9/4(+18%) | (3) Harbour Island 9/4, Improved to defy a penalty when winning a bumper at Ffos Las over 2m by 1 1/2l last time. Unbeaten in that sphere and ought to go close on hurdle debut. Won both bumpers last season, over 2m on good to soft at Wetherby and Ffos Las.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (6/1 +25%)Atlantic Lad |
6/1(+25%) | (2) Atlantic Lad 6/1, Ran to form and was just out-battled late, having looked the winner when second, beaten 8l in a maiden hurdle over 2m at Leicester. Effective at 2m and handles cut; likely to get further in time, with this stiff track expected to suit. Placed on all three starts over hurdles last season, on testing ground.. |

150/1(-88%) | (8) Free Pic 150/1, Poor debut when comfortably held in a maiden hurdle at Market Rasen last time. A Flat winner who is yet to convince with stamina for hurdling. Beaten 49l when sixth of seven on hurdles debut at Market Rasen last month.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (125/1 -89%)Rivers Of Whiskey |
125/1(-89%) | (6) Rivers Of Whiskey 125/1, Green and modest on debut when well beaten in a bumper at Newcastle. Returns from a long layoff and runs for the second time after a wind operation; difficult to fancy. Beaten 26l on rules debut when seventh of nine in bumper at Newcastle in February.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Having posted three creditable efforts in defeat over hurdles last season, Atlantic Lad should put his experience to good use. However, there are some smart-looking bumper performers on display, with MYDADDYPADDY topping the bill. Dan Skelton's charge scythed through the field to score by 11 lengths at Huntingdon in March and he may take all the beating if taking to timber. Double bumper winner Harbour Island also looks a decent prospect and is feared most.

This looks best left to the unbeaten bumper winners with preference for MYDADDYPADDY ahead of Harbour Island.

1/6(+75%) | (6) Real Quartz 1/6, Produced a very promising effort when winning by 4 1/2l in a maiden over 3m at Boulta on debut; returning from a long layoff and holds a minor chance. Bought for £190,000 after his Irish point win; interesting on rules debut for Dan Skelton. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) (12/1 -20%)Oh Clare |

50/1(+50%) | (5) King Horse 50/1, Ran to form when fourth, beaten 43l, in an auction over 3m at Loughrea last time; has plenty to find. Well held in his two completed starts in Irish points; best watched on hurdling debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Bought for 190,000 pounds after impressing in a 3m Irish point-to-point a year ago, Real Quartz is likely to be at the forefront of the market on his hurdle/stable bow for Dan Skelton. Although the five-year-old isn't taken lightly, it may pay to side with KENT DE THAIX, who completed a double between the flags in May. Since then, the son of Cokoriko has changed hands for 65,000 pounds and he looks the one to side with. French import Inedit D'amour is the pick of the remainder.

Preference is for Dan Skelton's new recruit REAL QUARTZ, who was bought for £190,000 after his easy Irish point win.

1st (2) (7/1 -17%)Whistleinthedark |
7/1(-17%) | (2) Whistleinthedark 7/1, Travelled but found little and was unable to dominate when comfortably held in a handicap chase over 3m at Perth last time; returning from a break and can be inconsistent, wanting to dictate matters. Fair claims with easy lead possible. His last win was after a break and needs a close look with Brian Hughes booked on return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (13/8 +13%)The Widdow Maker |
13/8(+13%) | (5) The Widdow Maker 13/8, Ran to form when 4 1/4l third in a handicap chase over 2m3f at Stratford on his most recent run; likes to make the running; effective over 2–2 1/2m and on good to soft or good ground; back in form and still well treated on past efforts. Only 1lb higher than for last win and was placed on Stratford reappearance; interesting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (15/2 -67%)Ilikedwayurthinkin |
15/2(-67%) | (3) Ilikedwayurthinkin 15/2, Had every chance but was comfortably held in a handicap chase over 3m1f at Cartmel last time; returns from a short break and may find this mark demanding. Awarded a Cartmel handicap (3m5f) in May but he's been well held in both runs since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (5/1 -100%)Dubai Days |
5/1(-100%) | (4) Dubai Days 5/1, Made mistakes but ran to form when second, beaten 13l, in a handicap chase at Perth on his latest start; usually held up and a consistent performer. Generally reliable 11yo; returns after wind surgery and he's respected off workable mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (11/2 -10%)Stoner's Choice |
11/2(-10%) | (1) Stoner's Choice 11/2, Needed the run and was well held by less exposed rivals down the field in a handicap hurdle at Cheltenham on his most recent start; has a bit to find. Well held in last two starts and his last run over fences was in 2022; others preferred. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

THE WIDDOW MAKER is a rare runner at this course for the Joe Tizzard team and a sixth career victory could be on the horizon. A recent third-placed seasonal debut at Stratford should have put the 11-year-old spot-on and he shades the verdict over C&D winner Dubai Days. The latter finished his last campaign with a respectable second at Perth and a subsequent wind procedure should only help. Stoner's Choice may fare best of the remainder.

This is a tight call but recent Stratford third THE WIDDOW MAKER gets the vote ahead of Dubai Days and Whistleinthedark.

Unexposed hurdler who made late headway when fourth at Worcester last month; not ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (11) (33/1 +0%)Roxby Belle |
33/1(+0%) | (11) Roxby Belle 33/1, Outpaced and never threatened, looking in need of a stiffer test when comfortably held in a novice hurdle over 2m at Hexham last time; usually held up; step up in trip should suit now handicapping but yet to prove capable off even this basement mark. Struggled in her qualifying runs and needs lots of improvement on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (4/1 +0%)Bo Cruz |
4/1(+0%) | (3) Bo Cruz 4/1, Suited by the step up in trip and improved on handicap debut when 6 1/4l third in a handicap hurdle at Newcastle last time; may get even further. Placed on handicap debut at Newcastle in March and he's in the mix on his return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (6/1 -50%)Always A Reason |
6/1(-50%) | (6) Always A Reason 6/1, Travelled well and ran to form but did not find as much as expected on handicap debut when beaten 7l in a handicap hurdle at Hexham last time; usually held up. Still early days over hurdles but he needs improvement on his return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (6/1 -50%)Cahier's Den |
6/1(-50%) | (1) Cahier's Den 6/1, Green and made mistakes when running to form to finish a 5 1/2l third in a maiden hurdle over 2m3f here last time; effective from 2m to 2m5f on good or good to soft ground; consistent in a short career. Point winner who still has potential over hurdles and looks interesting on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (9) (12/1 +64%)Kalo Athena |
12/1(+64%) | (9) Kalo Athena 12/1, Still green and continued in poor form when comfortably held in a novice hurdle over 2m6f at Cartmel last time; usually held up; returning from a break. 2-2 in Irish points but hasn't shown a great deal in four hurdle runs; handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (10) (11/1 +31%)Rock N Roll Champ |
11/1(+31%) | (10) Rock N Roll Champ 11/1, Pulled up in a handicap chase at Hexham last time; didn't take to chasing; plenty to prove back in this sphere. Overall record of 0-13 and pulled up over fences when last seen in June; opposable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (7) (11/2 +45%)Dixie Cowboy |
11/2(+45%) | (7) Dixie Cowboy 11/2, May have found the ground a bit quick when comfortably held in a handicap hurdle over 2m6f at Stratford last time; absent for a very lengthy period but can do better. Overall record of 0-10 and has something to prove after a long absence. |

10th (5) (18/1 -50%)Long Time Listener |
18/1(-50%) | (5) Long Time Listener 18/1, Not a clear run and had a lot to do, never put into the race on final qualifying run when 14l third in a novice hurdle over 2m1f at Sedgefield last time; from a top course trainer and the pick on balance of form with promise of more to come now handicapping over further. No impact under rules or in points but he looks a possible improver on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (2) (6/1 -9%)Rose's Dart |
6/1(-9%) | (2) Rose's Dart 6/1, Outpaced and unsuited by the drop in trip when comfortably held in a maiden hurdle over 2m at Perth last time; usually held up; effective around 2 1/2m; showed promise in first couple of starts and can bounce back stepped back up in trip in handicaps. Handicap newcomer and she could resume her progress back up in trip; needs close look. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Dearkeithandkaty failed to land a blow when fourth on handicap debut at Warwick last month, but that was still an improved effort and he could get closer. ROSE'S DART made the frame over an extended 2m3f at Wetherby in March and may have not appreciated the drop in trip when only sixth at Perth on her return to action last month. The daughter of Dartmouth steps up in distance on her handicap bow and the booking of Brian Hughes catches the eye. Bo Cruz isn't ruled out either.

This looks tricky but the vote goes to BO CRUZ, who has being getting better with practice and is open to more progress this season.

8/11(+55%) | (5) Steel Ally 8/11, Pulled up in a 2m4f handicap hurdle at Aintree on his latest outing. Trainer in form and wears a tongue-tie for the first time. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (9/4 -13%)Unexpected Party |
9/4(-13%) | (4) Unexpected Party 9/4, Never put into the race and needed the run when comfortably held in a handicap chase at Cheltenham last time. Effective over 2m and acts on soft and good ground; consistent but may need to drop a few pounds in the handicap. Finished a cleasr second in this race last year and he's a key player on the figures. |

3rd (3) (3/1 0%)Path D'oroux |
3/1(0%) | (3) Path D'oroux 3/1, Pulled up in a Listed novice handicap chase over 2m4f at Punchestown on his latest start but generally a consistent performer. Just 1-16 over fences but he has plenty of useful form in this sphere; dangerous on return. |

18/1(-13%) | (2) Hombre De Guerra 18/1, Well backed and improved again when winning a 2m1f handicap chase at Ayr by 3/4l last time. Record of 2-3 over fences but this is very challenging at the weights on his return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (1) (28/1 -180%)Classic Maestro |
28/1(-180%) | (1) Classic Maestro 28/1, Made mistakes when well backed but jumping was an issue when finishing a 27l third in a 2m3f handicap chase at Catterick on his latest run. Returning from a long layoff and likes to race prominently but looks difficult to fancy. Dual chase winner but was disappointing in final run last term and this looks a tough task. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

Steel Ally was only beaten a neck into second in the National Spirit over the smaller obstacles at Fontwell in February and is an interesting contender on his chasing bow. However, UNEXPECTED PARTY could only manage fifth on his return at Cheltenham last month, but is likely to take a step forward from that display. With Harry Skelton back on board, he could prove a tough nut to crack. Of the remainder, Path D'oroux makes the most appeal.

Top of the list is useful hurdler STEEL ALLY, who is a big player if he can run near his best on this first start over fences.

50/1(-100%) | (10) Nottodaybobo 50/1, Outpaced and below form when well beaten in a 2m4f handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter last time; returning from a break and on a good mark based on chase form, likely to do better over further on easier ground. The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Book of Secrets was just touched off into second at Newton Abbot on his most recent start and should remain competitive. Russian Virtue filled the runner-up spot at Uttoxeter when last seen in this sphere and is noted, but JACKPOT D'AINAY gets the vote. Olly Murphy's charge finished third at Sandown in February and could have more to come on just his second outing in a handicap.

The vote goes to DISCO ANNIE (nap), who won this race last year and her last success was off today's mark.

Got off the mark at Newcastle in March 2023 when last seen.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

DOLLAR COLLAR displayed some promise when filling third place on just her second start over fences at Hexham a month ago and that recent run gives the seven-year-old a big edge here. On the pick of her form, Northern Air would be a big threat to the selection but she can be unpredictable, while Ostrava Du Berlais and Celestial Fashion are others to consider.

This can be another for the Skeltons with the lightly raced NORTHERN AIR. Similar Story rates the main danger.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Point winner Frankies Fortune put in a slightly underwhelming effort when fifth over C&D on her Rules debut but it is too soon to be writing her off. That said, a chance can be taken on LUNE BRILLANTE, who cost 105,000 pounds as a store and she is closely related to multiple bumper winners. Others to note are Halftheworldaway, Trinity Street and Dreaming Of The Dr.

It may pay to side with the Dan Skelton-trained LUNE BRILLIANTE who is related to several winners. Trinity Street is second choice.
Ths is the racecard key.
