255,000-pound point recruit Belliano must enter calculations now under the tutelage of Paul Nicholls on his hurdles bow. The five-year-old was a taking winner on his sole outing between the flags in Ireland and he is likely to be at the forefront of the betting. However, THE NEW LION looked one to keep the right side of after scoring on his bumper debut at Market Rasen in ready fashion last season and he shades the verdict. D'jo Dela Barriere looks best of the remainder.

THE NEW LION impressed when coming readily clear in a modestly-run bumper on his Market Rasen debut in April and is sure to have been well prepared ahead of this switch to hurdling, so he makes plenty of appeal representing an in-form yard. Belliano is a fascinating Rules debutant having been bought for big money following an Irish point success and strong market support for him would put a slightly different slant on matters. Kayf Dancer is another to consider.

Dan Skelton's THE NEW LION created a seriously good impression on his bumper debut in the spring and is given the vote.

Although JUVENTUS DE BRION didn't make it far when falling at the first hurdle in the Persian War over C&D earlier this month, he rates as the one to beat in these calmer waters. Dan Skelton's gelding boasts an official rating of 120 and a reproduction of his Ascot third in February may prove sufficient. Quebecois was flying too high on his 16th-placed defeat in the Champion Bumper at Cheltenham last season, but the five-year-old is feared most on his hurdles debut, ahead of Murphy's Milan

QUEBECOIS was possibly amiss when weakening quickly in the Champion Bumper at Cheltenham when last seen and remains a good prospect for jumping judged on his impressive debut success at Exeter. He's narrowly preferred to Juventus de Brion, who has already shown fairly useful form over hurdles and is sure to be opening his account before long.

Quebecois impressed on his bumper debut at Exeter but JUVENTUS DE BRION sets a fairly useful standard of hurdling form.

The hat-trick seeking Come On Nia warrants respect off just 4lb higher than her latest victory at Stratford and a 133-day break shouldn't prove a barrier to success. However, VENTARA was unlucky when bumping into a handicap blot in last year's edition of this contest and compensation may beckon off an unchanged mark. Loverdose justified strong support in the market when making a winning handicap bow at Exeter in March and likely has more to come this season as well.

LOVERDOSE landed a punt on handicap debut fitted with cheekpieces at Exeter in the spring and from this low base, it would come as no surprise were he to pick up where he left off. Pillar Rock surely has more to come given the yard he represents so he's second choice, ahead of Come On Nia.

Second to a big improver off this mark in this race on his handicap debut a year ago, VENTARA might be the answer.

Kim Bailey has started the new campaign in fine form and MAGICAL ESCAPE, a solid second on his chasing debut at Exeter earlier this month, may well continue that trend. King Turgeon was in the lead when being brought down over an extended 2m7f here in April and is of interest with Harry Cobden in the saddle here, while Leissieres Express, who will not lack for stamina having won over an extended 3m6f at this venue when last seen in March, is another to consider.

Lots with chances but Dan Skelton's lightly-raced MUMFORD'S MAGIC is taken to build on his promising Stratford debut chasing second and get off the mark. Kim Bailey's Exeter runner-up Magical Escape also has better days ahead of him and is feared most, although a solid case can be made for King Turgeon, Iberio and Betterforeveryone too in this cracking handicap chase.

Low-mileage 6yos MAGICAL ESCAPE and Mumford's Magic both ran well on their recent chasing debuts and may fight this out.

10-year-old DO YOUR JOB faced a few stiff assignments last season, most recently in a warm premier handicap at Cheltenham in April. However, the son of Fame And Glory landed a similar contest from 3lb higher at Wetherby on Boxing Day and, given he has gone well when fresh previously, might be worth chancing today. Opening Bid justified favouritism at Exeter and is certain to have a fitness edge on some of these. Others to note include Can You Call and Nocte Volatus.

Plenty to consider but it could be worth chancing expensive point-winner THEFORMISMIGHTY, whose yard won this last year with a chasing debutant. Can You Call pulled clear of the rest when second in this 12 months ago and can go well again, while Hititi is potentially well handicapped back in this sphere given his exploits over hurdles.

Top of this list is CAN YOU CALL, who ran a big race in defeat in this contest on last season's reappearance outing.

Wot You Wearing appeared to idle when hitting the front before the last when runner-up over an extended 3m1f at Hereford recently and another prominent role is forecast. A return to today's elongated 2m3f trip shouldn't inconvenience the dual C&D winner, but a 3lb higher rating will demand a career-best performance. With that in mind, it could be worth taking a punt on the lightly-raced SIAM PARK, who may have benefited from wind surgery. Manowest and Solar System are others to consider.

The one who appeals most is WOT YOU WEARING, who is 2-2 over this C&D and he pulled well clear of the rest when going down narrowly to an in-form, race-fit rival on his recent seasonal reappearance at Hereford. Siam Park ended last season on a downer but he has low mileage and remains of interest. Solar System is also shortlisted, along with handicap-debutant Manowest.

There is more to come from SOLAR SYSTEM (nap), who won in good style at Fontwell two starts ago and had excuses last time.

The market is sure to prove informative with some interesting newcomers on show and a tentative vote goes to C'EST DIFFERENT. Sam Thomas' inmate shouldn't be found lacking for speed judged by his half-brother Avrilomanoir, who was a decent performer over sprint distances on the Flat in France. Fellow debutants The Final Word and A Pai De Nom are other intriguing players on paper, while point-to-point winners Sober Glory and Allstitchedup add further spice to a tricky finale.

Lots of depth to this bumper given the yards involved. A PAI DE NOM is related to a useful winner for the Skelton team and before market clues, is offered on debut. Sober Glory and The Final Word fetched plenty after point wins and are just a couple of potential dangers.

Paul Nicholls has won this race with some smart horses in recent years and his new recruit, THE FINAL WORD, appeals most today.
Ths is the racecard key.
