(6) Social Exclusion 16/1, Knew job, drew clear and eased late when 3l winner in a maiden at Southwell on debut; that looked a modest race and probably not big improver, but sharp sort
Southwell form has taken knocks but she was much the best and is open to progress.
LTO Selection:hiden content, hiden content, hiden content, hiden content

ALI SHUFFLE is two from two after carrying a penalty to score by just under a length from subsequent winner Argentine Tango at Beverley and she may have lots more to offer from the plum draw in stall one. Impressive Southwell scorer Social Exclusion displayed plenty of speed and that may prove vital from a wider draw in the early stages. She is likely to enter calculations along with Miss Piggle, who also made a winning debut at the Nottinghamshire venue.

Dual winner ALI SHUFFLE is the pick on form and she couldn't have fared any better with the draw. Miss Piggle is second choice.

Back to form with an easy success at Perth last time out after a respectable second over C&D before that, HELTENHAM sets the standard, and he still looks well-treated on old form. Yes Indeed has been on a roll since joining the Martin Keighley stable, and stepping up in trip could bring about further improvement in the eight-year-old. A promising runner-up at Chepstow last time out, Light N Strike is capable of being in the shake-up, along with Excello.

Ready preference is for LIGHT N STRIKE, who finished well from a long way off the pace for a clear second at Chepstow recently.

LTO Selection:hiden content, hiden content, hiden content, hiden content

Blinky bids to stay unbeaten since switching to the Antony Brittain yard, but he will need to transfer his recent form to turf so REDORANGE gets the nod. Clive Cox's three-year-old showed plenty of speed when attempting to make all at Sandown, only to fade into third in the closing stages. With a similar effort and with that return under his belt, he will prove tough to beat. Mission Command isn't out of it either.

Being a progressive sort who has a good draw, REDORANGE (nap) holds particularly strong claims. Blinky is second pick.

It is difficult to look past the Dan Skelton-trained ROXANNE, who impressed when scoring on her hurdles debut at Ayr last month. Formerly with Ed Dunlop on the level, the five-year-old should enjoy this ground and she is preferred to Roadshow, who hasn't exactly set the world alight since arriving from France but his stable has an excellent record here. Ben Lomond and Moves Like Mason cannot be ruled out either.

This ought to be straightforward for ROXANNE, who was fairly useful on the Flat and won on her recent hurdle debut.

EDGEWELL appreciated the switch back to hurdles at the start of the year, winning at Southwell and Fakenham before struggling in a series final at Musselburgh. The drop in grade represents a fine opportunity for Rebecca Menzies' gelding to bounce back on this occasion. Our Girl Sal is entitled to step forward from her fifth here last month, while Wee Alki's third at Perth gives him every chance of being in the mix.

In an open race a chance is taken on LEADER WING, who has been running well recently and steps up to this trip for the first time.

Minnie Hauk, who cost 1,850,000 euros as a yearling, shed her maiden tag at the second time of asking at Leopardstown in October and Aidan O'Brien certainly knows the right type for this, so she has to be respected. However, THAT'S AMORE is preferred because she made a deep impression when scoring on debut at Newbury and should have any amount of improvement to come. Secret Of Love finished second in Listed company when last seen and is another to consider.

Aidan O'Brien's MINNIE HAUK could take the greatest step forward. That's Amore had a bit of stardust when waltzing home at Newbury.

Despite a brief scare, GWENNIE MAY JEM always appeared in control when seeing off El Rojo Grande at Warwick last time out and, despite a 6lb pull at the weights for the runner-up on this occasion, Dan Skelton's charge is taken to follow up. Crac De Megaudais would have strong claims if bouncing back to the form of his success at Fakenham in January.

Recent Warwick winner GWENNIE MAY JEM can confirm superiority over the reopposing El Rojo Grande here.

HE'S A DIAMOND had valid excuses for his latest effort at Carlisle when reported not to have handled the track and is better judged on his 13-length success at Market Rasen the time before. A repeat of that performance would make him difficult to oppose. Just Oot has shown promise on both hurdle starts, although the step up in trip could be a slight concern. With that in mind, Blazing Court, a chase winner over 2m4f at Worcester, may pose the strongest threat.

Preference is for JUST OOT, who has shown clear promise in his two hurdle runs and is open to more progress on this step up in trip.

Novice winners Convergent and Pinhole are others to note.

SWEET CARYLINE made the frame in this class at Exeter in March and has been dropped 1lb. Mairis Icon occupied the runner-up berth in a warmer contest at Wincanton and should remain competitive, while Asian Spice sports first-time cheekpieces and is another to consider.

This looks good for CLEAR STORM (nap), who lost out only narrowly over C&D on her stable debut and is back on better ground today.

KILMORE ROCK made every yard of the running to score by the smallest of margins at Carlisle and is just 4lb higher. Susan Corbett's six-year-old makes only his fifth handicap start and may have more to offer. Magic Wave was successful in a stronger contest over 2m5f here last month and holds an obvious chance, while Half Shot is another to keep an eye on.

In a competitive race, ASHINGTON is taken to return to form on a track and ground that suit him well. Kilmore Rock is next best.

SEA SUITE was only beaten four lengths into fourth on his racecourse debut at Kempton last month and that form has worked out well. Stepping up in trip along with a switch to turf is likely to suit the son of Sea The Stars so, if handling the track, he could go close. Marnier made a pleasing introduction when finishing third at Newbury and he merits respect. Daiquiri Bay is just one more to consider.

The most striking promise seems to belong to last month's Newbury third MARNIER, ahead of Mister Winston and Sea Suite.

AL SAYAH finished well clear of the third when beaten a length at Exeter and is just 3lb higher. If the five-year-old can run to a similar level, she could be the one to beat. Preference is for last month's C&D winner IRIS DES ISSARDS, who certainly does not look harshly treated by a 4lb rise.

A competitive event in which only a tentative vote can go to SPIRIT GENIE, whose latest Musselburgh performance was more encouraging than his Doncaster reappearance. The five-year-old doesn't have much leeway from his current rating, but he's back on his last winning mark and given that he's yet to run a poor race on the Roodee and is a C&D winner, he might be worth chancing. Catterick scorer Monsieur Fudge remains of interest back in a handicap. Billyb should appreciate a return to turf.

A chance is taken that SPIRIT GENIE is returning to form and that the cards will fall right for him to register a second C&D win.

STORM PIECE showed plenty of promise in three outings last year including when runner-up to Officer on debut at the Curragh and may not have been suited by testing ground when again filling second spot on his reappearance also over this trip at Naas. Iceford and Hostility have a lot to recommend from four maiden outings and the latter was clear of the remainder when runner-up to Admiral Churchill at Limerick last month. Hopes Are High was prominent throughout when a close third to Aston Value over C&D, while Wegotogether caught the eye when keeping on well after a tardy start on debut at the Curragh.

Preference is for STORM PIECE, runner-up in a Naas event that looked stronger than the Limerick race in which Hostility was second

LTO Selection:hiden content,

LUCKIE DEVIL made a debut full of promise when finding only a long odds-on favourite too strong at Newcastle in March and should have plenty of improvement in him. The Nicky Richards-trained five-year-old looks to have been found a good opportunity and can get off the mark. Hey Buddy could only manage fifth on his first start at Warwick, but he may take a step forward. Any market confidence behind Hashtag Queen would be interesting.

This could revolve around the two runners with bumper experience and LUCKIE DEVIL gets the narrow vote ahead of Hey Buddy.

FIRST WAVE was only headed close home when beaten a neck by better fancied stablemate Expanded on debut at the Curragh. The son of Wootton Bassett has probably shown a similar level of form when a beaten favourite on all three outings since, including when second to Dupont Law on the opening day of the turf season over this trip at the Curragh. Daler didn't enjoy the clearest of passages when third to County Mayo over C&D last autumn and the form of that race has worked out quite well since. Ben Lawers, Pierre Royal and Rizal are newcomers to keep a close eye on and any market support would be significant.

Three instances of beaten favouritism raise a significant doubt but FIRST WAVE may collect here in a first-time tongue-tie

Although winless from his 10 starts, PORT ROAD might be worth taking a chance on. A ready winner over this course and distance in March, SUMMER IN MILAN appeals the most off a 6lb higher mark with similar ground conditions underfoot. Freddie Gordon already knows the six-year-old well and another bold showing looks highly likely. Pearl's Pirate was only fourth in that race but could feasibly get closer if he settles better in cheekpieces. However, a bigger danger to the selection could be the low-mileage Vorderman.

The mare BALLYHIHO (nap) jumped particularly well out in front when runner-up on her handicap debut at Newcastle.

The selection progressed well in handicaps last year winning at Dundalk and the Curragh and, having come home strongly at Cork, has every chance of staying this trip on her favoured sound surface. Cheeky Wink has reportedly strengthened up this year and scored in good style at Tipperary last time but is another stepping into the unknown distance wise.

FORTUNE TIMMY and Do It Like A Dude are appealing recruits from the point-to-point scene. The latter won his only start between the flags but that was in May 2023 and the lengthy absence and a subsequent wind operation are slight concerns. The former, who was only narrowly defeated in January, changed hands for 40,000 pounds soon after and he shades preference based on potential. Plumpton bumper winner and hurdles debutant Easy Love is the pick of the rest.

Finishing third in a Listed bumper at Sandown last time entitles EASY LOVE to considerable respect in a maiden of this nature.

JANCIS showed a smart turn of foot when successful on her opening two starts over 7f at Leopardstown including the Group 3 Brownstown Stakes. She found Group 1 company too hot subsequently in the Matron Stakes but remains a filly of considerable potential and it will be interesting to see how she copes with this step up in trip. Riding arrangements suggest Uluru is preferred of Joseph O'Brien's trio and she's closely matched with Thalara on running behind Lord Massusus over a mile at Leopardstown last month. Madam Celeste had Annaghmccanns behind when fourth to Bubble Gum over 1m4f at Cork and shouldn't be inconvenienced by this shorter distance.

Willie McCreery ran JANCIS in the Matron Stakes on only her third start. That proved too demanding but she may be good enough here

Saguaro Blossom faced a stiff assignment in the Nell Gwyn last month but she ought to fare better in these much calmer waters, while Ironist is expected to go close having belied odds of 40-1 to fill the runner-up berth over C&D on her racecourse bow. However, the vote goes to BEE MY HONEY. Charlie Hills' filly hit the woodwork over 6f at Windsor on her debut in October and stepping up to 7f will suit.

Ironist can confirm C&D placings with those who were behind her last month but BEE MY HONEY is also open to considerable progress.

The fiirst-time cheekpieces was forwarded as the explanation for JACK SPARROW GREY's vastly improved effort when he won over C&D last month, and there could be plenty more to come. Fellow last-time-out winner Jimmyjeroo is the most obvious danger, although he cuts back a couple of furlongs after making all over 2m5f at Hereford and could be vulnerable. Extraordinary Man is the pick of the remainder.

The suggestion is JACK SPARROW GREY who would have won easier here last time but for quite a serious mistake three out.

Leopardstown runner-up TSWALU should be able to go one better. Although no match for the winner on that occasion, the filly who beat her franked the form when second in a Group 3 next time. Joseph O'Brien's daughter of Justify should be all the better for that reappearance effort and will be hard to beat. Joyful Princess sets a fair standard with an official rating of 82. Having taken minor honours on her last two starts as a juvenile, the Jessica Harrington-trained filly has to be respected on her first outing of the campaign. Crystal Ball is entitled to be sharper having finished fourth on her introduction. The application of first-time cheekpieces should also aid her cause.

The form of the Leopardstown race in which TSWALU(nap) was second a month ago is persuasive enough to suggest she can go one better

Narrowly denied in his bid for the double at Fakenham last time out, JONGLEUR D'ETOILES should appreciate going back up in trip and a mark of 101 still looks manageable for the six-year-old. A taking winner at Huntingdon most recently, Bobalot could have more to come off 7lb higher, while C&D winner Dear Ralphy is of interest on his return to hurdling.

A tight handicap. JONGLEUR D'ETOILES is perhaps the safest play given his recent consistency. Dear Ralphy is next best.

LETTERS OF LOVE has every chance of reversing recent Tipperary form with Cala Bonita over this shorter trip. Well supported beforehand, the Joseph O'Brien-trained filly looked a real threat when coming through to challenge. However, she had no more to offer inside the final furlong and faded into fifth, suggesting that a drop back to this mile will suit. A daughter of Calyx, she should have no issues with quicker ground. Cala Bonita stepped up on her maiden efforts when runner-up in that contest and a reproduction of the performance would make her a real threat. James The Second, who was second at this track last time, also merits consideration.

Having run a fine race with a hood added over 1m2f last time, ELVETHAM can get off the mark dropped in trip with the headgear off.

Cork fifth MAY NIGHT has strong claims back on a sounder surface. Despite having placed form on soft ground, the seven-time all-weather winner registered his only previous turf victory on good going. A prominent racer, the Shane Duffy-trained seven-year-old will be suited to this track and, well handicapped on his best form, he showed enough last time to suggest he will soon be adding to his tally. Naas scorer Harry The Rogue has to be respected now that he has finally gained that elusive winning bracket. However, he has work to do to reverse Cork form with the selection. Sayfa Fad is also worthy of consideration with Colin Keane booked.

MAY NIGHT has come down to an appealing mark and can improve from his Cork run on unsuitably soft ground.

Dashing Harry made every yard when successful here last month, but similar tactics could set the race up nicely for ABBEY HEIGHTS. The son of Dark Angel returned to action with a respectable third over course and distance and he can resume winning ways with that comeback run under his belt. Danger Alert will also be sharper for last month's return to the fray.

Abbey Heights is greatly respected but RAY VONN isn't fully exposed over 6f just yet and is well treated on last summer's York win.

A LITTLE SOMETHING was only worn down late in the piece when second over further at Plumpton last time out, and dropping in trip could be just what is needed to see her get off the mark. Newmill Getaway is one to monitor for market support on her first start for in-form connections, while Chique Angel could be a different proposition on her handicap debut.

A chance is taken on NEWMILL GETAWAY who wasn't running badly when last seen and is having her first start for Fergal O'Brien.

It could pay to take a chance on the Paul Nolan-trained JARVIS BROOK. Narrowly denied on his reappearance at this track last season, the gelding disappointed in subsequent outings. However, he shaped well enough when third over hurdles when last seen to suggest that he is capable of winning races. Glencullen has yet to win from 12 attempts, but it is surely significant that Joanna Morgan has persisted with the lowly-rated five-year-old. He has hinted on more than one occasion that he has the ability to get his head in front. Dinamine also holds claims for Michael Mulvany.

Though a longstanding maiden, MAN IS KING ran a cracker at Naas last time and this track favours frontrunners like him so he can score.

About U.K Horse Racing

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.

There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.

The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.

Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.

In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.

Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
