UNDERWRITER struggled in the Coventry at Royal Ascot last time, but the son Mehmas won impressively over C&D on his introduction and can be given another chance in this company. Mind Over Matter and Cosmic Clarets are obvious dangers having both hit the crossbar on debut, although the former is the slight pick of the pair with his course experience. Nursia was an expensive purchase and any market support for him would have to be noted.

Royal Ascot did not go to plan but UNDERWRITER impressed over C&D on his debut and remains a good prospect.

A comfortable winner of a bumper here over shorter last month, THREE PIKES looks the one to be with on his hurdles debut. This being only his second start for new connections, the five-year-old is preferred to Roadshow, who was badly hampered and unseated before three out in handicap company here on his most recent outing. Old Bridge and Flat recruit Ensured are capable of being in the shake-up as well.

All of these are tricky to weigh up for one reason or another but the tentative suggestion is ROADSHOW, who could still have potential.

LILAC LADY can improve from her one-length defeat around Sligo. Purchased for 3,000 euros at the Goffs Autumn HIT Sale, Mark McNiff's challenger improved from her stable debut to finish third. The forward-going daughter of Churchill can progress once more and should be on the premises. The standout piece of form in the race comes from Gordon Elliott's charge Two Become One, who finished a close second to the now 135-rated Win Some Lose Some in May 2024. However, on her return from a year off, she was a big drifter in the market beforehand and ran accordingly. Although she should improve, market signals will dictate the strength of her claims. Winning pointer Kilmore Coral may also have a part to play.

Gavin Cromwell runs three, the pick of which appears to be SOPHIA ROSE, who shaped as though this trip will suit at Listowel last time

Ziggy's Triton got off the mark at Nottingham recently and has to be respected, but the return to handicap company demands more from him. With that in mind, marginal preference is for ETERNAL SUNSHINE, who was a close third off this mark over C&D two starts ago. The five-year-old can leave a subsequent defeat at Hamilton behind her on her return to this venue. Others to note are Our Absent Friends and Classy Al.

Top of the list is the unexposed 3yo ZIGGY'S TRITON, who won at Nottingham last Sunday and is open to more progress back in a handicap.

CENTARA could not have done it any easier when disposing of Magistrato over C&D last month, and an 11lb pull in the weights for the runner-up may not be enough to see him overturn the form. Paul Nicholls' charge is taken to land the hat-trick, with Jet Of Dreams a danger if building upon a strong runner-up effort at Worcester recently.

Thriving 7yo CENTARA dominated from the front over C&D last month and is taken to overcome a 10lb rise.

Runner-up on his last start at this track, FULL CONFESSION can go one better with natural progression. The Willie Mullins-trained son of Kingston Hill fetched 60,000 euros after scoring in a Dromahane point-to-point. He went on to win a Fairyhouse bumper over 2m, which shows he has the gears for this trip, and he was a good second over 2m6f last time. The other recent runner-up in the field, Power Of Words, would have every chance in a first-time hood under Jack Kennedy as long he settles because he raced keenly on his last start. In receipt of 12lb, he can push the selection all the way to the line in a contest which looks to be between the two. Front Door Famous is the pick of the remainder.

Little strength in depth and recent second here FULL CONFESSION should be hard to beat dropped in trip

NOVAMAY had plenty in hand when winning by nine lengths at Ripon a week ago and Michael Dods' filly is very hard to oppose with just a 6lb penalty to carry. Superior Council was not beaten far, despite finishing eighth, over C&D last week and he should not be underestimated. Hail Sezer edges out Flowstate and Ramon Di Loria to be best of the rest.

This can go to NOVAMAY, who got off the mark with a 9l win at Ripon last Monday and looks very well treated a penalty.

Narrowly denied over C&D in his bid to land the hat-trick, GET THE VALUE can gain compensation on the drop in grade off just a 2lb higher mark. That may be at the main expense of Max Of Stars, who impressed when making all over track and trip, for which he has been raised 4lb. Unexposed and two from three in this sphere since joining Tom Lacey, Howth is expected to be thereabouts as well.

Max Of Stars made all over C&D last week and is respected but improving 7yo GET THE VALUE is also very well suited by this track.

C&D second AR NOS NA GAOITHE lost out to a very well-handicapped rival who has since gone on to win a Newcastle Flat handicap. Philip Rothwell's contender received a 2lb rise and is now 13lb above her sole winning mark, although Tiernan Power Roche's claim is a big help. Fire Coral is bound to have every chance, especially if reproducing the form of her last run here. Now on stable debut for Sam Curling, she has been dropped 6lb, leaving her on a very enticing mark. On the pick of Hidalgo Des Mottes' form, he should be competitive and made a good reappearance when third at Cork, although he has failed to build on it. Centaq and Firstupbestdressed are making their second starts in handicaps, making any market moves interesting.

A clear second over C&D on her comeback run last month AR NOS NA GAOITHE looks the one to beat here off just a 2lb higher mark

This would appear a clear opportunity for the 107-rated JAZZ DE COTTE to open his account over hurdles. The Gordon Elliott-trained six-year-old was a staying-on second around this track on his penultimate start and with a reproduction of that showing, he would certainly have a favourite's chance, even though he blew out last time. Jackson Lamb showed his liking for this venue when winning a bumper with strong market support behind him last year. His jumping would need to hold up, but he looks an obvious contender to finish in the frame. Neil McKnight saddled the winner of a maiden hurdle on this card last year and his Chisum should improve from his debut during the spring.

Jackson Lamb has posted a higher RPR in bumpers than JAZZ DE COTTE but the the selection has, crucially, more hurdling experience

BELTANE ran a blinder when beaten a length and a quarter into third at Beverley, where he was headed inside the final furlong after possibly hitting the front too soon. If ridden with slightly more restraint, he may last home this time. If Clasina can repeat her June Wetherby third in a better race, she can go close off the same mark. Chiefman sports a first-time visor so improvement isn't out of the question.

Most of these have plenty to prove and this could revolve around Beltane and CLASINA, with slight preference for the latter.

This should be competitive, despite the low turnout. GREAT D'ANGE is suggested as the first one to consider after a close second over C&D and a literal reading of that form gives the Barry Brennan-trained gelding an edge over The Dream Goes On. With first-time blinkers needing to revive Mister Upton, top-weight Time To Bite could be the best alternative.

Time To Bite did well in the spring but new headgear may enable MISTER UPTON to come good for his new stable at the second attempt.

Despite his lack of a previous run this year, LAKEFIELD FLYER looks the safest option. The Shark Hanlon-trained gelding has run well fresh in the past, so the fact that the seven-year-old has been off since October is less of a concern than usual. A C&D winner, he is lightly raced over fences having had just the three starts. With his stable among the winners on Friday, there are plenty of positives. The locally-trained Gorthill is interesting now returning to handicap company. Runner-up here in a hunter chase in May, the nine-year-old is sure to be involved. Purse Price shouldn't be discounted on her debut for Ross O'Sullivan.

Not many appeal here. LAKEFIELD FLYER lacks a recent run but has run well fresh and gets a tentative vote

SPIORADALTA stayed on well from off the pace to finish a respectable third in a tougher handicap at Beverley last month. Mark Walford's charge gets another chance back at this level and is only 3lb higher than when successful at Ripon in May. Bamburgh represents last year's winning yard and also drops in class with a shout off his current mark. The veteran Glasses Up can't be ruled out with any confidence as he bids for a remarkable 12th course victory.

The in-form 5yo SPIORADALTA (nap) was an eyecatcher in a Class 4 at Beverley last time and he gets the vote ahead of Cisco Disco.

QUEEN KATE was the convincing winner of a Doncaster bumper before posting a cracking fourth-placed finish in a Grade 2 at Aintree. Those performances are hard to overlook and this appears to be a good opportunity for Mickey Bowen's mare to enhance her profile. Based on the form of her first two starts, What A Peach would need a big step forward to overhaul the selection. With that in mind, well-related newcomer Lady Kara may be the one for the forecast slot.

Good market support for Lady Kara will spice things up but Aintree festival fourth QUEEN KATE ought to win this easily.

Narrowly denied on her second chasing start at Tipperary recently, BETTY DUTTON can go one better. A 100-rated mare over hurdles, the Edward O'Grady-trained seven-year-old has a class edge over a number of these rivals. With Darragh O'Keeffe a notable booking, she has bright prospects of registering a first career win over fences. Point-to-point winner Je Suis shaped encouragingly when mid-division on her chasing debut at Tipperary earlier this month. Entitled to improve from that, the Sam Curling-trained mare enters calculations. Karloss should be sharper having run well on his return from a long absence when fourth over hurdles at Clonmel in May.

The mare BETTY DUTTON had one of the higher marks of these as a hurdler and has already run well over fences.

BENVENUTO CELLINI made a pleasing start when runner-up to odds-on stablemate Dorset over 7f at the Curragh on Irish Derby weekend. The son of Frankel certainly wasn't friendless in the market and can be expected to build on that promising debut. Ipanema Beach has kept good company on all three outings in maidens won by smart Ballydoyle colts and should appreciate this step up in trip. Riding arrangements suggest Limestone, a half-brother to Irish Derby runner-up Lone Eagle, is preferred of Joseph O'Brien's pair. Paddy Twomey introduces Bond, who cost 220,000gns at the Craven Breeze-Up Sale.

National Stakes entrant BENVENUTO CELLINI made a hugely promising debut at the Curragh and looks nailed on to improve on that.

LTO Selection:hiden content, hiden content, hiden content, hiden content

A dual winner over hurdles since obtaining his mark in this discipline, OUR ZEBO now looks very well handicapped. Following a breakthrough success at Tramore in April, the grey doubled up when easily winning at this track on his next start. Having won a point-to-point, the Noel Kelly-trained six-year-old appears to have no issues in the jumping department. From a rating 22lb lower than over flights, a clear round should be enough to see him home in front. A course winner over hurdles, Jimli's Cave finished third in a handicap chase here on his penultimate start. He should be involved for local connections. Mrs Biddle has each-way claims at the very least.

The eyes are drawn to OUR ZEBO (nap) who had been going great guns over hurdles until last time and he's well handicapped back chasing

TRIBAL NATION, a creditable sixth in the Britannia at Royal Ascot last time, won a Galway maiden on heavy ground last autumn and appears to have been found a good opportunity to add to his tally having kept good company in three outings on a sounder surface this season. Rion Rubette showed much improved form when recording a wide-margin win over 7f at Limerick last month and the handicapper reacted by raising her 18lb. It will be interesting to see if she can back up that effort. Barbizon showed some promise on debut at the Curragh and should progress.

Rion Rubette was a sharp improver last time but TRIBAL NATION's form has the greater substance and he should be tough to beat.

A small field here sees the George Boughey-trained INDIA LOVE attempting to give 7lb or more to her rivals as she looks to keep her unbeaten record. Scoring on debut at York by a neck, she followed that with an odds-on victory at Lingfield and another small step forward might be all she needs. Kesta may be her biggest danger after his Haydock second when caught close home. Social Exclusion drops to more realistic company after finishing towards the rear in the Queen Mary.

Museum Piece can set the pace and should stick to her task but she may well prove vulnerable to INDIA LOVE and Kesta late on.

VEGA'S MUSE is steadily improving and appears weighted to go close. The Jessica Harrington-trained filly and Faoladh were only separated by half a length when filling the places behind Refreshment over this trip at Leopardstown last month and the form of that race has worked out very well since. The selection now meets subsequent winner Faoladh on 8lb better terms. Beautiful Affair hasn't enjoyed a clear run on her latest two starts, while others to consider include Far From Dandy and Dahlia Noir. Naoi has been placed on all three maiden appearances and is bred to appreciate this step up to a mile.

An open handicap. NAOI hasn't lived up to market expectations in her maidens but she brings potential into handicaps.

Hello Isla cost 70,000gns at the breeze-ups in April and looks one of the more interesting newcomers, but experience counts and the vote goes to HAYYNAH. Second on debut over C&D, despite a slow start, she was denied a clear passage at a crucial stage before finishing well and a better run could see her get off the mark. Rydale Frosty pulled too hard when runner-up at Newmarket and he could also go close if he learns to settle.

There are newcomers to be checked out but they will have to be good if they are to upstage HAYYNAH and Rydale Frosty.

ALPHA CAPTURE likes to be held up for a late run and scored here 12 months ago. Those tactics rely on some good fortune and he didn't have the clearest of runs when a very promising second to Tachos on reappearance at Leopardstown last month. Amemri is bidding for a 10th career win and recorded a fifth consecutive victory when successful over this distance at Limerick last time, while Extensio has also been a fine servant to connections but is likely to find this trip too sharp on his reappearance. Nakasero and Martinelli are another two C&D winners to consider towards the bottom of the handicap.

it might pay to side with MARTINELLI. It was hard not to be impressed with his Limerick victory and there could be more to come

(3) Tequila 9/1, 360,000 euro yearling; yet to open account in five starts; looked ideally suited when stepped up in trip to 10f and only beaten 1/2l off 70 at Newmarket (July) last time; threat
Closest when third of six at Newmarket (upped to 1m2f) latest, setting a slow pace.
LTO Selection:hiden content, hiden content, hiden content, hiden content

As the only previous distance winner in the field, Displaying warrants plenty of respect after staying on to score by a neck at Doncaster. He can go well but he does have to give 3lb to TEQUILA, which looks a big ask. Stepped up to this trip for the first time at Newmarket, she made the running before having to settle for third and if similar tactics are applied, she may be able to dominate in this small field. Gloryous sits at the bottom of the weights and is a player if she gets the extra two furlongs.

Tequila may represent the chief threat but DISPLAYING's performances in two 1m2f handicaps make him the clear pick.

A staying-on sixth on her debut at the Curragh last month, PLAZA ATHENEE is worth siding with here. John Joseph Murphy likes to target this particular meeting and the daughter of Sir Percy shaped well enough on her introduction to suggest she can improve further. Expected to appreciate this step up in trip, the fact that Colin Keane has stayed loyal is also noteworthy. In a race where those with more experience look somewhat limited, it can pay to side with the once-raced filly. With an official rating of 79, Matrice is probably good enough to win a country maiden at some stage. Newcomer Stellar Quality holds an Irish Oaks entry for Jessica Harrington.

PLAZA ATHENEE shaped as though this sort of trip would suit at the Curragh and the champion jockey keeps the faith

COMPETIZIONE represents a yard that took a division of this race last season and he is difficult to oppose. Set a tough assignment in the Britannia at Royal Ascot on his handicap debut, the son of Too Darn Hot will likely prove a cut above today's rivals. Dust Cover started off in the Wood Ditton at Newmarket in April and has subsequently switched yards. He could make his presence felt, while Frankel gelding Hachiman is worth noting on his return to the fray.

Royal Ascot is close geographically but the race which COMPETIZIONE contested there looks a million miles away from this novice.

Providing that he gets away on terms, the Joseph O'Brien-trained DEFIANTLY can register a first career victory. After losing many lengths at the start on his racecourse debut at Leopardstown, the gelding did remarkably well to be beaten less than a length at the finish. While he will have to avoid a repeat of those antics now, the son of Kameko looks the most likely winner. Little Miss P just about sets the standard of those with more experience. If improving for the additional trip, the Kodi Bear filly should make her presence felt. Edge Of Seventeen is another with genuine prospects in a competitive maiden.

DEFIANTLY ran on strongly after a tardy start on debut at Leopardstown and could be hard to beat if breaking better here

Diamondonthehill has shown plenty of early pace over 7f recently and looks worth another try at this distance. The only one who's been running well recently is DIAMONDONTHEHILL (nap), admittedly at 7f but he gets the vote from Amazonian Dream.

Top-weight MAGNOLIA DRIVE should be good enough to get off the mark over this trip. Runner-up at Ballinrobe on her penultimate start, the Joseph O'Brien-trained filly was again doing her best work at the finish when fourth at Tipperary last time. Bred to want a test of stamina, the daughter of Gleneagles will have plenty of time to get organised up this long straight. First-time cheekpieces should also aid her cause. On collateral form, the Andy Slattery-trained Whats New shouldn't be too far away from the selection. His trainer continues to send out winners under both codes. Handicap debutant Oranzona needs to improve, but could be capable of stepping up on her maiden runs.

With the step up in trip almost certain to suit, MAGNOLIA DRIVE (nap) looks the one to be on in first-time cheekpieces

There is a possible fly in the ointment in Watch And Shoot. Otherwise this looks tight, with AMERICAN STATE preferred to Narmar.

LTO Selection:hiden content, hiden content, hiden content, hiden content

BOBACIOUS arrives here on the back of two wins in recent weeks and a 4lb rise for the latest of those victories at Epsom may not be enough to prevent him from making it a hat-trick. Silver Gunn was well held over C&D last time but is a player based on his previous form, while Just An Hour and Morcar complete the shortlist.

It's a tough call between four of these but BOBACIOUS gets the vote ahead of Silver Gunn.
