The vote goes to TIME PATROL, who failed to justify favouritism when fifth at Lingfield last time, but he wasn't beaten far and that was a fair effort in the context of this race. Tony Carroll's five-year-old competes off a 1lb lower rating here and could regain the winning thread. Comedian Leader has room for manoeuvre off her current mark, while Shades Of May could feature now entering the handicap ranks.

TIME PATROL is a consistent performer at this sort of level and gets the vote from a handy draw with his stable continuing in rude health. Handicap-debutant Shades of May and Comedian Leader, equipped with a first-time visor, are others to consider.

One with some potential is handicap debutant SHADES OF MAY, who shaped quite well in a 5f Southwell maiden last month.

This Farh returned from a 137-day break with a good effort when hitting the crossbar over 7f at Lingfield last week and he holds an obvious chance. However, he could come out second best to SOLDIERS STAR, who finished a close-up third over 7f at Wolverhampton last month and shaped as if this drop back in trip would be a good move. If the son of Soldier's Call can reproduce the form of his debut second over this distance, then he may prove very hard to beat. Best Of All is the pick of the remainder.

SOLDIERS STAR sets the standard on his 2 placed efforts and is taken to get off the mark at the third time of asking. This Farh and Claim That Smile are considered the chief threats.

He was a beaten favourite over 7f last time but SOLDIERS STAR is readily given another chance to deliver on his debut promise.

CARLTON accounted for Lumberjack by just under a length when successfully completing a C&D double last time, retaining his unbeaten record since joining the James Owen yard. The five-year-old was worth a lot more than the winning margin suggests on that occasion and he has lots in his favour as he bids for a hat-trick off 2lb higher. Alex The Great finished a respectable third at Southwell on his most recent outing and should go well off an unchanged mark, while Black Smoke is another to note.

CARLTON has been resurgent upon joining the James Owen yard, landing back-to-back C&D handicaps last month, and he's expected to make a bold bid to bring up a quick-fire hat-trick. Black Smoke and Foinix are others to consider with Mamdoh another worth a look given he has fewer miles on the clock than most.

It's hard to get away from CARLTON (nap), who finished well to mow down a handful of today's rivals over C&D three weeks ago.

THE OUTLAW was heavily backed on his handicap debut over 7f at Southwell last week but showed signs of greenness when overhauled by a progressive filly inside the final furlong. However, the son of New Bay was clear of the rest on that occasion and looks worth persevering with, given tonight's additional furlong could draw further improvement. Khutulun, a 7f winner here on her penultimate start, looks the chief danger, although Majestic Heights is notable with cheekpieces added.

THE OUTLAW readily surpassed his efforts as a juvenile when runner-up on handicap debut at Southwell 6 days ago, edged out only late on by a thriving, battle-hardened rival. He's one to be interested in turned out quickly and earns the vote ahead of Specified who has shaped better than recent form figures would suggest. Khutulun, who was in good form when last seen, is another in the mix. Rumseg also commands a market check on his handicap debut.

The suggestion is KHUTULUN, who is proven here and may have further progress in her.

Running off 10lb below his last winning mark, TRIGGERED has a major chance of getting back on the right path here. A C&D winner off the same rating in May 2023, the Mark Loughnane-trained gelding returned from a break with a respectable fourth a Kempton last month and he can build on that here. Fellow track-and-trip winner Adace is consistent enough to rate a serious threat, while course specialist Rising Force is feared cutting back in trip.

TRIGGERED gave an indication that he may be ready to strike from a falling mark when fourth at Kempton last time and is preferred to the thriving Rising Force. Once Adaay is also more than capable at Class 6 level on AW if ready to roll on his first start since July.

Well-handicapped veteran TRIGGERED took a big step back in the right direction when fourth at Kempton three weeks ago.

Having finished a respectable sixth over a trip (7f) short of her best at Southwell five days ago, PLATINUM JUBILEE makes plenty of appeal reverting to a mile. The introduction of blinkers could also spark some improvement and a second career victory may beckon for the five-year-old. The biggest threat may emerge from the Hughie Morrison-trained Poles Apart, who should find this easier than his latest fifth in handicap company at Kempton, while Liege is also noted.

Former course scorer PLATINUM JUBILEE gets the nod in the hope that she reacts well to first-time blinkers. Poles Apart has it in him to run a big race at this level and is second choice ahead of Headshot, who won a similar race last March but has peak fitness to prove back from a break.

This weak race could provide a good opportunity for POLES APART, who posted some fairly good efforts over 7f last summer/autumn.

Solanna relished the step up in distance when landing the spoils over 1m3f at Kempton 22 days ago and he must enter calculations in his current mood. However, a return to 1m2f and a 5lb higher mark may leave John Butler's charge vulnerable and AUGUSTE LUMIERE edges the vote. The four-year-old is only 2lb higher than his neck second stable debut over this C&D last month and, with the third subsequently winning, he may be ahead of the handicapper. Boasty is also of interest in a reapplied visor.

AUGUSTE LUMIERE ran a cracker on his debut for new connections here last month and still looks on a workable mark. He can land the finale. Kempton-winner Solanna rates the chief threat.

Preference is for AUGUSTE LUMIERE, who ran a big race in defeat over C&D on last month's stable debut.
Ths is the racecard key.
