(6) (3/1 +25%)Free Yourself |
3/1(+25%) | (6) Free Yourself 3/1, Fair effort on debut when beaten 4l in a maiden at Wolverhampton on debut; should stay at least 10f; ought to improve and can have a say in this. Slowly into stride and said to have run green on debut; should do much better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (9/1 -13%)Ghaiyyath Deer |
9/1(-13%) | (2) Ghaiyyath Deer 9/1, Probably improved from debut despite slow start when 8 1/4l third in a maiden at Lingfield most recent run; effective at 8f on AW; open to improvement back up in trip. Well off the front pair for his new yard a fortnight ago; likely there's better to come. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (40/1 -60%)Rumbustious |
40/1(-60%) | (5) Rumbustious 40/1, Probably too close to the pace but poor effort still when well beaten in a novice here latest; off a short-break; bred for 10-12f; bit to prove after latest disappointment and may do better once handicapping. Well held in two runs late last year; goes up in trip back from a break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (66/1 -65%)Joyful Lawyer |
66/1(-65%) | (3) Joyful Lawyer 66/1, Outpaced early off steady pace when well beaten in a novice at Wolverhampton latest; visor first time; off a short-break; sire middle-distance horse, dam 5-8f winner; type to do better when handicapping. Been gelded and sports first-time headgear, which will need to make a big difference. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

MONTEVETRO looks to have been found a nice opening on debut for the powerful Charlie Appleby yard and should go very close given his connections are known for their ability to ready one and have first-time-out winners. The other newcomer in the field Bay Of Myths is noted with Hollie Doyle booked, while of those with form it could be that Free Yourself takes a nice jump forward from her decent introduction at Wolverhampton.

Free Yourself looks the pick of those to have run, but all eyes will be on 800,000gns newcomer MONTEVETRO.

(1) (8/13 +0%)Beagle Bay |
8/13(+0%) | (1) Beagle Bay 8/13, Ran green but very promising debut when runner-up beaten a head in a maiden at Newbury only start; returning from long layoff; effective at 8f on good; improvement likely despite drop in trip and sets the clear standard here. Easy to back, shaped with a lot of promise on his Newbury debut last April; obvious chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(6) (3/1 +33%)Wield |
3/1(+33%) | (6) Wield 3/1, Poor debut effort when last of four, beaten 19l, in a novice at Salisbury first-time out; related to some smart types and is representing top connections, so is surely capable of better. Needed the experience badly last summer; this rather easier for a yard going well of late. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (80/1 +20%)Achalugo |
80/1(+20%) | (2) Achalugo 80/1, Moderate debut after a wind operation when well beaten in a maiden at Kempton only start; big filly, all to prove having already had a breathing procedure. 33-1, missed the break and finished well beaten on her 1m Kempton debut a few weeks ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (100/1 +50%)Serragasso |
100/1(+50%) | (5) Serragasso 100/1, Another poor effort when last of nine at Lingfield latest; yet to show any real signs of ability and all to prove for now. Massive prices for two Lingfield starts in the winter, finishing a remote last each time. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

The betting should be noted here for any market support for newcomers Different Opinions and Bumaan, both of whom represent shrewd yards. However, experience can win the day and BEAGLE BAY can give the three-year-olds weight and a beating if building on what was a really encouraging introduction in a Newbury maiden last year when he finished a head second and had the subsequent Balmoral winner Crown Of Oaks one place behind.

The market should speak loud, with BEAGLE BAY looking the one to beat on his return from a layoff. Wield should do much better.

(1) (2/1 -14%)Elements Of Fire |
2/1(-14%) | (1) Elements Of Fire 2/1, Run of race, ran to form when winning a novice at Lingfield by a length last time; effective at 7f on a sound surface; formerly with the Gosdens, plenty more to come now handicapping. Won well for new yard under a penalty in a Lingfield novice recently; open to improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(4) (2/1 +11%)Inspired |
2/1(+11%) | (4) Inspired 2/1, Ran to form when beaten 3 1/4l off this mark at Newcastle last time; effective 8f, acts on AW; more to come now handicapping and dropped in trip. All four starts over 1m at Newcastle; too soon to write him off but has a bit to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (5/2 +29%)Captain Parma |
5/2(+29%) | (5) Captain Parma 5/2, Bit keen tried in visor but ran to best landing a handicap by 2 1/4l off a 6lb lower mark here last time; trainer in form; effective 7f, acts on AW; in form, respected if headgear works as well a second time. Won well over C&D nine days ago (first-time visor); a 6lb rise has forced him up in class. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(6) (7/1 -17%)Grabajabba |
7/1(-17%) | (6) Grabajabba 7/1, Back to best dropped in trip and tried in a visor landing a handicap by a neck off a 2lb lower mark at Wolverhampton last time; effective 7/8f, acts on a sound surface; chance again after a small rise. Race run to suit in a first-time visor on Tapeta last week; a 2lb rise seems fair though. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (12/1 +14%)Epictetus |
12/1(+14%) | (3) Epictetus 12/1, Bit disappointing dropped in grade when 2 1/2l third in a seller here most recent run; suited by 8-10f, acts on any; bit more needed back in a handicap and dropped in trip. Held in small-field seller here nine days ago; first run at shy of 1m since his 2yo debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (25/1 +0%)Society Man |
25/1(+0%) | (2) Society Man 25/1, Below form tried in cheekpieces when down the field in a handicap at Newcastle most recent; effective 7/8f, suited by plenty of cut and AW; bounce back needed. Inconsistent for this yard; hard to recommend against some in-form, less-exposed rivals. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Inspired could only manage third at Newcastle last time but that form is really strong because the two who finished in front of him, Aisling Oscar and Francesi, have been in excellent nick all year. Karl Burke's charge cannot be overlooked, but ELEMENTS OF FIRE is slightly more appealing going handicapping for the first time on the back of a Lingfield novice win, when he kept his unbeaten all-weather record intact. Captain Parma is another to note.

Open to improvement for his new yard, ELEMENTS OF FIRE is fancied to make it 3-3 on Polytrack on tonight's handicap debut.

(5) (11/8 -25%)Spendmore Lane |
11/8(-25%) | (5) Spendmore Lane 11/8, Didn't hang around in front, improved again landing a handicap by 5l off a 5lb lower mark at Wolverhampton last time; trainer in form; effective 5/6f, acts on sound surface; penalised but strong chance of landing hat-trick. 5lb penalty wouldn't have stopped her Tuesday; this stronger but she's the one to beat. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (11/4 -22%)Thurso |
11/4(-22%) | (2) Thurso 11/4, Never in it from off the pace dropped in trip beaten 4l off a 2lb higher mark here last time; effective 6/7f, acts on a sound surface; easing in weights and capable of a good run. This is a bit easier for a yard among the winners, should the race be set up for him. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (7/2 +50%)Tyger Bay |
7/2(+50%) | (3) Tyger Bay 7/2, Too keen, below form beaten 5l in a handicap at Kempton last time; in good form prior; effective at 6f, suited by give and AW; bounce back needed. Ten-time AW winner; boasts a consistent C&D record but could be high enough in the weights. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (11/2 +61%)Ararat |
11/2(+61%) | (1) Ararat 11/2, Found little, below form beaten 4 1/2l in a handicap at Wolverhampton last time; visor first time; enjoys making it; effective 6/7f, acts on good to soft, good to firm and AW; below last winning mark but bounce back needed. Below par since two Southwell wins last autumn and the first-time visor will need to help. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(4) (8/1 -45%)Whenthedealinsdone |
8/1(-45%) | (4) Whenthedealinsdone 8/1, Bit below form beaten 4l off a 1lb higher mark at Kempton last time; off a short-break; effective 5/6f, acts on any; only just about last win mark but needs more than of late. Not as good now but remains consistent enough and unlikely to be far away. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

SPENDMORE LANE arrives here on the back of two impressive victories in recent weeks and a 5lb penalty for the latest of those wins at Wolverhampton may not be enough to stop her from making it a hat-trick. Tyger Bay could prove to be the main danger based on his narrow C&D defeat two starts ago, while Whenthedealinsdone is the pick of the remainder.

Impressive from the front at Wolverhampton on Tuesday, SPENDMORE LANE seems to have clicked now. Thurso is second choice.

(7) (7/4 +13%)Queensland Boy |
7/4(+13%) | (7) Queensland Boy 7/4, Ran to form back up in trip beaten a head off this mark at Wolverhampton last time; effective 12-17f, acts on good to firm and AW; below last win mark, fair chance. Back in form when arguably an unlucky loser at Wolverhampton on Tuesday; obvious claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (5/2 +17%)D Day Arvalenreeva |
5/2(+17%) | (2) D Day Arvalenreeva 5/2, Travelled back up in trip, ran to form beaten 3l off a 1lb higher mark at Kempton last time; effective 11-16f, best on sound surface; competitive mark if building on latest. Faring respectably in similar company of late; one to consider in a handicap lacking depth. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (7/2 +0%)Sea Of Charm |
7/2(+0%) | (3) Sea Of Charm 7/2, Travelled, ran to form back from a break landing a handicap by a nose off a 3lb lower mark at Lingfield last time; effective 10-12f on sound surface; can go well after a small rise and useful rider claims a handy 7lb. Obvious claims if as effective over this longer trip upped 3lb as she tries to make it 4-5. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (5/1 -11%)Mio Amico |
5/1(-11%) | (5) Mio Amico 5/1, Ran to form back up in trip when third beaten 6l off 62 last time, same mark here; effective 12-14f, acts on AW; generally consistent and can again go well. Looked to have no excuses off this mark over C&D last time; needs to find a bit more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(8) (8/1 +20%)Bloodhound |
8/1(+20%) | (8) Bloodhound 8/1, Didn't get home, below form when fourth beaten 8 1/4l in a handicap here latest; effective 10-14f, acts on heavy, good and AW; still a maiden and needs more. Didn't achieve much when fourth over C&D nine days ago; needs to improve a deal on that. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(4) (14/1 +30%)Upepo |
14/1(+30%) | (4) Upepo 14/1, Again below form off revised mark when 11th beaten 17l off 65 last time, 2lb lower here; effective between 12-16f, acts on soft, good and AW; bounce back needed. Wildly inconsistent gelding; will need to leave two poor efforts behind. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (40/1 -21%)Marhaba Million |
40/1(-21%) | (1) Marhaba Million 40/1, Pulled up in a handicap hurdle at Taunton latest; effective at 11/12f, suited by cut; regressive sort who is hard to fancy back on the Flat. Struggled in four runs over hurdles for his current yard; hard to make a case for. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(6) (40/1 +20%)Majestic Leo |
40/1(+20%) | (6) Majestic Leo 40/1, Never in it from off the pace after a wind op when down the field in a handicap at Lingfield most recent; effective 10-14f on Flat, acts on AW; plenty to prove for now. Tried in first-time blinkers on this second run since a wind op; little to recommend him. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Sea Of Charm made it three wins from her last four starts on her return at Lingfield three weeks ago, but a 3lb rise demands more from the eight-year-old here. With that in mind, the vote goes to QUEENSLAND BOY, who was only beaten a head into second off this mark at Wolverhampton earlier in the week. Mio Amico is another to arrive with strong form claims.

Strong traveller SEA OF CHARM has every chance of making if four wins from her last five starts if seeing it out over this easy 1m6f.

5/4(+64%) | (3) Buraback 5/4, Ran to form when beaten 1 1/2l off this mark here last time; best at 5f, effective at 6f, acts on AW; chance if building on latest. Good record over C&D and at this time of year; solid effort here latest; decent claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (5/2 -43%)Desdemona |
5/2(-43%) | (1) Desdemona 5/2, Won going away in a handicap by 2 1/2l off a 5lb lower mark at Lingfield last time; effective at 5/6f, acts on good to soft, good and AW; in form and strong chance of a follow up. 5lb rise demands more but she may well be up to the job in a handicap lacking depth. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(4) (5/1 -25%)Top Star |
5/1(-25%) | (4) Top Star 5/1, Ran to form when beaten 2l off a 1lb higher mark at Southwell last time; effective 5f, acts on AW; chance if building on latest. This mark within range; goes without the hood tonight; has been expensive to follow. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(6) (11/2 +66%)Master Zack |
11/2(+66%) | (6) Master Zack 11/2, Run best ignored, finished down the field in a handicap at Yarmouth most recent; returning from a break; effective at 5f, acts on soft, good to firm and AW; return to AW may suit. Sole victory came first time up last year after a similar break; lost his way later on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (10/1 -25%)Sir Rodneyredblood |
10/1(-25%) | (2) Sir Rodneyredblood 10/1, Found little, below form when eighth beaten 8 1/4l off 57 last time, 2lb lower here; effective 5/6f, acts on sound surface but best on AW; inconsistent sort but certainly capable. Nine-time course winner, including over 6f off a 2lb lower mark early in the year; capable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (14/1 -56%)Daley T |
14/1(-56%) | (5) Daley T 14/1, Bit below form beaten 2l in a classified race at Wolverhampton last time; effective at 5/6f, acts on good and AW; inconsistent and exposed maiden. Remains winless after 21 starts and has been running over 6f of late; each-way shout. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(7) (20/1 -11%)Hi Hoh Tonto |
20/1(-11%) | (7) Hi Hoh Tonto 20/1, Too keen, weakened quickly beaten 7 1/4l in a handicap at Wolverhampton last time; returning from long layoff; effective at 5f on a sound surface; hard to make a case for. Poor maiden for four yards who hasn't been seen in a year; worth a look in the market. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(8) (50/1 -127%)Battle Point |
50/1(-127%) | (8) Battle Point 50/1, Step back in right direction beaten 3l in a classified race at Wolverhampton last time; wide draw; suited by 5/6f and good or fast ground, acts on AW; remains on a long losing run. Almost three years since his sole win; Desdemona looks his yard's best chance. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

DESDEMONA hit the crossbar twice, including behind the bang in-form Beauzon, before going one better in emphatic fashion at Lingfield. A 5lb rise still leaves her well treated compared to the peak of her powers and she can strike again while the iron is hot. Buraback took a step back in the right direction when runner-up over C&D and that form was boosted when the winner followed up. Top Star was a solid second at Southwell, although that form doesn't appear quite as strong.

This can go to BURABACK (nap), who boasts a good record both over C&D and in March down the seasons. Desdemona is next best.

(4) (9/4 +25%)Antiquity |
9/4(+25%) | (4) Antiquity 9/4, Waiting ride worked well and ran to best form in landing a handicap by a length off a 4lb lower mark at Lingfield last time; effective 8/9f, acts on good and AW; can again go well off new mark. At his best this time last year; likes Lingfield and needs to find more off 4lb higher. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (11/4 -10%)Renesmee |
11/4(-10%) | (1) Renesmee 11/4, Bit keen but ran to form beaten 1/2l off this mark at Wolverhampton last time; effective 8-10f, acts on good to soft, good to firm and AW; can go well again off this mark. Solid effort in a race not run to suit last time; little room for manoeuvre off this mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(7) (3/1 -20%)Royal Jet |
3/1(-20%) | (7) Royal Jet 3/1, Ran to form when second beaten a length off 61 last time, 2lb higher here; effective 7/8f, acts on any; thriving of late, fair chance of regaining winning thread. Won four times during the winter; won't mind going back up in trip; decent chance again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (4/1 +11%)H Key Lails |
4/1(+11%) | (3) H Key Lails 4/1, Ran to form when 4 1/4l third in a handicap here most recent run; effective 7/8f, acts on a sound surface; respected again. On career-high mark but more likely than most to give his running, possibly from the front. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (9/1 +10%)Pivotal Days |
9/1(+10%) | (5) Pivotal Days 9/1, Below form, looked in need of a step up in trip beaten 6 1/4l in a handicap at Bath last time; effective 7/8f at 2yo, suited by plenty of cut; needs more than has shown this season. Picked up for 7,500gns; interesting to see how he goes in the market after six months off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (12/1 +25%)Nordic Norm |
12/1(+25%) | (2) Nordic Norm 12/1, Ran to form when beaten 4l off a 3lb higher mark at Lingfield last time; suited by 8f, acts on AW and probably soft; needs more to land first handicap. Finding his level now and it wouldn't shock were he to pop up here, dropped another 3lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(6) (33/1 +0%)Dalmally |
33/1(+0%) | (6) Dalmally 33/1, Below form in new headgear combo when well beaten in a handicap at Lingfield latest; effective 8-10f, acts on good to soft, good to firm and AW; headgear now removed. Poor debut for his new yard and the hood and tongue-tie both come off; hard to recommend. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Royal Jet's winning spree was brought to an end at Lingfield last week and although that second arguably matched the level of his previous performances, a further 2lb rise does demand more. ANTIQUITY has gone up 4lb after justifying favouritism at the same venue, but he appeared to have something in hand and is the one taken to defy the handicapper. H Key Lails has held his form well, while Renesmee burst back into life when just denied at Wolverhampton.

Antiquity arrives in form, but ROYAL JET's last two efforts have suggested this mark should be within range.
Ths is the racecard key.
