DEMOCRACY DILEMMA was not disgraced in a Listed race on dirt at Jebel Ali in February and that followed an encouraging third in a competitive handicap at Meydan. The four-year-old was successful over C&D when last competing in the UK and he looks to have plenty in his favour from stall two here. Copper Knight has dropped to an eyecatching mark and the veteran should not be written off, while Clearpoint and Roman Dragon are two others to note.

An ultra-competitive sprint in which the suggestion is top-weight DEMOCRACY DILEMMA, who won over C&D when last seen on home soil and performed with plenty of credit on both starts in the UAE earlier this year. Michaela's Boy showed his usual spark before tiring at Musselburgh last month, so he heads up the opposition sporting a first-time tongue tie, with Manila Scouse and Radio Goo Goo another couple fancied to go well, too.

Veteran Copper Knight is feared off his lowly mark but VINTAGE CLARETS should be at his peak now and can gain his second C&D win.

PASSING PHASE caught the eye when filling third place on his racecourse bow over 5f at the Curragh last month and the son of Lope De Vega could be hard to beat with the benefit of that experience. Rashabar and Bretton Wood also showed plenty of promise on their introductions in races that have both worked out very well, while any market support for The Flying Seagull would have to be noted.

RASHABAR showed plenty when third in what is traditionally a strong maiden at Newbury 3 weeks ago and can overcome his wide stall. The well-bred Bretton Wood should step up on his debut, while Passing Phase and Teej A showed something to work in first-time up.

Well-drawn fillies TEEJ A and Far Above Mary head the shortlist. Rashabar and Passing Phase are respected on form.

NEVER SO BRAVE chased home a pair of subsequent Group 1 winners on his two starts as a juvenile and confirmed that promise when winning easily on his return over 7f at Thirsk last month. With that in mind, the son of No Nay Never merits the utmost respect on his handicap debut here. Dashing Darcey has to be of interest following his narrow defeat at Newbury recently, while Grey Cuban also merits a place on the shortlist.

CELTIC WARRIOR is handily berthed in stall 2 and might prove the answer to this useful 3-y-o handicap. Never So Brave bumped into subsequent Group 1 winners on both starts last year and won easily on his Thirsk return so he appeals as likely to make his mark in some good handicaps for the Sir Michael Stoute yard and is second choice ahead of Grey Cuban.

The Sir Michael Stoute-trained NEVER SO BRAVE (nap) has impressive form and is one to follow. Grey Cuban is second choice.

GOD'S WINDOW reached the frame in the Group 1 Futurity at Doncaster before making it two wins out of three starts in a minor novice event on his reappearance at Nottingham. John & Thady Gosden's Dubawi colt should relish this step up in trip and, with further improvement highly likely, he is the one to beat. Jayarebe was a smooth winner of the Feilden at Newmarket and has to be taken very seriously, despite his penalty, while Bracken's Laugh is a player after numbering Capulet among his victims at Chelmsford.

GOD'S WINDOW quickly reached a useful level in 2 starts as a juvenile (stayed on for third in 1m Group 1) and having blown the cobwebs away in calmer waters on return at Nottingham, the son of Dubawi looks every inch the type to take his form up another notch now his stamina is tested further. Jayarebe created a good impression when scoring at Newmarket latest and he can do better still, with Capulet another likely to benefit from this increase in trip.

Having made such an impression with wins last month, JAYAREBE and Bracken's Laugh top the list from Futurity 3rd God's Window.

Last year's Chester Vase hero ARREST comes into this contest on the back of an underwhelming return to action when only seventh in the John Porter at Newbury. That run was arguably too bad to be true and he is a class act on his day, so he is well worth another chance. Point Lonsdale, who landed the Huxley Stakes at this meeting 12 months ago, is the top-rated in the field and has his first attempt at the distance, while Deauville Legend tries first-time blinkers and is another to note.

A winner at this meeting last year, POINT LONSDALE has been running to a similar level of form in Group 1 races since, setting the pace when finishing mid-field in the Dubai Sheema Classic on his latest outing, so he is taken to resume winning ways as he goes up in trip. Arrest was also successful here 12 months ago and is feared most, ahead of Deauville Legend.

Last year's Chester Vase and Huxley Stakes winners are set for an interesting clash. ARREST gets the vote over Point Lonsdale.

Lingfield scorer Inspiritus appreciated the removal of the hood when posting a career-best performance in late March. Roger Varian's gelding warrants respect off a 5lb higher mark and this switch to turf shouldn't prevent another bold bid. However, fellow last-time-out scorer PEARL EYE may prove to be the better handicapped of the pair after winning a shade cosily at Pontefract and the four-year-old could be tough to beat if coping with the quick turnaround. Loyal Touch and Baryshnikov also enter the reckoning.

INSPIRITUS is the most progressive in this field and should get a reasonable position from stall 6, so he gets the nod over fellow last-time-out winner Pearl Eye. Al Rufaa's latest effort is best excused and he's expected to get back on track.

The style in which INSPIRITUS landed a big-field AW handicap at Lingfield suggests that a 5lb rise won't stop him if as good on turf.

CONTACTO proved a different proposition on his handicap bow when scooting away from his rivals at Doncaster. A 9lb hike in the ratings for that easy victory looks far from insurmountable and Andrew Balding's colt is taken to follow up. The biggest threat may emerge from the progressive Arch Legend, who isn't taken lightly in his quest to land a hat-trick, especially considering he is 4lb well-in. Glistening Nights is a potential improver upped further in distance.

Several upwardly mobile types on show here with ARCH LEGEND the most appealing of them. He represents a yard with a solid record in this race in recent years and, officially 4 lb ahead of the handicapper under a penalty, he is taken to complete the hat-trick following his thoroughly decisive all-the-way success at Wolverhampton last week. Fouroneohfever opened his account at the same course on his latest start and is just about second choice ahead of another last-time-out winner in Contacto.

Fouroneohfever is respected after his recent win but ARCH LEGEND can register his third win in three weeks.
Ths is the racecard key.
