3rd (8) Nivelle's Magic	4	Tom Queally	Simon Earle	Seven-race maiden; has performed well a couple of times for new yard this year (7f/1m, AW) and looked better than bare result last time; gives the impression she may improve for this new trip; not dismissed.
(4) Uther Pendragon	8	Taylor Fisher	J S Moore	Completed a hat-trick in December but those are his only wins since mid-2020 and overall strike-rate remains modest; form dipped the last twice and others are preferred.
(10) Sapperdean	4	Aidan Keeley	Luke Dace	0-5; campaigned on AW at Kempton until a poor effort on turf last time; penultimate effort (1m; handicap debut) wasn't devoid of promise and he may improve for this longer distance.
(3) Recuerdame	7	Paddy Bradley	Simon Dow	Hold-up performer; not disgraced elsewhere the last twice; return to Lingfield looks ideal, having gained last three wins here, the most recent off this mark in March; one to consider.
(6) Magical Dragon	6	Frederick Larson	Patrick Chamings	Only eighth at Bath last time, failing to back up his Windsor reappearance effort; strike-rate is just 1-24 but remains well treated (the sole win came off 7lb higher); possibilities if back to best.
(12) Lady Bianca	3	Nicola Currie	Jamie Osborne	Seven-race maiden; respectable sixth in 14-runner field at Bath (1m2f) most recently; however, hasn't progressed from a good effort in January and may have to settle for another supporting role.

1st (2) Glenister	4	Thore Hammer Hansen	Sir Mark Prescott Bt	Still has low mileage; absent since finishing lame last September; subsequently had wind surgery; successful over C&D (handicap debut; sole 1m2f attempt) in August and remains open to further progress at this sort of level; interesting back here.
(11) Gallimimus	3	Billy Loughnane	George Boughey	2-2 since handicapping, the wins recorded at Leicester (1m2f) on Monday and Tuesday of this week; latest success was gained in better style than the reappearance 24 hours earlier; open to further improvement; could well defy a double penalty and complete the hat-trick, provided he's as effective back on AW.

Gallimimus may well complete a quickfire hat-trick provided he maintains progress back on AW. GLENISTER, an unexposed type who returns to the scene of his win last August, looks an interesting alternative, while Musterion, Nivelle's Magic and Duveen are other suggestions for the shortlist.[Steve Boow]

(4) Bright Start	6	William Carver	Saeed bin Suroor	Just one win from 17 starts, namely a dirt maiden (1m1f) in Dubai in January 2021; out of sorts in 2022 and no sign of a revival in two runs in Dubai this winter; down in the weights but there are risks attached.
(1) Open Champion	4	Tom Queally	Alan King	Odds-on favourite when winning a C&D maiden last August (for Roger Varian); no better than midfield since returned to the Flat for current yard (fell on hurdle debut in February) but he ran okay at Kempton in April (met trouble) and this represents a drop in grade; contender.
(9) Night Eagle	5	Billy Loughnane	Gary Moore	Picked up a couple of Class 6 handicaps last summer (one of them here over 1m2f) but ended 2022 quietly and he was well beaten on his return at Windsor last month; better expected today (cheekpieces back on) but others still appeal more for win purposes.
1st (2) Appier	4	Adam Kirby	S Woods	The winner of six of his 13 runs in handicaps, the latest of them over 1m4f at Newcastle last month; similar level of form when third at Newmarket 16 days ago (off this mark); C&D winner and likely to give a good account.
4th (7) Arcadian Friend	4	Thore Hammer Hansen	Sir Mark Prescott Bt	Well backed and ran out the easy winner of a Class 6 handicap over C&D last July; beaten at odds of 1-5 five days later and then disappointed at Southwell in September; could still have more to come and his stable could hardly be in better form.
2nd (3) Citizen General	4	Neil Callan	Ed Dunlop	4-8 in handicaps over 1m2f+, showing his best form over 1m5f here three weeks ago when keeping on strongly in a first-time visor; had proved no match for Appier when second at Newcastle on his penultimate start and he's worse off with that rival today.

Arcadian Friend won well over C&D on his handicap debut last summer and he returns to action with his stable in fine form. He still has time to do better, while Appier (second choice) and Citizen General have made giant strides in handicaps and should remain competitive. Conversely OPEN CHAMPION is yet to win a handicap but he won his maiden over C&D and his run at Kempton two starts back strongly suggested he retained ability.
