It is very hard to oppose THE YELLOW CLAY, who bolted up in the Grade 1 Lawlor's Of Naas Novice Hurdle in January before finding only Champion Hurdle favourite The New Lion too good in the Turners at Cheltenham. His subsequent effort at Punchestown can easily be forgiven and Gordon Elliott's charge clearly tops the shortlist. Stablemate Casheldale Lad may well be the main danger after his Listowel success last month, while Bacchanalian is the pick of the remainder.

SOMEONE'S WISH made a winning return over hurdles at Downpatrick three weeks ago and, despite being 4lb higher than when second in this race 12 months ago, he could go in again. The son of Buratino should still have more to offer over the larger obstacles, while it is noteworthy that Jack Kennedy opts to ride him ahead of stablemate St Faz. Handicap-debutant Seskin Flash merits respect, as does the in-form Sayitfirst.

Having won a Grade 1 over timber before placing in the Supreme, ROMEO COOLIO is the clear pick. The six-year-old was second in the Top Novices' Hurdle at Aintree on his final start last season and he is likely to play a big role in this sphere if taking to fences. Koktail Divin progressed well as a novice hurdler and may have more to offer now switched to the larger obstacles. Where's My Jet edges out Patter Merchant to be best of the rest.

Gordon Elliott often starts one of his better bumper prospects at this meeting and SKERRY HILL leaps off the page as an impressive point-to-point winner who was bought for 205,000 pounds at the Cheltenham Festival sale. He appears the yard's primary hope, although Panjandrum also struck between the flags and must not be dismissed lightly. Hopeful Hero has experience on his side and will be waiting to pounce if the Elliott runners fail to come up to scratch.
