson]
Having run poorly on unsuitaby soft ground on the last few occasions, INVENTOR should be more effective back on a lively surface and can score. After a pleasing enough return at Cork on ground softer than ideal, Karaoke can get involved. Las Cuatro is interesting on handicap debut but has a tough draw. Half Nutz and Coumshingaun are others to consider. [Tyrone Molloy]

(9) Great Feeling | 5 | N Howie | M Seror | Credible 4th on the last run over 3900m at this venue on May 21st. Might find a few too good |
MONACOVILLE (7) is obviously quite fragile but has plenty of talent. He can improve off a recent run at Compiegne when an encouraging third last month and get his first win since 2021. ISPANO STAR (6) ran well when third over 3900m here on April 18th. He can give a good account of himself once more. VANDRIMAR (8) has been performing well and was a nice third at this track in April when last seen. He is capable of getting in the shake-up. LOQUAS (3) is another that has nice course form and should
The two Irish challengers are worthy of respect given the stables they represent, but the form of the race Lady Onyx won on her debut isn't working out so last season's Group 3 winner Basil Martini may prove the pick of the pair. However, fast ground would be a question for her so HEREDIA is preferred. Already twice placed at Listed level, the form of her narrow defeat at Newmarket last time has since been well advertised by the winner and the return to this longer trip is no worry at all.[David Bellingham]
The market should be watched carefully, especially with Nicky Henderson running two of the five newcomers. Fergal O'Brien's fine record in bumpers so far this season swings the pendulum in favour of HINT OF SAGE, with Thirtyfour Thirty and Henderson's Johnny Blue seen as the main dangers in that order.[Richard O'Brien]
A typically competitive Dash may go the way of LIVE IN THE MOMENT who was having only his second run for Alice Haynes when edged out in a big field at Doncaster two weeks ago. He's well handicapped on the pick of his form from 2021 and should be suited by returning to the minimum distance. Any possible draw advantage is hard to predict but others with chances from double-figure stalls include the unexposed Ancient Times, the patiently ridden Alligator Alley and the very speedy Sampers Seven, while Oisin Murphy is a positive booking for Vintage Clarets. If a low-numbered stall is no drawback (and three of the last seven winners were drawn one or two), Clarendon House may pose the biggest threat of all.[Richard O'Brien]

(9) Make A Wish | 2 | C Banz | C Escuder | Christophe Escuder-trained Morandi debutante who ought to benefit from her rider's 3,5kg allowance |
FREVILLE (2) made an encouraging debut (2nd) in a good field at Chantilly and won't be long in opening her account if building on that promise, so she gets the nod here. M'SILLA (5) represents the same formline and ought to be competitive with the benefit of that experience. RUBY IN THE ROCKS (3) and RITA AURORA (6) are also likely to improve after a pleasing introduction, so could get into the picture too.
The fact RESOLUTE MAN held a Group 1 entry when sent off a short-priced favourite under a penalty in an 11-runner Newbury novice on his reappearance suggests he's held in high regard by the Roger Varian stable. He couldn't get the job done on that occasion but impressed with the way he travelled and can give the weight away here. Onslow Gardens is the obvious main threat unless the market vibes are notably strong surrounding Owen Burrows' newcomer Game Set. [Andrew Sheret]

(11) Etiquette | 4 | S Moodley | G B Puller | Posted a good effort when fourth here 48 days ago and admirably consistent; respectable third in a handicap at Greyville Polytrack last month (dropped back to 1m1½f); may have to settle for supporting role as this is a tougher test
(12) Wiccan Warrior | 3 | A Mgudlwa | G Van Zyl (jnr) | Has won here in the past; last of nine four weeks ago (Greyville); might find this company a little easier but easy enough to take on
(13) Whispers Of War | 5 | M Yeni | C Spies | Stepped up to 1m1f in a handicap on Tuesday at Vaal Classic; has won here before; with more on his plate has questions to answer |
There's not much between those likely to be in the mix - Aurora Storm is respected albeit he is up in the weights while Kitchakal should appreciate this course. However, the selection is PONTE PIETRA who has the potential to rate higher and on his sixth career run, he looks the sort to keep on improving.
Lightly raced 6yo Lights Are Green has thrived in recent weeks and is not opposed lightly as he bids to complete a hat-trick, but he had to fight hard to fend off NO REGRETS over C&D last month and Nicky Richards' runner is now 9lb better off.[Chris Wilson]
Just touched over C&D last year, SUPER CUB was also agonisingly denied at Gowran last time but could make amends from a favourable low draw. Rock Etoile is in fine form and should run another big race dropped from 1m. Dazzling Spirit and Chestnutter should have improved from their seasonal debuts and get involved. Wee Pablo won this two years ago and isn't dismissed. [Tyrone Molloy]

JAZZY SENAM (8) likes this track, she was a good second in a Listed chase on March 26th and then pitched into a Grade 1 chase on her last run, when she fluffed her lines. She can make amends and looks hard to beat. SPEED EMILE (1) was a winner of a Class 1 chase when last seen in mid-May at this track. He knows this track very well and can once again give a bold show. INAYA JONES (3) is getting better with experience over fences. He looks ready for the step up in class and is a live player. KASH
Gareeb and Common Acclaim have given the impression they would be suited by this longer trip, while the unexposed Milteye probably has plenty more to give. Old Smoke is another worthy of consideration having not been beaten far in the London Gold Cup at Newbury last time, but the vote goes to DANCING IN PARIS who has done well since handicapping and his latest close second at Sandown can be marked up. The extra furlong ought to suit.[David Bellingham]
There should be more to come from PURE THEATRE, especially as she remains highly unexposed at this sort of distance. She is first choice ahead of Nextdoortoalice, who looks interesting back from a layoff. The other two runners are worthy of respect.[Steve Boow]
This looks a particularly strong renewal and any number of these could have their say. Fox Journey (second choice) impressed at Newmarket and is just preferred to the London Gold Cup fifth Forca Timao among those who have already appeared in a 1m2f handicap, with Andrew Balding's excellent recent record in this race demanding that Kadovar is also given a positive mention. However, the field also features an eyecatching group of probably less exposed contenders, including handicap newcomer Torito but with the vote going to PROMOTER (a grandson of the Oaks winner Look Here) who can take a leap forward with his step up in trip, a move which is also made with his stablemate Balance Play.[Richard Austen]

Newcomer LORD OF WAR (7) is closely related to exciting Almanzora and is likely to attract plenty attention here, so could be worth chancing to make a winning debut. GRAY MAN (6) is also a well-related newcomer with an attractive pedigree. CAPE CANNON (4) has the benefit of experience, which will stand her in good stead, and ought to make her presence felt if building on the improvement of her last start. GRAND GIOMAR KODI (1) has finished 4th in both outings and can also get into the picture.
This field is packed with interest and staying potential but the three to concentrate on may be PROSPER LEGEND, True Legend and Struth, in that order. The selection progressed in his first three races and won well in a maiden on good to firm ground last week, displaying plenty of promise for this longer trip, but the other two have proved their mettle in handicaps at 1m4f and won't go down without a fight.[Richard Austen]
Last-time-out winners Derracrin and Azof Des Mottes (preferred in that order) have scope for further progress and are afforded respect but Lucinda Russell's 5yo OUR MARTY (nap) shaped very much as though in need of a stiffer stamina test when fourth over 2m at Perth last month and he gets that here.[Chris Wilson]
Despite a quiet start to the campaign, the Ger Lyons yard is clicking into gear and can score here with PERFECT POISE (nap), who caught the eye staying on well under considerate handling in a good-class Naas maiden last month. Chief dangers could be Feach Amach and Phases Of Venus. [Alan Hewison]

JIULIETTA GHIA (3) was a recent winner at Vichy over 3500m on only her second try last month. She looks like the best option in a race where a number of the runners a closely matched. JET BOY CONTI (2) was a winner when last racing at Nantes last month, and is sure to have a say. DONWAVE (1) looks one to be included in all of the each-way bets as he could be value in the betting exchanges and arrives off a recent win. GUARANA (7) has plenty more to come after only two runs so far and will be fit
Despite a 5lb penalty for his Hamilton success on Wednesday, End Zone remains well treated on previous form so should again make his presence felt, but preference is for RORY who went close upped to 7f at Ayr last time and may still have more to offer over these longer trips. Without Delay has twice run well since returning and is well handicapped on last summer's C&D win. Bulls Aye won well at Carlisle yesterday.[David Bellingham]
Playtogetaway won well on his handicap debut and he might well follow up off 5lb higher, but PILLAR OF STEEL and Bannister are definite dangers. They're hard to split on a close encounter here last summer, so preference for Henry Oliver's recruit is marginal.[Alistair Jones]
The strong-travelling Scampi has a big chance to win again judged on the way he dealt with his 14 rivals at York last month. However, at what's likely to be much bigger odds, a return to form may be enough for HALIPHON to deny him. The Ian Williams-trained runner was denied by a fraction in this race last year and the return of cheekpieces looks a positive. Caius Chorister and Sea King may prove the most dangerous of their opponents.[Richard Austen]

(5) Magic Tunis | 3 | G Congiu | J P Gauvin | Returned to form when finished 3rd in a claiming race last time. Has leading claims back in a handicap
(6) Emozione | 3 | F Valle Skar | G Bietolini | Unreliable and not seen to best effect recent outings but is capable of staking a claim in a race like this. Dark horse
(7) Razi | 3 | T Piccone | H A Pantall | Inconsistent but is capable of playing a leading role given his form references. Not taken lightly
(8) Papyrus Road | 3 | H Boutin | S Culin | Has not been far off the mark in each of his 3 starts this term so could get into the picture. Dangerous to dismiss
(9) Marie Trezy | 3 | M Velon | Frau Y Vollmer | Modest filly that has blown hot and cold on both turf and PSF. Could surprise pitched into a handicap for the first time
(10) Celeb | 3 | S Ruis | N Perret | Erratic, lightly raced sort who improved to finish 4th in a claiming race last time. May have more to offer over this trip |
MAGIC TUNIS (5) was unplaced (6th), although not disgraced, in a handicap before bouncing finishing 3rd in a competitive claiming race last time, so is worth another chance back in this grade. RAZI (7) hasn't gone unnoticed in recent outings and, given those form references, could play a leading role off his current mark. Consistent NEVADO (4) should also be competitive and will keep the principals honest. Both EMOZIONE (6) and PAPYRUS ROAD (8) are capable of making their presence felt too.
Having posted two 1m2f wins during a progressive 2022, SHIMMERING SANDS (nap) reappeared with a close third over 1m at Pontefract recently and can return to winning ways now back up in trip. Course winner Master Of Combat is feared most back from a break, while Pledge Of Honour and Thunder Max are other possible dangers.[Ben Hutton]
Noel Kelly's unexposed mare CHANCER DANCER took a big step in the right direction when fourth in a big-field Down Royal handicap last month and gets the vote in the hope she has more to offer over today's longer trip. Methusalar probably needed last month's Market Rasen run and will be dangerous if able to recapture last spring's form, while Bushmill Boy wasn't beaten far from out of the weights last time and competes off his correct mark today.[Chris Wilson]
An interesting little race in which a chance is taken on the still unexposed GREY LEADER improving enough over this trip to overcome some higher-rated rivals. Tiverton and Cosmic Invasion have both been tried at a much higher level and are now coming down to reality so rate likely dangers. [Alan Hewison]

(1) Haddexa Des Obeaux | 6 | T Beaurain | N Devilder | Had a recent run when 4th at this track in April over 3900m. Will be sharper today. Player
(2) Premiere Demande | 6 | N Ferreira | S Dehez | Has three unplaced runs in 2023, the latter over 3800m last month. Seems out of form and best watched
(3) Bat Drim | 5 | T Blainville | P Leblanc | A winner at Saint-Brieuc over 4200m on May 18th when last racing. Others rate higher
(4) Gout Du Bonheur | 7 | A Desvaux | P Journiac | A winner last month over 3500m at Montlucon over fences. Can make the frame
(5) Hamersley | 6 | D Gallon | C Bonin | Is capable on a going day, 5th at Senonnes two runs back over hurdles in April over 3900m. Can have a say in proceedings
(6) Indiana Roque | 5 | T Vabois | P J Fertillet | Won at Morlaix over 3900m on May 14th. Sure to be involved at the business end
(7) Feu Follet Sivola | 8 | T Chevillard | P Quinton | Usually involved at the business end, 4th at this venue two runs back over 4400m in April. Contender
(8) Cima Well | 8 | D Carre | C H Plisson | Recent 3rd over hurdles at this venue over 3900m in May. More needed in a better race
(9) Pinaclouddown | 7 | A Zuliani | L Postic | Two unplaced runs of late, and a 4th over 3700m at this venue before those. Looks safely held |
HADDEXA DES OBEAUX (1) looks like a tentative choice for this event. He will be fitter for a fourth-placed effort at this venue in April and can gain his first win at this track having last won at Craon in 2021. FEU FOLLET SIVOLA (7) has place form at this track and although an infrequent winner he is usually on the premises. HAMERSLEY (5) has the ability to make his presence felt, he can have a say in the proceedings. INDIANA ROQUE (6) was a recent winner at Morlaix and will arrive full of conf
Just the six runners but few can be dismissed with any confidence. Laakhof has to be high on the list after his successful stable debut last month, the form of which is working out well, while Stay Smart is respected if building on his improved effort last time. The choice, however, is CANARIA PRINCE who has run well in both starts since returning and is off the same mark as for the second of two successes over C&D last August.[David Bellingham]
This can go to AMALFI BAY who had some fair form on the Flat and wasn't disgraced in a better race than this on his hurdle debut at Fontwell. This looks much more winnable and his yard is in fine form. There are glimmers of hope for a few of these and Ruler Legend, Jonjo O'Neill's newcomer off the Flat, would be interesting if there is any strength behind in him in the betting. Rick Blaine is another newcomer to consider but Hidol Du Livet needs to calm down if he's to fulfil his potential.[Emily Weber]
Last year's winner MR WAGYU is well handicapped on last season's best form and earns the vote on the back of an encouraging run at York. Recent Windsor winner Haymaker has a progressive profile and is second choice, while Probe has thrived and will be a big danger if this return to quicker ground isn't a negative. Apollo One could also be involved.[Ben Hutton]

(1) Havoc | 5 | C Berge | F X Weissmeier | Enjoyed a purple patch since March and has gone up the weights/ratings as a result. Can get into the picture again
(2) Bobbymurphy | 5 | T Piccone | M Pimbonnet | Has made no impression in consecutive Quinte+ outings recently but should find this a lot easier. Can make amends
(3) Bazoques | 5 | T Trullier | Y Bonnefoy | Unreliable but capable mare who could stake a claim in a race of this nature back at the track of her most recent win. Respect
(4) Virtus | 4 | A Pouchin | Y Bonnefoy | Consistent performer with a good track record and solid form references. Should have a role to play
(5) Blanc Bleu | 5 | M Grandin | P Cottier | Undeniably capable but has struggled since winning three starts back. Drawn wide but could pop up
(6) Brave Shiina | 6 | A Lemaitre | Frau Y Vollmer | Finished a reassuring 2nd in last time and should have a say here if confirming that improvement. Keep safe
(7) Kane Ore | 4 | M Barzalona | St Richter | Runner-up on her reappearance but has only finished 5th in both starts since. Capable of better here
(8) Saint Nicolas | 8 | L Honorat | S Culin | Has won two of his three starts this year, including his most recent outing. Not taken lightly given his rider's 3,5kg allowance
(9) Agoureil | 4 | M Velon | J P Gauvin | Well beaten in back-to-back recent starts having finished 3rd in his two previous outings. Unreliable
(10) Sky Glory | 5 | H Boutin | S Culin | Seldom far off the mark but needs to spark some improvement to trouble the judge here. Outsider
(11) Jolienene | 4 | A Molins | Frau C Bocskai | Appears to have lost her way, having made no impression in either of her comeback runs. Capable of better
(12) Super Zoom | 4 | C Lecoeuvre | Frau C Bocskai | Has shown some signs of improvement recently but will need to raise his game to get a look in here
(13) Southwest Harbor | 4 | M Guyon | M Maillard | Seldom far off the mark and the booking of Maxime Guyon should aid her cause. Hard to trust but is as hard to rule out |
BOBBYMURPHY (2) has let the side down in consecutive recent outings but those disappointing efforts were at a higher level. He ought to redeem himself in this grade off a lower mark, so is worth another chance here. Yoann Bonnefoy has BAZOQUES (3), back at the scene of his last success, and consistent VIRTUS (4) to fight for victory. BRAVE SHIINA (6) can get in on the action if confirming the improvement of her recent 2nd, while HAVOC (1) is in good form and dangerous to dismiss despite top-weig
The progressive WILDFELL is one of a few of the likely market principals who needs to prove his effectiveness on turf, but he was comfortably on top when completing the hat-trick at Southwell last month and the handicapper may not have got him yet. Lerwick moved well in the lead for a long way on his Haydock reappearance and is second choice. Like the selection, Supaspecialawesome is one who should have a say if transferring his AW form to the grass. The Parent failed to fire in a Newbury nursery when last seen, but it could be significant that he went off favourite and it will be interesting to see if there's any market support for him again on his reappearance.
