GALACTIQUE struggled to make an impact in a Grade 2 at Cheltenham when last seen in November, but his two previous victories at Fontwell suggest that a mark of 117 should be workable on his handicap debut. His stablemate The Bellhop could prove to be the main danger following his own impressive success at Fontwell. Any market support for Bibe Mus on his debut for these connections should be noted, while Superkap is another to consider.

Up-and-coming trainer Max Comley saddles the filly ONLY ONE BLUE, who finished third against males in a warm race at Chepstow last time.

Although foiled in his follow-up bid, Lingfield scorer GATINEAU PARK lost little in defeat when conceding 7lb to a subsequent winner at Wincanton. The six-year-old should take all the beating if performing to a similar level and gets the vote over Tashkhan. Brian Ellison's inmate arrives on the back of a respectable third in a Grade 2 at Haydock and is likely to be involved. Out Of The Woods is the pick of the remainder.

The class act here is Tashkhan (second choice) but the one with the greater scope over hurdles may be GATINEAU PARK.

Braganza Bay could only manage fourth over track and trip in December, but lurks on a workable mark so is one to keep an eye on. However, WELCHESTON WARRIER finished a long way clear of the third when filling the runner-up spot at Lingfield and goes off an unchanged rating. The six-year-old sports first-time cheekpieces and with the Clive Boultbee-Brooks yard in fine form, he looks the one to beat. Jack The Savage completes the shortlist.

The most attractive profile belongs to WELCHESTON WARRIER who promises to be well suited by this step up in distance.

In another wide-open renewal of this valuable contest, marginal preference is for KAKA'S COUSIN. The six-year-old took a big step forward when readily winning at Kelso a month ago and, given that the second has subsequently filled the same position at Grade 2 level, a mark of 126 may underestimate his ability. Scorpio Rising won a similar event at Windsor in January and is likely to be in the mix once again. Laguna Beach is a handicap debutant to note, while Draco Malfoy completes the shortlist.

Plenty of these are still unexposed but UNKNOWN ENTITY can come into his own now stepped back up in distance and tops the list.

In front when falling at the last on hurdling debut at Cork, MANOIR DE MIRANDE went too hard when disappointing at Leopardstown over Christmas. Gordon Elliott's runner bounced back to form when second to a useful prospect here three weeks ago and his mark of 124 makes him the one to beat in a maiden which lacks depth. Bulgaden Castle has been placed in his last three hurdle races, but is rated 9lb lower than the selection and may not be suited by testing ground. Minella Boss, hooded for his last two starts and now tried in a tongue-tie, made a bold bid from the front when second at Punchestown.

Not too many with an obvious chance in here but BULGADEN CASTLE has improved with each run and can gain a deserved victory

A 4lb rise from the assessor looks more than fair for the six-year-old and reverting to Tapeta shouldn't hamper his bid. Kullazain has been in good form since undergoing a gelding procedure and he may serve the most resistance to the selection, ahead of Silky Wilkie.

Knebworth and KULLAZAIN appeal most and the latter can prove he is still a well-handicapped sprinter.

Successful in three of his five outings over fences, One Mill Harbour shaped better than the bare form over an extended 2m4f here last time out. The drop in distance looks ideal and he isn't taken lightly, but NETYWELL is a shade more compelling. The top-weight returned to form with a fair fourth over C&D and a 2lb drop in the ratings may prove fruitful. Dance Thief could fare best of the rest.

None of these can be said to be firing at present but at least BALLYFORT has won twice this term. He has most to fear from Netywell.

Neon Dream has had a wind operation since his third at Kempton last month and he sets the standard with a rating of 118, but the vote goes to CHASING GLANCE. The point-to-point winner progressed from his first outing under Rules to take the silver medal home at Warwick and, with further improvement likely, he could be the one to beat. Pigeon Forge is another to watch out for.

Alan King's NEON DREAM shaped with plenty of promise on his hurdling debut and a wind operation can help him bounce back to that level.

Having won the last two renewals, Go Dante has to be respected and a wind operation since his last run may help his chances. That said, preference is for MONDO MAN, who was fourth off this mark in a very competitive handicap at Ascot before Christmas and has subsequently bolted up in a maiden hurdle at Plumpton. Wreckless Eric and Afadil made the frame 12 months ago and shouldn't be far away, with Rubber Ball and General Briar also firmly in contention.

Preference is for the novice TOP JIMMY (nap), who shaped over 2m4f at Windsor as though this drop back in trip could be a good move.

Anthony McCann saddled the winner of this maiden a year ago and Shesakindofmagic, who was useful in bumpers, has claims on her second to a highly-rated rival at Fairyhouse in early January. She couldn't build on that, though, when well behind the selection at the same venue last time. Rebel Queen showed promise here on debut and has place claims.

However, a 6lb hike does demand more of Andrew Balding's charge and LA BOTTE may prove slightly better handicapped. The four-year-old was last seen finishing a close-up second in the Britannia and a similar performance might prove good enough. First Principle and Kingdom Come are others of interest.

A good renewal of the Lincoln Trial and THE LOST KING (nap) is fancied to prove he is still nicely ahead of his mark.

Henry Daly's mare has been given plenty of time to get over that defeat and she's fancied to resume her progress given this greater emphasis on stamina. Tread Softly Now caught the eye when reaching the frame at Sedgefield and rates the biggest danger, ahead of Fox's Fancy.

A 2lb rise probably won't stop BOLLIN MATILDA if she's able to replicate the form of last month's clear second at Musselburgh.

Homme D'Un Soir can beat Uncle Phil home for third.

The Flaggy Shore was well supported ahead of her Market Rasen assignment in similar company, but she was a bit disappointing in the end to only finish second to Malina Road and that form took a knock at Newbury recently. Carlisle winner Lune Brillante is surely better than her Huntingdon showing and is noted, but point-to-point scorer BURDS OF A FEATHER could be anything judged on her sparkling Rules debut at Warwick and she gets the nod.

This looks the time to catch GIDGE who is first choice ahead of Millstatt Abbey. Plenty of the others have possibilities.

The five-year-old, in common with his four winning siblings, handles testing conditions and Gavin Cromwell's yard seems to be returning to form. Mon Sheriffe, placed at Navan on his penultimate start, was too keen before dropping away at Naas last time and a hood may help him to settle better. Paradise Lost was only beaten two lengths when fifth at Punchestown, while locally-trained veteran Rebel Gold has run well in two similar contests since reverting to this discipline off his lower hurdles mark and has place claims again.

It could pay to take a chance with ROYAL SOLDIER who makes his handicap debut. Paradise Lost is one of the more obvious contenders

Boasting an official rating of 108, COOL HOOF LUKE looks more than capable of scoring at this level. The 2024 Gimcrack hero returned from a lengthy layoff to finish third at Lingfield and any natural improvement should make him tough to beat. Ferrous has done little wrong on Polytrack of late and a switch of surface shouldn't prevent another good account. Jack Channon's gelding is feared most, ahead of Marshman.

Cool Hoof Luke has strong claims but Palmar Bay and PRINCE OF INDIA are progressive and the selection should have more to come.

The progressive six-year-old landed a handicap in testing ground at Kelso in resolute fashion and his yard has won two of the three previous renewals. His new stable companion Litleangel Duseuil is a hurdles winner in France and could also shape well.

A 2lb drop in the ratings can only help Nicky Henderson's mare and a breakthrough victory may beckon. Although Conniemak was beaten a long way from home at Warwick, a reproduction of her previous third over C&D would make her a live threat. Handicap debutant Hey Flint is another of interest.

That was his first run of the season and, given he's open to stacks more improvement, he can be expected to play a prominent role. Bucksy Des Epeires is more experienced over the larger obstacles and comes in here on the back of win too, at Ludlow, so is also taken seriously. Welcom To Cartries makes some each-way appeal at the forecast prices.

Calimystic is much respected but TUNE IN A BOX is thrown in on his best hurdling form and now looks ready to strike.

He handles testing ground and should go well. Minority Interest won here a day earlier than the selection and may be able to bounce back from a disappointing effort at Punchestown. Sky And Sand was a creditable fifth over this trip on heavy ground at Fairyhouse and can come forward from that, while Doing It In Style ran well in a maiden at Christmas and is one to consider on handicap debut.

The son of Space Blues should take all the beating if seeing out the rise in distance and he's difficult to oppose. Newcomer Showcasing Star is a potential fly in the ointment and is preferred to Claytons Kolatonic.

CLASSIC MAESTRO failed to complete in the Grade 1 Ascot Chase last month, but this is more his level. Jennie Candlish's charge found only subsequent Grade 2 winner Jax Junior too good in a competitive handicap at Sandown in January and a repeat effort here should see him bang there at the finish. Ned Tanner won this last year off a 2lb higher mark and could bounce back, while Primoz is preferred of the rest.

Second to a smart sort in a Sandown handicap two starts ago, CLASSIC MAESTRO (nap) can easily be excused his subsequent Grade 1 defeat.

The ground may have been a touch too soft for Golan Loop when he was pulled up at Wincanton and he must enter calculations reverting to the scene of his last victory. Warren Greatrex's inmate is dangerous to dismiss, but BECTIVE ABBEY is a shade more compelling. The eight-year-old arrives on the back of a good second in a class 3 contest at Kempton and a 2lb rise may prove lenient. Gris Majeur is the pick of the rest.

Mountain Mike should come on for his reappearance but preference is for BECTIVE ABBEY, whose latest Kempton second is solid form.

Soldierofthestorm made a pleasing start to life over fences when second at Hereford in January and there should be more to come, but it's hard to get away from MR HOPE STREET. Dan Skelton's gelding finished behind The Jukebox Man at Haydock most recently and that form makes a mark of 131 look workable, so he looks the way to go. Just Over Land is another to consider.

The handicapper has taken a bit of a chance letting MR HOPE STREET back into a handicap off 131. Captain Bellamy can chase him home.

The winner of this race 12 months ago, Champagne Mahler warrants the utmost respect, while others for the shortlist are More Coko in a first-time tongue-strap, Down Royal winner Anotherway and Gordon Elliott's Jigoro.

Jimmy Moffatt's mare finished second in heavy conditions at Newcastle in January and now sports a tongue-tie/cheekpieces combination for the first time, with Brian Hughes booked. Coylton King still had every chance when unseating at the last over C&D and isn't ruled out either.

Henry Daly's BRIERY BUTTERFLY has a very solid record this season and is taken to get her first win on the board.

That was her first start since the summer, so she clearly goes well fresh, and it looks worth keeping on the right side of Alan King's mare. East End Girl has had a spin on the all-weather since placing here in December and she could prove competitive, while Land Girl's Luck drops in distance with a shout off her current mark.

After a disappointing defeat at Windsor, NORN IRON made amends when sporting a first-time tongue-tie over track and trip in January. Harry Derham's eight-year-old has an 8lb higher mark to contend with but, considering the manner of that success, he looks the one to beat. Toothless rarely runs a bad race and a repeat of his second at Ludlow gives him a chance, while First Angel is far from out of it either.

The form of NORN IRON's win over C&D in January received a firm boost when the runner-up went one better next time. He earns the vote.

Sophie Carter got a good tune out of LETS GO CHAMP at Oldtown a fortnight ago and the pair might be able to follow up on that success in this long-standing contest. Previously in the care of Henry De Bromhead and the winner of a Grade 3 at the Punchestown Festival of 2024, the now 11-year-old clearly retains plenty of ability and should relish the testing conditions. Second and third to a leading Cheltenham contender at Naas last month, Hunters Yarn and Ryehill are the dangers. The Pat Doyle-trained former has won three point-to-points this season and will be ably assisted by Adam Ryan. First-time cheekpieces might have the desired effect on the aforementioned Ryehill, while Macs Charm, who was a solid eighth in last year's Thyestes, is the most interesting of the remainder.

Popton Point is unbeaten in two starts and is an exciting prospect, but she might find it tough to give weight away to JET OF STARS. The five-year-old won his sole point-to-point outing and changed hands for 230,000 pounds in March last year. The booking of Brian Hughes is noteworthy and he looks the one to side with. Dundee Law is from the family of Punjabi and must not be dismissed lightly.

ONE DIMENSIONAL is going the right way based on last month's promising second at Ascot. She likely has plenty more to offer and Max Comley's mare could prove too strong. Third in both previous starts, including at Ludlow on her return from an absence, Seven Stars warrants plenty of respect, while Sedgefield runner-up Eskylady can also make her presence felt after undergoing wind surgery.

Grade-dropper ONE DIMENSIONAL may need the race to pan out favourably but she otherwise has a great chance on the figures.

Winning the last three editions, the master of Closutton can continue his recent dominance with DROMARD. A French-bred son of Doctor Dino, he is from the family of Le Miracle, the winner of the Prix du Cadran in 2007, beating the mighty Yeats into third. Running his best race to date when a runner-up over flights at Fairyhouse on New Year's Day, Reckless is the second choice. Clearly well fancied when 7/4 on debut, Pinndar failed to make an impact on that occasion and it'll be interesting to see how he fares today. A solid fifth when last seen at Limerick, Line Speed can't be discounted, while newcomers Double Dare and Daily Devotion are others who warrant respect.

Karl Burke's charge cannot be overlooked, but ELEMENTS OF FIRE is slightly more appealing going handicapping for the first time on the back of a Lingfield novice win, when he kept his unbeaten all-weather record intact. Captain Parma is another to note.

DESDEMONA hit the crossbar twice, including behind the bang in-form Beauzon, before going one better in emphatic fashion at Lingfield. A 5lb rise still leaves her well treated compared to the peak of her powers and she can strike again while the iron is hot. Buraback took a step back in the right direction when runner-up over C&D and that form was boosted when the winner followed up. Top Star was a solid second at Southwell, although that form doesn't appear quite as strong.

This can go to BURABACK (nap), who boasts a good record both over C&D and in March down the seasons. Desdemona is next best.

Royal Jet's winning spree was brought to an end at Lingfield last week and although that second arguably matched the level of his previous performances, a further 2lb rise does demand more. ANTIQUITY has gone up 4lb after justifying favouritism at the same venue, but he appeared to have something in hand and is the one taken to defy the handicapper. H Key Lails has held his form well, while Renesmee burst back into life when just denied at Wolverhampton.

Antiquity arrives in form, but ROYAL JET's last two efforts have suggested this mark should be within range.
