14:05 Epsom Downs (Class 5) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

GASCONY can easily be forgiven a last-of-11 in a far better race on heavy ground at Goodwood, and is better judged on his previous Leicester second when only beaten half a length on quicker going. He may make amends here, with Tommie Jakes' 5lb claim a bonus. Who Is Alice won over this trip at Chepstow and pulled too hard at Newbury last month, while Jowalla would also be of interest if first-time cheekpieces bring any improvement.

The vote goes to WHO IS ALICE, who created a good impression on her penultimate start and could be hard to peg back round here.

14:40 Epsom Downs (Class 4) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Lady Vanguard cost 320,000gns as a yearling and is one to watch ahead of her debut, but experience can count significantly and CALENDAR GIRL gets the vote. A 14/1 chance on her Newbury introduction, she only needed to be shaken up to win by over three lengths. Although she has to give 7lb to her rivals now, that does not look beyond her. Crazee Icon looked the type to learn plenty from her first appearance in that Newbury contest and could surprise with the minor placing.

Impossible not to be impressed by CALENDAR GIRL on debut and it will be disappointing if this Group 2 entrant can't defy the penalty.

15:15 Epsom Downs (Class 4) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

KISSKODI failed to see out the seventh furlong after pulling too hard at York but is far better suited by this trip, with victories at Brighton, Leicester and over this C&D on his previous three starts. He can get back to winning ways, although he does need a career best off this mark. Winged Messenger is admirably consistent, with five top-three finishes this season, and he may prove the biggest danger, followed by bottom-weight Nordic Games.

Competitive but BONA FORTUNA is at the top of his game and gets the nod.

15:50 Epsom Downs (Class 6) 10f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

HARLINGTON arrives in winning form having just prevailed at Chepstow last month and a 3lb rise is unlikely to stop the four-year-old from backing that performance up. San Francisco Bay has to enter calculations based on his latest success at Nottingham, but he may need everything to go his way off a 5lb higher mark. With that in mind, Letsbeatsepsis might prove to be the biggest threat.

Preference is for SAN FRANCISCO BAY (nap), who justified favouritism with a dominant display off a reduced mark at Nottingham.

MAKES ME WONDER brings a consistent level of form to proceedings and this appears to be an excellent opportunity for David Simcock's gelding to get his head in front for the second time in his career. Sonic Pioneer had excuses when hampered at Wolverhampton in June and he is more than capable of bouncing back to form, while dropping back slightly in trip might aid the cause of Dalmally.

Top of the list is MAKES ME WONDER, who has finished close up in his last three runs including a clear second at Yarmouth 12 days ago.

About U.K Horse Racing

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.

There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.

The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.

Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.

In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.

Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
