1st (5) (9/4 +50%)Dunsy Rock |
9/4(+50%) | (5) Dunsy Rock 9/4, Yard has won 2 of the last 6 runnings of this race and she made a very promising debut when fourth beaten 11l in a maiden hurdle at Down Royal. Effective at 2 1/2m and should improve for that initial experience. Eyecatching Down Royal debut makes her a likely major player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) (11/4 -10%)Likealightswitch |
11/4(-10%) | (8) Likealightswitch 11/4, Ran to form when second, beaten 1 1/4l, in a maiden hurdle at Clonmel last time. Effective at 2m but has a bit to find at this level. Recent Clonmel second should be thereabouts but vulnerable to less-exposed types. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

10/3(+52%) | (1) Alliteration 10/3, Very promising debut when third beaten 23l in a maiden hurdle here on her latest run. Trainer is in form, she is effective at 2-2 1/4m, and was beaten by a classy rival on debut, so should be winning soon. Hurdles debut third here last month promising; drop in trip not ideal but a player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

15/2(-7%) | (16) Louie's Folly 15/2, Had too much to do when ridden to see out the trip, finishing comfortably held in a maiden hurdle at Punchestown last time. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (15) (22/1 -38%)Ziso |
22/1(-38%) | (15) Ziso 22/1, Yard has won 2 of the last 6 runnings of this race and she made a very promising debut when well beaten in a bumper at Navan. Off a short break, effective at 2m, and should improve now switched to hurdling. Midfield in Navan bumper in November; again appears the lesser likely of the Elliott pair. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (2) (66/1 0%)Annie's Belle |
66/1(0%) | (2) Annie's Belle 66/1, Made mistakes but showed minor promise on debut when well beaten in a maiden hurdle here on her only start. A drop in trip could suit, but plenty more is needed. Poet's Word mare didn't count on debut here last month; lots to find with Alliteration. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

50/1(-213%) | (10) Musique Des Champs 50/1, Ran to form when well beaten in a Mares bumper at Limerick on her latest start. Effective at 2m, consistent in bumpers, and may have more to offer now switched to hurdles. Mild promise in bumpers; not an obvious one to make an immediate impact hurdling. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (3) (250/1 -150%)Annilogs Flame |
250/1(-150%) | (3) Annilogs Flame 250/1, Modest effort when finishing down the field in a maiden hurdle at Navan on her most recent start. Off a short break, this pointer is likely to need further and more time under rules. Tailed off on return at Navan in December; best watched. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (11) (400/1 -300%)Question Asked |
400/1(-300%) | (11) Question Asked 400/1, Never threatened when finishing down the field in a graduation hurdle at Punchestown on her most recent run. Looks one for low-grade handicaps. Soundly beaten at big odds in maidens at Clonmel and Punchestown last month; passed over. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
15th (6) (400/1 -300%)Lake Okeechobee |
400/1(-300%) | (6) Lake Okeechobee 400/1, Green and made mistakes when showing little again, well beaten in a maiden hurdle at Killarney on her latest start. Returning from a break and has plenty to prove. Two maiden runs haven't offered much; likely more one for handicaps in due course. |

DUNSY ROCK was friendless in the market on debut, but ran a cracker when keeping on well into fourth behind stablemate Sept Etoiles over 2m4f at Down Royal. She should benefit from that experience and hopefully can cope with the testing conditions. Alliteration won a Galway bumper and faced a tough task on her hurdling debut when third to Bambino Fever here over 2m2f last month, with a couple of these rivals well behind. Likealightswitch also enters calculations on her second to Radiator Springs at Clonmel last time, while The Dotski is a half-sister to three winners and any market support would be significant.

Not much strength in depth here and perhaps DUNSY ROCK can build on an eyecatching debut effort at Down Royal to score

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (6/1 -80%)Lincoln Du Seuil |
6/1(-80%) | (8) Lincoln Du Seuil 6/1, The yard has won the last two runnings of this race. Was below debut level when down the field in a maiden hurdle at Naas most recently; hood is reapplied and he is capable of better. Tame enough comeback run at Naas but entitled to come on for that. |

80/1(-60%) | (7) Koeur A Prendre 80/1, Cobra Bleu gelding. Dam was a chase winner in France. Likely to need this initial experience. Newcomer best watched. |

150/1(-200%) | (6) Home By The Sea 150/1, Was outpaced and made a modest debut when well beaten in a bumper here on his only start. Has plenty to find now switching to hurdling. Last of 5 on debut in decent bumper here on New Year's Day; best watched. |

200/1(-100%) | (12) Whatafoolbelieves 200/1, Was outpaced and looked in need of a stiffer test when down the field in a maiden hurdle at Down Royal most recently. Likely one for handicaps over further. Modest form in three maidens; looks more likely to need handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (3) (50/1 -127%)Double Power |
50/1(-127%) | (3) Double Power 50/1, Was a bit below form when comfortably held in a graduation hurdle at Punchestown last time. Effective at 2m4f and may do better when moving into handicaps. Two maiden hurdle runs suggest he'll be of more interest in handicaps. |

150/1(-200%) | (11) The Weeping Ash 150/1, Kingston Hill gelding; full-brother to Hear Me Out, smart at 17f; dam was moderate at 12f. Brother to bumper winner Hear Me Out; newcomer best watched unless market speaks. |

SPRINGHILL WARRIOR filled the runner-up spot on debut at Navan last spring and was absent until again taking second behind the odds-on I Started A Joke at Punchestown last month. That form received a boost on Sunday and the Gordon Elliott-trained gelding should progress and go one better. Lincoln Du Seuil won a French bumper and has shown some promise over hurdles, but needs to bounce back after a disappointing effort at Naas. Grandy Lane has gone close in a bumper and over hurdles, while French import Harwa hails from a yard in good form and is one to keep an eye on in the betting.

SPRINGHILL WARRIOR (nap) comes here on the back of 2 good runs in maidens and is expected to see off Lincoln Du Seuil and Harwa

300/1(-200%) | (4) Cola Blaze 300/1, Outclassed when well beaten in the Limestone Lad Hurdle (Grade 3) at Naas on her latest start. Effective at around 2m, but she has been highly tried and looks in need of a drop in grade. Tailed off on both hurdles outings last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (66/1 -65%)Atomic Queen |
66/1(-65%) | (2) Atomic Queen 66/1, Needed the run when finishing down the field on her handicap debut in a handicap hurdle at Leopardstown last time. Effective over 2m–2m2f, but her current mark demands more than she has shown so far. Well held on handicap debut recently; ground concerns upped in grade. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

OLDSCHOOL OUTLAW has progressed really well since joining Gordon Elliott and the recent JP McManus acquisition can complete a hat-trick. The six-year-old took a Listed bumper at Navan in good style before ending the unbeaten record of Bambino Fever when switched to hurdles at Naas. The form of that maiden has been well advertised since and she now has most to fear from Place De La Nation. Willie Mullins' mare was a creditable fifth in the Triumph Hurdle last spring and has won both outings since returning this season, including a facile success when long odds-on here on New Year's Day. Carry On Heidi may prove the pick of the remainder.

Seemingly a match, with OLDSCHOOL OUTLAW narrowly preferred to Place De La Nation

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (1) (33/1 -83%)Dark Lieutenant |
33/1(-83%) | (1) Dark Lieutenant 33/1, Showed a small improvement when comfortably held in a 4yo bumper here last time. Returns from a short break, is effective at 2m and handles ease in the ground, but more is required to get off the mark back hurdling. Well beaten sole completed hurdle start; notable jockey booking so a decent run possible. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (11) (7/1 +36%)Sky And Sand |
7/1(+36%) | (11) Sky And Sand 7/1, Ran to form when well beaten in a maiden hurdle at Cork latest, upped in trip. 200/1(-203%) | (13) Fervida 200/1, Took a small step in the right direction when down the field in a maiden hurdle here most recently. Looks the type to do better when switched to handicaps. Soundly beaten in a bumper and on completed hurdle starts so best to look elsewhere. |

SOUND AS A BELL impressively beat Boycetown in a point-to-point and having gained experience over hurdles, the Gavin Cromwell-trained gelding takes a drop in class in this maiden for horses who have not finished in the first four under Rules. Don Jefe showed promise when fifth behind The Reverend at Cork and Michael Kenneally again claims a valuable 7lb, while the Ian Donoghue-trained pair Gallant George and Silver Salute are others to consider. Walking Saint has indicated ability on both starts and can't be discounted lightly.

SOUND AS A BELL is a tentative selection dropped in grade for a yard that has been back amongst the winners recently

22/1(-57%) | (6) Sarandon 22/1, Had every chance but ran to form, just tiring late on when beaten 5 1/4l in a handicap hurdle at Punchestown last time. Effective at 2m1f-2m3f and consistent in a short career. Opening two handicap efforts off this mark leave her with a good bit to find. |

FOLLY MASTER finished second to Lough Nigara last month, but still retains a favourable hurdles rating and might turn the form around. A capable heavy-ground chaser who finished second in that sphere when rated 130 last April, Tom Dreaper's eight-year-old had his first start over hurdles since January 2024 in the recent Punchestown race and although beaten five and a half lengths by Lough Nigara, he is 6lb better off. Themanintheanorak has been running well and while 2lb higher than when finishing second here in November, his rider is able to claim 7lb.

Well clear of the remainder when chasing home a gambled-on winner over C&D last month, WAKEY WAKEY MAN can go one better here

Debut form has been franked and he can do better now handicapping. Promise first two hurdle runs; poor last time but still one to consider on h'cap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (11) (28/1 +44%)Falcon Park |
28/1(+44%) | (11) Falcon Park 28/1, Back up in trip when finishing down the field in a handicap hurdle here most recently and may not have stayed. Suited by 2m, with the handicapper relenting, but he is in poor form. Dropping down the weights but for a reason as badly out of form so not easy to fancy. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (25/1 -127%)Trebizond |
25/1(-127%) | (5) Trebizond 25/1, Solid effort when just tiring late, beaten 5l, in a handicap hurdle at Punchestown last time on ground softer than ideal. Effective over 2m-2m4f and may do better back on a sounder surface but good mark on UK form if handling conditions. Decent effort at Punchestown on second run back after a layoff; one to consider. |

|PU| (4) (40/1 -21%)The Guinness Boys |
40/1(-21%) | (4) The Guinness Boys 40/1, Ran to form when finishing down the field in a handicap hurdle at Punchestown most recently. Effective at 2m and with a good yard, but has yet to prove he is up to this mark. Third runner for yard; beaten 11l on second h'cap start last time and needs more. |

OUR UNCLE JACK is a lightly-raced 10-year-old who came good with a recent wide-margin win at Clonmel and might defy the handicapper's 12lb hike. He had previously shown glimpses of useful ability, scoring at Tramore in 2023, and despite his age, might progress higher than today's rating, with his rider being able to claim 4lb. Uptaurintop showed improvement on his handicap debut when a close third to a subsequent winner at Limerick during Christmas and should be competitive. Verbal Sparring is up 7lb following his Down Royal success and completes the shortlist.

OUR UNCLE JACK revelled in testing ground to win by a long way at Clonmel and can score again.

1st (5) (5/1 -11%)Outofafrika |
5/1(-11%) | (5) Outofafrika 5/1, Made a promising debut in a hot contest when comfortably held in a 4yo bumper at Leopardstown last time. Effective at 2m, there may be more to come and he is expected to get further in time. Point winner should have improved from rules debut; yard is in better form now so a player. |

40/1(-82%) | (2) Desmond George 40/1, Ran to form when fourth, beaten 15l, in a 4yo bumper at Navan last time. Returning from a break, he is effective at 2m and may want further than this distance in time. Needs to find a fair bit more after a break and this ground is new to him. |

5th (1) (14/1 -87%)Cocofred |
14/1(-87%) | (1) Cocofred 14/1, Vadamos gelding; half-brother to A Little Magic, who was very useful at 18f; another half-brother placed in a Grade 3 chase for same stable; trained by a top yard. Useful pedigree but will have to be smart to take this on debut; check the market. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (9/1 +10%)Some See Stars |
9/1(+10%) | (6) Some See Stars 9/1, Improved when second, beaten 1 1/4l, in a bumper over this course last time. Effective at 2m, he handles heavy and yielding ground and has a chance in this. Not beaten far at Fairyhouse last time but needs another step forward to take this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (200/1 -100%)Layenda |
200/1(-100%) | (7) Layenda 200/1, Pulled up in a bumper over this course on her latest start. Tries a tongue-tie for the first time and is hard to make a case for on what she has shown. Well beaten in two maiden hurdles and pulled-up in a bumper last time; look elsewhere. |

GREEN HINT debuts for Willie Mullins having shown promise for Stuart Crawford. Successful in a point-to-point, he then finished second in a Punchestown Festival bumper which invariably throws up winners and is already working out nicely. It is encouraging he returns for another bumper at this time of year. Lemmy Caution was a beaten favourite on his last two starts and is vulnerable to smart types, while Some See Stars ran well at Fairyhouse last month. Cocofred's dam scored on her introduction and has already produced six winners, including some smart types.

A point winner who ran a fine race on bumper debut last year, GREEN HINT should be capable of going one better on return
Ths is the racecard key.
