4th (4) (11/2 +0%)Egoiste |
11/2(+0%) | (4) Egoiste 11/2, Game when landing a handicap by a neck off 61 over 12f at Kempton last time; trainer in form; usually held up; return to 10f no issue; bang in the mix again C&D winner; scored at Kempton (1m4f) last month; 3lb rise fair and likely to go well again. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

BEAULD AS BRASS appeared to have plenty in hand when winning a similar event under this rider at Lingfield last week and the five-year-old merits the utmost respect, despite a 5lb penalty. This is a very competitive event and Meadram is another with strong form claims following his C&D success in March. Egoiste edges out Life On The Rocks to be the pick of the remainder.

Beauld As Brass is the obvious starting point after last week's easy Lingfield win but LIFE ON THE ROCKS is a viable alternative.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

KURAKKA confirmed the promise he displayed on debut at Kempton in November when finishing third at the same venue on his next outing. Alan King's colt should have more to offer as a three-year-old and he tops the shortlist. Respond cost 130,000gns as a yearling and should not be underestimated on his racecourse bow. Altareq wasn't disgraced in the Wood Ditton at Newmarket and is another to note.

Altareq can leave his debut behind him but DESERT SHADOW will find this easier than the warm Dubai races he tackled in January.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

FORGLEN arrives on the back of a close third over C&D a week ago and the four-year-old has to be of interest off the same mark here. Drouthy Neebor was running consistently well in defeat towards the end of last year and must be noted on his return to action, while Foinix should not be discounted based on his fourth at this venue in February.

This looks to be a formality for IT'S TIM after his second successive win at Brighton on Tuesday. Drouthy Neebor is second choice.

20/1(+9%) | (10) Spirit D'or 20/1, French raider, beaten 7l in a 3yo race over 7f at Chantilly last time on Polytrack; back down in trip a plus; won valuable sales race in Ireland in September; each way claims Won big-field sales race in Ireland last September; stretched by 7f on return; needs more. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

Dropping back to 6f looks just what the doctor ordered for ARABIAN DUSK, who failed to stay but ran with plenty of credit in the Nell Gwyn. Last year's Duchess Of Cambridge winner sets the standard and is preferred to Irish raider Lady With The Lamp, who impressed on her return in a Listed contest at Cork. Three from four as a two-year-old, Star Of Mehmas must be of interest on the rise in distance, and Running Queen isn't out of it either.

A classy renewal and two-time Listed winner LADY WITH THE LAMP is marginally preferred to Arabian Dusk.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

MONSIEUR BEAULIEU has held his form so well through the winter and into the spring, and looks to have been found a nice opportunity on the drop in grade. The booking of Jim Crowley catches the eye and Nick Littmoden's charge may have too much for Bishop's Crown, who didn't shape badly on his return at Kempton recently. A comfortable winner at Haydock on his comeback last year, Baba Reza must also enter calculations for his in-form yard.

A tight handicap in which the returning BABA REZA can enhance his fine Chelmsford record with his stable going along nicely.

33/1(-725%) | (2) Instant Bond 33/1, Weak in the market 3 1/4l third in a maiden over 5f at Newcastle most recent run in November; first time on Polytrack; back up in trip a plus; on decent mark on pick of maiden form Promise in uncompetitive AW maidens last autumn; betting to guide on handicap debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

A three-month break did the trick for Southwell scorer Noble Consort and he must enter the reckoning. However, a 6lb higher mark does demand a career-best performance and it could be worth taking a chance on the up-in-distance DARK SIDE PRINCE. The son of Equiano hasn't attempted 6f since July 2020, but his latest staying-on third here suggests that it's worth revisiting. Handicap debutant Instant Bond is also noted.

Bill Plumb may do better dropped in class but NOBLE CONSORT (nap) is on the up and can defy a 6lb rise for last month's easy win.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Having posted his best effort to date when a staying-on fourth over 6f here a week ago, MY BOY HARRY makes most appeal. The son of Massaat should relish the extra furlong and he's marginally preferred to Lady Shinto. An opening mark of 46 for Charlie Wallis' filly could prove on the lenient side and it will be interesting to see how she fares in the market. Aim For The Bull is pick of the remainder.

Low-grade fare and AIM FOR THE BULL may be able to register a first success. My Boy Harry is feared most.
Ths is the racecard key.
