1st (6) (20/1 -100%)Broken Vow |
20/1(-100%) | (6) Broken Vow 20/1, Decorated Knight filly; dam was very useful over 10f; half sister to multiple flat winners; trainer in form; likely type. Perhaps not as appealing as some on pedigree but stable does well with its bumper runners. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (5/4 +64%)Itsinthename |
5/4(+64%) | (1) Itsinthename 5/4, Promising effort when third beaten 2 1/2l in a maiden point at Loughanmore on debut. Returns from a short break having joined a top yard that can ready them first time; of interest. Third of eight in an Irish maiden point; stable gets its fair share of bumper winners. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (8/1 -140%)Le Cold Grey |
8/1(-140%) | (2) Le Cold Grey 8/1, 95,000 euros Cokoriko gelding; half-brother to Gaillard Du Mesnil, high-class chaser from 20f to 24f; top trainer who gets plenty of first time out winners. Looks the part on breeding and stable has a fine strike-rate in bumpers. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (7/4 -46%)My Mate Aj |
7/4(-46%) | (3) My Mate Aj 7/4, Very promising debut when third beaten 4 1/4l in a bumper at Southwell. Off a short break; effective at 2m; debut form franked at Listed level and should progress; the one to beat. Third on his Southwell debut in November, but hung markedly up the home straight. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (17/2 +15%)Moscow Star |
17/2(+15%) | (5) Moscow Star 17/2, 47,000 euros breeze-up purchase by Cloth Of Stars; half-brother to Coquelicot, very smart at 25f; wears a tongue-tie for the first time and looks an unlikely winner on debut. Interesting pedigree and market should be helpful; tongue-tie on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (12/1 +70%)Kings Wardrobe |
12/1(+70%) | (4) Kings Wardrobe 12/1, 30,000gns King Of Change gelding; half-brother to Gaelic Master, modest over 16f; faces a tough enough task on debut. Has a good Flat pedigree, but stable wouldn't be associated with bumper winners. |

Le Cold Grey must be respected on debut given his connections and the market may tell us more. However, preference is for experience and MY MATE AJ finished a solid third in what looked a good Southwell bumper on his introduction in November. With normal improvement, he might take some stopping. Point third Itsinthename is another to bear in mind.

There are some nice newcomers in this with LE COLD GREY looking particularly appealing.

1st (3) (6/1 +57%)Token Gesture |
6/1(+57%) | (3) Token Gesture 6/1, Taken on up front and did too much too soon when well beaten in a handicap at Wolverhampton last time; effective at 7f with all worthwhile form on AW; has a bit to prove at present. Has been out of form for a while and still to convince over this far. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (11/4 +54%)Mbappe |
11/4(+54%) | (6) Mbappe 11/4, Not given a hard time after meeting trouble when beaten 4l off a 2lb higher mark at Wolverhampton last time; effective at 7-8f on a sound surface; fairly treated if finding his best. Has dropped to a favourable mark but needs to improve on last two efforts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (12/1 -167%)Villalobos |
12/1(-167%) | (7) Villalobos 12/1, Scored by 1 1/2l off a 7lb lower mark at Lingfield three starts ago; effective at 8-10f and acts on AW; in form until latest but has never won from a mark this high. Most effective when able to dominate; dangerous if allowed his own way; has won over C&D. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (6/1 +14%)Equion |
6/1(+14%) | (4) Equion 6/1, Found nil and was comfortably held in a handicap at Wolverhampton last time; effective at 8-9f, acts on any going; recent form has been in and out. Recent form has been patchy and is 1-18 on AW; others more compelling. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (33/1 -65%)Hopjes |
33/1(-65%) | (8) Hopjes 33/1, Bit below form when up in trip and beaten 6 1/4l in a handicap here last time; stays 10f; modest form in bumpers and on the Flat, with plenty to prove now tackling hurdles. 0-8 under rules for three different stables; hard to recommend. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (7/4 +0%)Super Hit |
7/4(+0%) | (2) Super Hit 7/4, Ran to form when beaten 1/2l off this mark at Lingfield last time; top course jockey booked; effective from 7-9f on a sound surface; running back into form and a clear threat. Just beaten by an in-form rival at Lingfield nine days ago; high on the list off same mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (33/1 -65%)Purple Sky |
33/1(-65%) | (5) Purple Sky 33/1, No obvious excuse when beaten 8 1/4l in a handicap at Dundalk last time; returns from a short break; effective at 10f on good ground but may not stay further; inconsistent in Ireland and something to prove on stable debut. 1-13 for Jim Bolger; makes her stable debut after three months off; market to guide. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|DQ| (1) (15/2 -88%)Apache Green |
15/2(-88%) | (1) Apache Green 15/2, Returned to form when beaten 2l off this mark at Wolverhampton last time; wide draw; effective at 6-8f; unexposed at 1m and looks fairly treated if building on latest. Chased home a subsequent winner at Wolverhampton last time; player from same mark. |

Judged on his latest second at Wolverhampton, APACHE GREEN could be poised to strike. The four-year-old makes plenty of appeal off an unaltered mark and compensation could be on the cards. Super Hit also arrives on the back of a runner-up effort and is likely to be at the forefront of the market, while it is too soon to be writing off Equion.

Preference is for SUPER HIT who found only an in-form rival just too good at Lingfield nine days ago.

5/2(+17%) | (13) Wondering Why 5/2, Ran to form when pulling clear with a useful winner and finishing second, beaten 1/2l, in a novice hurdle at Huntingdon last time; effective at 2m on soft and good ground; in form and should win soon. Only narrowly denied at Huntingdon last month and he's open to more progress; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (10/1 -43%)Jamada |
10/1(-43%) | (7) Jamada 10/1, Below debut form when comfortably held in a maiden hurdle at Plumpton last time; had been in good form prior; returning from a short break; effective at 2m1f on good ground and capable of better. 9/4(+36%) | (14) Zamek 9/4, Ran to form when fourth, beaten 15l, in a maiden hurdle at Kempton last time; effective at 2m on good to soft; form from bumper and hurdle runs looks strong and more to come for top yard. Runner-up over C&D on hurdling debut and had tough task at Kempton latest; shortlisted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

66/1(-100%) | (9) Sense Of Reason 66/1, Promising debut when fourth, beaten 9l, in a novice hurdle at Huntingdon after racing freely; effective from 10f to 16f on soft ground; should improve over hurdles when settling better. 4/1(+27%) | (16) Cayman Dancer 4/1, Keen but promising debut when second, beaten 8l, in a juvenile hurdle at Newbury last time; effective at 2m; progressive on the Flat and should continue to improve over hurdles. 200/1(-33%) | (15) Connies Hill 200/1, Disappointing hurdle debut when finishing down the field in a novice hurdle at Ludlow last time; second run after wind surgery; likely to need more time. Irish point winner but he's struggled in both runs under rules (bumper/hurdle); opposable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (200/1 -100%)Fravanco |
200/1(-100%) | (3) Fravanco 200/1, Improved from debut but comfortably held in a maiden hurdle here last time; had been in good form prior; more to come judged on Flat form but probably better suited to handicaps. Dual AW winner but he's been well held in both hurdle runs; down the list. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (12) (4/1 +20%)Unjeu Royal |
4/1(+20%) | (12) Unjeu Royal 4/1, Improved on initial hurdling effort when second, beaten 6l, in a maiden hurdle at Huntingdon last time; returning from a short break; effective at 2m on good to soft; more to come as a hurdler. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (5) (25/1 -79%)Hello Fortune |
25/1(-79%) | (5) Hello Fortune 25/1, Made mistakes and was outpaced but ran a promising race when second, beaten 2 1/2l, in a novice hurdle here latest; effective at 2 1/2m on good to soft; 3m point winner who may find 2m sharp. 10th (17) (28/1 -133%)Kentucky River |
28/1(-133%) | (17) Kentucky River 28/1, Modest debut when comfortably held in a juvenile hurdle at Wetherby last time; had been in good form prior; effective at 2m on good to firm; more to come based on Flat form. Progressive stayer on the Flat but he was disappointing on hurdling debut last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (11) (66/1 -100%)Trapper John |
66/1(-100%) | (11) Trapper John 66/1, Promising debut when comfortably held in a maiden hurdle at Wincanton last time; effective at 2m on soft ground; should improve slightly for the initial experience. Fair fifth on hurdling debut at Wincanton but he may ideally want further in this sphere. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (6) (28/1 -155%)Holeheartedly |
28/1(-155%) | (6) Holeheartedly 28/1, Outpaced on a modest debut when well beaten in an Amateurs' bumper at Warwick on only start; effective at 2m on good to soft; should progress over hurdles for a top yard. Well held in sole bumper but he needs watching in market on this switch to hurdling. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (2) (100/1 +0%)Bluey Bay |
100/1(+0%) | (2) Bluey Bay 100/1, Outpaced but ran to form when comfortably held in an Amateurs' bumper at Southwell last time; trainer in form; effective at 2m on good ground; plenty to find based on bumper form. Well-held fifth in two bumpers but he shaped with some promise last time; hurdling debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (4) (200/1 -100%)Gone Country |
200/1(-100%) | (4) Gone Country 200/1, Made mistakes and was outclassed when finishing down the field in a maiden hurdle at Newbury most recently; returning from a short break; likely to want further than 2m under rules. Runner-up in a point but he's been beaten 25l and 61l in two hurdle runs this autumn. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
15th (8) (12/1 +64%)Knight Templar |
12/1(+64%) | (8) Knight Templar 12/1, Fell when beaten in a maiden point at Lisronagh last time; hood fitted for the first time; returning from a long layoff but showed some minor promise in points. Fell in last Irish point and now goes hurdling after another lengthy absence; best watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
16th (18) (250/1 -25%)Shifra |
250/1(-25%) | (18) Shifra 250/1, Outpaced and poor on handicap debut when beaten 9l in a handicap at Brighton last time; returning from a break; faces a tough task on hurdle debut. Poor form in four Flat runs and can only be watched on hurdling debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
17th (1) (400/1 -167%)Blazing Gaden |
400/1(-167%) | (1) Blazing Gaden 400/1, Pulled up in a maiden hurdle at Wincanton last time; needs major improvement. 125-1 and was pulled up in a Wincanton maiden (1m7f, soft) on debut last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (10) (400/1 -167%)Somkiyr |
400/1(-167%) | (10) Somkiyr 400/1, Raced far too freely and did too much too soon when comfortably held in a novice hurdle at Plumpton last time; yet to find suitable conditions over hurdles; may improve in handicaps. Fair Flat performer in France but he's struggled in two hurdle runs for current yard. |

WONDERING WHY finished half-a-length second to the 2024 Derby runner-up Ambiente Friendly at Huntingdon last time out and that form reads well in the context of this maiden hurdle. Zamek struggled at Kempton latest but would have every chance on his previous course second, while it is also worth keeping a close eye on Cayman Dancer, Jamada and Unjeu Royal.

Newbury runner-up Cayman Dancer is respected but the vote goes to WONDERING WHY, who was only just caught at Huntingdon last month.

1st (6) (14/1 -100%)Dr Ali |
14/1(-100%) | (6) Dr Ali 14/1, Had every chance but ran a bit below form when fourth, beaten 3l in a classified race at Lingfield latest; effective at 6f and 7f, all recent form on the all-weather; currently out of form. Well treated on his best form, but is now 0-17 and not quite sure what to expect. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (13/8 +0%)Magna |
13/8(+0%) | (1) Magna 13/8, Ran to form when landing a handicap by a short-head off a 4lb lower mark at Southwell last time; top course jockey booked; effective from 6f to 8f and acts best on the all-weather; progressing since dropped back to sprint trips and may have a bit more to offer. Bids for a hat-trick off 4lb higher; high on list with Oisin Murphy doing the steering. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (9/4 +32%)Respectable Jack |
9/4(+32%) | (2) Respectable Jack 9/4, Had too much to do when ridden to see out the trip, beaten 4l off a 2lb higher mark at Chelmsford last time; trainer in form; effective at 6f and 7f, acts on the all-weather; inconsistent but a threat off this mark if getting a stiff test. 0-10 but 3lb lower than when second of 12 over C&D in September; in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (15/2 +25%)Horus |
15/2(+25%) | (4) Horus 15/2, No obvious excuse when beaten 4l off a 2lb higher mark at Southwell last time; effective from 5f to 7f and acts on the all-weather; currently out of form but did hint at better penultimate start; top jockey booked. Recent form has been patchy and just 1-18; others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (4/1 +11%)Smasher |
4/1(+11%) | (3) Smasher 4/1, A bit too free when fourth, beaten 5 1/4l in a handicap at Chelmsford latest; effective at 6f and acts on the all-weather; back on last winning mark and generally in fair form. Won twice over C&D last year and back off the same mark as for the latest in October. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (18/1 +28%)Conquest Of Power |
18/1(+28%) | (5) Conquest Of Power 18/1, Never threatened when finishing down the field in a handicap at Newcastle most recently; returning from a short break; effective from 6f to 8f, recent form all on the all-weather; plenty to prove after a break. Has regressed badly in his last five starts; best watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (100/1 -203%)Miraflores |
100/1(-203%) | (8) Miraflores 100/1, Far too free and well beaten in a classified race at Lingfield latest; wide draw; effective at 7f and acts on the all-weather; not reliable. Unplaced in all nine completed starts; look elsewhere. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (50/1 -355%)Straight Back Up |
50/1(-355%) | (7) Straight Back Up 50/1, Refused to settle and did too much too soon when beaten 5 1/4l in a handicap at Chelmsford last time; blinkers on for the first time; effective at 7f and acts on the all-weather; seeking first win and in poor form. Unplaced in nine starts over 5f-8.6f; blinkers on. |

Dual C&D winner Smasher should enjoy a return to this venue and he wasn't disgraced when fourth at Chelmsford. However, it's difficult to look beyond the hat-trick seeking MAGNA, who appeared to idle in the closing stages at Southwell a couple of weeks ago. The four-year-old may have enough in hand to defy a 4lb rise and is likely to prove popular with Oisin Murphy in the plate. Respectable Jack is the pick of the remainder.

The hat-trick seeking MAGNA is on a roll just now and her latest Southwell success has been handsomely franked.

11/2(+54%) | (8) Aworkinprogress 11/2, Scored by a length off a 4lb lower mark at Uttoxeter on his penultimate start. Effective from 2m6f–3m2f, acts on heavy and soft ground; a progressive sort until latest run. Won first five chases; disappointed last time but may still have more improvement to come. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (14) (7/1 +50%)Catch Catchfire |
7/1(+50%) | (14) Catch Catchfire 7/1, Unseated early in a handicap chase at Warwick last time. Effective from 3m–4m on soft and good ground; form in and out but mark looks fair. Not beaten far in 4m Borders National last month and still lightly raced over fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (9) (10/1 -25%)Invincible Nao |
10/1(-25%) | (9) Invincible Nao 10/1, Won by a head off a 2lb lower mark at Sandown on his penultimate start. Effective from 2 1/2–3 1/2m and acts on soft and good ground; in form and worth a drop back in trip. Ran big race before fading into fourth in London National at Sandown last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (11/1 -38%)Val Dancer |
11/1(-38%) | (4) Val Dancer 11/1, Made mistakes but ran to form when beaten 4l off this mark at Aintree last time. Enjoys making the running, suited by 3m+ with plenty of cut, and is in form though on a stiff mark. Good third at Aintree last month and still only 4lb higher than for Welsh National win. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (22/1 -38%)Whistle Stop Tour |
22/1(-38%) | (5) Whistle Stop Tour 22/1, Travelled well but did not find as much as looked likely, running to form when 9 1/4l third in a handicap hurdle at Ayr most recently. Effective up to 3m, acts on soft and good ground; in fair form but chase mark stiff enough. Placed on last two hurdle starts but his chase run in between was just respectable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (10) (16/1 -33%)Ivane |
16/1(-33%) | (10) Ivane 16/1, Won by 2l off a 13lb lower mark at Sedgefield in October and ran to form when second beaten 2 1/2l off 117 last time, now 4lb higher. Effective from 2m4f–3m5f, acts on any ground; thriving since move from Ireland. Clear second in Lincolnshire National on Boxing Day; may prefer better ground than this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (3/1 +60%)Hidden History |
3/1(+60%) | (6) Hidden History 3/1, Won by 1/2l off a 2lb lower mark at Aintree on his penultimate start. Far too free off a revised mark in open company when sixth beaten 20l last time off 127, same mark here. Trainer in form; usually held up; effective 2 1/2–3m; progressive until latest. Won on chasing debut (3m1f); safely held since but still looks interesting over new trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (11) (9/2 +50%)My Silver Lining |
9/2(+50%) | (11) My Silver Lining 9/2, Ran to form when second beaten 6 1/2l in a handicap chase at Haydock latest. Suited by 3m+ and acts on any ground; not quite the force of old but below last winning mark and could build on that run. Thorough stayer; not at good as she was but ended last year with some good efforts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (14/1 -17%)Makin'yourmindup |
14/1(-17%) | (1) Makin'yourmindup 14/1, Outpaced and needed the run when fourth beaten 41l in a handicap chase at Chepstow last time, possibly finding the ground on the quick side. Second run after wind surgery; effective 3m–3m2f; progressive before layoff and must bounce back. Made low-key return last month but well handicapped on older form; first run in a marathon. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (13) (14/1 +22%)Sporting Ace |
14/1(+22%) | (13) Sporting Ace 14/1, Won this race last year but was below form up in grade when well beaten in a handicap chase at Chepstow latest. Effective over 3m+, suited by plenty of cut; inconsistent of late. Won this race narrowly in 2025 but well beaten all four starts since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (20/1 -208%)Art Decco |
20/1(-208%) | (2) Art Decco 20/1, Travelled strongly and did it comfortably when landing a handicap by 9l off a 7lb lower mark at Exeter last time. Likes the track, improved up in trip, effective over 3m+, and suited by plenty of cut; progressive. Clear winner over 3m6f at Exeter last month; latest 7lb rise asks a lot of him. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (20/1 +0%)Surrey Quest |
20/1(+0%) | (3) Surrey Quest 20/1, Outpaced and wanted a stiffer test when down the field in a handicap hurdle at Chepstow most recently. A thorough stayer who acts on any ground; better over fences and likely being prepared for spring targets. Very useful marathon chaser on his day but badly out of form over hurdles this season. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (15) (22/1 -57%)Ali Star Bert |
22/1(-57%) | (15) Ali Star Bert 22/1, Went clear cosily when landing a handicap by 6l off a 7lb lower mark at Southwell last time. A thorough stayer suited by 3m+ and acts on soft and good ground; best at Southwell and back in form but yet to win off a mark this high. Up in grade after two Southwell wins but looked in rude health last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (33/1 -65%)Regal Blue |
33/1(-65%) | (7) Regal Blue 33/1, Pulled up in a handicap chase at Haydock last time and now wears cheekpieces for the first time. Returning from a long layoff; effective from 2 1/2–3m and acts with cut; inconsistent and has had issues. Very inconsistent 9yo; sports first-time cheekpieces on first outing since December 2024. |

MY SILVER LINING ticks a lot of boxes as a previous course scorer who arrives in good nick. A solid second last time out at Haydock, Emma Lavelle's charge won't mind going back up in trip and last season's Midlands Grand National fourth ought to have a big say. Sporting Ace won this last year and is noted along with Art Decco.

Topweight MAKIN'YOURMINDUP looked a very promising stayer chaser during the 2023-24 season and might have needed last month's run.

1st (7) (7/2 +50%)Helga |
7/2(+50%) | (7) Helga 7/2, Fair debut over what looked an inadequate trip when beaten 6 1/2l in a novice at Southwell; has a top course jockey and trainer combination, bred to stay, and should improve especially when stepped up in distance. Green on debut, but should improve and the longer trip should suit on pedigree. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (10/3 -21%)Distorted Truth |
10/3(-21%) | (2) Distorted Truth 10/3, Camelot filly; full-sister to Westernesse, useful over 9f; dam was very useful at 16f; represents a top trainer who gets plenty of first time out winners. Stable gets plenty of 3yo winners first time and market confidence should be heeded. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (10/3 -67%)Misty Cove |
10/3(-67%) | (8) Misty Cove 10/3, Solid debut effort when 5l fourth in a 2yo race at Dundalk; stays 1m and should improve; sets the standard on form. Promising fourth on Dundalk debut, but longer trip is a doubt on pedigree. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (18/1 -13%)Five Moons |
18/1(-13%) | (4) Five Moons 18/1, Outpaced and not given a hard time when well beaten in a maiden at Wolverhampton on sole start; bred to need further than a mile and should progress. Well held on last month's Wolverhampton debut; needs to take a step forward. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (80/1 -21%)Al Amirah |
80/1(-21%) | (1) Al Amirah 80/1, Beaten before the home turn and well held in a novice at Chelmsford last time; bred to need at least 10f and has shaped as if middle distances will suit better. Little encouragement in two starts over 1m on Polytrack; major improvement needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (100/1 -100%)Glamerous |
100/1(-100%) | (6) Glamerous 100/1, 1,200gns breeze-up purchase by Ulysses; half-sister to Green Keeper, fair at 8f as a 2yo; dam was high-class at 10f; faces a tough assignment on debut. 1,200gns 2yo; decent pedigree but stable not known for winning newcomers. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (33/1 -32%)Echo Valley |
33/1(-32%) | (3) Echo Valley 33/1, Kameko filly whose dam was smart over 14f and won over 2m; faces a testing task on debut. Worth a market check on debut, but her future may lie over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (13/8 +19%)Galistra |
13/8(+19%) | (5) Galistra 13/8, 100,000gns Galiway filly; half brother ran well over 12f in France; trainer in form; likely type. Plenty to like on breeding and stable has plenty of 3yo winners first time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (9) (200/1 -203%)Peas And Queues |
200/1(-203%) | (9) Peas And Queues 200/1, Badly outpaced as the race developed when comfortably held in a novice at Wolverhampton last time; bred to be a miler but has looked slow so far; a big, strong, workmanlike type with plenty to prove. Failed to beat a rival in two starts on AW; makes no appeal up in trip. |

Having posted an encouraging fourth-placed debut over 1m at Dundalk last month, MISTY COVE could be set to open her account. The daughter of Inns Of Court looks a potential improver stepping up in distance and her experience could prove decisive. Galistra fetched 100,000gns as a yearling and is a potential fly in the ointment, along with fellow debutant Distorted Truth, in a race where the market may speak volumes.

There are a couple of interesting newcomers in this with the nicely bred GALISTRA just given the nod over Distorted Truth.

8/1(+50%) | (13) Luwdvig 8/1, Ran to form when fourth, beaten 10l in a Warwick handicap hurdle, flattening out after a late error. Effective from 2m to 2m5f, acts on soft and good, and should have a bit more to come in handicaps. Ran well when fourth on recent handicap debut (2m3f); one to consider. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (9) (18/1 -29%)Godot |
18/1(-29%) | (9) Godot 18/1, Pulled up in a handicap hurdle at Ascot latest. Effective around 2 1/2m and suited by plenty of cut. Needs to leave latest form behind. Struggled on last month's reappearance outing but was a C&D winner last season. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (9/1 +25%)Sunday Soldier |
9/1(+25%) | (5) Sunday Soldier 9/1, Fell in a handicap chase at Cheltenham last time when going well. Effective from 2m to 2 1/2m and has been flattered by Listed form. Fell in a chase last time but hurdling is more her game and she's on a good mark now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (8/1 +43%)Confinentic |
8/1(+43%) | (6) Confinentic 8/1, Did not find much after stumbling on a bend and needed the run when comfortably held in a Warwick handicap hurdle last time. In good form previously. Effective from 2m to 2m4f, acts on soft and good to soft, and capable of better. 2-3 over hurdles last season; flopped on reappearance but may still have potential. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (22/1 -175%)Chief Sunday |
22/1(-175%) | (4) Chief Sunday 22/1, Pulled up in a handicap chase at Leicester last time. Effective at 2m and acts on soft and good ground. Consistent over hurdles but needs to bounce back after a poor spell chasing. Chasing hasn't gone to plan this season but he reverts to hurdling on a workable mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (1) (7/1 +13%)Canty Bay |
7/1(+13%) | (1) Canty Bay 7/1, Ran to form when fourth, beaten 11l in a handicap hurdle at Newton Abbot on return from a long absence. Effective at around 2 1/2m and suited by cut. Has gone well fresh but needs to show ability remains after layoff. Absent since October 2024 but resumes on a good mark; market may guide. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (3) (22/1 -83%)Galactic Charm |
22/1(-83%) | (3) Galactic Charm 22/1, Back to form when fourth, beaten 6 1/4l in a handicap hurdle at Huntingdon, but appeared to need a stiffer test. Effective around 2m and acts on soft and good ground. Fairly treated on best novice form and could bounce back up in trip. Step back in right direction when fourth last month (2m); interesting over new trip here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (7) (14/1 -40%)Sea Warrior |
14/1(-40%) | (7) Sea Warrior 14/1, Clipped heels and fell in a handicap hurdle at Wincanton last time. Effective at 2m and consistent in a short career. Should improve for that run, but current mark demands more. Unlucky to come to grief mid-race on last month's handicap debut and remains unexposed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (11) (7/1 +22%)Risk It All |
7/1(+22%) | (11) Risk It All 7/1, Made mistakes but produced a better effort on second start after a wind operation when second, beaten 8l in a Fontwell handicap hurdle. Usually held up. Effective at 2m, acts on good to soft, and may prefer this bit bit further. 0-5 over hurdles; bumped into a big improver when second of four last time; new trip today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (2) (18/1 -260%)Casa Loupi |
18/1(-260%) | (2) Casa Loupi 18/1, Returned to form when winning a selling hurdle at Leicester by 8 1/2l last time. Enjoys making the running and best around 2m but stays 2 1/2m. Acts on soft and good ground, and looks fairly treated back in a handicap. Won a recent seller but faces a much tougher assignment on this handicap return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (10) (9/1 -38%)Blue Sky Dreaming |
9/1(-38%) | (10) Blue Sky Dreaming 9/1, Improved from debut when fourth, beaten 7 1/2l in a maiden hurdle at Ludlow last time after a short break. Effective at 2m and acts on good to soft and good. Should have more to offer over hurdles now handicapping over further. Fourth over 2m in both hurdle races; up in trip for handicap debut; improvement likely. |

It may have only been a selling hurdle that CASA LOUPI won at Leicester last time, but he did it very well and appears to be the one to beat on his return to handicaps. Sea Warrior remains unexposed and should not be underestimated in a race of this nature. Others to consider are Blue Sky Dreaming, Confinentic and Risk It All.

Five-time hurdle winner SUNDAY SOLDIER wasn't seen at her best over fences towards the end of 2025 but is back hurdling on a good mark.

8/13(+65%) | (4) Caliban 8/13, Improved up in trip when second beaten a neck in a maiden at Wolverhampton last time; strong course jockey/trainer combination; effective at 12f and in good form; gets pull at weights with conqueror; big chance. Behind Siouxfonic the last twice, but weighted to reverse latest running with him. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (10) (80/1 -21%)Summer Appeal |
80/1(-21%) | (10) Summer Appeal 80/1, Too green to show much when beaten 10l in a maiden here on debut; wears a hood for the first time; off a long absence; longer trip could suit but hard to recommend. Not seen since beating one home on her debut here in November 2024; hood given a go. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (15/8 +17%)Siouxfonic |
15/8(+17%) | (1) Siouxfonic 15/8, Improved for debut experience when stepped up in trip to win a maiden at Wolverhampton by a neck last time; effective at 11-12f and has undergone a wind operation; should go well under penalty. Beat Caliban by a neck last month; may struggle to confirm the form under a penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (20/1 +20%)John Galt |
20/1(+20%) | (6) John Galt 20/1, Showed mild promise when fourth beaten 13l in a maiden at Wolverhampton on debut; effective at 12f and acts on all-weather; should improve for the experience but has work to do with re-opposing rivals. Promise when fourth on his Wolverhampton debut, but finished well behind two of these. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (11/1 -10%)Abando |
11/1(-10%) | (3) Abando 11/1, Again below his German form when fourth beaten 14l in a novice at Chelmsford wearing cheekpieces; returning from a break; effective 10-12f; third at Group 2 level in Germany as a 3yo but not near that level now. Group 2-placed in Germany, but well beaten in two starts in the autumn; another new yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (17/2 -240%)Aethelthryth |
17/2(-240%) | (9) Aethelthryth 17/2, Outpaced but promising debut when third beaten 5 1/2l in a novice at Chelmsford; off a short break; effective at 10f and acts on all-weather; likely improver up in trip. Not without promise when third on her Chelmsford debut but will need to improve a fair bit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (80/1 -220%)Imperial Decision |
80/1(-220%) | (5) Imperial Decision 80/1, Still green and ran in snatches, finishing as if needing further when 3l third in a maiden at Lingfield most recently; stamina-laden dam's side suggests middle distances will suit; may have been flattered latest but shows promise for the future. Showed more on second start despite finishing last of three; still needs plenty more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (100/1 -52%)Imperial Jade |
100/1(-52%) | (8) Imperial Jade 100/1, Pulled up in a handicap hurdle at Southwell last time; enjoys making the running but dual hurdles winner faces a stiff task here. Has lost her way over jumps; plenty to prove on belated Flat debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (7) (40/1 0%)King's Cruiser |
40/1(0%) | (7) King's Cruiser 40/1, Ran to form when comfortably held in a maiden at Wolverhampton last time; trainer in form; bred to be effective at 10-12f; looks one for handicaps. Well held in both starts late last year, finishing behind a few of these on both occasions. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (2) (125/1 -25%)Lion City |
125/1(-25%) | (2) Lion City 125/1, Lazy throughout and outclassed when comfortably held in the Wild Flower Stakes (Listed) here last time; stays 2m in bumpers; has lost enthusiasm. Faced an impossible task on Flat debut on this track last month; plenty to find here too. |

Siouxfonic, a bumper winner at Sedgefield in September, landed a maiden at Wolverhampton last month. He is progressive and may cope with a penalty in this modest-looking company. However, CALIBAN was only a neck behind in second in that race and the son of Sea The Moon, who is 5lb better off, can turn things around with Oisin Murphy taking over in the saddle. Imperial Decision and Abando complete the shortlist.

This looks to be between two old rivals, with CALIBAN weighted to avenge his neck defeat by Siouxfonic at Wolverhampton last month.

1st (2) (1/3 +42%)Bollin Thou |
1/3(+42%) | (2) Bollin Thou 1/3, Travelled strongly and went clear with ease, improving again up in trip when landing a handicap by 21l off a 7lb lower mark at Hereford last time. Effective from 2m4f to 3m and remains a progressive, unexposed stayer. Thrown in if turned out quickly and will be tough to beat. Won last 2, streets clear latest (3m1f); lesser stamina test now; respected under penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (12/1 -71%)Inion Tiogair |
12/1(-71%) | (4) Inion Tiogair 12/1, Had every chance and ran to form when fourth, beaten 10l in a handicap hurdle at Hereford latest. The trainer is in form and she is effective at 2m, acting on heavy and good to soft ground. A longstanding maiden but back in form. Two good efforts over 2m in November; below that level since; has a trip query over 2m3f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (9/2 +31%)Court One |
9/2(+31%) | (7) Court One 9/2, Ran to form when second, beaten 7½l in a handicap hurdle here latest. Effective at 2m4f and acts on good to soft ground. Has been improving since going handicapping off a basement mark. Runner-up to improved rival in two C&D handicaps; plenty more needed from out of weights. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (22/1 -120%)Mild Magic |
22/1(-120%) | (3) Mild Magic 22/1, Improved on her final qualifying run when down the field in a novice hurdle at Huntingdon most recently. Yet to find suitable conditions over hurdles and looks the type to do better handicapping, though her mark demands it. Runner-up in Irish point; modest hurdle form so far but a likely improver for handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (22/1 -83%)Directly |
22/1(-83%) | (1) Directly 22/1, Again ran to a moderate level when finishing down the field in a maiden hurdle at Cheltenham most recently. Returns from a short break and looks the type to do better now handicapping. Has hinted at ability; goes handicapping off lowly mark and may well improve for new trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (25/1 -56%)Flagon Dry |
25/1(-56%) | (5) Flagon Dry 25/1, Below form on handicap debut when down the field in a handicap hurdle at Windsor most recently. A flat winner effective at 8f on the flat and 2m over jumps, acts on good ground, but needs more to defy this mark in handicaps. AW Flat winner at 1m; well held on handicap debut over 2m and not sure to want 2m3f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (66/1 0%)Mac's Xpress |
66/1(0%) | (6) Mac's Xpress 66/1, Outpaced and below form when well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter latest. Effective over 2½m but remains a regressive maiden. Maiden; big prices and well held in 2025; hard to foresee good run from out of weights. |

It is very hard to oppose BOLLIN THOU, who arrives here on the back of two impressive victories in recent weeks. A 7lb penalty for his 21-length success at Hereford a week ago is unlikely to prevent another bold bid and he can make it a hat-trick. Court One may have to settle for second once again, while Inion Tiogair completes the shortlist.

Directly and Mild Magic are both of some interest at this level but BOLLIN THOU can defy a penalty for last week's Hereford win.

1st (1) (6/5 +20%)Up The Agenda |
6/5(+20%) | (1) Up The Agenda 6/5, Scored by 3/4l off a 4lb lower mark at Newcastle on his penultimate start; denied a clear run when third beaten 2l off 74 last time and runs from the same mark here. Effective at 6f or 7f, acts on all-weather, and could make amends. Only third in hat-trick bid last time but didn't enjoy a clear run; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (5/1 +69%)Unionville |
5/1(+69%) | (2) Unionville 5/1, Below form but not disgraced, flattening out late when fourth beaten 13l in a maiden at Cork last time. Returning from a break and effective at 5f to 6f; fair mark on Irish form but may need this on stable debut. Some ability last year; market should be revealing on stable debut after 131 days off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (9/2 +18%)Space Bear |
9/2(+18%) | (4) Space Bear 9/2, Finished well as if further may suit when beaten 3l off this mark at Southwell last time. Usually held up; effective at 6f or 7f, acts on all-weather, and could improve for the extra distance. Debut winner; gradually returning to form as when second last time; shouldn't be far away. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (9/2 +25%)Mighty Vega |
9/2(+25%) | (3) Mighty Vega 9/2, Made plenty of use of but had every chance when beaten 2 1/2l off a 2lb higher mark at Lingfield last time. Wears a tongue-tie for the first time; effective at 6f, just gets 7f, acts on all-weather, and looks fairly treated. Not beaten far in two starts since winning here, but has a bit to find with Up The Agenda. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (12/1 -118%)Saxon Prince |
12/1(-118%) | (6) Saxon Prince 12/1, Wore a tongue-tie for the first time and was never able to go the pace when beaten 8 1/4l in a novice at Southwell last time. Had been in good form prior; effective at 5f, acts on all-weather, though looks limited. Regressive in three starts at Southwell; needs a resurgence on handicap/Polytrack debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (14/1 -56%)Uniter |
14/1(-56%) | (5) Uniter 14/1, Tried in a visor and ran poorly down in trip when beaten 9l in a handicap at Southwell last time. Represents a top course jockey and trainer combination; best suited by 8f and acts on all-weather. Return to a mile should help. Made a promising debut when third here in August, but has gone backwards since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (22/1 -175%)Canyouhearthedrums |
22/1(-175%) | (7) Canyouhearthedrums 22/1, Cheekpieces tried and below form but showed a game effort when third beaten 4 1/4l in a nursery at Wolverhampton last time. Trainer in form; effective at 5f or 6f, acts on all-weather, though has a bit to prove after that run. Not disgraced since winning a Yarmouth nursery, but still has stamina to prove. |

SPACE BEAR can be keen but she has shown more promise in handicaps and a berth in stall two can see her make a big impact here. Up The Agenda needs a strong pace and can be a big danger to the selection if he gets a smoother run than he got at Lingfield last time. Mighty Vega has form that ties in with the latter and is another to consider.

This can go to UP THE AGENDA (nap) who met plenty of trouble when third in his hat-trick bid at Lingfield last time.

9/1(-13%) | (3) Icaque De L'isle 9/1, Ran to form when comfortably held in a handicap hurdle here last time. Effective from 2 1/2m to 3m and acts on any going. In fair form. Fair mark on best chase form in Britain but kept to hurdles in 2025; below best latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (7/2 +36%)Thruthelookinglass |
7/2(+36%) | (4) Thruthelookinglass 7/2, Ran to form when fourth, beaten 13l in a handicap chase at Huntingdon on latest start. Effective from 2 1/2m to 3m and acts with cut. Generally consistent but has yet to rediscover previous form since returning from a layoff. Very lightly raced; respectable efforts of late but not yet looked a cast-iron stayer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (9) (10/1 +17%)Felton Bellevue |
10/1(+17%) | (9) Felton Bellevue 10/1, Outpaced but produced a better effort in first-time blinkers, though still below form when 14l third in a handicap chase at Windsor last time. Trainer is in form. Effective at 3m and acts with cut. Dropping in the weights but below par this season. Strong C&D form includes a win last February; now 5lb lower; might revive back here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (15/2 -67%)One Last Glance |
15/2(-67%) | (7) One Last Glance 15/2, Travelled well and possibly hit the front too soon when beaten a length off a 3lb lower mark at Wetherby last time. Effective from 2m to 3m and acts on any going. Respected off a 3lb higher mark. Sole chase win at 2m5f but kept on well over 3m latest when runner-up to subsequent winner. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (6/1 -33%)Koenigsstern |
6/1(-33%) | (1) Koenigsstern 6/1, Made mistakes but travelled well and ran to form when beaten 2 1/2l off a 2lb lower mark at Warwick last time. Effective from 2m to 2 1/2m, acts on good ground and best with some cut. Now back to a workable mark and running into form. Point winner; chase win at 2m2f; runner-up over 2m4f latest; stamina to prove up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (10/3 +39%)Montmartin |
10/3(+39%) | (6) Montmartin 10/3, Probably needed the run but still ran to form on chase debut when 11l third in a handicap chase at Ffos Las last time. Effective at 3m and acts on soft and good to soft ground. Plenty more to come over fences and looks well handicapped on hurdle form. Open to improvement on handicap hurdle/chase form but off since last spring; market useful. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (10) (11/2 +66%)Endersen |
11/2(+66%) | (10) Endersen 11/2, Ran to form when fourth, beaten 23l in a handicap chase at Fontwell last time. Effective from 2m5f to 3m and remains an exposed maiden. Has possibilities on staying hurdle form but chase efforts (0-4) don't compare as yet. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (12/1 +52%)Givehimthehonour |
12/1(+52%) | (8) Givehimthehonour 12/1, Made mistakes and was outpaced when needing the run after a wind operation, finishing well beaten in a handicap chase at Newton Abbot last time. This is his second start since the procedure and he returns from a short break. Effective from 2 1/2m to 3m and suited by plenty of cut but has been out of form since moving from Ireland. Three crushing defeats over fences for this yard and has lots to prove. |

Having built on his third-placed reappearance at Fontwell when filling the runner-up spot at Warwick 19 days ago, KOENIGSSTERN looks ready to get his head back in front. A 2lb rise in the ratings looks workable for Nick Gifford's gelding and he may take some stopping if seeing out the extra yardage. Thruthelookinglass wasn't disgraced when fourth at Huntingdon and isn't taken lightly, while C&D winner Felton Bellevue is noted too.

Better Off Alone can definitely improve but marginal preference is for ONE LAST GLANCE who ran up against an improver last time.

9/4(+25%) | (3) Your Love 9/4, Yard won this last year. Ran to form when beaten 1 1/4l off a 1lb lower mark at Southwell last time. Effective at 6f and acts on all-weather. Inconsistent early on, but latest form has been franked and she's on a fair mark if building on it. Good 2nd at Southwell (6f) latest; dangerous with a repeat; connections run two here. |

2nd (1) (5/6 +70%)Shallow |
5/6(+70%) | (1) Shallow 5/6, Won this last year and had every chance when below form, beaten 5l in a handicap here last time. Likes to make the running, effective over 7f but probably best at 6f. Slightly below best lately, though the handicapper is relenting. Two C&D wins last year, including this race; may have been freshened up by a break; chance. |

Cheekpieces on for the first time and yard in good form. Effective over 6/7f and acts on all-weather; should remain competitive up 2lb. Made all in a 7f handicap at Lingfield 19 days ago; needs more here; cheekpieces added. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (15/2 -25%)Court Drive |
15/2(-25%) | (7) Court Drive 15/2, No obvious excuse when beaten 7l in a handicap at Wolverhampton last time. Had been in good form prior. Effective at 6f and acts on all-weather; capable of better than latest effort. Won over C&D on this card last year; needs to bounce back from a quiet run 24 days ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (20/1 -43%)Searchingtheblues |
20/1(-43%) | (6) Searchingtheblues 20/1, Outpaced and never threatened when beaten 4l off a 2lb higher mark at Wolverhampton last time. Effective at 7f on all-weather but generally in poor form. Yet to win a handicap but last two runs haven't been without hope; not ruled out. |

YOUR LOVE has scope to go further in handicaps and looks worth another chance after a near miss when second to a consistent type at Southwell just after Christmas. A 1lb nudge up the ratings looks fair and, given she handled the surface well on her only previous start on Polytrack, there is plenty to like. Recent Lingfield winner Handle With Care is feared the most with first-time cheekpieces a potential source of improvement. Court Drive is another option.

Richard Spencer holds a strong hand and last year's winner SHALLOW is preferred to Your Love.

4th (11) (15/2 +0%)Constant Friday |
15/2(+0%) | (11) Constant Friday 15/2, Ran to form when beaten 3l off this mark here last time; effective from 2m2f to 2m4f, acts on soft and good; still a maiden over fences but running back into form after a layoff. Hurdle winner before absence; creditable 2nd over C&D latest to one on a hat-trick. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (11/2 +8%)Diamond Days |
11/2(+8%) | (7) Diamond Days 11/2, Failed to build on debut when comfortably held in a handicap chase at Fontwell last time; effective at 2½m, acts on any ground; can improve if tidying up jumping. Promising chase debut (good); lesser effort since; this trip on soft may not be ideal. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (40/1 +20%)Arctic Stream |
40/1(+20%) | (9) Arctic Stream 40/1, Pulled up in a handicap hurdle at Windsor last time; cheekpieces first time and back from a short break; effective at 2m, acts on heavy; faces a stiff task up in trip on chase debut. Minor form in points and over hurdles, including on handicap debut (50-1); chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (11/1 +21%)Desert Halo |
11/1(+21%) | (1) Desert Halo 11/1, Unseated in a handicap chase at Fontwell last time when booked for no worse that second; generously eased in weights; effective from 2m to 2½m and handles soft ground; progressing well over fences and looks a big player. Rather mixed so far but close up when unseating 2 out (2m3f) latest in only his 2nd chase. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (7/2 +68%)Stardhem |
7/2(+68%) | (8) Stardhem 7/2, Below form when comfortably held in a handicap chase at Huntingdon last time; blinkers first time; returning from a short break; effective at 2½m, acts on good to soft and good; form has dipped since spring wins. Won first two chase starts (2m4f) but pulled up next 2 starts and finished remote latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (12/1 +14%)Jack The Nipper |
12/1(+14%) | (4) Jack The Nipper 12/1, Pulled up in a handicap chase at Southwell last time; effective at 2m and handles soft ground; yet to fire over fences and stamina remains to be proven. Hurdle promise last February but pulled up in two handicap chases this winter. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (13/2 -136%)Lady Pretender |
13/2(-136%) | (2) Lady Pretender 13/2, Travelled strongly and won comfortably, returning to form when stepped up in trip after a break, landing a handicap by 6l off a 7lb lower mark at Plumpton last time; effective 2m-2m4f, acts on heavy and soft; remains well treated on French form. Belatedly off the mark at Plumpton (2m4f) last month following wind surgery; back up 7lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (16/1 -14%)Jackeline |
16/1(-14%) | (5) Jackeline 16/1, Outpaced and a bit below form when 21l third in a handicap chase at Fontwell last time; effective from 2m to 2m4f, acts on soft (not heavy) and good ground; consistent hurdler who can improve over fences up in trip. Broke hurdle duck in late 2024 but not yet looked a natural chaser in two recent attempts. |

Lady Pretender scored with plenty in hand at Plumpton last month and she must enter calculations off 7lb higher. However, it could be worth taking a punt on DESERT HALO, who was in touch with the leaders before unseating his rider two out at Fontwell 42 days ago. A 2lb drop in the ratings may prove to be lenient for Richard Bandey's charge and he edges the vote. Begin The Luck completes the shortlist.

Not many with convincing claims but perhaps LADY PRETENDER (nap) has finally turned a corner after her recent Plumpton win.

15/2(-50%) | (5) Party Bear 15/2, Needed the run when beaten 6l in a handicap at Southwell last time. Wears cheekpieces for the first time. Effective at 6/7f on all-weather and back on last winning mark; must bounce back. Back off last winning mark but needs to put her latest efforts behind her. |

8/1(-100%) | (3) Lerwick 8/1, Ran to form when beaten a length off this mark here last time. Effective from 6f to 8f and acts on sound surfaces. Down in the weights again and could go well. Ran well to finish third over C&D last month; race has produced winners, but drawn widest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (15/2 +53%)Neyva's Angel |
15/2(+53%) | (6) Neyva's Angel 15/2, Had too much to do after missing the break when fourth, beaten 5 1/2l in a handicap at Newmarket last time. Usually held up, returning from a short break. Effective at 5/6f and acts on all-weather; mark still looks stiff on novice form. 0-6 but has shown ability; longer trip shouldn't be an issue, but she has been off 80 days. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (4/1 -20%)King David |
4/1(-20%) | (7) King David 4/1, Ran to current form when beaten 1 1/4l off this mark at Southwell last time. Effective over 7/8f on all-weather and on a fair mark but on a losing run. C&D winner; only just behind I'm Workin On It at Southwell last month; each-way claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (10) (16/1 +0%)Dayman |
16/1(+0%) | (10) Dayman 16/1, Never threatened after meeting trouble when beaten 7l in a handicap here last time. In good form prior but returning from a long layoff. Effective at 7f on all-weather but appears regressive. C&D winner, but losing run up to 19 and has plenty to prove after 13 months off. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (11) (12/1 -50%)Danehill Star |
12/1(-50%) | (11) Danehill Star 12/1, Ran to form under a positive ride when third, beaten 4 1/2l in a handicap here most recently. Effective from 8f to 10f and acts on all-weather. Generally consistent and unexposed at 7f. Can front-run; all four wins over further, but could go well if left alone in front. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (4) (50/1 -52%)Kev |
50/1(-52%) | (4) Kev 50/1, Needed the run on handicap debut when beaten 7l in a handicap here last time. Effective at 7f and acts on all-weather. Plenty to prove after a layoff. Finished last on handicap debut over C&D after 328 days off; best watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (9) (14/1 +44%)Saturn Seven |
14/1(+44%) | (9) Saturn Seven 14/1, Keen and never threatened when down the field in a handicap at Southwell most recently. Wears a hood for the first time. Effective at 6/7f, but her ability to handle all-weather is unproven. Has beaten a total of one rival in two starts since joining this yard; hood on. |

Several have chances and support in the betting for the likes of I'm Workin On It, Lerwick and Neyva's Angel would have solid reasoning and they warrant close inspection. However, slender preference is for KING DAVID, whose only previous success was posted over this C&D from a 2lb higher mark. After signs of a revival of late, the Gay Kelleway-trained five-year-old is a sporting option in a wide-open race.

The choice is I'M WORKIN ON IT who has winning form over C&D and whose latest Southwell second has since been franked by the winner.

Showed minor promise at two but Flat form has tailed off, with all to prove. 4yo who was tailed off over hurdles last time and he needs a transformation back on Flat. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) (4/1 +33%)Late Claim |
4/1(+33%) | (8) Late Claim 4/1, Scored by 3/4l off a 3lb lower mark at Lingfield three starts ago; never threatened when seventh, beaten 11l off 49 last time but is 1lb lower here. Effective at 12-13f on all-weather and had been in good form before that run. Didn't fire at Southwell latest but she was on the up before that; possibilities. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (9/1 -260%)Eutropia |
9/1(-260%) | (2) Eutropia 9/1, Ran to form when beaten 2l off a 1lb higher mark here last time; effective at 7-11f. Running into form for her new yard. 0-11 but was placed here last time and this new trip looks worth exploring; interesting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (11/2 +0%)Blue Siam |
11/2(+0%) | (6) Blue Siam 11/2, Ran to form but may not have stayed when beaten 5 1/4l in a handicap here last time; effective at 8-12f on all-weather. The drop back in trip should suit this maiden. 0-8 but looks feasibly treated on best form and she's in the mix back in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (28/1 -40%)Rampant |
28/1(-40%) | (9) Rampant 28/1, Offered no obvious excuse when down the field in a classified race here most recently; trainer in form. Suited by 10-12f and acts on all-weather; a longstanding maiden. 32-race maiden who was beaten 11l behind Ice Opera over C&D on Friday; passed over. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (40/1 -300%)Galactic Glow |
40/1(-300%) | (1) Galactic Glow 40/1, Found little when down the field in a handicap hurdle at Taunton most recently; effective at 2m and suited by fast ground. On a fair mark on best form but a bit to prove at present. Out of sorts under both codes in last three runs and he's 0-10 on AW. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (28/1 -100%)Staffordshire |
28/1(-100%) | (5) Staffordshire 28/1, Raced far too freely and found little when up in trip, finishing down the field in a handicap here most recently; returns from a short break. Effective at 10f on all-weather but consistently looks awkward. 0-9 and was tailed off over C&D last time; plenty to prove after another break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) (5/6 +58%)Ice Opera |
5/6(+58%) | (4) Ice Opera 5/6, Quickened clear and returned to form when winning a classified race here by 3 1/2l last time; top course jockey booked. Suited by 10-12f and acts on all-weather; may have a bit more to offer now she's got her head in front. Off the mark with a dominant display over C&D on Friday; big player again under penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (7) (200/1 -300%)Pomeriggio |
200/1(-300%) | (7) Pomeriggio 200/1, May not have stayed and needed the run when down the field in a handicap here most recently; no worthwhile Flat form since 2023 on all-weather but a fair hurdler. Sole win was in December 2023 and was tailed off in final two runs last year; opposable. |

ICE OPERA comfortably landed the spoils in a classified stakes over C&D on Friday and makes plenty of appeal on the quick turnaround. She's got a 5lb penalty to contend with but is still difficult to get away from with Billy Loughnane doing the steering. Eutropia and Blue Siam should also go well but the selection gets a confident vote in here.

The vote goes to ICE OPERA, who was an emphatic winner over C&D on Friday and is a big player if she can back that up under a penalty.

7/2(+36%) | (2) Al Shabab 7/2, Outpaced and below form when beaten 4 1/4l in a classified race at Chelmsford last time. Effective 7-10f and acts on AW. Needs to bounce back after a couple of below-par runs. Record of 1-29 but his win was in September and has claims if he can recapture that form. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (66/1 -230%)Racing Country |
66/1(-230%) | (7) Racing Country 66/1, Forced wide from a poor draw when beaten 8l in a classified race here last time. Cheekpieces on for the first time. Probably needs 10f now and acts on AW but has beaten only two rivals in six runs since a layoff. Has struggled for current yard and he needs a major revival with cheekpieces added. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (10) (20/1 -11%)Trusty Scout |
20/1(-11%) | (10) Trusty Scout 20/1, Never threatened when beaten 5 1/4l in a classified race here last time. Usually held up and best on AW over 8-12f. Unreliable and without a win for over two years. Placed over C&D on Boxing Day but he's not matched that since and losing run is up to 21. |

11/1(+0%) | (4) Boujee Gold 11/1, Had too much to do after missing the break and meeting trouble when beaten 3 1/4l in a handicap here last time. From a top course trainer, usually held up and best on AW. Needs to bounce back. Slow starter who is not easy to predict but she didn't get much luck here (8.6f) last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (12) (20/1 +0%)Spinning Dancer |
20/1(+0%) | (12) Spinning Dancer 20/1, Raced close to a strong pace which collapsed and was well beaten in a handicap here latest. Had been in good form before. Effective 1m-10f on AW. Some good efforts since September but her form nosedived here last time and she's now 0-17. |

9th (3) (40/1 -60%)Bondi Man |
40/1(-60%) | (3) Bondi Man 40/1, Never threatened when beaten 10l in a classified race here last time. Suited by 10f and acts on AW. Remains an unreliable maiden. 20-race maiden who finished last of nine in classified event over C&D last Monday. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (11) (66/1 -164%)Lady Margret |
66/1(-164%) | (11) Lady Margret 66/1, Outpaced and again below form when beaten 8 1/2l in a handicap at Southwell last time. From a top course trainer, effective at 8f on AW. Struggling for form lately. Lightly raced 4yo who hasn't finished closer than 8l to a winner; down the list. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (5) (16/1 -14%)Dors Delight |
16/1(-14%) | (5) Dors Delight 16/1, Disappointing back in a handicap when down the field at Lingfield most recently. Had been in good form before a break. Effective at 10f on AW but inconsistent and must bounce back down in class. Won at Chelmsford during the summer but was tailed off when last seen in September. |

AL BAAHY has been running well in defeat, not least at Newcastle most recently when third in this grade. He might not get many better opportunities than this and can strike at the expense of Star Of St Louis, a C&D winner who is interesting on his return to action. Boujee Gold also boasts previous winning track-and-trip form and could reward each-way support.

The vote goes to the in-form 7yo RELEVANT RANGE, who produced a strng finish when winning a classified race at Southwell on Saturday.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (11/2 -10%)Adalida |
11/2(-10%) | (7) Adalida 11/2, Didn't get home after being made too much use of up in trip in cheekpieces when fourth, beaten 4 1/2l in a novice at Kempton last time. Suited by 6f and acts on all-weather; needs return to this trip. Looks interesting on best form but she's now 0-7 and has been well held last twice. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (15/8 +37%)Arishka's Dream |
15/8(+37%) | (6) Arishka's Dream 15/8, Pulled hard and raced wide from a poor draw but still ran well when fourth, beaten 4l in a novice here last time. Probably best at 5f, stays 6f, acts on all-weather, and can progress if settling better. Went close over C&D in November and he had an excuse from tough draw last time; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (150/1 -200%)Exhibition Match |
150/1(-200%) | (8) Exhibition Match 150/1, Has shown no worthwhile form to date. Usually held up, drawn wide, and bred for 6f; appears irresolute. Poor form in three 5f novice runs this winter including when tailed off here on Boxing Day. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (25/1 -108%)Coul Britannia |
25/1(-108%) | (9) Coul Britannia 25/1, 18,000gns Coulsty filly; half-sister to Gray's Inn, very smart at 7f as a 2yo; wide draw; looks an unlikely winner on debut. Plenty to like on paper and interesting to see how she figures in market. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (250/1 -279%)Fuseboard |
250/1(-279%) | (4) Fuseboard 250/1, Made too much use of and didn't stay up in trip when finishing down the field in a novice at Lingfield last time. Bred to be effective over 6-8f but yet to show any ability. Tailed off at 250-1 in three AW runs (6f-1m) since November. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (12/1 +14%)Appetiser |
12/1(+14%) | (2) Appetiser 12/1, Raced wide from a poor draw and ran to form when beaten 6l in a maiden at Kempton last time. Trainer in form and returns from a long layoff. Effective at 7f and probably one for handicaps after this. Well held in two AW runs last spring and has plenty to find on this drop to 6f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (1) (66/1 -100%)Jubilee Time |
66/1(-100%) | (1) Jubilee Time 66/1, Due Diligence gelding; half-brother to Tanfantic, very useful at 5f as a 2yo; stable not known for debut winners. Gelded half-brother to six winners; makes a belated debut and is probably best watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (5) (17/2 -70%)Lucky Sevens |
17/2(-70%) | (5) Lucky Sevens 17/2, A'Ali colt; half-brother to Arch My Boy, useful at 14f; dam showed little on the track; faces a tough enough task on debut. Has lots of stamina in pedigree but his sire was a sprinter; needs checking in market. |

Alasrae is proving expensive to follow and was a beaten favourite again last time out when a neck second at Lingfield. Tried in a visor now, he cannot be overlooked but preference is for the less-exposed ARISHKA'S DREAM. Going back up in trip will suit and his penultimate effort here gives him every chance. Keep Adalida in mind as well.

The pick is ALASRAE, who has finished second in three of his last five runs including a near miss in a Lingfield novice last Monday.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (9) (3/1 +33%)Water Of Leith |
3/1(+33%) | (9) Water Of Leith 3/1, Had too much to do but stayed on well for a better effort, beaten 2l off this mark here last time; effective at 5f to 6f and acts on all-weather; mark is easing and could build on that latest run. Big eyecatcher over C&D last time; always reliant on luck but capable off this mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (8/1 +43%)Phoenix Of Dreams |
8/1(+43%) | (5) Phoenix Of Dreams 8/1, Far too free again when beaten 4 1/4l in a handicap at Southwell last time; effective over 6f to 7f and acts on all-weather; inconsistent and needs to settle better. Hasn't lived up to market expectation in either run back from wind surgery; bit to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (9/4 +10%)Zoulu Warrior |
9/4(+10%) | (2) Zoulu Warrior 9/4, Ran to form when landing a handicap by 3/4l off a 4lb lower mark here last time; top course jockey booked; effective from 5f to 7f and acts on good to firm and all-weather; strong chance off the new mark. Chasing hat-trick after wins at Southwell and C&D; 4lb rise may not be enough to stop him. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (6/1 -9%)Brave Empire |
6/1(-9%) | (1) Brave Empire 6/1, Ran to form when beaten a length off this mark at Newcastle last time; effective from 5f to 7f and acts on good to soft, good to firm and all-weather; should go well again. Best run for a while when 3rd at Newcastle last month; dangerous off the same mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (25/1 -25%)Wodao |
25/1(-25%) | (3) Wodao 25/1, Up in trip and didn't stay when down the field in a handicap at Chelmsford most recently; wide draw; effective at 6f and acts on all-weather; without a win since 2022 and form has been inconsistent. Tumbled down the weights but hasn't looked like capitalising; enough to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (10) (9/1 -29%)Amerjeet |
9/1(-29%) | (10) Amerjeet 9/1, Produced best work late when beaten 1/2l off a 2lb lower mark here last time; usually held up; wide draw; effective at 5f to 6f and acts on all-weather; can go well again. Running well for new yard but this is a stronger race than he's been contesting; quirky. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) (22/1 -38%)Lucky Man |
22/1(-38%) | (4) Lucky Man 22/1, Below form when beaten 5l in a handicap here last time; returns after a short break; effective at 6f and acts on all-weather; reapplied visor may prove beneficial. C&D win in October came at Class 6 level; held twice since; others appeal more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (7) (14/1 +13%)Brian The Snail |
14/1(+13%) | (7) Brian The Snail 14/1, Lacked the pace to get involved from the rear when beaten 5l in a handicap here last time; usually held up; effective at 5f to 6f and acts on all-weather; needs more off this mark. Veteran hold-up sprinter; needs to step up on last month's two runs. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (8) (16/1 +0%)Early Release |
16/1(+0%) | (8) Early Release 16/1, Below form when beaten 9 1/2l in a handicap here last time after being in good form prior; wide draw; effective at 5f to 6f on all-weather; needs to bounce back. Prominent racer; this mark is not beyond him but he'll have to defy the widest stall. |

ZOULU WARRIOR has been in fine fettle of late, with victories at Southwell and more recently over C&D. A 4lb higher mark looks workable for the four-year-old and a hat-trick may be on the cards. Brave Empire arrives on the back of a decent third at Newcastle and may serve the most resistance to the selection, ahead of the upped-in-class Amerjeet.

This looks a good opportunity for ZOULU WARRIOR (nap) to complete a Tapeta hat-trick. Water Of Leith is feared most.

Two 6f wins in the autumn and he has plenty of form at this trip; in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (9/2 +18%)Arantes Nascimento |
9/2(+18%) | (5) Arantes Nascimento 9/2, Ran to form when beaten a length off a 1lb lower mark at Chelmsford last time; effective at 7f, acts on AW; running well recently. Sole win was October 2023 but he's been knocking on the door recently; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (11/4 +50%)Star Of Mali |
11/4(+50%) | (4) Star Of Mali 11/4, Won by a length off a 3lb lower mark at Southwell penultimate start; too keen and a bit below form when sixth beaten 6l off 73 last time, same mark here; off a short break; effective 5-7f, acts on AW; needs more. Made the breakthrough at Southwell in October but he didn't shine back there last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (16/1 +43%)Beauty Choice |
16/1(+43%) | (7) Beauty Choice 16/1, Below form when beaten 5 1/2l in a handicap here last time; effective at 6/7f, acts on AW; back below last winning mark, needs to bounce back. Dual C&D winner but he's been well held the last twice and has tough draw here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (8/1 -140%)Lodge |
8/1(-140%) | (3) Lodge 8/1, Ran to debut form, gave plenty of weight to the winner when second beaten a length in a novice at Windsor latest; top course jockey booked; returning from a break; effective at 6f; probably has more to come. Returns after a break but she's unexposed and needs a close look on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (28/1 +15%)Anthropologist |
28/1(+15%) | (9) Anthropologist 28/1, Lit up by first-time blinkers when finishing down the field in a handicap at Kempton most recently; off a short break; suited by 7f, acts on AW; needs to bounce back after a couple of below-par efforts and has never won off a mark this high. Flopped in final two runs for Charlie Johnston and has plenty to prove for new yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (5/1 +38%)He's A Gentleman |
5/1(+38%) | (2) He's A Gentleman 5/1, Won by a length off a 3lb lower mark here three starts back; never competitive when ninth beaten 5 1/4l off 75 last time, same mark here; effective at 7f, acts on AW; needs to bounce back. Won over C&D in October and he had an excuse back here on Boxing Day; dangerous. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (1) (7/2 +68%)Ash Wednesday |
7/2(+68%) | (1) Ash Wednesday 7/2, Below form when beaten 5l in a handicap at York last time; suited by 7f, acts on AW; may need this run. All six wins have been on AW and he's 4-5 over C&D; interesting contender on return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (6) (17/2 -183%)Chifa |
17/2(-183%) | (6) Chifa 17/2, Improved on recent form to win a handicap by a length off a 3lb lower mark here last time; effective at 7f, acts on AW; veteran can go well again off the new mark. In-form 9yo who completed a C&D double 17 days ago; strongly respected in hat-trick bid. |

Having posted a career-best performance when completing a double over C&D recently, Chifa is likely to be involved. However, a 3lb rise could be enough to thwart the veteran and preference is for ARANTES NASCIMENTO. Michael Attwater's inmate has filled the runner-up spot on his last two starts and compensation may be in the offing. Handicap debutant Lodge is a feasible alternative.

This is competitive but the vote goes to ASH WEDNESDAY who is on a workable mark on his return from a break and is 4-5 over C&D.

1st (1) (2/5 +25%)Hardstyle |
2/5(+25%) | (1) Hardstyle 2/5, Ran to form off a decent official mark when landing a handicap by 2 1/4l off a 6lb lower mark at Lingfield last time. Top course jockey booked. Suited by 8/9f and going away late last time, so further may bring more. Easy 1m win at Lingfield last week; down in trip/penalised but still an obvious candidate. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (33/1 +34%)Electrocution |
33/1(+34%) | (5) Electrocution 33/1, Outpaced and looking to need further when beaten 7l in a handicap at Lingfield last time. Usually held up and probably needs 1m or further; his form so far is fairly unreliable. Modest form to date but likely to do better at some point; betting to guide. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (10) (11/1 -10%)Blue Mountains |
11/1(-10%) | (10) Blue Mountains 11/1, Out-kicked after a wide trip but finished well when beaten 3 1/2l off this mark at Lingfield last time. Trainer in form. Effective over 7f, may yet stay 1m, and acts on AW. Last two runs were decent given poor trips. Latest effort (7f, Polytrack) was her best but this trip may prove too sharp. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (9/1 +64%)Sorted |
9/1(+64%) | (7) Sorted 9/1, Never in the race when beaten 9 1/2l in a novice here last time. Returning from a break and could progress now handicapping off lowly opening mark. Possible improver upped in trip and switched to a low-grade handicap; gelded since latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (11/1 +31%)Maynora |
11/1(+31%) | (3) Maynora 11/1, Ran close to form off a break in blinkers, beaten 8l in a handicap at Southwell last time. Cheekpieces go on for the first time. Suited by 6f and may come on a fraction for that return run. Presumably felt capable of better but hard to support on handicap efforts; new headgear. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (12/1 -50%)Miss Ayala |
12/1(-50%) | (9) Miss Ayala 12/1, Didn't get home having made a lot of use of her, beaten 5l in a handicap at Lingfield last time. Suited by 7f and acts on AW. Needs to get the fractions right when racing prominently. 7f AW win as a 2yo but quiet since and she has the widest stall to contend with. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (80/1 -142%)Resalah |
80/1(-142%) | (4) Resalah 80/1, Poor effort, perhaps wanting further when beaten 7l in a nursery here last time. Probably gets 7f, acts on AW, and her mark has been stiff in nurseries. Didn't progress for former yard and last of ten on debut for this one; best watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (2) (22/1 -10%)Ganthorpe |
22/1(-10%) | (2) Ganthorpe 22/1, Produced his best effort so far but still modest, comfortably held in a novice at Southwell last time. Sprint-bred and may be progressing now. Bred to be a bit better than this level; market to guide now up in trip for handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (8) (10/1 +0%)Fallacious Promise |
10/1(+0%) | (8) Fallacious Promise 10/1, Moderate effort, essentially outclassed by the first four when comfortably held in a novice at Lingfield last time. Bred to want 7f or further and has been moderate so far. Handicap newcomer; poor form in three runs but bred to do better; betting to guide. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (6) (25/1 -56%)Backfire |
25/1(-56%) | (6) Backfire 25/1, Ran roughly to form when stepped up in trip, beaten 9l in a novice here last time. Probably effective over 6/7f and acts on AW. Shown similar form on all three starts. Modest RPRs in three starts but has left the impression there's more to come; interesting. |

Given that most of these have questions to answer, the clear pick is HARDSTYLE after his victory at Lingfield last week. A 6lb penalty for that success should be workable as further improvement is likely. Blue Mountains was not disgraced when fourth on her latest outing and she could prove to be the main threat, ahead of Miss Ayala and Maynora.

Backfire should find a race off her lowly mark in the coming weeks but HARDSTYLE will be tough to crack after last week's easy win.

1st (1) (15/8 +75%)Master Dandy |
15/8(+75%) | (1) Master Dandy 15/8, Every chance, ran to form when fourth beaten 5l in a handicap at Chelmsford last time. Top course jockey booked. Suited by 6f and acts on all-weather. Official mark looks high enough. Better known as a 6f performer but ran quite well over 5f recently (raced wide). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (13/8 +19%)Colors Of Freedom |
13/8(+19%) | (3) Colors Of Freedom 13/8, Ran to form when beaten 1/2l off this mark here last time. Effective at 5f and acts on all-weather. Consistent of late and capable off this mark. Went close over C&D on Friday, finishing second for the fourth time in a row; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (9) (10/1 +17%)Second Collection |
10/1(+17%) | (9) Second Collection 10/1, Ran to form when fourth beaten 4 1/4l in a classified race here last time. From a top course trainer. Suited by 5f and acts on all-weather. Needs more to win. Very well suited by this C&D but it's over a year since the latest of her ten wins. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (66/1 -100%)She Went Whoosh |
66/1(-100%) | (6) She Went Whoosh 66/1, Outpaced and below form when beaten 4l in a classified race here last time. Drawn wide and effective at 5f. Acts on all-weather but has been out of form since spring win. Won off much higher mark last spring but recent efforts have been very disappointing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (15/2 +53%)Mister Mcgregor |
15/2(+53%) | (2) Mister Mcgregor 15/2, Far too free in front when beaten 10l in a handicap here last time. Effective at 6/7f and acts on all-weather. Likely to find this an inadequate test and remains out of form. Soundly beaten over 7f last time and now 0-19; opposable back at 5f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (7/1 +13%)Daley T |
7/1(+13%) | (7) Daley T 7/1, Too much to do after missing the break and meeting trouble when second beaten 4 1/4l in a handicap at Chelmsford last time. From a top course trainer. Effective at 5/6f on all-weather. Fair mark if building on recent revival, but risky. 0-17; belied 50-1 odds when second over 6f recently but overall profile unconvincing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (12/1 -20%)Rogue Endeavour |
12/1(-20%) | (8) Rogue Endeavour 12/1, Ran to current form when fourth beaten 3l in a classified race at Lingfield last time. Trainer in form. Effective at 6/7f and acts on all-weather. Remains out of form, cheekpieces back on. Returned from break with respectable run on Wednesday; could have a say. |

COLORS OF FREEDOM was narrowly denied when second at Wolverhampton on Friday and the six-year-old sets the standard on the back of that performance. A length back in third that day, Sultan Of Oj is an obvious danger as a first-time visor may spark some improvement. Master Dandy edges out Second Collection and Daley T to be the pick of the remainder.

Preference is for MASTER DANDY, who raced wide and ran better than the bare form suggests when recently dropped back to 5f.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
