A major eyecatcher on her second run for the Gosdens when narrowly denied in the Snowdrop at Kempton, CRIMSON ADVOCATE is likely to have plenty more improvement forthcoming at this distance and she can go one better. A consistent sort last season, which included a Listed success at Newmarket, Sirona is expected to be thereabouts on her return to action. Bright Thunder should come on for a respectable effort in Group 3 company at the Curragh, while course winner Chic Colombine cannot be ruled out either.

Dual Listed winner SIRONA (nap) has leading claims on her best form and she may be able to defy top weight on her return to action.

Under The Radar (fourth) and DACRES CROSS (fifth) both shaped with promise on debut at Pontefract. However, the latter gets the vote having finished his race off particularly well and Kevin Ryan's colt may have a fair amount of improvement to come. Haberdash finished last in the aforementioned contest, but stepped forward under more positive tactics at Beverley and a repeat of those might see him make a nuisance of himself.

Not in action since lading the Golden Gates Stakes at Royal Ascot last June, HAND OF GOD has all the potential to progress into a Group performer this season. Ryan Moore getting back on board suggests connections mean business and it may be top-weight Arabian Light who gives him the most to think about, having scored comfortably over this trip at Meydan in February. Another gelding who could have lofty aspirations this season is Approval, who got up late to score in a valuable handicap at Goodwood last August.

Having bagged two notable prizes since switched to handicap level, HAND OF GOD holds the strongest claims. Approval is second pick.

CHEMICAL ENERGY held every chance approaching the last in Cheltenham's cross-country event before fading on the run-in. That was his best effort since his third in the Munster National at Limerick and the return to 3m, combined with drying ground, is fancied to help the nine-year-old back to winning ways. Conflated and Coko Beach were both pulled up in the Grand National, but they will find this a much easier assignment and help give Gordon Elliott a particularly strong hand, especially if those who contested the La Touche on Thursday aren't turned out quickly.

Northern Express enjoyed a solid campaign last year, which included landing a valuable handicap at Ascot in July, and it wouldn't be surprising if the seven-year-old went close to replicating his 2023 success in this contest. Our Havana scored at Musselburgh last month, when ridden more patiently than the time before at Doncaster, but a chance is taken with OBELIX. The five-year-old shaped well on his comeback when fourth here over 7f and the return to a mile is likely to bring about improvement.

The drop in grade could prove liberating for FLIGHT PLAN and Hi Royal, with the former preferred.

A winner over hurdles at Stratford on his penultimate outing, BELIEVITANDUCAN showed plenty of promise on his return to the level when second at Kempton. Alan King's charge is only 4lb higher than for his success at Beverley last summer and he gets the vote ahead of Mr Hampstead, who contested the 2024 Derby and has been gelded since finishing third at Nottingham in October. A determined winner when going off a big price at Lingfield, Tides Of War may have more to come off 4lb higher.

Headgear is something new for him, as is this track, but BELIEVEITANDUCAN otherwise appears to have solid claims.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS landed the Abernant here last April before going on to contest a number of top sprints including the Nunthorpe. Off the track for 133 days prior to finishing second in a Group 3 in Qatar in February, Kevin Ryan's charge could step forward and, given his liking for this venue, it would come as no surprise if he did the business. This went to a three-year-old 12 months ago and Tropical Storm, who represents a stable in tremendous form, must be respected. No Half Measures is noted too.

There was dramatic improvement from NO HALF MEASURES last year and the limited evidence suggests she isn't too ground-dependent.

HASTHING has failed to complete in his last two starts but has had a productive season. He has been gradually upped in distance this term and while yet to win beyond 2m6f, was running well before falling in Cheltenham's National Hunt Chase in March. He held just place-prospects then but the winner notably landed the subsequent Irish National. Answer To Kayf was well beaten at Cheltenham and while his form is mostly on testing ground, finished second on good-to-yielding at last year's festival and today's distance could bring about plenty of improvement. Herakles Westwood finished seventh behind the selection at Cheltenham and stays well, while The Short Go likes good ground but will need to jump better than he did in the Ultima.

Last year's runner up YOUR OWN STORY has probably had this as a long-term target and he may be able to go one place better.

However, a chance can be taken on ABLOOM, who is a half-sister to a Grade 3 winner in Japan and goes for the in-form William Haggas team. The daughter of Night Of Thunder may be up to the task at the first time of asking, while Nakaaha is another to consider after her second at Southwell at the end of 2024.

SPIRIT OF ALBION shaped with promise in a trio of maiden events last season and he made a pleasing return in behind the two market principals at Epsom. The gelded son of Invincible Spirit sets a decent standard with an official rating of 78 and, if stepping forward from that reappearance, he could be hard to beat. William Haggas has started the season in excellent form so debutant Tsuki must enter calculations, along with Fantasmic, who finished a creditable third at Lingfield on her racecourse bow.

This can go to SPIRIT OF ALBION, who has a progressive four-race profile and sets a good standard back in calmer waters.

Expanded recorded a gutsy debut success before once again showing those battling qualities when second in the Dewhurst behind Shadow Of Light. The son of Wootton Bassett is Ballydoyle's sole representative this year akin to the classy City Of Troy 12 months ago, and he merits respect in his bid to provide Aidan O'Brien with an 11th success in this prestigious event. That being said, it was hard not to be impressed with the way in which FIELD OF GOLD won the Craven last month. The Kingman colt looks a potential star in the making for team Gosden. William Buick opts to ride Ruling Court and that is noteworthy, while others to consider include Green Impact and Wimbledon Hawkeye.

Ruling Court is a very tempting option but preference is for FIELD OF GOLD (nap), who could be a superstar in the making.

BRIGHTERDAYSAHEAD failed to live up to expectations in the Champion Hurdle but that appeared too bad to be true and she is expected to bounce back. Gordon Elliott's mare routed her rivals at Leopardstown last Christmas and anything near that kind of performance will suffice. Jade De Grugy was no match for Lossiemouth in the Mares' Hurdle but may be the one to take advantage if the selection doesn't run to her best. July Flower ran satisfactorily at Cheltenham and is better judged on her Leopardstown success at Christmas.

A straightforward task for BRIGHTERDAYSAHEAD and the top-class mare can bounce back from a below-par effort in the Champion Hurdle

TOBY TOPS supplemented his Southwell triumph with an easy victory at Nottingham and a 6lb rise may underestimate the authority he showed that day. If the four-year-old remains in similar form, he will prove tough to stop. Savrola found the gaps when it mattered to get up by a neck at Musselburgh when last seen and would be dangerous to dismiss on his return. Last-time-out Pontefract scorer Letmeseethecolts is another to note.

Perhaps best to focus on thriving 4yos Toby Tops and LETMESEETHECOLTS, with preference for the latter.

This is competitive and only a tentative vote can go to DUAL IDENTITY. William Knight's gelding finished a creditable seventh in the Lincoln on his reappearance, but returning to further will suit and although he has yet to defy a mark this high, last season's peak efforts would suggest it should be no barrier to success. C&D winner Sir Lowry's Pass hit the woodwork at Newbury when last seen in October and the low-mileage colt merits respect from 3lb higher. Qitaal, who was narrowly denied in this 12 months ago, is also noted.

KNIGHTSWOOD went winless last term but having struck the woodwork at Thirsk on his reappearance, he made no mistake when recording a narrow success at Ripon last time. Charlie Johnston's gelding was worth more than the winning margin suggests that day and, off 3lb higher, he may well repeat the dose. El Cordobes finished second in a couple of handicaps at Meydan earlier in the year and there should be more to come. He'll need improvement to defy this lofty rating, though, and it could be that French Master is the bigger threat.

They don't have the best form claims but the lightly raced Frankel 4yos FRENCH MASTER and El Cordobes possess the potential.

TRUSTINTIMES got off the mark when taking a bumper at Kempton in March and it would be no surprise to see Harry Fry's gelding follow up on his hurdling debut. Settle Down Jill struggled in a Listed event at Cheltenham last month but could bounce back at this lower level, while Frontier Prince and Bongo Man are others who merit consideration.

A strict interpretation of her bumper second at Warwick gives SETTLE DOWN JILL the beating of Frontier Prince.

The lightly-raced MAJESTIC FORCE seems fairly treated on handicap chase debut. A staying chaser-type, she was beaten just a half-length by Grade 1 winner Spindleberry last December before scoring quite readily at Wexford in March and further improvement appears likely. Stablemate Amirite notably finished ahead of Wednesday's winner James Du Berlais in the Topham at Aintree and being well suited by good ground, should also be competitive. Canal End is 9lb higher than when winning at Navan but would prefer easier ground, while Battle It Out is 7lb higher than at Fairyhouse, despite a bad mistake at the final fence.

Amirite was 4th in the Topham and the 5th has boosted the form here this week, but stablemate MAJESTIC FORCE is of serious interest

Media Shooter improved for the application of cheekpieces when scoring well at Musselburgh on his final start of last season and could have a say on his return to the fray. However, MAKANAH hit the crossbar in a stronger event at Newcastle in November and was possibly unlucky not to win because of his troubled passage. The 10-year-old can go well fresh and is taken to record a second course success. Secret Guest is the pick of the remainder.

BARON DE MIDLETON occupied the runner-up berth in a class 2 handicap at Kelso two starts ago and, if the 12-year-old runs anywhere near that level, he will prove very hard to beat. Jubilee Gold finished a fair third over 2m3f at Taunton last week and is likely to be thereabouts, while Kopa Kilana is another to watch out for.

This is a tricky race but JUBILEE GOLD ought to be suited by this stiff 2m on good or faster ground and is arguably the safest option.

CAVOLO NERO ran with plenty of credit on his handicap bow at Newmarket's Craven meeting behind a progressive type in Power Fizz, who runs in the 5.05. The extra furlong is unlikely to pose any concerns, with his dam Listed-placed over 1m2f, and a 2lb rise seems fair for James Ferguson's gelding. A short head separated Criminal Shore and Last Shamardal at Ripon last month and the latter has every chance of reversing the form on 1lb better terms. Enrolled completes the shortlist.

AMERICAN STYLE seems to have benefited from a wind operation over the winter judging by his seasonal debut success at Ripon a couple of weeks ago. With the promise of more to come, Kevin Ryan's gelding merits respect off a 4lb higher mark. So Darn Hot got no luck in running at Newcastle last time and could easily bounce back here. Invictus Gold was placed in a similar C&D event last month and may make the frame once again.

SALLEY GARDENS only had two rivals to beat at Southwell last time but he did it very impressively and Olly Murphy's nine-year-old sets the standard off just 4lb higher here. High Moon was not disgraced when third at Kelso most recently and he could make the frame once again, while Diplomatic Ash should not be underestimated despite an underwhelming effort when last seen.

A tight handicap in which all five have chances. OPENING BID has a lot in his favour if on song for his first run since November.

There didn't look to be any fluke about the way that PONIROS won the Triumph Hurdle at Cheltenham and the Golden Horn gelding appears to have a serious engine. He stayed on powerfully up the hill to prevail by a neck from Lulamba, making a stunning start over hurdles. He can only improve from that experience and is taken to confirm the form. Lulamba was making his fourth start over jumps at Cheltenham and did little wrong. He met some traffic after the second-last, but it didn't look to have any bearing on the result. Murcia was impressive when winning the Grade 1 at Aintree and that was an improved effort. She also has to enter calculations.

LULAMBA was arguably a shade unlucky when finishing a neck second behind Poniros in the Triumph and he could turn the form around

MON NA SLIEVE faced a tougher assignment when fourth at Musselburgh a fortnight ago, although he acquitted himself well having led for most of the way. Successful in this lower grade before that, Kevin Ryan's sprinter has the scope to rate higher and a bold bid is anticipated. Hiya Maite went close at Southwell in March and he can feature, while Tinto won over 6f at the track on a couple of occasions last year and could land a blow.

Alligator Alley can go well but everything looks in place for a big run from READY FREDDIE GO (nap) who can record a sixth C&D win.

DESTINATION DUBAI has taken a step forward with each of his three bumper starts, with his best effort coming when taking the silver medal home in a Grade 2 at Aintree. The six-year-old now makes his first start over hurdles and is tough to oppose. Saxon Star showed more when third at Newcastle on her jumping bow and may improve for the application of blinkers. Of the remainder, newcomer Flat Jack makes the most appeal.

This looks an excellent opportunity for Grade 2 bumper runner-up DESTINATION DUBAI to make a winning start over hurdles.

POWER FIZZ has steadily improved with racing and William Haggas' colt boasts strong credentials in his bid for a hat-trick. A maiden win at Newcastle in January was followed by a comfortable triumph at Newmarket on his handicap debut and the manner of that performance suggested a 7lb rise is unlikely to be a concern. Philanthropist commands respect off a 4lb higher mark than his return success at Southwell. Others to note include Shameful and Brighton Boy.

Consolidation is one of several with serious claims but the twice-raced SHAMEFUL may be the least exposed of all.

HOT DANCER struggled in a much stronger event on his seasonal return at Musselburgh a couple of weeks ago, but Charlie Johnston's colt showed promise as a juvenile and can be given another chance in a race of this nature. Take A Breath should not be underestimated on her first start in handicap company, while It'sneverjustone edges out Shimaleyah and Patsy Snugfit to be best of the rest.

William Haggas's TAKE A BREATH showed promise in all three starts last autumn and looks capable of even better judged on her pedigree.

White Crown Star filled second place in a similar C&D contest on his handicap debut last month and Andrew Balding's colt has to be of interest on the back of that performance. That said, marginal preference is for HUNKY DORY, who was third in a decent novice event at Kempton on his final start last year and that form suggests that an opening mark of 74 should be workable for the son of Pinatubo. Cases can be made for plenty of the remainder, but Beronia and Rogue Diplomat stand out the most.

Judged on the strength of her 2yo maiden form, ROCKIN' THE BOAT looks particularly interesting. Hunky Dory is second choice.

IZZY'S GREY filled second place over this trip at Bangor three weeks ago and that followed another placed effort at the same venue. On that evidence, the six-year-old could take plenty of stopping here. That said, She Has Notions may give the selection plenty to think about following her third at Newton Abbot, while Star Vantage is another with strong form claims.

HEY SUNSHINE is interesting here back in a handicap. Testing conditions wouldn't have suited when she was pitched into Grade 1 company at Fairyhouse last time and she remains unexposed. The Shantou mare had rattled off a hat-trick on better ground previously and could still have a bit up her sleeve off a mark of 130. Aintree winner Wellington Arch looks a leading contender. He held off Kopeck De Mee in a good finish in Liverpool and, despite a 7lb rise, should still be competitive. Impose Toi, who was fourth in that Aintree race, is another to consider on the revised terms.

The former is preferred, given he remains unexposed on the grass, but it could be the turn of COSMOS RAJ today. Shakeyatailfeather prevailed by a short head to record a quickfire double at Plumpton and should remain competitive off 4lb higher. However, FIRST STREET filled the runner-up spot in this class at Kempton in March and the assessor may have given the eight-year-old a chance by dropping him 1lb for that effort. With Brian Hughes booked, it would be no surprise to see him get off the mark over fences. Coqolino isn't out of it either.

Archivist sets a decent standard having chased home some useful rivals on his last four starts. However, he could be vulnerable once again and marginal preference is for MISTER RIZZ. The son of Lope De Vega chased home the subsequent Esher Cup winner Fifth Column on his debut at Kempton a month ago and Ed Walker's colt could be hard to stop with the benefit of that experience. Ritaan cost 300,000gns as a yearling and any market support for her would have to be noted.

Archivist deserves to win a race, but MISTER RIZZ looked like a winner waiting to happen when runner-up on his Kempton debut.

The four-year-old faces a tougher task here, but he may still have more to offer and a 4lb rise appears to be fair. Crack Shot showed promise when third on his debut for these connections at Kempton recently and he should not be discounted. Others to consider are Dolce Courage, Mr Baloo and Cogitate.

He was an impressive winner at Stratford previously and can defy a hike in the weights given the ease of that success. Sedgefield winner Klitschko was well beaten at Perth and has a bit to prove in this higher grade, although the return to good ground will suit. Horn Cape was narrowly denied in this contest last year and is worthy of a second glance.

Four-time course winner WELL EDUCATED (nap) shaped quite well in a valuable race last month and is back on a good mark now.

NAKEEB confirmed the promise that he displayed on debut at Newmarket last October when filling second place at the same venue last month. A reproduction of either of those efforts would give him a big chance in this company. Competizione was behind the selection on his racecourse bow and could get closer with a tongue-tie now applied. Blue Lancero wouldn't have to be a superstar to make the frame on his first outing.

The market should be revealing regarding the newcomers, but NAKEEB sets a useful standard having been placed in two Newmarket maidens.

The Harry Derham stable can do little wrong at present, and MONVIEL looks more than capable of following up on a taking success at Ffos Las last month. A 5lb rise may prove lenient for a gelding that has run off higher marks in the past, and he is preferred West To The Bridge, who bounced back to form himself with a comfortable success at Wetherby in February. Punta Del Este and Tune In A Box have the form to get involved in proceedings as well.

Some of these would prefer softer ground but MONVIEL reportedly appreciated the drying conditions when coming clear at Ffos Las.

Dark Note is a solid performer and looks nicely weighted. SIDE STEPPER showed significant improvement from first to second start over fences when runner-up over 3m1f at Hereford last time out and this appeals an ideal opportunity to get off the mark. A promising second on both his chase debut and first start for new connections at Taunton, McGregors Charge is entitled to come on for that effort, while Giveupyerauldsins is another to consider on the back of a creditable runner-up effort at Newcastle in March.

An open race. GIVEUPYERAULDSINS moved well for a long way on her chase debut and could have the most potential of these.

ROGUE DANCER is two from two since competing in the handicap ranks and she was arguably worth more than the winning margin suggests at Wolverhampton last month. Jack Jones' filly will need to prove as effective on turf but, if doing so, she could prove hard to beat. Chuti Manika hit the woodwork at Ripon on his most recent start and should remain competitive, while Up The Clarets is another to keep an eye on.

Chuti Manika and Rogue Dancer are feared but the vote goes to TRUST SERGEI who receives lumps of weight all round.

HIGHWAY ONE O FIVE was given a patient ride by Freddie Gordon when scoring over 2m3f at Warwick recently and should the young conditional adopt similar tactics here, a 3lb rise shouldn't be any barrier to further success. Seraphic won on the level last time out but had previously gone close at Hereford from 3lb lower in March. He's the biggest threat to the selection, although Victory Club can't be written off.
