2nd (16) (3/1 +14%)Star Of The Week |
3/1(+14%) | (16) Star Of The Week 3/1, Made mistakes but a promising debut, not knocked about once chance was gone when third beaten 9l in a maiden hurdle at Limerick; effective at 2m on heavy ground; debut form looks good and should progress. Limerick debut third (2l ahead of Sense Of Occasion) puts him in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (3/1 -60%)Boedic |
3/1(-60%) | (7) Boedic 3/1, Made mistakes and was green but showed minor promise on debut when comfortably held in a maiden hurdle at Thurles last time; looked in need the run that day; trainer in form; effective at 2m and should improve significantly for that effort for top stable. Disappointing Thurles effort last month but may have needed the run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (15) (9/2 +50%)Sense Of Occasion |
9/2(+50%) | (15) Sense Of Occasion 9/2, Improved for debut experience but comfortably held in a maiden hurdle at Limerick last time; that strong form; effective at 2m on heavy ground and open to further progress if getting a stiff test. Recent Limerick run a step in the right direction; not one to rule out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

66/1(+18%) | (11) Largy Spirit 66/1, Ran to form but well beaten in a maiden hurdle here latest; effective at 2m4f on yielding and good ground; drop in trip may not suit. Never counted on last month's return at this track for new yard; hard to fancy. |

200/1(+0%) | (8) Crowe Street 200/1, Never in the race when down the field in a maiden hurdle at Punchestown most recently; likely to need more time. Beaten a long way in maidens last month at Clonmel and Punchestown; can only be watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

22/1(+33%) | (3) Coco Masterpiece 22/1, Pulled up in a maiden hurdle at Ayr latest; effective at 2m and acts with cut; has had plenty of issues but bumper winner is the type to make a useful hurdler. Pulled up early on recent Ayr comeback; questions to answer now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (14) (250/1 -25%)Parkland |
250/1(-25%) | (14) Parkland 250/1, Made mistakes and continued in poor form when down the field in a maiden hurdle at Cork most recent; hard to fancy. Placed on the Flat for Andrew Balding but three maiden hurdle runs have offered nothing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (20) (150/1 -127%)Whispering Hopes |
150/1(-127%) | (20) Whispering Hopes 150/1, Below form after a fall when comfortably held in a handicap hurdle at Downpatrick last time; in good form prior; returning from a break; effective around 2m1f on a sound surface; needs to bounce back. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
15th (5) (150/1 0%)Goin' |
150/1(0%) | (5) Goin' 150/1, Modest effort when down the field in a maiden hurdle at Leopardstown most recent; effective at 2m; formerly Listed placed in Germany and likely to offer more over hurdles in time but probably in handicaps. Dual German Flat winner beaten a long way on both maiden hurdle runs; easily overlooked. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
16th (12) (150/1 +25%)Microscope |
150/1(+25%) | (12) Microscope 150/1, Ran to form but comfortably held in a bumper at Downpatrick last time; absent for a lengthy period; showed little in bumpers and up against it on hurdle debut. Two bumper runs haven't offered much; easily overlooked now switched to hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
17th (18) (250/1 -25%)Lady Victrix |
250/1(-25%) | (18) Lady Victrix 250/1, Improved from debut but still modest form when well beaten in a maiden hurdle at Fairyhouse latest; all to prove in this grade. Comeback run at Fairyhouse last week leaves her with plenty to find. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
18th (19) (250/1 -25%)Six Mile Suzy |
250/1(-25%) | (19) Six Mile Suzy 250/1, Yet to show any real signs of ability; all to prove. Tailed off in bumpers including here at Christmas; easily discounted on hurdles bow. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (9/4 +44%)Whinney Hill |
9/4(+44%) | (6) Whinney Hill 9/4, Made mistakes and raced lazily but back to form down in class when fourth beaten 4 1/4l in a maiden hurdle at Fairyhouse latest; off a short break; effective at 2m; bumper winner but a very tricky ride. Hung and jumped badly left on latest but big player on overall profile. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (10) (150/1 -50%)Jodoro |
150/1(-50%) | (10) Jodoro 150/1, Ran to form but was comfortably held in a 4yo bumper at Navan last time; returning from a break; effective at 2m on good ground but needs more now tackling hurdles. Some bumper promise but not enough to warrant close consideration here on hurdles debut. |

BUD FOX won nicely on his Rules debut at the Punchestown Festival before making the frame in a Listed bumper at Cheltenham's November meeting. He clearly wasn't at his best when sixth at Leopardstown over Christmas, but the switch to hurdles promises to yield improvement from this point-to-point winner. Star Of The Week (third) was two places ahead of Sense Of Occasion at Limerick and the pair are capable of being in the mix, while Boedic could leave behind his Thurles effort.

Although needing to jump better than he did at Fairyhouse it may be worth persevering with WHINNEY HILL

C&D maiden winner, made no impression over a longer trip at Leopardstown on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (4/1 +33%)Night Moon |
4/1(+33%) | (4) Night Moon 4/1, Ran to form when comfortably held in a maiden hurdle at Cork last time; 12f Flat winner, effective at 2m and suited by cut; more to come over hurdles for top yard when settling. Has questions to answer, others preferred despite the stable's excellent current form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (9/2 +25%)Youlita |
9/2(+25%) | (7) Youlita 9/2, Had too much to do, needed the run, and was probably unsuited by a drop in trip when beaten 9 1/4l in a novice hurdle at Cork last time; trainer in form; effective 2-2 1/4m, acts on good going; progressing over hurdles with more to come when stepped back up in trip. Finished 6l behind third-placed Spinola Bay at Cork, might not be much between them now.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (40/1 -150%)Jazz Forever |
40/1(-150%) | (3) Jazz Forever 40/1, Ran to form when fourth beaten 4l in a handicap at Dundalk latest; effective up to 11f on flat and 2m4f over hurdles, acts on all-weather; bit to prove back over hurdles. Ran well on the AW at Dundalk last week, others appear to have better hurdling claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (5/1 +64%)Mavetherave |
5/1(+64%) | (6) Mavetherave 5/1, Hung up the hill, needed the run, and may have found the ground too testing when down the field in a handicap hurdle at Navan most recent; effective 2m6f, looks a strong stayer; consistent in maidens. Finished in midfield on handicap debut at Navan;, needs to raise his game now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (11/4 +0%)Spinola Bay |
11/4(+0%) | (2) Spinola Bay 11/4, Yard has won the last two runnings of this race; finished 3 1/4l third in a novice hurdle at Cork on most recent start and would've been closer but for late error; cheekpieces first time; effective 2m-2m5f, acts on any going; progressing over hurdles. Back-to-back handicap wins before third in a race like this at Navan, should go close. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (8) (6/1 -140%)Zuzukel |
6/1(-140%) | (8) Zuzukel 6/1, Travelled well and improved for testing ground when second beaten a short head in a handicap hurdle at Punchestown latest; off a short break; effective 2m, suited by cut; progressing over hurdles and could get involved. Narrowly denied in a 2m Punchestown handicap two months ago, winner has franked the form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (11/1 +31%)Beckistine |
11/1(+31%) | (5) Beckistine 11/1, May not have stayed when comfortably held in a novice hurdle at Limerick last time; effective at 2m, acts on any going; shaped with promise in maidens and must bounce back. Has plenty to prove at this stage, trainer won a similar race at Fairyhouse last week.. |

Although Jony R has a course victory to his name, his two subsequent efforts have left a lot to be desired and it may pay to side with ZUZUKEL. The six-year-old showed significant improvement when touched off in a handicap at Punchestown in November and if building on that display, he could prove a tough nut to crack. The in-form Spinola Bay sports first-time cheekpieces and is far from out of it.

The vote goes to ZUZUKEL, whose handicap second at Punchestown in November was shown in a good light by the winner recently

13/2(+13%) | (5) Missus Beeton 13/2, Made mistakes and tired late on ground softer than ideal when fourth, beaten 16l in a handicap hurdle at Cork latest. Cheekpieces applied for the first time. Effective over 2 1/2m and acts on good ground. Generally consistent but may find this sharp enough test. Seems best on good ground, has almost 10l to find with Catchabird on recent Cork running. |

10/1(+29%) | (7) Mi Lucky Cailin 10/1, Made too much use of the running and needed the outing when down the field in a handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse most recently. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

7/2(-17%) | (8) Catchabird 7/2, Ran to form when second, beaten 6l in a handicap hurdle at Cork latest. Effective over 2–2 1/2m and acts with cut. Consistent performer who travels strongly. Breakthrough win is feasible following her second at Cork, has an edge over Missus Beeton. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (11/2 +0%)Clody Diamond |
11/2(+0%) | (2) Clody Diamond 11/2, Bit below form when beaten 9 1/2l in a maiden hurdle at Limerick last time. Effective around 2m4f and acts on yielding to soft and heavy ground. More to offer now handicapping off a potentially lenient mark. Fair fifth in a maiden at Limerick on her seasonal debut, open to improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (6/1 +8%)Beautiful Chaos |
6/1(+8%) | (6) Beautiful Chaos 6/1, Ran to form when second, beaten 13l in a handicap hurdle at Tramore latest. Effective at 2m and acts on soft and good ground. Holding decent form in both codes and looks a big player. Clear of the remainder when chasing home an easy winner at Tramore on New Year's Day. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (10) (12/1 0%)Patty O'farrell |
12/1(0%) | (10) Patty O'farrell 12/1, Keen and found the ground too testing when down the field in a handicap hurdle at Naas most recent. Effective over 2m and acts on good ground. Needs to get back to level of summer form to figure. Useful handicap form on good ground, struggled in testing conditions at Naas last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (15/2 +70%)Rockstown Girl |
15/2(+70%) | (4) Rockstown Girl 15/2, Travelled well and was going nicely when departing as the race developed over fences last time, looked likely to have played a part in the finish. Effective around 2m4f and acts on soft and good ground. Inconsistent but on a fair mark if building on that latest effort. Has been struggling this season, going well enough when brought down last Thursday. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

28/1(-133%) | (9) Gangster Granny 28/1, Below form when down the field in a maiden hurdle at Fairyhouse most recent. Effective over 2m. A multiple flat winner who can improve over hurdles in handicaps. Won twice on the Flat for Jessica Harrington, tailed off at Fairyhouse on yard debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (11) (7/2 +71%)Walk In The Sea |
7/2(+71%) | (11) Walk In The Sea 7/2, Fell in a handicap chase here last time when going well. Effective over 2 1/2m and needs more now returning to hurdles. Fell in a chase at this venue on latest, unplaced in seven outings over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (3) (20/1 +29%)Stiltellinemnuttin |
20/1(+29%) | (3) Stiltellinemnuttin 20/1, Never in the race and needed the run when down the field in a handicap hurdle at Leopardstown most recently. Effective at 2m and acts with cut, though remains inconsistent and her mark looks stiff. Always at the back on handicap debut at Leopardstown, needs to improve considerably. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (12) (66/1 +0%)Ringcreevy Diamond |
66/1(+0%) | (12) Ringcreevy Diamond 66/1, Stopped quickly after a bad error when down the field in a handicap hurdle here most recently. Yet to show any worthwhile ability. Weak maiden form; pulled up in a point-to-point; tailed off over C&D on handicap debut.. |

Aruntothequeen is taken to go well for a top yard and the booking of Jack Kennedy suggests connections are confident. She does have to concede a lot of weight to her rivals, though, and perhaps CATCHABIRD could take full advantage of that coming in here on the back of a very creditable second behind Cousin Kate at Cork. Beautiful Chaos filled the runner-up berth at Tramore and that form gives her every chance.

A race of this standard provides a decent opportunity for CATCHABIRD, whose Limerick second gives her the beating of Missus Beeton

1st (3) (28/1 -75%)Verbal Sparring |
28/1(-75%) | (3) Verbal Sparring 28/1, Fell in a handicap hurdle at Navan last time. Wears a tongue-tie for the first time and returns from a short break. Effective at 2m, acts on any ground, and generally consistent though dependent on a strong pace. Didn't get beyond the first at Navan last time; tongue-tie tried, hard to be confident in. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (7/2 +86%)Gamigin |
7/2(+86%) | (2) Gamigin 7/2, Never put into the race when finishing down the field in a handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse last time. Effective at 2m, acts on soft and good ground; out of form in both codes but handicapper has relented and he likes this venue. C&D winner; recent form none too encouraging and remains on a high enough mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (15/2 +25%)Aswellasabentley |
15/2(+25%) | (5) Aswellasabentley 15/2, Pulled up in a handicap hurdle here last time. Effective between 2m and 2 1/4m, acts on soft and good ground; needs to bounce back after a couple of below-par runs. Favourite over C&D but never landed a blow and pulled up latest; questions to answer. |

10/1(+17%) | (1) Tsavo Park 10/1, Keen and ran to form when 6 1/2l third in a handicap hurdle at Naas on his latest start. Effective at 2m and currently in form. Recent Naas third his best run yet; down in grade here so top-weight respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (12) (5/1 -43%)Might Be The One |
5/1(-43%) | (12) Might Be The One 5/1, Ran to form when beaten a nose off a 3lb lower mark at Limerick last time. Effective at 2 1/2m, acts on soft ground; improving in handicaps though the drop in trip may not suit. Narrow 2m3f Limerick defeat augurs well but drop in trip may not be ideal. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

20/1(+50%) | (11) Lejolicoeur Du Mou 20/1, Never threatened on handicap debut when down the field in a Fairyhouse handicap hurdle last time. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

16/1(+68%) | (20) Avandra 16/1, Outpaced and looked in need of further when down the field in a handicap hurdle here last time. Effective around 2 1/2m; exposed and a poor maiden. Now 0-14 hurdling, good bit to find with Boston Bobby on recent C&D run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (19) (10/1 +44%)Sekifi |

Entitled to come on from comeback run; tongue-tie tried and encouraging jockey booking. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (18) (18/1 +10%)Go Gill Go |
18/1(+10%) | (18) Go Gill Go 18/1, Needed the run when well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Punchestown last time. Effective at 2m, acts on good but best with cut; out of form but could come on for latest outing. Long losing run, 11yo showing no signs of ending the barren spell in recent starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|B| (9) (11/1 -10%)Opposite Ends |
11/1(-10%) | (9) Opposite Ends 11/1, Unseated in a handicap hurdle at Limerick last time. Trainer in form; effective at 2m and acts on good ground. Still early days and could bounce back when returned to quicker conditions. Trip possibly too far at Limerick; return to shorter trip to suit and yard in fine form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (16) (25/1 +50%)Copper Rocker |
25/1(+50%) | (16) Copper Rocker 25/1, Never threatened and may have found the ground a bit quick when down the field in a juvenile hurdle at Leopardstown last time. Acts with cut; one for handicaps and may stay slightly further in time. Lightly raced 4yo, hard to make a case for on handicap debut on scant evidence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (4) (22/1 +33%)Surrey Force |
22/1(+33%) | (4) Surrey Force 22/1, Outclassed up in grade when finishing down the field in a maiden hurdle at Leopardstown most recently. Effective at around 2 1/2m and acts on soft ground; consistent maiden on the Flat in the UK but opening mark demands more over hurdles. Has failed to land a blow in three maiden hurdles; opening mark probably on the high side. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (6) (16/1 -220%)Lips Freedom |
16/1(-220%) | (6) Lips Freedom 16/1, Outpaced and never threatened when down the field in a handicap hurdle at Leopardstown most recently. Usually held up; effective around 2m. Listed Flat winner who should be better than this mark over hurdles but yet to show it. Never counted on handicap debut at Leopardstown over Christmas; opposable off 1lb lower. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (11/2 -10%)I Feel Fine |
11/2(-10%) | (7) I Feel Fine 11/2, Possibly made his move a bit too soon up in trip when comfortably held in a handicap hurdle at Limerick last time. Effective at 2m and appears to act on any ground; in fair form and looks a major player down in trip. May not have stayed 2m3f last time; drop back in trip should suit and remains of interest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (17/2 +29%)Kingdom Calling |
17/2(+29%) | (8) Kingdom Calling 17/2, Met trouble and had too much to do after, beaten 9l in a handicap hurdle here last time. Effective at 2m, acts on soft and good ground; fair mark on maiden form and could reverse form with last time out conqueror. Okay C&D effort at Christmas behind Boston Bobby but hard to see him reversing that form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (10) (100/1 -52%)Promo Queen |
100/1(-52%) | (10) Promo Queen 100/1, Poor Flat return when down the field in a handicap at Dundalk most recently. Effective between 7f and 10f with cut; currently in moderate form in both codes. None too fluent when pulled up on handicap debut at Fairyhouse; poor AW run since. |

MIGHT BE THE ONE came within a whisker of getting off the mark at Limerick's Christmas meeting and the form has been franked by the winner following up. Andrew McNamara's mare shouldn't be too inconvenienced by a 3lb rise and can stop Boston Bobby from recording back-to-back triumphs. Tsavo Park made the frame when dropped to 2m at Naas, while I Feel Fine found disappointingly little for favourite-backers behind the selection at Limerick but could at least close the gap.

Recent C&D winner Boston Bobby rates a big danger but slight preference is for Limerick second MIGHT BE THE ONE

Limerick third in a similar event augurs well; progressive and J J Slevin's choice. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (10/3 0%)He's Gorgeous |
10/3(0%) | (1) He's Gorgeous 10/3, Had too much to do but improved up in class when fourth, beaten 17l in the Racing Post Novice Chase (Grade 1) at Leopardstown last time; effective at around 2 1/2m and acts on any ground; progressive and though worth stepping back up in trip he looks the class edge here. 12/1(-243%) | (2) Mclaurey 12/1, Made mistakes and was never in the race when well beaten in a handicap chase at Naas last time; may have found the ground too soft and probably wanted further; effective from 2m to 2 3/4m; progressive hurdler last term with more to come over fences back on better ground. Jumping awry in handicap last time; back in novice grade and Mark Walsh remains loyal. |

5th (6) (9/1 +36%)Koori Star |
9/1(+36%) | (6) Koori Star 9/1, Ran to form when fourth, beaten 28l in a beginners chase at Fairyhouse last time; effective from 2m2f to 3m and handles soft and good ground; consistent and can progress over fences when handicapping at longer trips but threat if getting stiff test. Well held last week over inadequate trip; again needs more of a stamina test than this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (17/2 -55%)Karafon |
17/2(-55%) | (4) Karafon 17/2, Improved from his debut when upped in trip to finish second, beaten 4 1/4l in a handicap chase at Ayr last time; wears cheekpieces for the first time; effective from 2m to 2 1/2m and handles ground with cut; well treated on hurdle form and may have more to offer over fences. Recent Ayr handicap second over 2m5f suggests this shorter trip may not suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (25/1 -56%)Splashing Out |
25/1(-56%) | (7) Splashing Out 25/1, Pulled up in a handicap chase at Navan last time; course winner previously; wears blinkers for the first time; effective at 2m and acts on any ground; still potential based on hurdles form but has been inconsistent recently. Penultimate C&D second off 4lb lower gives her a squeak but this a better race. |

This represents a considerable drop in class for He's Gorgeous after finishing fourth in Grade 1 company at Leopardstown and he is likely to be thereabouts. However, SKY LORD could turn the tables on Mclaurey after finishing just under three lengths behind him in fourth at Fairyhouse last month. Henry de Bromhead's charge was pressured for the lead throughout that day and should have more to offer on just his third chase start.

Grade 1 fourth HELLO GORGEOUS looks on a nice mark and can score from Anotherway, who receives a nice bit of weight

1st (13) (10/11 +39%)Shanroe Act |
10/11(+39%) | (13) Shanroe Act 10/11, Stable won this last year; won comfortably when landing a gamble in a handicap by 9l off this mark at Fairyhouse last time; effective over 2 1/2m on heavy ground and may have more to offer now he has won; strong claims on chase debut. Bolted up over hurdles last week, gets to compete off his old hurdles mark on chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (25/1 -25%)Luimneach |
25/1(-25%) | (5) Luimneach 25/1, Made mistakes and ran below form when down the field in a handicap chase at Thurles last time; off a short break; effective from 2m to 2 1/2m but yet to take to chasing. Twice successful over hurdles, ordinary handicap chase form so far, premature to write off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (11) (14/1 +30%)Royal Time |
14/1(+30%) | (11) Royal Time 14/1, Made mistakes and ran poorly on his chase return when comfortably held in a handicap chase here last time; best suited by a stiff 2m on good ground and needs to bounce back. Beaten 24l in fifth over C&D last month, 14l behind Tell Nobody Nothin on that occasion. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (9/2 +36%)Tell Nobody Nothin |
9/2(+36%) | (4) Tell Nobody Nothin 9/2, Ran to form when 10l third in a handicap chase here last time; effective between 2m and 3m; on a fair mark from hurdles but proving frustrating. Has been running quite consistently, each-way chance based on C&D third last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (9/2 +36%)Oneforgonzo |
9/2(+36%) | (6) Oneforgonzo 9/2, Travelled strongly and returned to form on a quick reappearance, outbattled late when beaten 1/2l off a 10lb higher mark at Fairyhouse last time; effective over 3m and handles cut; in good heart. Looks interesting off his lower chase mark after a fine second over hurdles at Fairyhouse. |

|F| (10) (18/1 +45%)Harley Street |
18/1(+45%) | (10) Harley Street 18/1, Had no obvious excuse when down the field in a handicap at Dundalk last time; off a short break; effective over 2m on yielding ground but inconsistent over hurdles; bit to prove on chase debut. Flat winner for Aidan O'Brien, ran well on the first of two hurdle races for this stable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (12/1 -33%)Kazbek |
12/1(-33%) | (7) Kazbek 12/1, Returned to form when allowed an easy lead, beaten 1 1/2l off a 1lb lower mark at Punchestown last time; effective between 2m and 2 1/2m on soft and good ground; showing steady progress. Has been showing a fair standard over hurdles, lack of chasing experience raises a doubt. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (18/1 +28%)Elusive Guy |
18/1(+28%) | (2) Elusive Guy 18/1, Ran to form when beaten 7 1/2l in a handicap at Thurles last time; unexposed over fences; returns from a break and could run well if fit. Had an outing on the Flat in October, ended last season with a poor handicap chase run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (20/1 -43%)Warm In Gorey |
20/1(-43%) | (8) Warm In Gorey 20/1, Departed just as the race was developing over hurdles last time; running well over fences prior to that; consistent type effective between 2m and 2 1/2m. Three-time winner over hurdles, 0-15 over fences, placed seven times, each-way chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (12) (25/1 +24%)Shanroe Nancy |
25/1(+24%) | (12) Shanroe Nancy 25/1, Stable won this last year; flattened out after being hampered by a faller when down the field in a handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse last time; usually held up, effective over 2m on good ground, yet to prove up to this mark over hurdles. No chasing experience and his stablemate Shanroe Act has the merit of recent winning form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (33/1 +34%)Bocelli's Voice |
33/1(+34%) | (1) Bocelli's Voice 33/1, Ran poorly when finishing down the field in a handicap chase at Punchestown last time; effective over 2 1/2m but his form is on the decline. No sign of his best form this season, dropping in the ratings but chance is not obvious. |

SHANROE ACT bounced back in style at Fairyhouse last Thursday when scoring by nine lengths over hurdles. The eight-year-old makes his debut over fences and can take advantage of being able to run off the same mark as he did last week. Toon Town was beaten by a short head at Catterick and has every chance of improving over this distance. Others for the shortlist include Oneforgonzo and Kazbek.

If putting in an error-free round on his first attempt over fences SHANROE ACT should add to last week's runaway hurdles success

1st (4) (4/1 +47%)Lucky Lyreen |
4/1(+47%) | (4) Lucky Lyreen 4/1, Never put into the race on his final qualifying run and may have wanted a stiffer test when comfortably held in a beginners' chase at Fairyhouse last time. Cheekpieces on for the first time; effective from 2 1/2m to 3m and likely to improve for further over fences in handicaps. Useful hurdler, two wins and rated 129, nothing of note over fences yet, cheekpieces added. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (5/1 +64%)Born Braver |
5/1(+64%) | (1) Born Braver 5/1, Outpaced and looked in need of a stiffer test when comfortably held in a handicap chase at Punchestown last time. Effective from 2 1/2m to 3m and on a good mark based on hurdle form; should do better over this bit further. Return to a longer trip may suit since he won twice in points and also won a 3m hurdle. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (7/2 +0%)Al Kalila |
7/2(+0%) | (2) Al Kalila 7/2, Yard won this race last year. Travelled well and ran to form when possibly outstayed late after making a move too soon, finishing 8 1/4l third in a handicap chase at Kelso. Effective from 2 1/2m to 3m; form franked and fair mark over fences. Placed in small-field handicap chases at Kelso, needs to raise his game on the home front. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (14/1 +58%)Whatcouldhavebeen |
14/1(+58%) | (3) Whatcouldhavebeen 14/1, Made mistakes, outpaced and outclassed when comfortably held in the Dawn Run Mares Novice Chase (Grade 2) at Limerick last time. Effective from 2m4f to 3m and handles soft ground; yet to match hurdles form over fences. Nowhere near her best over fences, 12lb below her hurdles rating but hard to fancy. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (10/1 +50%)Shantou Show |
10/1(+50%) | (8) Shantou Show 10/1, Had every chance but ran below form when well beaten in a handicap chase at Thurles latest. Back from a short break; effective around 2m6f on good ground and possibly flattered by hunter form; worth a try at 3m. No success since two hunter chases wins in 2023, unplaced in four starts for this yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (28/1 +0%)Stormy Judge |
28/1(+0%) | (6) Stormy Judge 28/1, Pulled up in a handicap chase at Navan last time. Wants 3m and some give in the ground, better over fences; out of form for a while. Declining mark has failed to spark a revival in fortunes, pulled up at Navan last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (9) (7/2 +13%)Duffys Hodey |
7/2(+13%) | (9) Duffys Hodey 7/2, Scored by 4 1/4l off a 12lb lower mark at Limerick two runs back and improved when second, beaten a length off 90 last time; now 5lb higher. Usually held up; effective from 2 1/2m to 3m and suited by soft ground. Very generous chase mark and longer trip could suit. Limerick winner was possibly unlucky not to follow up at Tramore, should go close. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (7) (9/2 -177%)Diamond Dollar |
9/2(-177%) | (7) Diamond Dollar 9/2, Travelled strongly and went clear as the pace collapsed, dispatching a weak field to land a handicap by 22l off a 15lb lower mark at Punchestown last time. Effective at 2 1/2m and handles soft ground; progressive with more to come over fences. In control before the last on chase debut at Punchestown, big chance despite 15lb rise. |

Al Kalila likely has more to offer over fences and is respected, likewise Duffys Hodey, who just doesn't know how to run badly and gets in here under a light weight. That being said, DIAMOND DOLLAR is preferred as he arrives chasing a hat-trick following a very impressive Punchestown success recently. That was his first attempt over the larger obstacles and even a 15lb hike in the weights might not be enough to prevent him from scoring again.

Despite having gone up 15lb for a facile win on his chasing debut, DIAMOND DOLLAR can follow up
Ths is the racecard key.
