Alfred Cove and Howzak are taken seriously on the back of improved recent form but this could be an ideal opportunity for WEDGEWOOD to register a first win on turf. The four-year-old posted a respectable effort back on grass at Brighton last month and, with the likelihood of fast ground, the Tony Carroll-trained filly has a strong chance of exploiting a lenient mark in comparison to her all-weather rating. Jacquelina would also be a key player if turned out quickly after Friday's second at Thirsk.

JACQUELINA is absolutely thriving and has a significant class edge over her rivals, so is fancied to successfully concede plenty of weight and complete the 5-timer if taking up the engagement. Howzak may offer most resistance.

Last year's winner LOUIS TREIZE can reverse last week's C&D placings with Jacquelina, who ran well again yesterday.

VIOLET LOVE hasn't done much wrong so far and is taken to build on her two second-placed finishes to go one better. A potential pace angle, the selection could be too wily for the likes of Miami Memories and Glamorous Jewel, who are notable debutants given that they are both related to winning sprinters. Could She Be Magic appeals most from the remainder.

The in-form Ralph Beckett yard had a first-time-out 2-y-o winner on Wednesday and MIAMI MEMORIES could be another. There is no shortage of speed in her pedigree and she gets the nod ahead of Violet Love, who is the clear pick of those with experience following her near-misses at Southwell and Brighton. Jane Garfield is best of the rest.

Violet Love is clearly up to winning a maiden of this nature but the speedily-bred newcomer MIAMI MEMORIES is worth chancing.

All of these already have winning form and while the likes of Rosy Affair and Looby are open to progression on turf, WRESTLING REVENUE could be the way to go off just 4lb higher than last month's success over an extended 5f at Brighton. The selection wasn't disgraced when fifth in a similar race at Lingfield on his latest start and he may have more to offer.

ROSY AFFAIR is easily the least exposed and should have more to offer now switched to turf so could be hard to beat. Wrestling Revenue may prove to be the danger.

A chance is taken on LOOBY who was nicely progressive until failing to give her running on final appearance of last year.

KING OF WAR ended last season with a victory over track and trip, and finished a creditable second at Brighton on his reappearance. That was his first start for Michael Wigham's yard and another bold bid is expected. Hat Toss was third at Leicester earlier in the week and has a chance with his rider's 5lb allowance helping his cause, while Flying Secret could go well with cheekpieces applied for the first time.

KING OF WAR has a good record here and made a bright start for his new yard at Brighton recently so gets the vote. Hat Toss, Flying Secret and Eagle Day are dangers.

King Of War is right in the reckoning but ABLE KANE (nap) also catches the eye on his C&D form in a better race last summer.

Diamondsinthesand represents last year's winning trainer, although he has yet to win on turf in 15 attempts, and BAMA LAMA is preferred. The latter has returned to a winning mark, and recent placed efforts suggest she's ready to get her head back in front. Both Lupset Flossy Pop and Port Noir finished behind the selection at Bath last time, so Sisters In The Sky may prove a bigger danger.

This looks ripe for DIAMONDSINTHESAND, who posted his best effort of the season so far when runner-up over 7f here last month and is very appealing back at 6f off the same mark. Sisters In The Sky is next on the list ahead of Bama Lama.

This looks open but there could be a big run in THE COLA KID who was tilting at windmills last time.

It's been a long time since BHUBEZI last won, but last month's neck defeat at Brighton suggests his turn is not far away. Patrick Chamings' charge finished well ahead of Kenstone at Brighton, and the latter won this contest last year off a 4lb higher mark, while Letter Of The Law has also slipped down the handicap and may prove best of the remainder.

BHUBEZI put in good late work when going close at Brighton recently and, on that evidence, his turn is near. The 6-y-o is taken to confirm that impression by striking here, perhaps at the chief expense of Eye of The Water. Letter of The Law is also shortlisted.

The selection is FACT OR FABLE who has dropped 3lb lower than for the last of three wins over 7f here last year (has won over 1m).

DUCHESS accounted for her nearest rivals by three lengths on her return to action at Yarmouth last month and Gina Mangan's claim negates half of her 6lb rise for that triumph. John Berry's mare looks to have lots in her favour and could go in again. The main danger might be Thewaytothestars, who only managed eighth over 7f here last time but has to be considered back up in trip. Of the remainder, Mayz makes the most appeal.

The one with by far the most appealing claims is DUCHESS, who produced her best effort on this side of the Channel when scoring in good style at Yarmouth and a 6 lb rise is unlikely to be enough to prevent her from going in again. Romanovich and Kalama Sunrise can fill the places, in that order of preference.

Preference is for KALAMA SUNRISE who has placed form and probably resented the heavy ground last time when prominent in the betting

MARMALADE LADY put her first three underwhelming efforts in novice company last year behind her when hitting the frame over 1m4f on her handicap debut at Lingfield last month. Hughie Morrison's filly remains on the same mark and she looks the one to beat. Tomorrow Day finished fifth over a mile at Bath last time and he takes a big step up in trip in first-time cheekpieces, so he is one to watch out for, while Exceptionality is another to note.

In a contest where compelling claims are decidedly thin on the ground, MARMALADE LADY rather stands out on the back of a solid opening effort in handicap company on AW last month. Although Top Flight Century was well beaten on his recent handicap debut it's too soon to write off Sir Mark Prescott's charge and he might fare a lot better now going up in trip.

Hughie Morrison's MARMALADE LADY is the only runner arriving here on the back of a positive performance.
Ths is the racecard key.
