5/2(+62%) | (7) Sparksmith 5/2, Knew his job and produced a solid effort when third, beaten 5 1/4l, in a novice at Lingfield on debut; effective at 6f and should stay 7f; acts on the all-weather and looks open to improvement. 65,000euros breeze-up buy; 3rd of five on debut; could show the benefit of that experience. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (9/1 -200%)Allegrino |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (10/1 +17%)Havana Jag |
10/1(+17%) | (9) Havana Jag 10/1, Didn't stay up in trip when contesting a fast pace and finished fourth, beaten 3l, in a nursery at Wolverhampton last time; trainer in form; suited by 5f and acts on the all-weather; return to the minimum trip should help. Has shown ability but 0-5 and this exposed filly may again be vulnerable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (9/2 -13%)Gennadius |
9/2(-13%) | (1) Gennadius 9/2, Ran to form when second, beaten 1 1/4l, in a maiden at Catterick last time; returning from a break; drawn wide; effective from 6f to 8f and acts on soft and good to firm; consistent and should go well. 0-11; placed nine times; in the mix if at the top of his game after four months off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (13/2 +46%)Rawson |
13/2(+46%) | (6) Rawson 13/2, Showed good awareness and put in a fair effort when third, beaten 12l, in a maiden at Southwell on debut; made too much use of early; effective at 7f on the all-weather and should improve. Showed pace when third over 7f on debut and could be involved now dropped to 6f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (2) (14/1 +58%)Special Acclaim |
14/1(+58%) | (2) Special Acclaim 14/1, Stepped back from debut when beaten 10l in a novice at Wolverhampton last time; effective at 6f on the all-weather; may do better when switched to handicaps. Unable to threaten when fifth on both starts (including C&D); improvement is necessary. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (11) (80/1 -264%)Nautical Sky |
80/1(-264%) | (11) Nautical Sky 80/1, Twilight Son filly; half-sister to Harbour Beacon, a useful performer up to 11f; drawn wide and looks an unlikely winner on debut. Half-sister to six winners but pedigree hints this Twilight Son newcomer may want further. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Allegrino put a lacklustre debut effort behind her to finish an excellent second at Kempton and, with the prospect of more to come, she is entitled to go very close. However, there was lots to like about EVENEPOEL's introductory performance. Archie Watson's charge kept on well from an unpromising position and progress in anticipated, not least because a step up in trip should suit. Gennadius sets the standard with an official rating of 70 and is likely to be on the premises.

James Tate is in excellent form and saddles the debutante Preferred but this might go to EVENEPOEL now up in trip on his second run.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (10) (17/2 -42%)My Genghis |
17/2(-42%) | (10) My Genghis 17/2, Again below best beaten 3l in a handicap at Wolverhampton last time; effective 5f, acts on S, AW; step back up to 6f not certain to suit. Hinted at a revival when fifth on Tapeta last month; likely player for yard among winners. |

15/2(+32%) | (9) Mammy 15/2, Never competitive when beaten 9l in a handicap at Lingfield last time; effective at 5–7f on AW; needs to bounce back. Course winner but she comes here under a cloud; not easy to make a case for. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (8) (40/1 +0%)Magic Fluke |
40/1(+0%) | (8) Magic Fluke 40/1, Well below form, finishing down the field in a handicap here last time; off a short break; effective at 6/7f on AW; has been very poor for some time. It's now 20 starts since his sole success at Newcastle; others appeal more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (12) (4/1 +38%)World Of Darcy |
4/1(+38%) | (12) World Of Darcy 4/1, Step back in right direction when second beaten 2l in a handicap at Lingfield latest; suited by 6f, all best efforts with cut or on AW; chance if building on latest. Ended run of poor efforts with good Lingfield second 17 days ago; needs to back it up now. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

The vote goes to DUBAI MAGIC, who finished a narrow second at Wolverhampton recently. The daughter of Showcasing will have no issue with a switch in surface and she does have a handy draw to work with. Whilst a few of these have something to prove, she could belatedly break her maiden tag. Isla Bella and World Of Darcy both ran well last time out so must enter calculations, and spare a thought for the returning Lynwood Lad, who won a similar event at Brighton in June.

This looks a good opportunity for ISLA BELLA to build on the promise of her Wolverhampton third and gain a first win for Joey Ramsden

10/1(+29%) | (5) Sir Rodneyredblood 10/1, Too keen and a bit below form when beaten 5 1/2l in a handicap at Kempton last time. Effective at 5/6f and an inconsistent front-runner. 4lb below his last winning mark, but last few efforts not amongst his best; no headgear. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (9) (50/1 -100%)Daley T |
50/1(-100%) | (9) Daley T 50/1, Yard won this last year. Needed the run when beaten 5 1/2l in a handicap at Wolverhampton last time. Wide draw; effective at 5/6f and acts on AW; regressive since 2023. Well held on his return from a mammoth absence last month; now 0-16 and best watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (11/4 +8%)Analytical Engine |
11/4(+8%) | (4) Analytical Engine 11/4, Back to best when beaten a length off a 1lb lower mark at Kempton last time. Suited by 6f on a sound surface and likely to go well again. Second to a subsequent winner at Kempton last month; a repeat would give her every chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (9/2 +10%)Smasher |
9/2(+10%) | (2) Smasher 9/2, Too keen but ran to form when beaten 1 1/4l off a 1lb higher mark at Kempton last time. Effective at 6f and needs more. All five wins over 6f on the AW; well drawn and another big run seems likely. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (4/1 -33%)Dion Baker |
4/1(-33%) | (3) Dion Baker 4/1, Did plenty early and didn't get home, beaten 4l off a 1lb higher mark at Lingfield last time. Effective at 6/7f and acts on AW; a bounce back is needed. Front-runner who has become favourably treated, but is 0-28 on the AW; others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

10/3(+5%) | (1) Roman Emperor 10/3, Ran to form upped in trip beaten a neck off a 2lb lower mark at Lingfield last time; effective at 6/7f on sound surface; capable of going well dropped in trip. 0-27 in handicaps, but beaten a neck at Lingfield last time; shouldn't be far away again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (11/2 +45%)Port Hedland |
11/2(+45%) | (7) Port Hedland 11/2, Yard won this last year. Raced wide and again below form when beaten 4l in a handicap at Bath last time. Returning from a break; suited by an easy 5f, stays 6f, acts on AW but doesn't usually see races out. 6lb lower than when winning at Brighton last May, but with good reason; needs a revival. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

ROMAN EMPEROR bumped into an in-form rival at Lingfield and, given that he is probably more effective over 6f, compensation might await John Ryan's gelding. Analytical Engine finished second to a subsequent winner at Kempton latest so must be taken very seriously from 1lb higher and Smasher, who has proven himself to be effective on this surface, is another to keep onside.

The vote goes to ANALYTICAL ENGINE whose latest second of ten at Kempton was franked by the winner at Southwell on Sunday.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (25/1 -233%)Hedonista |

7/1(+30%) | (5) Bloodhound 7/1, Didn't seem to stay when well beaten in a handicap at Lingfield latest; effective over 10-12f and acts on all-weather; inconsistent but the drop in trip could help. Fourth over C&D in November was one of his better recent efforts, but he is now 0-21. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (15/8 +44%)Haliphon |
15/8(+44%) | (1) Haliphon 15/8, Below form beaten 9 1/2l in a handicap at Southwell last time; suited by 12-16f, acts on any; on fair mark in bouncing back. Has only once been placed in 15 starts on the AW; drop in class one ray of hope. |

Won over C&D in August and may have needed the run last month; player if bouncing back. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (10) (40/1 -21%)Nora Barnacle |
40/1(-21%) | (10) Nora Barnacle 40/1, Again ran to a poor level when tried in a hood and beaten 7l in a handicap at Wolverhampton last time; yet to show any worthwhile ability. Has hinted at a little ability; longer trip should suit on breeding. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (6) (8/1 -45%)Smokey Malone |
8/1(-45%) | (6) Smokey Malone 8/1, Lacked pace to challenge beaten 6l in a handicap here last time; effective 12-14f, acts on AW; just below last win mark. 1lb lower than when winning over 1m6f here last April; respected. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

ARENAS DEL TIEMPO won over C&D at the end of last August. Having weakened on her return at Lingfield last month, more can be expected of the Jim & Suzi Best-trained mare this time. Smokey Malone is another previous course winner that needs to be taken seriously in this company. Bloodhound and Damzon are less exposed than the selection and are notable each-way options.

It may be worth siding with SMOKEY MALONE who has dropped 1lb lower than when winning over slightly further here last spring.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (33/1 -106%)Fiorella Princess |
33/1(-106%) | (4) Fiorella Princess 33/1, Below form when dropped in trip and beaten 9l in a handicap at Southwell last time; effective at 5/6f on all-weather and still 6lb above last winning mark. In good form in the autumn but merely sixth on last two starts and needs to raise her game. |

Some good form at Southwell at the end of last year and he could be in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (7/1 +0%)Diamond Dreamer |
7/1(+0%) | (7) Diamond Dreamer 7/1, Found little up in trip beaten 7l in a handicap at Lingfield last time; effective at 5/6f, acts on GS, GF and AW; drop in trip a plus. Won off 1lb higher over C&D last March but not in the same form more recently. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (50/1 -257%)Lequinto |
50/1(-257%) | (1) Lequinto 50/1, No-show from off the pace when beaten 6l in a handicap at Goodwood last time; usually held up and returning from a break; effective over 5/6f and likes it fast; inconsistent recently. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (9/2 +25%)General Assembly |
9/2(+25%) | (3) General Assembly 9/2, Scored by 3 1/4l off an 8lb lower mark here in October; didn't see his race out when seventh last time, 1lb lower here; effective at 5/6f on all-weather; needs to bounce back. Won two in a row over C&D in the autumn and he's entitled to respect now back down in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (2/1 +40%)Speed Of Maajid |
2/1(+40%) | (6) Speed Of Maajid 2/1, Stable won this race last year; best work late when running to form beaten a length off this mark at Wolverhampton last time; suited by 5f on all-weather; more like it lately. One win from his 16 starts but runner-up in last three races and could be bang there. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (66/1 -676%)Neptune Legend |
66/1(-676%) | (8) Neptune Legend 66/1, Scored by a neck off a 2lb lower mark at Wolverhampton three starts back; ran to form when fifth last time off the same mark; effective 5-7f on all-weather; can go well again. Could give another good account but the drop back to 5f isn't an obvious plus. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Already a dual C&D winner, GENERAL ASSEMBLY is an attractive proposition running from just 1lb above his last winning mark. A draw in stall four looks ideal for the five-year-old, whose effectiveness at this venue is a highly persuasive factor. Slow starts have blighted Speed Of Maajid of late. However, he has a good cruising speed when he gets into a rhythm and is still capable of exploiting his current mark. Mumayaz and Lequinto complete the shortlist.

Last year's runner-up MERRIMACK (nap) ran well when third over 6f here last week and can break his AW duck now back down to 5f.

10/11(+52%) | (4) High On Hope 10/11, Ran to form beaten 3/4l off this mark at Wolverhampton last time; effective 7/8f, acts on GS, GF and AW; workable mark still. Poor strike-rate but arrives in good form and there's every chance he'll play leading role. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (5/2 -67%)Champagne Powder |
5/2(-67%) | (2) Champagne Powder 5/2, Too keen but showed good attitude to get off the mark when winning a novice here by a neck last time; effective at 7/8f and acts on all-weather; needs to settle but is better than rating if doing so. Off the mark in C&D novice last month and in calculations now back in a handicap. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (7/2 +13%)Plantadream |
7/2(+13%) | (1) Plantadream 7/2, Below form beaten 5l in a handicap at Kempton last time; suited by a 8f, acts on S, G and AW; poor strike-rate but good mark if bouncing back. 11yo who is winless since 2020 but showed spark at Kempton two starts ago; not written off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (25/1 -194%)Nordic Norm |
25/1(-194%) | (3) Nordic Norm 25/1, Bit keen but ran to form beaten 2l off this mark at Lingfield last time; suited by 8f, acts on AW and probably soft; needs more. Step back in right direction on recent stable debut and in the mix if backing that up. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (40/1 +20%)Under The Sun |
40/1(+20%) | (5) Under The Sun 40/1, Another poor run back on the Flat when well beaten in a handicap here last time; effective at 7/8f and acts on all-weather; currently in poor form under both codes. Mark continues to tumble and one to watch in the betting, but 2025 turned into a struggle. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Champagne Powder has to be respected after getting off the mark in a novice event over course and distance last month. That said, this is arguably more demanding and preference is for HIGH ON HOPE. The four-year-old was only narrowly denied when third over 7f at Wolverhampton last time and this step back up in trip should not be a problem for him. Plantadream edges out Nordic Norm to be best of the rest.

This could be a good opportunity for HIGH ON HOPE, who has been expensive to follow but has been running well.

6th (7) (25/1 +38%)Mond |
25/1(+38%) | (7) Mond 25/1, Too keen and failed to get home when fourth, beaten 17l, in a handicap at Southwell latest. Returning from a break; effective from 10f to 12f and acts on all-weather. Regressive type. Runner-up in Lingfield classified (1m2f, turf) in June but slim pickings since. |

7th (5) (80/1 -100%)Saint Terry |
80/1(-100%) | (5) Saint Terry 80/1, Showed little when held up and finished down the field in a handicap at Lingfield most recently. Lacks worthwhile form and is hard to fancy. Stable form is a positive and he's very lightly raced, but beaten a long way last time. |

8th (8) (40/1 +0%)Shades Of May |
40/1(+0%) | (8) Shades Of May 40/1, Showed little when held up and finished down the field in a handicap at Lingfield last time. Usually ridden patiently; effective at 6f to 7f and acts on all-weather. Out-of-form maiden. Claims are far from obvious but he's caught the eye staying on well in 7f races here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (9) (50/1 +0%)Mount Of Gold |
50/1(+0%) | (9) Mount Of Gold 50/1, Again ran to a poor level when finishing down the field in a handicap at Lingfield last time. Effective from 8f to 10f and acts on all-weather. Faces a tough task again. 21-race maiden who finished down the field on her two runs at Lingfield last month. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Most of these have questions to answer, but not SILKIES SIB. James Owen's gelding beat a subsequent winner when scoring at Wolverhampton on Boxing Day and he is hard to oppose off just a 2lb higher mark here. Beachborough Girl has been running well in defeat of late and is likely to be in the mix once again, while Pure Theory and Noss Mayo complete the shortlist.

A chance is taken on SHADES OF MAY, for whom the step up in trip and return to Chelmsford might prompt a first win.
Ths is the racecard key.
