1st (1) (1/4 -14%)Cristal D'estruval |
1/4(-14%) | (1) Cristal D'estruval 1/4, Very promising debut when given a positive ride at a sharp track, winning a maiden hurdle at Warwick by 3l last time. Effective at 2m and acts on good to soft ground. With debut form franked, the stiffer track and longer trip look a plus and he can follow up. Impressed at Warwick and can make light work of a penalty en route to bigger things. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (14/1 +13%)Another High Five |
14/1(+13%) | (2) Another High Five 14/1, Outpaced and modest debut, comfortably held in a novice hurdle at Kelso last time. Returns from a long absence and acts on good ground. Likely to need longer trips in future. Irish point runner-up; probably better than he showed on rules debut last October. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (8/1 +60%)Ayyadieh |
8/1(+60%) | (3) Ayyadieh 8/1, Poor effort when finishing down the field in a maiden at Dromahane most recently. Returning from a long layoff and has plenty to find. Comfortably held in Irish points but well related and should do better under rules. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (40/1 -82%)Takeyoutotheisland |
40/1(-82%) | (8) Takeyoutotheisland 40/1, Green under pressure on a modest debut, well beaten in an Amateurs' bumper at Ayr on only start. Hard to recommend on that evidence. Prominent to a point at Ayr (soft-ground bumper) but faded to be beaten 20l; opposable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (150/1 -50%)Road To Rosley |
150/1(-50%) | (7) Road To Rosley 150/1, Pulled up in a handicap hurdle at Perth last time and absent for a very lengthy period since. Effective at 2m and has shown best form here, but has plenty to prove after the layoff. Eight-race maiden and now exposed as limited; instantly opposable in a race of this nature. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (50/1 +0%)Je Mr Dawson |
50/1(+0%) | (5) Je Mr Dawson 50/1, Never put into the race and well beaten in a novice hurdle here last time. Effective at around 2½m and can do better if ridden more positively. Beaten 20l in an Ayr bumper and a little further in a 2m3f novice here last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (28/1 -12%)Beans On Toast |
28/1(-12%) | (4) Beans On Toast 28/1, Improved when second, beaten 14l in a maiden at Portrush last time. Off a short break and hard to recommend here. Placed in three of his five Irish points; unlikely winner of this but has a future. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (6) (8/1 -60%)Matching Energy |
8/1(-60%) | (6) Matching Energy 8/1, Keen but very promising debut when winning a bumper at Hexham by a head last time. More to come now hurdling and looks the main alternative to the favourite. The bumper he won at Hexham looked weak; probably placed at best. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (150/1 -127%)Moonlight Trail |
150/1(-127%) | (9) Moonlight Trail 150/1, Modest bumper debut when well beaten in a maiden bumper at Hexham on only start. Trainer in form but returning from a long layoff and difficult to fancy. 50-1 and beat only the one home in a Hexham bumper on good to soft. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

CRISTAL D'ESTRUVAL was purchased for 400,000 pounds after gamely defeating a subsequent bumper winner in an Irish point-to-point in February. After a successful hurdles debut Warwick last month, Harry Derham's progressive four-year-old appears capable of brushing aside a 7lb penalty. Matching Energy, a winner between the flags before landing a bumper at Hexham in the summer, is feared the most. The fellow point recruits Another High Five and Beans On Toast are others to monitor in the betting.

The chances are that CRISTAL D'ESTRUVAL is a Graded performer in the making and he's likely to defy a penalty in this company.

1st (1) (10/3 +26%)Pitwood Road |
10/3(+26%) | (1) Pitwood Road 10/3, Pulled up in a handicap chase at Perth last time; inconsistent in that sphere; fair mark on best form; among the contenders if bouncing back. Dual winner; has lost his way but interesting to see what Nicky Richards can do with him. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (6/1 -50%)Always A Reason |
6/1(-50%) | (7) Always A Reason 6/1, Improved from reappearance to win a handicap by a length off 90 at Southwell last time; usually held up; effective from 2½m to 2¾m and may have a little more to offer after that success. Southwell winner off 3lb lower; open to further progress after only six races. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (9/4 +0%)Drop Kick |
9/4(+0%) | (8) Drop Kick 9/4, Won by a neck off 85 here two starts ago; ran to form next time when second beaten 4½l off 91; that form franked; effective at 2m4f on soft or good ground and still progressing. Beaten 4.5l off 1lb lower here the last time but this gelding is still only a 4yo. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (14/1 +50%)Lord De Vinci |
14/1(+50%) | (5) Lord De Vinci 14/1, Below form on handicap debut when stepped up in trip, finishing down the field in a handicap hurdle at Ayr; returning from a long break; effective around 2½m but looks on a stiff mark. Didn't look that well treated for handicap debut at Ayr in March (3m) and duly struggled. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (12/1 -71%)Half Track |
12/1(-71%) | (6) Half Track 12/1, Unseated rider in a handicap hurdle here latest; stays 2m4f to 3m and handles heavy or good ground; fair mark on spring form; not dismissed. Well treated and wasn't unbacked when unseating mid-race here two weeks ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (20/1 +0%)Interchangeable |
20/1(+0%) | (2) Interchangeable 20/1, Travelled well but flattened out up the hill when fourth beaten 11l in a handicap hurdle here last time; effective from 2m to 2m4f on soft or good ground; showing signs of revival for new stable. Faded when it mattered here 14 days ago but did make a bold move before two out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (11/4 +31%)Shadow Chaser |
11/4(+31%) | (4) Shadow Chaser 11/4, Returned to form down in trip after a break when second beaten 5l in a handicap hurdle at Ayr last time; effective from 2½m to 3m and needs to build on that improvement. Made a positive start for this yard when runner-up at Ayr (2m3f, soft). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) (40/1 -21%)Sao Carlos |
40/1(-21%) | (3) Sao Carlos 40/1, Pulled up in a handicap hurdle at Ayr latest; best at around 2m on good ground but recent form has dipped. Signed off for former yard on a downer and he was pulled up on debut for this one. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

DROP KICK won over 2m4f here on his penultimate start and wasn't disgraced in finishing second in a rough race over track and trip last month. Nudged up 1lb, the son of Wings Of Eagles can make his course experience count. The recent Southwell winner Always A Reason also commands respect off just 3lb higher. Shadow Chaser made a promising debut for Sandy Thomson at Ayr last month and his match-fitness makes him an appealing alternative.

A few of these have claims and they include dual winner PITWOOD ROAD whose new stable is going well.

1st (5) (4/1 +20%)Kent De Thaix |
4/1(+20%) | (5) Kent De Thaix 4/1, Improved up in trip when beaten 10l in a novice hurdle at Newcastle last time; effective at 3m in points and acts on soft and good to firm ground. Progressing well. Fared surprisingly well in a useful 2m6f novice at Newcastle and that brings him into it. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (40/1 -122%)Canunclecani |
40/1(-122%) | (1) Canunclecani 40/1, Needed the run when finishing down the field in a novice hurdle here most recently; effective at 2m1f and acts on soft ground, though his current mark looks stiff. Probably needs more than when he was second over 2m1f here earlier in the year. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (4/1 +20%)Idaho Valley |
4/1(+20%) | (4) Idaho Valley 4/1, Ran to form when second, beaten 5l, in a novice hurdle at Sedgefield last time; effective from 2m to 2½m and acts on any ground. Consistent if a touch frustrating. Irish point winner who has been placed in four of his six races over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (5/6 +0%)Stride On |
5/6(+0%) | (7) Stride On 5/6, Improved on bumper efforts when second, beaten 8½l, in a novice hurdle at Ayr last time; effective around 2m and acts on soft and good to soft ground. Likely to improve up in trip. Bumper winner and probably beaten by a very good horse on his hurdling debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (15/2 -15%)U S Marshall |
15/2(-15%) | (8) U S Marshall 15/2, Made a promising hurdle debut when third, beaten 7½l, in a novice hurdle at Uttoxeter last time; effective around 2m and acts on heavy ground. Should improve for further in time. Showed promise when third on hurdle debut at Uttoxeter, though likely to need more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (80/1 +20%)Rock On Max |
80/1(+20%) | (6) Rock On Max 80/1, Never competitive and comfortably held in a maiden hurdle at Hexham last time; effective at 3m in points but needs more time. Didn't show all that much in his points and a similar story at Hexham. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (16/1 -45%)Humble Jumble |
16/1(-45%) | (3) Humble Jumble 16/1, Improved from debut when finishing a 12l third in a novice hurdle at Kelso last time; effective over about 2¾m and acts on good to soft ground. The form of his bumper win has knocks but he is improving over hurdles. Kelso bumper winner; second hurdle run was much better than the first; considered. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (2) (25/1 +24%)Coylton King |
25/1(+24%) | (2) Coylton King 25/1, Green and made mistakes when well beaten in a novice hurdle at Ayr last time; trainer in form. Effective around 2m and acts on soft ground; step up in trip should suit. All three runs at Ayr, the pick when fourth in a soft-ground bumper. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

STRIDE ON made a pleasing hurdles debut when he finished second to a promising type at Ayr last month. With that experience to draw upon, the son of Walk In The Park, who also impressed in winning a bumper at Newcastle in January, could be tough to reel in if allowed to set the fractions again. U S Marshall has a similar profile and warrants close inspection in the betting, while Idaho Valley is another potential improver over this trip.

The suggestion is STRIDE ON who bumped into a good prospect last time and he'll appreciate this stiffer test of stamina.

1st (3) (2/1 +43%)Nab Wood |
2/1(+43%) | (3) Nab Wood 2/1, Won by 1 1/4l off 123 at Ayr on his penultimate start; raced a bit freely and travelled well but was slightly below form when flattening out late, finishing sixth beaten 13l off 128 in a strongly run race up in grade last time; effective 2m4f to 3m, acts on soft and good to soft; had been progressive until latest run. Well held off career-high mark at Haydock but this won't be quite so challenging. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (11/4 -22%)Letos |
11/4(-22%) | (1) Letos 11/4, Keen and travelled strongly, improving up in trip on testing ground when landing a Brown Lad Handicap Hurdle (Listed) by 1 1/2l off 119 over 2m4f at Naas last time; effective from 2m to 2m4f and suited by cut; progressing since his move from France. Travelled strongly throughout when winning a 2m4f Listed handicap at Naas. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (3/1 -33%)Roaring Conquest |
3/1(-33%) | (2) Roaring Conquest 3/1, Improved down in grade on handicap debut, landing a handicap by 1 1/2l off 125 at Windsor last time; effective around 2m4f to 3m and acts on soft and good to soft ground; progressing, fairly treated and should come on for that run. Raised 5lb for his fairly cosy win at Windsor and has potential for further progress. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (13/2 +59%)Rocheval |
13/2(+59%) | (6) Rocheval 13/2, Below form when comfortably held in a handicap hurdle at Wetherby last time; effective from 2m to 2 1/2m; struggling this season. Twice disappointed since returning from break and could have stamina issues over this far. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (12/1 -140%)Hay Meadow |
12/1(-140%) | (4) Hay Meadow 12/1, Went clear comfortably and improved when landing a handicap by 13l off 113 at Hexham last time; effective between 2m and 2 1/2m; progressing. Clearly improving after winning so well at Hexham; handicapper pushed her up 10lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (20/1 -67%)Caughtinyourtrance |
20/1(-67%) | (5) Caughtinyourtrance 20/1, Tired late on when up in trip and pestered up front, finishing fourth beaten 11l in a handicap hurdle at Cartmel last time; returning from a break; effective at 2m6f, acts on soft and good ground; fairly treated on novice form. Dual Cartmel winner; only fourth on handicap there but did get pestered up front. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

LETOS has untapped potential and must be respected after winning a Listed race over 2m4f at Naas last month. The French-bred gelding has the build of a stayer and this could open new doors for the progressive five-year-old if he copes with stepping up in distance. Roaring Conquest stayed on well to score over 3m at Windsor most recently and is another strong contender. Fellow last-time-out winner Hay Meadow has proven stamina from his point-to-point days and also warrants close inspection.

Irish raider LETOS (nap) impressed in how he went about his business in winning a Listed handicap at Naas. He can go in again.

1st (1) (7/2 +42%)Fostered Phil |
7/2(+42%) | (1) Fostered Phil 7/2, Outpaced with too much to do but returned to form up in trip when fourth, beaten 7l in a handicap hurdle at Ayr last time. Effective from 2m to 2m4f and remains well treated on old form. Good fourth of eight at Ayr (2m4f) 13 days ago; this veteran ought to be thereabouts again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (20/1 -471%)Voodoo Angel |
20/1(-471%) | (5) Voodoo Angel 20/1, Returned to form down in trip on easy ground when fourth, beaten 4 1/4l in a handicap hurdle at Leicester last time. Effective from 2m to 2m4f and acts on soft and good ground; needs to build on that effort, and the stiff track should suit. Cheekpieces on when solid Leicester fourth latest; she needs to build on it now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (12/1 -9%)Wor Lad |
12/1(-9%) | (8) Wor Lad 12/1, Made mistakes, was outpaced, and never threatened but showed some improvement when comfortably held in a maiden hurdle at Musselburgh last time. Returning from a long layoff; effective at 2m1f and acts on good to soft ground; fair mark on maiden form and may just need this run. First form over hurdles when fifth at Musselburgh in March; possibilities on h'cap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (9) (13/2 +19%)Rock N Roll Champ |
13/2(+19%) | (9) Rock N Roll Champ 13/2, Had every chance but was comfortably held in a handicap hurdle at Ayr last time. Wears cheekpieces for the first time; effective over 2m4f but out of form recently. Yet to hit top form this season, fifth at Ayr 13 days ago; cheekpieces are reached for. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (5/2 +38%)Platin Moon |
5/2(+38%) | (2) Platin Moon 5/2, Made mistakes and didn't get home when comfortably held in a handicap hurdle at Ayr last time. Effective at 2m and acts on soft ground; the drop in trip should suit. Good sixth at Ayr latest; interesting with this return to shorter promising to suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (10) (7/2 +75%)Boyneside |
7/2(+75%) | (10) Boyneside 7/2, Needed the run after wind surgery when comfortably held in a handicap hurdle at Kelso last time. Now having a second run after the operation; effective from 2m4f to 3m and acts on soft and good to soft ground; should come on for the outing. Off 17 months/had breathing surgery before remote fifth at Kelso 26 days ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (80/1 -186%)Gandhi Maker |
80/1(-186%) | (4) Gandhi Maker 80/1, Pulled up in a handicap hurdle here last time. Effective over 2m4f and acts on any ground; out of form when last seen. Pulled up sole start for David Thompson over C&D; not easy to make a case for new stable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (6/1 -9%)Kellie's Dream |
6/1(-9%) | (7) Kellie's Dream 6/1, Raced far too freely and needed the run when down the field in a handicap hurdle at Ayr last time. Effective around 2m and acts on soft and good to soft ground; has struggled for form since moving from Ireland. Rusty after nine months off when ninth at Ayr 32 days ago; she can take a step forward. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (3) (18/1 -50%)Chosen Hero |
18/1(-50%) | (3) Chosen Hero 18/1, Made too much use of the pace and found the ground on the quick side when well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Sedgefield last time. Effective at 2m and acts with cut; appears regressive. Mostly out of sorts last season for Archie Watson; has it to prove for her new yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (28/1 -75%)Gone With The Tide |
28/1(-75%) | (6) Gone With The Tide 28/1, Pulled up in a handicap hurdle at Ayr last time. Effective over 2m4f but inconsistent. Remains winless in this sphere and was pulled up in 2m4f Ayr handicap hurdle 32 days ago. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

FOSTERED PHIL was dropped 2lb after his most recent fourth at Ayr which leaves him on his last winning mark and, in a contest that might not take much winning, the 11-year-old appears to have a very solid opportunity to strike. Voodoo Angel ran with credit on her handicap debut at Leicester and is entitled to improve from that display, while Rock N Roll Champ may appreciate first-time cheekpieces.

Nick Alexander's PLATIN MOON shaped as if the drop back in trip would suit when a free-going sixth at Ayr last time out so gets the nod

1st (3) (3/1 -85%)Capricciose |
3/1(-85%) | (3) Capricciose 3/1, Finished well when third, beaten 4l, in a maiden bumper here on debut; effective at 2m and acts on good to soft; could improve with a more positive ride. Encouraging third here last month and Brian Hughes rides again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (1/3 +70%)Sapphos Word |
1/3(+70%) | (6) Sapphos Word 1/3, A bit free in front but showed plenty of promise when second, beaten 3/4l, in an Amateurs' bumper at Uttoxeter; effective at 2m on good ground; debut form franked at Listed level and more to come under rules from this point winner. Uttoxeter form has been franked; should be hard to beat if okay on this softer ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (150/1 -88%)Aristelle |
150/1(-88%) | (1) Aristelle 150/1, Green on debut and well beaten in a 4yo bumper at Haydock on her only start; likely to need more time. Friendless in the betting for a Haydock bumper (good) and finished tailed off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (33/1 -106%)Run Around Susie |
33/1(-106%) | (5) Run Around Susie 33/1, Getaway mare whose profile offers limited insight at this stage. Bred to want further in time. Second foal; unraced dam half-sister to point winner Katie Dalie. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (50/1 -150%)Bollin Skittle |
50/1(-150%) | (2) Bollin Skittle 50/1, Linda's Lad mare whose dam was a hurdles winner at this course; the market may provide useful clues to her chance. Respected jumping pedigree and makes sense to check the betting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (14/1 -133%)Madam Blue |
14/1(-133%) | (4) Madam Blue 14/1, Improved when winning a maiden at Ballycrystal by 6 1/2l last time; returning from a long layoff and difficult to recommend. Picked up for £30,000 after coming good in her fourth Irish point. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

SAPPHOS WORD is entitled to come forward after her Rules debut when runner-up at Uttoxeter in October and she can continue the fine recent form of the Jamie Snowden yard. Capricciose stayed on with purpose when third on her first start over C&D and is expected to play a leading role once again. Newcomer Run Around Susie appeals most of the remainder.

It makes sense to stick with the two who have shown the best form and SAPPHOS WORD edges preference over Capricciose.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
