The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Warrior Lion made the frame over 1m2f at Doncaster last month and takes a step back up in trip, which looks a good move and he has to be respected. However, KARTHON improved in first-time cheekpieces to hit the woodwork at Southwell most recently and could take advantage of an unchanged rating. Previous C&D winner Haliphon is another to keep an eye on.

The vote goes to the unexposed 3yo KARTHON (nap), who finished a clear second when upped to 1m4f at Southwell last time.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

ORATORICAL outran odds of 50/1 when filling the runner-up spot on debut at Chepstow earlier in the month and is likely to have lots more to offer. David Loughnane's youngster has the plum draw in stall one and could prove hard to beat. Berkshire Boom failed to land a blow on his introduction at Salisbury, but it would be no surprise to see him take a step forward with the benefit of that experience. Suspended Sentence is another to note.

There isn't a standout candidate here and a chance is taken on PORT DARWIN who could improve significantly on his debut form.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Style Of Life occupied the runner-up berth when bidding for a hat-trick at Pontefract last time and warrants plenty of respect. Eligible finished a close third at this venue earlier in the month and is noted, but ALBESEEINGYER looks the way to go. The six-year-old finished a respectable fourth at Doncaster last month and was dropped 1lb subsequently. She could get the run of the race and may record her seventh victory.

The vote goes to the progressive mare VIXEY who has won three of her last six, including a comfortable success over C&D last time.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

SHOWERING will have gone into a few notebooks after running into trouble when fourth over the minimum trip at Southwell a couple of weeks ago. He won a novice race over this trip in May and the son of Showcasing gets another chance. Far Above The Law has to be of interest off the back of a creditable second at York, while Arabian Cobra arrives in fine fettle.

Showering is solid but the vote goes to BRIGHTON BOY, well held at Royal Ascot but interesting on the pick of his 2yo form.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Secret Mistral made all at Haydock a week ago and could go well again, despite a 4lb rise. She'll likely be taken on for the lead here by the recent Newmarket fourth Night On Earth, and that scenario could play into the hands of BANG ON THE BELL. John Jenkins' sprinter went close over C&D a fortnight ago, despite having to be switched for a clear run, and another bold bid is anticipated.

The in-form SECRET MISTRAL is taken to go one better than in this race last year. Knicks may be the one to chase her home.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

MAHARAJAS EXPRESS can be marked up for his recent success over C&D, given he was drawn wide. Ian Williams' charge hasn't had much luck with the draw once again, but looks worth sticking with in his current frame of mind and can confirm that form with third-placed Acrisius. The latter should prove competitive once again, while the speedy Over Spiced is drawn on the rail and cannot be ruled out with any confidence either.

This can go to MAHARAJAS EXPRESS, who has barely put a foot wrong all season and was successful from a wide draw over C&D last time.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (15/2 -67%)Brave Nation |
15/2(-67%) | (3) Brave Nation 15/2, Eased a couple of lengths once held and ran close to form fourth beaten 5l in a handicap at Doncaster latest; in the mix Started this season with three good efforts and had excuse last time; dangerous. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (11/4 +31%)Duran |
11/4(+31%) | (2) Duran 11/4, Scored by 1/2l off 83 at Haydock three starts back; below par last time; suited by 5f, acts on any except perhaps soft; bit below form since going up the weights Well held last twice but this is a big drop back in grade and he's not ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (9/1 +10%)Balon D'or |
9/1(+10%) | (9) Balon D'or 9/1, Below par up in trip beaten 8l in a handicap over 6f here last time; wide draw; effective 5/6f, acts on any, but likes give; in and out of form at present Well below form in four runs this season and looks opposable from wide draw. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (17/2 -42%)Master Of My Fate |
17/2(-42%) | (1) Master Of My Fate 17/2, Game when scored by 1 1/4l off 82 at Lingfield three starts back; probably raced too freely last time; trainer in form; suited by 5f and sound surface; fair mark, but can boil over Won at Lingfield but vulnerable last twice and needs to find more to defy this mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (33/1 -65%)Ecclesiastical |
33/1(-65%) | (8) Ecclesiastical 33/1, Below par switched to turf beaten 5l in a handicap at Chepstow last time; off a short-break; suited by 5f, acts on any; out of form last two starts Won at Lingfield in March but he's been well held in both runs since; down the list. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (10) (22/1 +0%)Montpellier Green |
22/1(+0%) | (10) Montpellier Green 22/1, Poor effort down the field in a handicap over 7f at Doncaster most recent run; suited by 7/8f, probably acts on any; out of form since winter break Won at the Curragh last autumn but he's not gone on from that and is now 1-9. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

KODIAC THRILLER has held his form well since he won in this grade at Thirsk four starts ago and reverts to this level with a big chance of gaining further success. Brave Nation is also a key player based on his consistent profile this season, while Duran is another solid option to consider.

This looks tricky but it might be worth siding with BRAVE NATION, who could be a big factor if this sets up for his closing style.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (13/2 -63%)Ey Up Its The Boss |
13/2(-63%) | (1) Ey Up Its The Boss 13/2, Well backed when landing a handicap by 3 1/4l off 82 at Ripon last time; enjoys making it; suited by 10f, acts on any; mark is a bit stiff, bit one to consider Another win at Ripon last week; essentially 1lb higher and third on sole previous run here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (4/1 +20%)Let's Dream |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (8/1 -33%)Narmar |
8/1(-33%) | (5) Narmar 8/1, Scored by 1/2l off 74 over 8f at Ffos Las penultimate start; third beaten 1/2l off 77 last time; trip is a question mark, but consistent and could go well In form and has been strong through the line over 1m; this far worth another go. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (11/2 +27%)Asteverdi |
11/2(+27%) | (4) Asteverdi 11/2, Yard won this last year; ran to form beaten 2l off 83 over 8f at Ayr last time; up in trip and seems ideally suited by some give in the ground; consistent though and contender Encouraging third on recent stable debut but softer ground would be preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (33/1 -230%)Finn Russell |
33/1(-230%) | (9) Finn Russell 33/1, Scored by 3/4l off 68 at Windsor penultimate start; keen and bled last time put over hurdles; multiple flat winner, not out of very tight race Windsor winner in May but bled from the nose when tailed off last time over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (18/1 +10%)Flickering Halo |
18/1(+10%) | (8) Flickering Halo 18/1, Scored by a neck off 74 at Newcastle three starts back; below that form twice since switched to turf; bit to prove now on grass Both wins over 1m2f but will need to fare better than the last twice, at 1m4f and 1m2f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (15/2 -25%)Giselles Defence |
15/2(-25%) | (7) Giselles Defence 15/2, Well backed when landing a handicap by a nose off 71 at Epsom last time; suited by 10f, acts on any; on a fair mark and should go well again Made all at Epsom; well drawn to adopt similar tactics and he has form here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (2) (16/1 -14%)Due To Henry |
16/1(-14%) | (2) Due To Henry 16/1, Well backed when last of 8 Bat Sandown last time; cheekpieces first time; trainer in form and well handicapped at best, but plenty to prove Dual 1m2f winner on soft; cheekpieces reached for after quiet start to this season. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

With a plum draw in stall one, GISELLES DEFENCE, who has gone well here in the past, is the first one on the shortlist. Having made all at Epsom last week, a 3lb higher mark looks very manageable and may not be enough to stop him from following up. Fellow last-time winners Ey Up Its The Boss and Finn Russell also warrant close inspection, while Meblesh completes the shortlist.

Plenty have chances but if the new headgear can trigger a revival from DUE TO HENRY then he too has a lot going for him.
Ths is the racecard key.
