(9) Queensbury Boy 4/9, £130,000 purchase after winning an Irish point. Confirmed himself a good prospect when winning a bumper at Chepstow (2m, heavy) in December 2023 and took a significant step forward when runner-up at Punchestown last May. Makes return and looks as a good-quality recruit to hurdling.

13:30 Doncaster Maiden Hurdle (Class 3) 19f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

QUEENSBURY BOY, who was second to the progressive Wingmen in a Punchestown bumper when last seen, is hard to overlook on his hurdles bow. With the form of that aforementioned race working out well, this could provide the son of Doyen with an ideal stepping stone to bigger prizes. The betting market should be informative with most of the others having plenty to prove. However, Bold Reaction and Icare Colombe have at least shown enough to suggest they can make this a reasonable test for the selection.

Plenty of dead wood in this opening maiden and it could be best left to QUEENSBURY BOY, who confirmed himself an above-average prospect when finishing runner-up in a Punchestown bumper 10 months ago and rates as a good-quality recruit to hurdling for a yard really clicking into gear. Bold Reaction heads up the dangers after his third over C&D 5 weeks ago, with Icare Colombe and Doctor Kildare taken to fight out third.

The rest will be seriously up against it judged on what QUEENSBURY BOY showed in his Irish point and two bumpers.

14:05 Doncaster Maiden Hurdle (Class 1) 24f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

WORLD OF FORTUNES won at this level at Limerick back in October and, highly tried in deeper races since, this looks well within her reach with the step back up in distance not expected to cause any significant issues. Dameofthecotswolds is feared most, despite the official ratings suggesting she will need to up the ante on her first attempt over this trip. Miss Cynthia has adapted well to hurdles and should also go well if her stamina holds out. Carrig Kate completes the shortlist.

WORLD OF FORTUNES has had her limitations exposed somewhat in graded company the last twice, but this rates a far more suitable assignment and she's taken to regain the winning thread. Dameofthecotswolds is another big player on form, for all that she remains unproven at the trip, with Miss Cynthia also of interest stepping up in distance/grade.

There could be holes in two standout form contenders so a chance is taken on likely improver BOBBI WITH AN I.

14:40 Doncaster Handicap Chase (Class 2) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

Petit Tonnerre ended a spell in the doldrums with a game win over C&D in January and needs serious thought off just 5lb higher. However, he can also be frustrating to follow and with that in mind, a chance is taken on last year's winner, HOMME PUBLIC, staging a repeat running off the same mark. This venue brings the best out of the son of Cokoriko, who notably swaps cheekpieces for blinkers and may improve for the switch. Gabriel's Getaway and Rare Edition are other serious contenders.

This has a wide-open feel but BROOKIE could be worth chancing. He's yet to build on his chase debut win at Sandown but he was flying too high last time and the form of his previous run at Newbury has worked out very well. Petit Tonnerre remains potentially well treated if backing up his C&D win, while Rare Edition is worth another chance after initially making a bright start over fences.

The well-handicapped C&D winner PETITE TONNERRE will be ridden cold from off the pace and this should again be run to suit him.

15:15 Doncaster Handicap Chase (Class 2) 26f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

SOME SCOPE finished an excellent second in this contest last year and he gets the vote to go one place better off 2lb higher this time. Richard Hobson's seven-year-old scored with more in hand than the winning margin suggests over 3m at Wetherby in December, before being pulled up over an inadequate 2m4f at Cheltenham last time out. Stepping back up in trip off 3lb higher than his last winning mark, a bold bid is on the cards. Hymac finished a gallant second behind a useful sort over this trip at Newbury when last seen and he commands respect off an unchanged mark, while recent course winner Weveallbeencaught completes the shortlist.

This is TWIG's time of year (five of his seven wins under Rules have been gained between March and July) and he is of strong interest returned to this sphere following a few spins over hurdles. Indeed, a reproduction of his fine second in the Ultima at last season's Cheltenham Festival would give him every chance. White Rhino's best days are probably still ahead of him and he is next on the list ahead of Weveallbeencaught and Hymac.

Twiston-Davies pair THE KNIPHAND (nap) and Weveallbeencaught top the list ahead of Some Scope and White Rhino.

Hasn't threatened from higher marks since but did take a step back in the right direction when fourth at Fakenham last month. Worth a go at 3 miles on decent ground and better placed than some if this becomes a relative test of speed.

15:55 Doncaster Handicap Hurdle (Class 2) 24f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

This step up to 3m could be the making of PATRIOTIK. Evan Williams' charge caught the eye when finishing a staying-on second over 2m4f at Aintree on his penultimate start, and with excuses for his recent low-key effort in a hot Ascot handicap, he gets the vote to bounce back to winning ways off 1lb lower. Cloud Dancer was last seen finishing a running-on fourth over an extended 3m at Wincanton and he warrants respect off an unchanged mark. Kamsinas doubtless has the ability to play a hand in a race of this nature but he will need to bounce back from a sub-par effort.

Having been well backed when shaping as if returning to form at Fakenham last time, PRETENDING could have a tactical edge being the only runner to have made the running in recent starts and she may be able to capitalise if this becomes a relative test of speed on drying ground. Patriotik has some notable form in the book this season, and he'll be suited by a return to 3 miles, while Ike Sport is gradually coming back down the handicap and can be more competitive if back on song.

Cloud Dancer has the proven stamina which PATRIOTIK and Kamsinas can't boast but could bring potential and are just preferred.

16:31 Doncaster Handicap Hurdle (Class 5) 17f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

BY THE GRACE finished nine lengths clear of the third when hitting the crossbar at Hereford in December and was given a 6lb rise for that effort. Nicky Henderson's mare could have more to offer on only her fourth handicap start and she looks the one to beat. Cuban Court struck over C&D before making the frame over an extended 2m3f here last time and he might appreciate this drop back in trip, while Walden warrants a market check on his handicap debut.

A fair maiden on the Flat, ST JUST IN TIME showed ability in a handful of maiden hurdles during the first half of last year. He's joined a yard that does well with new recruits and could be worth chancing before market clues on handicap debut/following 8 months off. Unleash The Beast is another likely improver now handicapping, with Muzaffar and By The Grace others to consider. 4-y-o Fine Point is another worth a second look.

By The Grace should be right in the thick of it but ST JUST IN TIME makes more appeal on his handicap debut for a new yard.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

NORN IRON ran a career-best when filling the runner-up spot at Newbury last time and he has been put up 7lb for that display. With the likelihood of more to come on only his second handicap start, he could be the one to beat. Kingston James finished second when sporting a first-time hood at Wetherby in December and is an interesting contender on his handicap bow. Of the remainder, Cavern Club makes the most appeal.

NORN IRON took another step forward when runner-up to a next-time-out winner on last month's handicap debut at Newbury and on that evidence, his mark is an attractive one. There is depth to this contest, though, with Kingston James and My Noble Lord also of serious interest.

This is competitive. The 4yo MY NOBLE LORD appeared to perform below expectations on his handicap debut and he's given another chance.
