There were 46 Races on Friday 20th September 2024 across 6 meetings. There was 8 races at Newbury, 7 races at Ayr, 7 races at Newton Abbot, 7 races at Downpatrick, 9 races at Kempton, 8 races at Dundalk, no doubt Tomform helped you find a winner.
The data in the racecards below is for the past year. View the racecard key.

JUBA improved from first to second start when going well for a long way over C&D recently and, with normal improvement expected, he might be able to get off the mark on this occasion. A promising runner-up at Ayr on his penultimate outing, Haazeez is best judged on that form, while the well-bred Maelstrom is another to consider despite not showing much first time out at Haydock. Shameful and Wicket Keeper look to be the pick of the newcomers.

HAAZEEZ has been expensive to follow since his promising debut here but this looks a good opportunity in what is a weak maiden for the track. Belgrave offered something to work on at Kempton so must be respected for his excellent yard, with Shameful making the most appeal out of the newcomers.

This doesn't look the deepest of maidens by Newbury standards. HAAZEEZ returns from a break and his first two runs were promising.

This can go the way of FIRE FLAME, who was an encouraging third at Chelmsford last month in a race that has worked out very well in the interim. This track is likely to suit and he is preferred to Kempton second I Maximus, as well as Spirit Of Farhh, who ran a huge race on debut when narrowly denied at Ascot. Related to Group 1 winner Fairyland, Almeraq should be monitored for market support on his racecourse bow.

I MAXIMUS has let favourite backers down on a couple of occasions but there were still signs of greenness at Kempton and this evidently well-regarded colt is given one more chance. Spirit of Farhh rates an obvious danger after his promising opening effort at Ascot a fortnight ago. Fire Flame is another who looks capable of better, while Almeraq and Fast Track Harry are newcomers to monitor in the betting.

Almeraq is a choicely bred newcomer who needs a market check but SPIRIT OF FARHH gets the vote after his promising Ascot debut.

SCATTER PENNY was dropped a generous 4lb after her nursery debut at York having won both starts prior at Nottingham and Pontefract. The daughter of Elarqam was inconvenienced by a slow start and is worth another chance, especially with the step up in trip and the addition of a tongue-tie likely to help. Cymbidium won on her nursery debut at Thirsk earlier in the month and has to be respected off a 5lb higher mark. Suzette is another to note.

CYMBIDIUM showed much improved form to land a punt on nursery bow at Thirsk 2 weeks ago and remains one to keep on the right side of. Suzette is another who took a big step forward when making a winning handicap debut at Carlisle so rates the main threat ahead of Lovely Spirit.

A competitive nursery but LOVELY SPIRIT's Musselburgh win was well franked at the weekend and she can follow up.
Class & Speed Card

TRIBAL GLORY made a pleasing start to life over hurdles when filling the runner-up spot over an extended 2m2f here last month and, with progress likely now upped in trip, Fergal O'Brien's six-year-old is fancied to go one better. Shakeyatailfeather was far from disgraced in a warm class 2 handicap at Kelso in May and she's of clear interest back in maiden company. Authoceltic is most appealing of the remainder.

TRIBAL GLORY shaped encouragingly sent hurdling after a full year off when finding just one too strong here last month and, with further improvement on the cards, Fergal O'Brien's 6-y-o is fancied to go one better at the expense of the returning Shakeyatailfeather, who sets the standard on her runner-up efforts back in the spring. Authoceltic can fill out third.

Tribal Glory is respected but SHAKEYATAILFEATHER ran well in a competitive handicap in the spring and her form is more persuasive.
Class & Speed Card

OMNISCIENT looks a likely sort for Gordon Elliott and Jack Kennedy who have a strong record at this racetrack. This five-year-old gelding has been placed in two of his four maiden hurdles and winners have come out of the race that he finished fourth in at Punchestown in June. Tell Nobody Nothin showed ability in third on debut at Bellewstown and is entitled to improve from that outing. Newtown Rambler is a point-to-point graduate who starts out on his track career for Henry de Bromhead. He could have a role to play at the business end.

Henry de Bromhead has his team in cracking order at present so winning-pointer NEWTOWN RAMBLER has to be of obvious interest on his Rules debut, especially as standard-setter Omniscient is starting to look expensive to follow. Tell Nobody Nothin made an encouraging start to his career at Bellewstown in April and is also feared with improvement on the cards.

If forgiven a weak finishing effort when fourth at Punchestown in June, OMNISCIENT has good credentials for a race of this standard.

Trainer Sir Michael Stoute may have announced his retirement, but he will still have a major part to play in the early development of what looks like a high-class filly in ANNA SWAN. Handed a 3lb penalty for an impressive debut success at Yarmouth, the daughter of Almanzor is entitled to have plenty more improvement forthcoming and she may have too many gears for Cathedral, who wasn't for catching on debut at Lingfield over 6f. Saariselka is another to note.

CATHEDRAL and Anna Swan both made sparkling winning debuts and are open to bundles of improvement, with the former narrowly preferred given the excellent form of her stable. Saariselka shouldn't be completely dismissed with the step up to 7f sure to bring about further progress.

Two fillies who were both impressive on their respective debuts clash in this with ANNA SWAN just preferred to Cathedral.
Class & Speed Card

Bonnie's Boy has finished second on all three outings to date and is likely to play a leading role making his first start in a nursery. However, a chance is taken on LOVAT SCOUT bouncing back from his latest effort. A winner on debut at Thirsk, Karl Burke's colt had excuses when not appearing to handle the track at Ripon last month and he remains a colt full of potential. Hamilton winner Our Mighty Mo and Candy rate best of the rest.

BONNIE'S BOY is on the up and his form is solid, so he's fancied to defy a mark of 80 at the first attempt. Last-time-out winners Our Mighty Mo and Candy are the main threats.

Lovat Scout may do better back on a more conventional track but BONNIE'S BOY can cure his seconditis now switched to nurseries.
Class & Speed Card

The form of ASIAN STAR's third in a Southwell bumper has worked out well and while she didn't live up to market expectations that day, this looks a good opportunity to make a successful beginning to life over timber. Hard As Nails must shoulder a penalty having won at Southwell in May. She has remained in good form since, though, and will again be aided by Jack Hogan's 3lb claim. Others to note include A Little Something and Pure Gold.

ASIAN STAR showed plenty of promise in a couple of bumpers during the spring and is taken to make a winning start over hurdles. Next on the list is Kitty Foyle, who arrives here on the back of a win on the Flat at Goodwood, while Hard As Nails should be in the mix and Pure Gold is another with possibilities.

Flat winner Kitty Foyle is respected but preference is for ASIAN STAR, who looked promising in two bumpers in the spring.
Class & Speed Card

STEPS IN THE SAND won over C&D in July and has to be respected with that form franked. In all probability, the longer distance probably found her out when she was fourth on her latest visit to Downpatrick. British-raider Mary looks set to go off at the front and those tactics worked well in Stratford last month. Her trainer, Ian Williams, enjoyed a successful raid at Laytown on Monday. Bayou Belle arrives in a consistent vein of form and has been placed in her last four races over flights including at this venue in January. She is another threat.

BAYOU BELLE has been knocking at the door at Wexford in recent months and can deservedly get her head back in front. Steps In The Sand has thrived under both codes this summer and is second choice ahead of Mary, a winner at Stratford last month.

This looks quite open. STEPS IN THE SAND, a C&D winner who ran well on the Flat last time, is arguably the most appealing.
Class & Speed Card

Green Icon arrives in search of a hat-trick of victories having backed up his Chelmsford maiden success with a smooth nursery debut win at Haydock earlier in the month. Although he is going the right way, a 7lb rise could prove too much and AEGEAN SEA may be the one to take advantage. The son of Kingman seemed to find a mile too far on his latest start at Haydock when hanging left in the closing stages, but the return to 7f and first-time cheekpieces could prove just the tonic. Mandana, Jr Climbs and Lakers head the remainder.

The suggestion is LAKERS, who opened his account at Ffos Las in July and confirmed that improvement shown when pulling clear with the winner at Beverley since. Now heading into handicaps, George Boughey's colt can double his tally at the expense of Green Icon, who is improving in leaps and bounds and arrives chasing a hat-trick. Gilet, Mandana and Cristo are a trio of others to consider too in what looks a seriously competitive nursery.

George Boughey still has LAKERS entered in the Royal Lodge and his defeat at Beverley doesn't look too shoddy an effort now.
Class & Speed Card

COTO DE CAZA was an impressive winner when getting off the mark at the second time of asking at Beverley before stepping up on that effort when taking a conditions stakes race at Goodwood. The manner of that performance suggests she's well worth a crack at this prize. Kaadi's recent second at Longchamp was boosted by the winner following up in the Flying Childers at Doncaster last week and her consistency gives her an obvious chance. The class-dropping King's Call is noted too.

COTO DE CAZA is proving most progressive, making it 2 wins from 3 starts in impressive fashion at Goodwood back in July. Open to further improvement, she gets the nod to come out on top having her first crack at listed level. Kaadi is compiling a very solid record and is feared, along with another progressive pair in the shape of Uncle Don and Star of Mehmas.

Cheveley Park entrant COTO DE CAZA could be a cut above the majority of these after clocking an impressive time at Goodwood.
Class & Speed Card

Having romped home over C&D last month, Glynn recorded another clear-cut success at Stratford just five days later. He is in a more competitive heat now, but still merits respect. Things didn't work out for Lallygag over fences last season, but he has been flying over timber and should not be underestimated. That said, preference is for RISKINTHEGROUND, who made it four wins from nine over the larger obstacles when on target at Bangor a fortnight ago, with further progress far from out of the question.

SECRET TRIX turned in a rare poor effort last time but he's worth another chance given his profile and has a big chance on these terms if taking to fences at the first attempt. All 3 of his rivals are potential dangers, including hat-trick seeking Glynn.

Dan Skelton's RISKINTHEGROUND keeps improving and is taken to collect his fifth win of the season.
Class & Speed Card

PORTNACOO routed the opposition over further at this track in August and, although he got a hike from the handicapper, would be the one to beat if in the same kind of form. That was just his second run since switching to Harry Smyth and this is a big drop in class from that 80-109 handicap hurdle. Init Together was runner-up over C&D last month and another solid shift is on the cards. Sandyman was a beaten favourite in fifth when last seen over C&D, but has the ability to get involved. Finn Russell didn't make an impact in three hurdle races in Britain last year, but gets in here off bottom weight and has been in decent nick on the Flat.

SANDYMAN was bang there until clouting the final flight here last time and it's surely only a matter of time before he's winning a handicap hurdle for John McConnell. Init Together, last-time-out course scorer Portnacoo and British raider Finn Russell may give him most to think about.

Preference is for SANDYMAN. He ran well here in August 2023, he should strip fitter for his comeback run and his jockey takes off 5lb
Class & Speed Card

KING OF CITIES didn't need to improve much on his debut third at Newmarket to score at Chester at the end of last month. Unlike his half-brother, Commonwealth Cup hero Inisherin, a mile doesn't appear to be an issue for Richard Hannon's colt and he is taken to prove too strong for the opposition. Kempton winner Dunamase also boasts a smart pedigree and has to be respected along with Regal Ulixes, who didn't get the clearest of runs when third on his racecourse bow at Goodwood.

Often an informative contest with this year's renewal fancied to go the way of REGAL ULIXES. Andrew Balding's well-bred colt shaped with plenty of promise without being seen to best effect when third on debut at Goodwood 17 days ago and he looks sure to improve. The penalised pair, King of Cities and Dunamase, are both appealing types with claims, whilst market confidence behind newcomer Dissident would also look significant.

Dunamase and King Of Cities are promising and Dissident is Bluestocking's half-brother. REGAL ULIXES shaped well on debut.
Class & Speed Card

Marine Wave defeated Rage Of Bamby (fourth) in a Listed contest at Pontefract last month and with the former now shouldering a penalty for that success, the pair could finish a lot closer. Azure Blue had excuses at York earlier this month and is perfectly capable on her day, although it is FROST AT DAWN who shades preference. William Knight's unexposed three-year-old struggled in the Al Quoz Sprint at Meydan earlier in the year, but was far from disgraced in the Nunthorpe last time and has less on her plate here.

FROST AT DAWN faced no easy task back from 5 months off in the Nunthorpe at York 4 weeks ago but the pick of her form in Meydan earlier this year entitles her to plenty of respect so, with that run under her belt, she's given the nod to bounce back in a race confined to her own sex. Woodhay Wonder and Rage of Bamby head the dangers. Gutsy Girl also likely has a bigger effort in her locker.

Unexposed on turf, FROST AT DAWN ran well in the circumstances in a Group 1 last time and comes into it on her Meydan sprint form.
Class & Speed Card

Having opened his account in decisive fashion at Worcester last week, ELECTRIC EDDY is sure to take all the beating racing off the same rating. The six-year-old is due to go up 7lb in the near future and this looks a suitable opportunity for him to follow up. The progressive Therapist arrives on the back of a solid third on the Flat and Nicky Henderson's filly may serve the most resistance to the selection, ahead of Greenways.

ELECTRIC EDDY built on previous promise after 8 weeks off when running out a ready winner at Worcester 9 days ago and, unpenalized for that success, he makes plenty of appeal in his follow-up bid. Nicky Henderson's Therapist rates the chief danger returned to this sphere, ahead of United Front and Outback Frontiers.

In a hot race for the grade the suggestion is THERAPIST, who made a good start to his handicap hurdle career in the spring.
Class & Speed Card

Point-to-point winner Cloonainra impressed on her debut under rules as she sailed in by nine lengths in a maiden hurdle at Sligo for John McConnell. That said, all her form is on much slower ground. BOSTON JURY got off the mark on his third outing in a maiden hurdle at Down Royal. He was the subject of good support that day and looks to have some scope for improvement. Dinoland, a stablemate of Cloonainra, won over 3m at Down Royal and also has winning form over a similar trip to this one from Cartmel. He is a player. That's About Right has found life tougher off his revised mark, while Rowdy Romeo is returning from a break.

BOSTON JURY is progressing nicely so he's taken to follow up from Down Royal. Dinoland is considered the main threat ahead of Bangor-scorer Cloonainra.

The four-year-old BOSTON JURY is potentially the most progressive of these and may add to his recent Down Royal maiden win
Class & Speed Card

Punters will need to be in a forgiving mood to side with FIFTH COLUMN, but it might just pay to do so. The son of Kingman shaped better than the bare result suggests when a running-on seventh over C&D on debut and, with soft ground a likely excuse for his subsequent low-key effort at Ascot, he can gain a breakthrough victory now returning to Polytrack. Consolidation has already shown a smart level of form in his three career starts and another bold bid is forecast. This step back in trip can see Play Me to better effect and he is also noteworthy.

CONSOLIDATION offers solid novice/maiden form and looks the one to beat. Fifth Column showed a bit more at Ascot and is evidently thought capable of better still, so is next best ahead of Prince of India, who fared best of the newcomers when fourth in a C&D novice 2 weeks ago.

This looks a good opportunity for CONSOLIDATION who sets a useful standard on his three outings so far.
Class & Speed Card

A gelding operation seemed to help Nostrum when finishing runner-up in a Group 3 at Newmarket and recent wind surgery may further aid his cause. That said, he faces a potential improver at the trip in the shape of LAKE FOREST. If over the issues that caused him to be upset in the stalls and withdrawn at York last month, the three-year-old could be the one following two fine efforts to finish runner-up in the Commonwealth Cup and the Hackwood. Both Witch Hunter (second) and Jumby (third) went very close in the Hungerford here last month and also enter calculations.

LAKE FOREST was doing all his best work late on when runner-up here last time and could improve again over this longer trip. He is fancied to score. Nostrum and Witch Hunter are feared most.

Lake Forest has a big chance if the ground is suitable. If he is absent again, this might hand a good opportunity to WITNESS STAND.
Class & Speed Card

Three previous winners of this contest in Danzan, Call Me Ginger and Roundhay Park head to post and each are too well treated to ignore, but a tentative vote goes to SPIRIT OF APPLAUSE. The market has spoken in favour of Tim Easterby's charge since being fitted with cheekpieces at the beginning of August, and he repaid his supporters at Beverley last time out. It remains to be seen whether stall 20 will be an aid or a hindrance, but he appears to be coming in to form and, though a 5lb penalty makes things tougher, he ought to have plenty in hand judged on past exploits. Others to note include last year's runner-up Cold Stare, The Ridler and Rory.

MONSIEUR KODI had a possible excuse in the Great St Wilfrid and this former C&D winner is worth chancing to stage a revival having dipped to 6 lb lower than when landing the Stewards' Cup consolation at last year's Glorious Goodwood. Last year's runner-up Cold Stare looks to have been laid out for this meeting again and heads the many dangers along with Trilby, Spirit of Applause and the selection's stablemate Havana Rum.

Having shown promising signs in recent months, THE RIDLER (nap) earns the vote ahead of the 3yo Moyola.
Class & Speed Card

Having posted several creditable efforts in defeat this season, just reward could be headed in COLONEL LESLEY's direction. A 2lb rise for last month's close-up second at this venue looks more than fair and he edges the vote over Karannelle, who was behind in third that day. David Rees' mare has subsequently finished third over C&D and a return to quicker ground conditions will suit. Juggernaut is also worth consideration now dropping in trip.

James Owen will likely find the key to ADDOSH before too long, possibly on today's return to hurdling. Colonel Lesley has recorded good placed efforts on his last 4 completed starts and is second choice ahead of Karannelle.

The pick is COLONEL LESLEY, who has been in good form for his new stable this season .
Class & Speed Card

Connections mentioned chasing for DUE COURSE after he obliged over flights in Bellewstown last month and they get their wish in this beginners' chase. The six-year-old gelding appreciates good ground and this trip is ideal for him. Tuckmill is another hurdle winner sent over fences and he has to be respected, particularly as his trainer commented after that handicap hurdle victory in Wexford that he is a chaser in the making. Sea Road Fill faced a tough task in a beginners' chase at the Galway Festival and did as well as could be expected in fifth. Bobbi Gin Tree wasn't beaten in third when she fell at the penultimate hurdle in Wexford. She banked a runner-up spot at Sligo in July and could make her presence felt over the bigger obstacles.

DUE COURSE scored readily in a handicap hurdle last time and appeals as the sort to make a better chaser, so he gets the nod over fellow chasing debutant Bobbi Gin Tree. Sea Road Fill is the better of the pair with chasing experience.

A course winner over hurdles, WARM IN GOREY has had plenty of runs over fences and he could make that experience count.
Class & Speed Card

SANDS OF MARRA built on a promising debut when successful at Windsor and, after then being outclassed in the Molecomb at Glorious Goodwood, he gets the vote to resume his progression with his sights lowered. Aviation Time wasn't disgraced when fourth over 5f at Windsor on Monday and, stepping up in trip, she can emerge as the main danger to the selection. Of the newcomers, Unfortunate Heir appeals most.

AVIATION TIME hasn't kicked on since her third in the Windsor Castle at Royal Ascot but this looks a good opportunity for her even so. Sands of Marra is the obvious threat back down in class having found the Molecomb at Goodwood too demanding.

It's hard to get away from AVIATION TIME, who wasn't best suited by the drop to 5f at Windsor on Monday and should have too much class.
Class & Speed Card

In a wide-open event marginal preference is for BEELEY, who finally got off the mark over 1m4f at Ffos Las last time. The daughter of Camelot has chased home some above-average rivals this year and a mark of 84 may underestimate her on handicap debut. The hat-trick seeking Billiegee is an obvious threat but this does require another career best, while similar comments apply to Typical Woman. Blessed Honour is going in the right direction and has to be considered on her handicap bow too.

BLESSED HONOUR looked a good prospect when scoring at Nottingham last time and her opening mark seems reasonable, so she's marginally preferred to the hat-trick seeking Typical Woman. Billiegee is one of several others with feasible claims in a race that isn't short of depth.

Five have set out their stall with wins in the last month but it is hard to ignore BLESSED HONOUR who is far less exposed.
Class & Speed Card

THIS YEARS LOVE has made steady progress since winning at Beverley in June. A narrow winner on the Westwood last time out, Mick and David Easterby's gelding is only 3lb higher and he could go in again with further improvement on the cards. Jewel Maker continues to knock on the door and he's unlikely to be far away, although the younger legs of Swift Salian might present a more significant threat.

Tim Easterby looks to hold a strong hand here, with JEWEL MAKER taken to gain reward for his recent consistency. Stablemate Mount King came good last autumn and is handicapped to win again. Lucinda Russell 3-y-o John L Sullivan has made a positive start to his career and also makes the shortlist.

Tim Easterby has chances with Jewel Maker and MOUNT KING. The latter went for home too early at Ripon and that can be upgraded.

POWERFUL NATION debuts on the all-weather but is a fast-ground type so is likely to be suited by this surface and has form claims. A speedy sprinter, he finished second at Listed level at Tipperary in July, where he comfortably beat Lady With The Lamp into sixth. Shamrock Breeze is a similarly fast type and has been placed in three Listed races but, notably, has been beaten by the selection twice and has 2.75 lengths to find with him on Tipperary form. Saratoga Special, in turn, finished 5.25 lengths ahead of Shamrock Breeze last month and is now also 5lb better off. However, she disappointed when narrowly failing to win a Navan maiden 22 days ago, with the runner-up being well defeated subsequently.

SARATOGA SPECIAL failed to land the odds at Navan 3 weeks ago but she didn't do much wrong and is worth another chance trying a surface she's bred to relish. The penalised Powerful Nation went close in a listed race at Tipperary in July and is the obvious threat back down in class.

Shamrock Breeze should run well but she has a bit to find with SARATOGA SPECIAL and Powerful Nation on these terms

In what looks a competitive affair, WONDERFUL EAGLE gets a tentative vote. Already a dual winner over timber, it would be a surprise if there wasn't some mileage in his hurdles mark judging by his cosy Flat victory over 2m at Goodwood last month. Melton Mossy showed a likeable attitude when winning over an extended 2m2f here recently and he merits respect, for all that he has been raised 5lb and is also 4lb out of the handicap. Fellow last-time-out winner Finisk River completes the shortlist.

WONDERFUL EAGLE has left the impression there's a bigger effort in him over hurdles if his jumping improves and he arrives on the back of a successful effort on the Flat, so he's worth a chance to add another C&D win to his record. Last-time-out winners Finisk River and Melton Mossy could emerge as the main dangers.

This pick is dual course winner WONDERFUL EAGLE (nap), who reverts to hurdling after a fine Flat win last month and is on a good mark.

HAND OVER FIST really enjoyed a staying trip when successful for the first time over fences in Kilbeggan. The first-time cheekpieces that were deployed are retained for this assignment. He won twice over hurdles and there should be more to come in this discipline. Winding River didn't perform on his last visit here, but that was the first time he finished out of the first three on six visits to Downpatrick. He has competed in higher grades and has to be respected in first-time blinkers. Room To Roam has plenty of experience to call upon and knows how to pick up prize money. There is no doubt that Tullyveery Lad has the ability to get involved, but he has failed to complete the course in two of his last three races.

HAND OVER FIST reacted well to first-time cheekpieces when successful at Kilbeggan last time and, with the scope for better still, he gets the nod over Tullyveery Lad, who remains with potential in this sphere. Woodie Wango is also worthy of consideration.

Preference is for WOODIE WANGO. Trip and ground look ideal for him and he shaped very nicely off this mark on his handicap chase debut.
Class & Speed Card

IZIPIZI's debut second over C&D last year reads very well in the context of this race and, on the back of a gallant runner-up effort behind a classy filly at Newbury, she can gain a breakthrough victory here. Native Souvenir kept on strongly to make a winning start to her career at Ffos Las last month and it remains to be seen where her ceiling lies. L'air De Panache is also noted on her introduction.

IZIPIZI has found just one too good in 2 of her 3 starts so, provided she's ready to roll after 3 months off, John & Thady Gosden's charge is fancied to go one better at the expense of Native Souvenir, who showed a good attitude to get the better of one with plenty of experience on debut at Ffos Las 3 weeks ago and carries a penalty here. Dark Lyric is also open to improvement and completes the shortlist.

The vote goes to IZIPIZI who has shown enough in two of her three starts to suggest a race like this is within her grasp.

The unexposed More Thunder has to be of interest having hit the crossbar on his handicap debut at Chester last time. That said, preference is for SHAMRAN after the son of Kingman got off the mark over a mile at Salisbury three weeks ago. A mark of 82 should be workable on that evidence and he may even improve for this step up in trip. Odin Legacy edges out Galyx and Midnight Rumble to be best of the rest.

Provided that MUSTAZEED gets away on terms a third C&D victory could be on the cards for this 6-y-o. He shaped as though his turn was again near at Ascot in July before completely blowing the start at Goodwood next time. More Thunder looks a big threat on the back of his creditable handicap debut second at Chester, while unexposed duo Galyx and Odin Legacy also need considering.

The winner may come from the less exposed 3yos, with SHAMRAN (nap) preferred given the style of his 1m novice win.

ANNANDALE hasn't made much of an impact over a host of inadequate trips recently, but he did catch the eye at Musselburgh last time. Jim Goldie's charge finished down the field in the corresponding event 12 months ago, but he is now 10lb lower and looks to have been given a real chance. Belle Of Annandale was another who contested this last year and she should not be written off following a couple of promising efforts over hurdles, while L'Eagle Aid is another to consider.

L'EAGLE AID dispelled a couple of lesser efforts in no uncertain terms when landing a small-field novice at Catterick 32 days ago and, with his early-season form in handicaps having worked out well, he could be worth chancing to build on that run. Billy No Mates, Annandale and Caballo de Mar are others to consider.

This can go to ANNANDALE, now 26lb lower than when winning the 0-95 handicap over this trip on the Saturday of this meeting in 2021.

Progressive ISABELLA EXPERT runs in first-time cheekpieces and might turn form with both Agouti Bear and Sharkii and win, under a light weight. The selection was well held by the more experienced Sharkii on her debut at Cork in July but has shown improved form since then and while also recently beaten by Agouti Bear at Navan, is now 8lb better off and can reverse placings. Agouti Bear, similarly, runs in first-time cheekpieces but has a poor draw in 17. Flash The Cash and Sharkii are closely matched on Down Royal form although speedy-type Flash The Cash isn't certain to be suited by today's extra furlong. Shelbiana has been running well under similarly low weights.

SHELBIANA shades preference ahead of Agouti Bear, having again shaped with promise when fifth in a big-field Naas maiden last month. Perhaps the addition of cheekpieces will help eke out a little more and, if so, she will have every chance. Agouti Bear has found just one too good on each of his two starts and will surely go one better soon enough, while Flash The Cash and Sharkii, third and fourth respectively at Down Royal a fortnight ago, are others to consider.

FLASH THE CASH was far from disgraced at Royal Ascot and should be able to take advantage of a good inside draw from the front

Honey I'm Good got the better of GREAT D'ANGE when the pair met over an extended 3m3f at Stratford last month, but the winning distance may have flattered the former given that the runner-up's stamina appeared to wane close home. Now stepping back in trip, Barry Brennan's charge can gain his revenge. Hold Your Fort completed a C&D hat-trick and rounds out the shortlist, for all that this mark demands another career best from him.

HOLD YOUR FORT is improving in leaps and bounds and clearly goe well here. He is taken to extend his winning run. A Definite Getaway and Honey I'm Good head the list of dangers.

Three-time point winner HOLD YOUR FORT has made remarkable progress over C&D this summer and might extend his winning spree.

DIPPEDINMOONLIGHT was a wide-margin winner of her point-to-point which saw her sold for six figures. The daughter of Zarak then found one too good in her first bumper at Down Royal. The horse that beat her there is highly thought of, so there was plenty of merit in that racecourse bow and she was well backed to deliver. Diamond Tipp is a more than credible opponent as she has finished second in her last couple of bumpers at Tramore and Bellewstown, while Sam Curling's Lord Ffrench has a chance in light of his debut third at Cork in July.

DIPPEDINMOONLIGHT showed inexperience when runner-up at Down Royal three weeks ago but there was enough encouragement to think he can get off the mark at the second attempt. Diamond Tipp improved on her latest outing and looks the main danger, although Low Expectations is an intereseting newcomer.

Runner-up to a good yardstick at Down Royal in her first bumper, point winner DIPPEDINMOONLIGHT is tipped to go one place better.

Top Of The Class made the most of stall one when landing the spoils over track and trip last month. However, the combination of a 4lb higher rating and a much higher draw could be enough to prevent her from following up. With that in mind, KING OF FURY may gain a belated breakthrough victory after several creditable efforts in defeat in recent months. Beauty Generation also warrants consideration on his return to Polytrack.

Plenty in with a squeak but KING OF FURY posted just about his best effort yet when runner-up at Yarmouth last month and he's fancied to go one better and open his account at the expense of Top of The Class, who has a fine record at this track and bids to make it 3 wins from her last 4 starts. Havana Touch can edge out Unreal Connection for third spot.

King Of Fury should go well again but the vote goes to TOP OF THE CLASS, who's looking for a third C&D win of the season upped 4lb.

Dual winner JAMES HENRY has an excellent record over this course and has good recent form. Either a winner or runner-up from seven of ten course starts, he was beaten only a short-head here in February before he returned with a fine effort over five furlongs at the Curragh last month. He has strong claims with his rider again claiming 3lb. Three-year-old Fivecromwellplace is already a course-and-distance winner and was also placed at the Curragh recently. He runs in a first-time visor today from a career high rating. Four of Distillate's five wins have been on turf and despite being lightly-enough raced at this venue, has winning course-and-distance form and should get involved from her rating.

Lightly-raced MAGS caught the eye on both her starts in handicaps so could be the answer. The 3-y-os could well dominate with Fivecromwellplace and Princess Aurea heading the dangers.

SATURN SEVEN has a wide draw to overcome, however, the form of her Curragh fourth in May looks really strong

A return to Polytrack saw GOT NO DOLLARS scythe through the field to score at Chelmsford last month. A 2lb nudge up the ratings looks more than workable for Stuart Williams' gelding and a seventh career victory on the all-weather could beckon. Calanthe made a successful handicap debut at Lingfield last week and warrants respect under a 6lb penalty. He may give the selection most to think about, ahead of Nazalan, who sports a first-time visor.

CALANTHE still has few miles on the clock and got off the mark at Lingfield last week. He can follow up. Got No Dollars and Dembe should also go well.

Calanthe will rightly be popular under a penalty, but DEMBE looks well treated again back under his optimal conditions.

MARBLE ANGEL has escaped with just a 4lb penalty for winning over today's course-and-distance last month and could well progress further at this distance. All her early form had been over sprint distances but seemed to relish this mile trip in winning well last month, while that form has received notable boosts with the runner-up scoring next time and the third and fourth-placed horses each being subsequently placed. She looks well handicapped and has the inside draw. Comfort Line and Morning Approach have been running well but aren't ahead of the handicapper. Four of Feature This' five career wins (which have all come at this distance) have been achieved at this course and she has place claims.

Billy Lee takes the reins on Marble Angel, who can make light of a 4 lb rise for her C&D success 5 weeks ago. Morning Approach has been running well on turf lately and won over C&D last winter so she's a possible threat. Comfort Line is another who knows where the winning post is here and could play a prominent role assuming a wide stall isn't too much of an inconvenience.

The form of her C&D win last time was boosted by the runner-up and MARBLE ANGEL can score again of 4lb higher.

Having been described as 'black type' by Cieren Fallon after her debut victory at Redcar and then following up under a penalty over C&D, an opening mark of 85 may prove lenient for COGNISANCE. William Haggas' filly ticks plenty of the right boxes and a hat-trick is on the cards. An improved performance is forecast from the downgraded D Flawless, who could prove dangerous if allowed an easy lead. Last month's track-and-trip novice winner Upscale enters handicaps off what looks a workable rating and further progression cannot be ruled out either.

COGNISANCE showed a willing attitude when scoring over C&D last month and it's likely we haven't seen the best of her yet. She can score again. Upscale and Inherit may give her most to think about.

D Flawless and Upscale both remain of interest but COGNISANCE (nap) is taken to make it 3-3 before her sights are raised.

NAPPER TANDY hasn't run on the Flat since September 2022 but has been running well over hurdles and has a good record on all-weather surfaces. Already a hurdle winner this summer, he finished third at Listed level at the Galway festival and while his lack of a recent Flat outing is a small concern, competes from a career low rating and is suited by this distance. Stariam has been running consistently well in country maidens and while frustrating to follow, is interesting competing in her first handicap today, albeit her ability to handle this surface is as yet unproven. Curious Bride has good recent form but would ideally prefer further.

This step back up in trip looks a good move for POLEMON, who was fourth over 9f at Cork recently and, though 0-5 on the all-weather, he went close on polytrack for previous connections in the UK last year. Napper Tandy hasn't been seen out on the Flat for some time but he was a hurdles winner as recently as June and resumes in this sphere on a potentially handy mark. He is therefore feared most ahead of Squire Danagher, while French Company is a viable each-way option.

Having won well over 1m4f at Tipperary, POLEMON ran a fine race over an inadequate trip at Cork since and could win again.

LIOSA arrives here on the back of two second-placed finishes over this distance at Wolverhampton and the four-year-old has been found an ideal opportunity to go one better in this company. Lilkian's third at Lingfield a month ago suggests that he may be the main threat to the selection, although Havana Sky and Profitman are others who merit places on the shortlist.

LIOSA again left the impression that he's on a good mark and capable of producing a much bigger performance when things drop his way when second at Wolverhampton 2 weeks ago so is worth persevering with. Havana Sky is worth another chance in a handicap back at a more suitable trip so is feared most ahead of Lilkian, who was a back-to-form third at Lingfield last month.

Liosa has been banging at the door but HAVANA SKY could take another step forward now back up at 6f.

STEP TO SOMEWHERE ran well on recent handicap debut and has already shown form on this surface. Out of a Listed winner, she was well beaten in that sole course run last April but that was her career debut, while the first two finishers are now Stakes performers. The selection shaped well at Clonmel and reverting back up a furlong should suit, as she again competes in this 47-65 bracket. Explorers Way doesn't appear ahead of the handicapper but has an excellent record at this distance and four of his five wins have come on the all-weather. Others to consider are Elsa's Pride and Audscar.

ELSA'S PRIDE's stamina was stretched upped to 14.4f at Killarney last time and she is appealing now back down in trip on this all-weather debut. Next on the list is Explorers Way, who boasts a healthy strike rate on synthetics and he is on a workable mark. Audscar has shown glimmers of ability and could go well at a price, while Step To Somewhere gave it a good shot in the first-time visor at Clonmel and she will be a threat if the headgear works equally well second time round.

After a fine handicap debut at Clonmel over a furlong shorter, STEP TO SOMEWHERE (nap) looks ready to go one better over this trip.

PURE OF HEART appeared to have plenty in hand when scoring over 1m4f at Lingfield last week and the unexposed three-year-old is 2lb well-in here, despite carrying a 6lb penalty. With that in mind, she gets the vote ahead of Baroque Buoy, who also won on his most recent outing and may have more to offer. Others to note are Orbital, Tortured Soul and Just An Hour.

Twice a winner on all-weather this summer, ORBITAL arrives on the back of a good second at Lingfield (12f) 6 days ago and, with the drop back in trip holding no fears, she edges the vote to get back to winning ways. Last-time-out winners Baroque Buoy and Pure of Heart are others to consider.

Money for Jack Sparowe would be significant, but BAROQUE BUOY holds leading claims having proved so consistent in AW handicaps.

MAKAIAH has largely unexciting form but ran satisfactorily in first-time blinkers in a recent Claimer and should compete over a longer distance today. She was well held by the winner at Gowran but the third-placed filly - whom she met off level-weights, was subsequently placed with a rating of 60, suggesting the selection should herself prove competitive from 57. Gardone was well supported on his first two runs of 2024 and while easy turf ground might not have suited then, he is nonetheless 5lb higher than when winning over course-and-distance last month (when racing from out of the handicap). Picpoul has a good course record although seems better over slightly further.

The vote goes to STEPDANCE, who shaped well on debut for this yard in the C&D handicap won by Gardone last month, which was her first run for the best part of a year. She found 12.5f too much of a test at Tipperary since and is appealing back down in trip with Shane Foley in the hot-seat. Picpoul is a regular here and, having been placed off similar marks on three of her last four starts at up to 1½m here, she is likely to be in the thick of things once more. Chopsticks is also shortlisted.

CHOPSTICKS was a well beaten favourite over C&D last time but the run might have come too soon after his cracking Leopardstown third.
Class & Speed Card

ANGEL ON HIGH bounced back to form when second over 1m2f at Brighton last time and a reproduction of that level of form off the same mark would give the seven-year-old a big chance here. Miss Dubai is a consistent performer who is likely to be in the mix once again, while the unexposed Drouthy Neebor and Fravanco complete the shortlist.

FRAVANCO was too free over 1¾m at Salisbury three weeks ago and is of strong interest back down in trip and returned to the all-weather. He may well have most to fear from Angel On High, who has been knocking on the door in recent months, while Private Bryan is likely to find this scenario more suitable than the one he encountered at Ffos Las and he is third choice.

The vote goes to LARGO BAY who is 15lb lower than when winning this race two years ago and has dropped 2lb below his last winning mark.
Class & Speed Card

BARD OF AVON ran promisingly on Leopardstown debut last October and returned from 308 days off when again running well - in a race which is working out well, at the Curragh last month. By Galileo and out of an Australian Group 3 winner, he presumably met with a setback earlier this year but was nicely supported on Curragh reappearance, when running well. He was well held by winner Fighter, who recently easily won the Petingo Handicap during Champions Festival while the runner-up has also won subsequently. Raydamann disappointed in that Curragh maiden but had previously finished second over this C&D in July with Psalm finishing third.

PSALM should be bang there on the pick of his form and is preferred to Raydamann, Bard of Avon and Daboya

It should only be a matter of time before Aidan O'Brien unlocks the key to PSALM, and the son of Sea The Stars gets the vote.
Ths is the racecard key.
