14:05 Carlisle (Class 5) 5f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Although GWEN JOHN has to give 4lb to all of her rivals here, with the William Haggas yard in good form she is hard to oppose. Second on her debut at Windsor, she went one better last week at the same track when winning by a length, only needing to be pushed out for victory. Harry Burns claims 3lb from the saddle here and they could prove too good for Pontefract third Lily Pearl and interesting newcomer Rogue Citation.

Top of the list is GWEN JOHN, who won in good style at Windsor last week and can strike again under a penalty to make it 2-3.

14:40 Carlisle (Class 5) 5f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Trainer Bryan Smart has won three of the last eight runnings of this race and has a lively contender once more in SOLE SPIRIT, who has won both races this season since being gelded. Promise Time has a 6lb penalty for a narrow victory but he was value for more after a troubled passage and he looks a huge danger, leaving Tarlac for the minor placing.

This should revolve around the two progressive geldings Promise Time and SOLE SPIRIT, with slight preference for the latter.

15:15 Carlisle (Class 6) 11f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

A confident vote goes to unexposed three-year-old SIDNEY STRATTON. Having made little impact in novice/maiden company, the King Of Change gelding took a big leap forward to finish second on his handicap bow over C&D last month. Returning to a sounder surface should suit and he can go one place better. Rosso Levanto caught the eye in a selling handicap at Beverley and appeals as one of the likelier candidates, while the well-handicapped Educate heads the remainder.

The vote goes to Micky Hammond's lightly raced SIDNEY STRATTON who can build on an improved C&D second last month to get off the mark.

15:50 Carlisle (Class 4) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

MASTER RICHARD made virtually every yard of the running when successful by a length in this class at Southwell last month and is just 4lb higher. As long as the six-year-old transfers that form to turf, he will prove hard to beat. Paws For Thought showed more when second at Haydock earlier in the month and should remain competitive with David Nolan taking over in the plate. Count Palatine completes the shortlist.

The vote goes to MASTER RICHARD, who got back on the scoresheet when making all at Southwell and a 4lb rise that success looks fair.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Patricia R made a winning debut at Thirsk prior to producing another good effort when second at Doncaster and she is likely to be on the premises. However, CRYSTAL DAGGER shaped with bundles of promise to fill the runner-up spot on her introduction at Redcar last month and would have learnt a great deal from that experience. Elizabeth Bay isn't out of it either.

Three of these are closely matched on the figures but CRYSTAL DAGGER gets the vote ahead of Patricia R and Elizabeth Bay.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

OPERATION GIMCRACK has taken the silver medal home in two of his last three appearances, most recently at Doncaster, and he remains on an appealing mark. Bryan Smart's five-year-old looks to have found a suitable opportunity to gain his first career success. Tootsie finished a close third over a mile at Redcar earlier in the month and should mount a serious challenge, while Miss Cast is another to note.

This can go to TOOTSIE (nap) who enjoyed far from a trouble-free run when third at Redcar and can gain compensation off the same mark

About U.K Horse Racing

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.

There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.

The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.

Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.

In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.

Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
