|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (400/1 -167%)Thetownilovedsowel |
400/1(-167%) | (9) Thetownilovedsowel 400/1 Point winner was poor in a maiden hurdle and on sole completed chase start; look elsewhere. |

KAROLINE BANBOU could be the one to side with. She won her maiden hurdle at this track in February and showed ability in fourth a Grade 2 at the Cheltenham Festival. She has Flat speed and enjoys testing ground which makes her a threat to all if taking to fences. Stablemate Karamoja, who was Grade 1-placed over hurdles, looks a big danger on chasing bow. Emmet Mullins runs Mclaurey, who began his chasing career with a reasonable fourth over much further at Thurles, and should be sharper dropping back in trip. Jacob's Ladder, who is race fit from two beginners' chases last month, is far from out of it.

A 133-rated hurdler, MCLAUREY ran a fine race at Thurles on chasing bow and can improve enough to score.

6/4(+0%) | (5) The Enabler 6/4, Had every chance and ran to form on chase debut, just flattening out late to finish a 12l third in a beginners' chase at Punchestown last time. Effective from 2m to 2 1/2m and a consistent performer. Third behind a Willie Mullins-trained pair at Punchestown, stable in terrific form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (6/1 +0%)Talk In The Park |
6/1(+0%) | (3) Talk In The Park 6/1, Unseated in a handicap chase at Punchestown on latest start when under pressure. Effective over 2m6f and may stay 3m. Arrives in good form. Dual hurdles winner, yet to score over fences, fair standard of form, good 7lb claimer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (3/1 +50%)Tareze |
3/1(+50%) | (4) Tareze 3/1, Ran to form when fourth, beaten 9l, in a beginners' chase here last time. Effective at 2m4f and suited by cut in the ground. Listed winning hurdler expected to improve for further over fences with form of debut effort franked. Listed winner over hurdles, beaten by a smart stablemate on the first of two chase starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (7/1 -56%)Brave Fortune |
7/1(-56%) | (2) Brave Fortune 7/1, Won a beginners' chase at Roscommon by 7 1/2l last time. Represents a top course trainer; effective over 2 1/2m to 3m and suited by decent ground. Progressing over fences though the form of that recent win was nothing special. Won 3m1f Roscommon event in June, noteworthy recruit to Joseph O'Brien's select chase team. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (9/2 -29%)Barry Lyndon |
9/2(-29%) | (1) Barry Lyndon 9/2, Travelled and improved on chase debut when winning a beginners' chase here by 2 1/4l last time. Off a short break; effective over 2 1/2m. A consistent hurdler whose debut chase form has been franked; more to come and has a good record at Fairyhouse. Course hurdle winner, made a winning chase debut over C&D, form franked, strong prospects. |

BRAVE FORTUNE holds an eye-catching entry in a Grade 1 novice chase at Limerick over Christmas. He was last seen winning a beginners' chase at Roscommon in June and has some form in the book on testing ground. This is effectively a drop in class for Talk In The Park. His last three outings have seen him finish third in a valuable handicap at Listowel, and fourth in the Munster National at Limerick, before he unseated at Punchestown. He looks nicely weighted with Michael Kenneally taking 7lb off his back. Barry Lyndon won over C&D in October and has to be respected.

With the form of his winning chase debut endorsed by a handicap win for the runner-up, BARRY LYNDON arguably has the best credentials.

1st (2) (7/4 +30%)Ben Hur |
7/4(+30%) | (2) Ben Hur 7/4, Very promising debut when second, beaten 4 1/4l, in a maiden hurdle at Navan last time; effective at 2m and acts on heavy; the type to make a fair hurdler and should improve. Second to a much higher-rated Flat performer at Navan, has a slight edge over Wackestone. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (9) (2/1 +20%)Wackestone |
2/1(+20%) | (9) Wackestone 2/1, Yard has won three of the last four runnings of this race; 6 1/2l third in a maiden hurdle at Navan last time; cheekpieces on for the first time; effective at 2m2f and acts on heavy and soft; useful on the flat and progressive over hurdles; should be winning soon for this top yard. Has 2l to find with Ben Hur on Navan running, cheekpieces could make a difference. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (5/1 -67%)Kibris |
5/1(-67%) | (6) Kibris 5/1, Yard won this last year; made mistakes and did too much too soon when fourth, beaten 9l, in a maiden hurdle at Galway last time; trained by a top course handler; 1m flat winner on easy ground who stays 2m on good; can win over hurdles when jumping improves. Won at two, needs to jump more fluently than at Cork and Galway on his first two attempts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (10/1 +0%)Blue Train |
10/1(+0%) | (4) Blue Train 10/1, Ran to form when second, beaten 3/4l, in a handicap at Kempton last time; progressive on flat in UK; off a short break and market can guide on hurdle debut. Decent record on AW in Britain (won twice) not guaranteed to appreciate soft ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (50/1 -213%)Berto Ramirez |
50/1(-213%) | (3) Berto Ramirez 50/1, Ran to form when fourth, beaten 4l, in a handicap at Dundalk last time; maiden on flat; off a short break and has a bit to find now hurdling. Placed only once from 12 starts on the Flat, has changed stable and is best watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (13) (200/1 -300%)Thilos |
200/1(-300%) | (13) Thilos 200/1, Poor effort in first-time blinkers when finishing down the field in a claimer at Gowran Park last time; poor on flat, returning from a break and has a lot to find on hurdle debut. Regressive Flat maiden for Joseph O'Brien, tough task on hurdles/stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (12) (4/1 +11%)Simple Things |
4/1(+11%) | (12) Simple Things 4/1, Very promising debut third, beaten 8 1/4l, in a maiden hurdle here; effective at 2m and acts on soft to heavy; debut form has been franked and she should be winning soon. More promising than stablemate Good Thoughts on the evidence of debut third over C&D. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (25/1 +0%)Superficial |
25/1(+0%) | (8) Superficial 25/1, Green and made mistakes on a modest debut when well beaten in a juvenile hurdle at Punchestown last time; had been in good form prior; off a short break; effective at 12f and acts on heavy and good; stamina to prove over hurdles. His first hurdle run at Punchestown was disappointing relative to form in Flat handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (1) (250/1 -100%)Antoine De Paris |
250/1(-100%) | (1) Antoine De Paris 250/1, Never in the race when finishing down the field in a maiden hurdle at Punchestown last time; wears a tongue-tie for the first time; effective at 12f but yet to convince with stamina or jumping over hurdles. Won a middle-distance claimer for Noel Meade, has struggled in two outings over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (7) (50/1 -79%)Pebble Island |
50/1(-79%) | (7) Pebble Island 50/1, Ran well to a point on a promising debut when comfortably held in a maiden hurdle here last time; effective at 2m and acts on soft to heavy; form regressed on the flat and may need more time over hurdles. Faded into sixth from the last on hurdling debut over C&D, 15l behind Simple Things then. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (11) (200/1 +0%)Shakita |
200/1(+0%) | (11) Shakita 200/1, Far too free when finishing down the field in a maiden hurdle at Punchestown last time; acts with cut; showed little on the flat and has stamina to prove over hurdles. Low-rated Flat maiden, remote eighth on hurdling debut, tailed off on the second attempt. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (5) (300/1 -200%)John Dixen |
300/1(-200%) | (5) John Dixen 300/1, Pulled up in a juvenile hurdle here last time; may need more time to develop. Never in contention and pulled up before two out on debut at this track last month. |

BEN HUR was strong in the market at Navan last month and showed up well in second behind a ready winner. There should be more to come from him on his second start over flights. Kibris, who was useful on the Flat, disappointed at Galway but could feature in this company. Wackestone finished two and a-quarter lengths behind Ben Hur in third in that aforementioned race at Navan. He gets first-time cheekpieces and looks to be a contender. Simple Things was a promising third on jumping debut over C&D in November and that performance can be viewed in a better light as the two horses in front of her went on to contest a Grade 3 at this track.

Cheekpieces may help WACKESTONE to find the improvement needed to reverse Navan form with obvious danger Ben Hur

11/10(+84%) | (2) Fierce Handay 11/10, Ran to form on handicap debut when fourth, beaten 11l, in a handicap hurdle at Gowran Park last time; effective at 2m with cut and capable of staying further; consistent with a fair mark. Was keen but ran well enough on h'cap debut at Gowran last time; can do better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (3/1 +33%)Kentucky Beach |
3/1(+33%) | (3) Kentucky Beach 3/1, Went clear and ran to form but was ridden a bit too aggressively when beaten a neck off 106 at Gowran Park last time; effective at 2m and suited by soft ground; recent form looks strong and mark appears generous. Just denied on h'cap debut at Gowran last time; 3lb higher but a big player again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (15) (14/1 +30%)Kinturk Nelson |
14/1(+30%) | (15) Kinturk Nelson 14/1, Back to form when down in trip but well beaten in a maiden hurdle here last time; trainer in form; effective from 2m to 2m6f and suited by cut; inconsistent yet has a fair opening mark on best form. Best of four hurdle runs came over C&D on return; likely to do better on h'cap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

14/1(+0%) | (6) Dollar Nolimit 14/1, Finished third, beaten 16l, in a novice hurdle at Punchestown last time; absent for a lengthy spell since; effective from 2m to 2½m and acts on heavy to yielding ground; consistent but needs to prove ability remains after the layoff. Placed in bumpers and maiden h'dles for former yards but a long absence to overcome. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (16/1 +20%)Krabat |
16/1(+20%) | (1) Krabat 16/1, May have found the ground a bit quick when comfortably held in a handicap chase at Ballinrobe last time; has dropped a long way in weights and generally consistent; interesting Chase winner is 0-21 over hurdles and needs to return to best form to score. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (13) (11/2 +31%)Driveonwill |
11/2(+31%) | (13) Driveonwill 11/2, May have found the ground too quick when well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Punchestown last time; effective from 2½–3m and suited by cut; this may prove a sharp enough test. Beaten fav' in last three handicaps and needs to find more back from a break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (17) (66/1 -100%)Kilt |
66/1(-100%) | (17) Kilt 66/1, Poorly placed but never threatened when finishing down the field in a handicap hurdle at Thurles last time; a 1m flat winner in the UK, suited by a sound surface and stays 2m over hurdles; worth another chance in handicaps. Flat winner has been well beaten in three maidens and a handicap so needs much more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (10) (14/1 -100%)Hillstar Blues |
14/1(-100%) | (10) Hillstar Blues 14/1, Improved under a positive ride to land a handicap by a short-head off 92 at Thurles last time; effective at 2m with a fair mark and still a live threat. Narrow Thurles h'cap winner last time; 7lb rise demands more but in the mix again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (8) (33/1 -175%)Saunton Surf |
33/1(-175%) | (8) Saunton Surf 33/1, Ran to form when fourth, beaten 8½l, in a handicap hurdle at Wincanton last time; returning from a long layoff; effective over 2½–3m but may find this trip inadequate on stable debut. UK bumper winner has run well enough in defeat over hurdles at times; check the market. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (5) (10/1 -25%)The Man's Room |
10/1(-25%) | (5) The Man's Room 10/1, Had every chance but ran below form up in grade when well beaten in an auction hurdle at Listowel last time; returning from a short break; effective between 2m and 2½m and handles most conditions, though form is inconsistent. Twice second in maiden hurdles but was poor in cheekpieces last time; could rebound. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (19) (100/1 -52%)Miss Bella Vista |
100/1(-52%) | (19) Miss Bella Vista 100/1, Made mistakes, was outpaced and never threatened when down the field in a maiden hurdle here last time; returning from a short break; effective at 2m but likely to need more time. Well beaten in three maidens up to 2m4f; not easy to fancy from 7lb out of the handicap. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (9) (66/1 -32%)Getaways Charm |
66/1(-32%) | (9) Getaways Charm 66/1, Outpaced and disappointing on handicap debut when finishing down the field in a handicap hurdle at Punchestown last time; tongue-tie on for the first time; off a short break; best efforts have been at 2m and acts on any ground; yet to build on promising debut. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (7) (40/1 -150%)Shudawudacuddagh |
40/1(-150%) | (7) Shudawudacuddagh 40/1, Outpaced and disappointing on handicap debut when well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Sligo last time; effective at 2m and handles good ground; fair mark on debut form but must prove effective with softer going. Sligo maiden hurdle winner was poor in a handicap next time; questions back from a break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (12) (66/1 -32%)Speakasyoufind |
66/1(-32%) | (12) Speakasyoufind 66/1, Outpaced and looked in need of further when well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Clonmel last time; usually held up; effective between 2m and 2¼m; needs a return to a longer trip. Soundly beaten in three handicaps but is likely capable of better so not ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (25/1 -150%)Mon Coeur |
25/1(-150%) | (4) Mon Coeur 25/1, Did not find much when finishing down the field in a handicap at Galway on his latest start; flat and bumper winner; unexposed in this sphere; mark potentially lenient; very interesting. Flat form dipped when last seen but still rated 80; some decent maiden h'dle runs; chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (18) (28/1 +15%)Simpson's Paradox |
28/1(+15%) | (18) Simpson's Paradox 28/1, Never threatened when down the field in a maiden hurdle at Punchestown last time; effective around 1m and handles soft ground; out of form in both codes recently. Regressive Flat winner showed a glimpse of ability in three maiden hdls; needs more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (16) (66/1 -164%)Catch Fire |
66/1(-164%) | (16) Catch Fire 66/1, Keen and made mistakes before not finding much when down the field in a maiden hurdle at Down Royal last time; should be effective from 2m to 2m4f; flat form suggests capability but opening mark looks tough. French Flat winner has been well beaten in two completed hurdle runs and needs much more. |

FIERCE HANDAY is a lightly-raced sort who was a fair fourth in a higher grade at Gowran Park. The horse in fifth came out and scored at Thurles towards the end of November, so Fierce Handay is threatening off an unchanged mark. Kentucky Beach attempted to make all at Gowran Park, but went down by a neck after being collared on the run-in. He relishes the mud flying and has a shot at compensation off 3lb higher. Hillstar Blues won by a short head on better ground at Thurles last month. The handicapper gave him 7lb and he is up in class, but he still appears one of the more likely contenders.

KENTUCKY BEACH could do with jumping better than on return at Gowran last time when just denied but can handle a 3lb rise to score.

1st (1) (10/3 +26%)Bally Free |
10/3(+26%) | (1) Bally Free 10/3, The yard has won two of the last ten renewals of this race. Showed a very promising debut when fourth, beaten 12l, in a maiden hurdle at Punchestown last time. Effective over 2 3/4m, acts on heavy ground, and as a point winner, has more to offer for a top yard. Point winner was 4th in a maiden hurdle on return; improve from that; one to consider. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) (12/1 -118%)Melbourne Shamrock |
12/1(-118%) | (8) Melbourne Shamrock 12/1, Improved for debut experience when fourth, beaten 13l, in a novice hurdle at Thurles last time. Trainer in good form. Effective over 2 3/4m and acts on soft ground. Progressing and should be competitive. Made a solid return in a Thurles novice last month; has to build on that. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

4/5(+64%) | (9) Porthill 4/5, The yard won this last year. Finished well on a promising debut when third, beaten 2l, in a bumper at Wexford. Significant improvement likely now hurdling over further; should go well. Bumper 3rd; big step up in trip for hurdles debut but commands major respect nonetheless. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (16/1 +36%)Juke Hill |
16/1(+36%) | (7) Juke Hill 16/1, From a yard that has won two of the last ten renewals. Showed promise on debut when second, beaten 18l, in a maiden hurdle at Down Royal. Effective over 2 3/4m and acts on good ground. Likely to improve with the longer trip expected to suit. Well beaten second in a Down Royal maiden hurdle on rules debut; has to improve plenty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (40/1 +20%)Banter At The Bar |
40/1(+20%) | (2) Banter At The Bar 40/1, Improved from debut when well beaten in a maiden hurdle at Punchestown last time. Effective over 2 3/4m and acts on heavy ground. Needs more but the longer trip should suit based on point form. Soundly beaten in two maiden hurdles; cheekpieces retained but others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (11) (150/1 -275%)Ersudaly |
150/1(-275%) | (11) Ersudaly 150/1, Green and made mistakes but showed minor promise on debut when comfortably held in a maiden hurdle at Tramore last time. Effective over 2m5f and acts on soft ground. Debut form has been franked at Graded level and could progress. Soundly beaten in a Tramore maiden hurdle recently and has to improve loads on that. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (18/1 -157%)Drop A Threat |
18/1(-157%) | (5) Drop A Threat 18/1, The yard won this last year. Raced keenly and probably needed the outing when well beaten in a bumper here last time. Returning from a long layoff with a tongue-tie fitted for the first time and has plenty to do. Point winner was tailed-off in a bumper here in January; is the stable second-string. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (4) (300/1 -100%)Daws Cross |
300/1(-100%) | (4) Daws Cross 300/1, Ran poorly and finished down the field in a maiden hurdle at Cork most recently. Yet to find suitable conditions and has shown little so far. Has been poor in two maiden hurdles for former yard and can only be watched on return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (10) (125/1 -279%)Elsa Bay |
125/1(-279%) | (10) Elsa Bay 125/1, Ground likely too testing when well beaten in a maiden hurdle here last time. Effective over 2 1/2m and may improve with further in time. Ran respectably in a 2m4f maiden here last time but is likely to find several too strong. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (300/1 -100%)Cornaroya Rocco |
300/1(-100%) | (3) Cornaroya Rocco 300/1, Outpaced and poor debut when well beaten in a 4yo bumper at Galway on only start. Returning from a break and has plenty to prove. Tailed-off on debut in a Galway bumper and can only be watched on hurdles bow. |

I AM LORENZO can open his account on his second start for Paul Nolan. Runner-up on two occasions for Gavin Cromwell, the Milan gelding filled the same position when sent off market leader on his stable debut at Clonmel last month. With an official rating of 127, the six-year-old sets a fair standard in a race of this nature and stepping up to 3m for the first time could also bring about further improvement. Point-to-point winner Bally Free, who shaped with plenty of encouragement when fourth on his hurdling debut at Punchestown recently, shouldn't be far away. Porthill was third on his sole start under Rules and is almost certainly capable of much better.

Though a beaten favourite at Clonmel on return, I AM LORENZO can use his hurdling experience to good effect and get off the mark

13/8(+41%) | (2) Cowper Hall 13/8, Yard won this last year. Ran to form when fourth, beaten 6l, in a handicap hurdle at Thurles latest. Effective at 2m and handles heavy and good ground; in form and another good run looks likely. Only 2l behind Gino Bella, rider's claim may give him an edge, the form has been franked. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (9/2 +31%)Gino Bella |
9/2(+31%) | (3) Gino Bella 9/2, Every chance and ran to form behind race-fit rivals when beaten 4l off 95 at Thurles last time. Effective over 2–2¼m; running into form and should benefit from the latest outing. Point winner, third placing at Thurles has been advertised by the winner with Cork success. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (17) (18/1 +45%)Marine Ranger |
18/1(+45%) | (17) Marine Ranger 18/1, Found little when down the field in a handicap hurdle at Tramore most recently. Effective at 2m but needs plenty more and stamina remains unproven. First bumper run last year seemed promising, no sign of winning potential over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (16) (10/1 -54%)Destivelle |
10/1(-54%) | (16) Destivelle 10/1, Scored by 6l off 73 at Thurles three starts back. Too much to do when third, beaten 2l off 82 last time, in a race dominated from the front. Effective at 2m, acts on soft and good ground, and back in form. Winner and twice placed from her last four starts, close up in third at Clonmel last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (11) (50/1 -150%)Hello Johnjoe |
50/1(-150%) | (11) Hello Johnjoe 50/1, Improved but was comfortably held in a maiden hurdle at Tramore last time. Acts on soft ground; point form suggests further than 2m will suit though yet to prove up to her opening mark. Twice placed in points, not much over hurdles so far but still early days, may improve. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

40/1(+39%) | (15) Shanroe Nelson 40/1, Outpaced and never threatened when down the field in a handicap hurdle at Cork most recently. Effective over 2–2½m but yet to prove capable off this mark. Ordinary form in maidens, big price when down the field on recent handicap debut at Cork. |

16/1(-45%) | (1) Boola Times 16/1, Outpaced and produced a poor return when down the field in a handicap at Navan most recently; returns after a short break. Effective over 2–2½m, acts on good and soft ground, and in fair form. In rear in a Flat handicap last time, better judged on his previous Gowran hurdles run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (20) (12/1 +25%)Rajjnatin |
12/1(+25%) | (20) Rajjnatin 12/1, Ran to form but was well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Clonmel last time. Effective at 2½m and needs to build on that latest improvement. Punchestown sixth was a small step in the right direction, faded from the last at Clonmel. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (4) (16/1 +11%)Schiehallion |
16/1(+11%) | (4) Schiehallion 16/1, Found the ground too soft when down the field in a handicap hurdle at Down Royal most recently. Was in good form prior; suited by 3m on a sound surface. Generally consistent maiden who may struggle in testing conditions. Has shown his best form at Down Royal, questions to answer after a poor run at that venue. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (9/2 0%)That's Me Finished |
9/2(0%) | (5) That's Me Finished 9/2, Improved again up in trip when landing a handicap by 2l off 87 at Punchestown last time. Returns from a long layoff; effective over 2½–3m and suited by cut in the ground; progressive. Progressive in winning his final two races last season five months apart, merits respect. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (19) (10/1 +44%)Stormy Jenn |
10/1(+44%) | (19) Stormy Jenn 10/1, Ran to form when 9¼l third in a handicap hurdle at Navan most recently. Effective at 2m, acts on soft and good ground; inconsistent and still a maiden over hurdles. Flat winner, one of her best hurdling efforts when third at Navan on latest, place chance. |

|PU| (9) (10/1 +64%)Mullanour |
10/1(+64%) | (9) Mullanour 10/1, Did plenty early and was well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Tramore last time. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (13) (17/2 +61%)Fourcardrun |
17/2(+61%) | (13) Fourcardrun 17/2, Needed the run when down the field in a handicap hurdle at Tipperary last time. Effective at 2m and acts on soft ground; opening mark demands more. Failed to make much impact at Tipperary in his first handicap, may be capable of better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (14) (22/1 +56%)Robindevidastar |
22/1(+56%) | (14) Robindevidastar 22/1, Found nothing when well beaten in a handicap hurdle here last time. Effective over 2–2½m and acts on any going; an unreliable veteran. Three-time hurdles winner, may have needed his run here last month after a break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (18) (33/1 +67%)Mister Persistence |
33/1(+67%) | (18) Mister Persistence 33/1, Fell in a handicap hurdle at Cork last time just before race developed. Effective at 2½m but appears regressive. Weak overall form, held a midfield position when falling four out at Cork last Sunday. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (12) (50/1 +24%)Euro Maker |
50/1(+24%) | (12) Euro Maker 50/1, Never threatened when down the field in a maiden hurdle at Navan most recently. Effective at 2m and acts on good ground; stamina and ground both potential concerns on handicap debut. Three undistinguished runs in maidens, hard to assess but not an obvious contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (50/1 +50%)Falcon Park |
50/1(+50%) | (7) Falcon Park 50/1, Never threatened when well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Limerick last time. Suited by 2m with some cut; the handicapper is easing but form remains poor. Won consecutive hurdle races for Paul Hennessy last winter, yet to hit form for this yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (66/1 -136%)Mercurial Sea |
66/1(-136%) | (6) Mercurial Sea 66/1, Outpaced and never threatened when down the field in a maiden hurdle here most recently. Effective at 2m, acts on heavy and good ground, and could progress now handicapping. Tailed off in a C&D maiden hurdle last time, signs of ability in bumpers. |

With the Gavin Cromwell yard back among the winners, COWPER HALL has to be a leading contender. Runner-up at Navan on his penultimate start, he finished fourth at Thurles subsequently and is entitled to improve again. Gino Bella, who was a place in front of Cowper Hall last time, also has every chance, while others to note are Teds Corner and That's Me Finished.

The 7lb claimed by Eoin Staples may enable Thurles fourth COWPER HALL to reverse form with third-placed Gino Bella

10/1(+50%) | (18) Run For Cover 10/1, Needed the run when down the field in a Punchestown handicap hurdle last time; usually held up; effective at around 2 1/2m but struggling in handicaps. First handicap run last season was reasonably promising, not as good in two starts since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (12) (3/1 +65%)Sean Mc |
3/1(+65%) | (12) Sean Mc 3/1, Needed the run but ran to form on handicap debut when well beaten in a Punchestown hurdle last time; effective at 2m and handles cut; needs to find more to defy this opening mark. Had plenty of horses behind when eighth at Punchestown in his first handicap, may improve. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (7/2 +53%)My Good Pal |
7/2(+53%) | (5) My Good Pal 7/2, Travelled well and ran to form when second beaten 7l in a Punchestown handicap hurdle last time; effective around 2 1/2m and acts on any ground; generally in good form. Placed on his last two starts at Punchestown for this rider, should be in the mix again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (28/1 -40%)Deanery Charlie |
28/1(-40%) | (8) Deanery Charlie 28/1, Outpaced and improved late without threatening when down the field in a Tramore maiden hurdle last time; effective at 2m and handles cut; looks suited to low-grade handicaps and could appreciate further. In a leading stable, very hard to discern any positives from his form in maiden hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (10) (25/1 +24%)Sock It To Me |
25/1(+24%) | (10) Sock It To Me 25/1, Outpaced and never threatened when down the field in a maiden hurdle here last time; usually held up; effective at 2m on heavy ground; could improve for a longer trip in handicaps. Three-figure odds and down the field in three maidens last month, chance is not obvious. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (8/1 -78%)Mount Shenshan |
8/1(-78%) | (3) Mount Shenshan 8/1, Ran to form when second beaten 6 1/2l in a beginners' chase at Tramore last time; winner off 3lb lower in winter; in good form over fences; very interesting. Twice placed over fences in recent months, won over hurdles for this rider last season. |

10/1(+17%) | (7) Another Girl 10/1, Pulled up in a Gowran Park handicap hurdle last time; hood applied first time; consistent at 2–2 1/2m on good ground; had been in good form but conditions may again pose a concern. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (14) (50/1 +24%)Catchyoulater |
50/1(+24%) | (14) Catchyoulater 50/1, Outclassed when down the field in a Naas maiden hurdle last time; cheekpieces on for the first time; absent for a lengthy period; effective around 2 1/2m but yet to prove up to this opening mark. 10/1(-25%) | (1) Couldntmakeitup 10/1, Keen and made mistakes when fourth beaten 22l in a handicap hurdle at Punchestown last time; probably unsuited by the drop in trip but effective over 2 1/2–3m; had been in fair form previously. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (15) (40/1 -43%)Clever Court |
40/1(-43%) | (15) Clever Court 40/1, Outpaced and never threatened when down the field in a Kilbeggan maiden hurdle last time; returns from a short break; effective at 2m but has yet to prove up to this mark. Weak form in three maidens, hard to fancy though his trainer is doing well in this series. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (9) (22/1 -214%)Koolio Kate |
22/1(-214%) | (9) Koolio Kate 22/1, Showed some improvement when fourth beaten 19l in a maiden hurdle at Limerick last time; effective over about 2 1/4m on heavy ground; could progress now handicapping and stepping up in trip. Some encouragement from her fourth placing in a maiden at Limerick on seasonal debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (21) (33/1 +0%)Mastermind |
33/1(+0%) | (21) Mastermind 33/1, Did too much too soon and needed the run when down the field in a Kilbeggan handicap chase last time; returning from a break and veteran has been in poor form for some time. Both wins were for Charles O'Brien early in career, some merit in last season's chase form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
15th (20) (12/1 +25%)Milesfromthehonk |
12/1(+25%) | (20) Milesfromthehonk 12/1, Pulled up in a Cork handicap hurdle last time; returning from a break and yet to find suitable conditions; has shown only poor form to date. Weak form in maidens, pulled up in first handicap, in a top yard, needs transformation. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
16th (11) (40/1 -21%)Lejolicoeur Du Mou |
40/1(-21%) | (11) Lejolicoeur Du Mou 40/1, Unseated rider in a Punchestown maiden hurdle last time when beaten; usually held up; effective at 2m and handles cut; may improve for a step up in trip. No sign of worthwhile form, unseated at the last on latest after trailing throughout. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
17th (19) (7/1 +50%)Massabielle |
7/1(+50%) | (19) Massabielle 7/1, Pulled up in a Punchestown handicap hurdle last time; visor on for the first time; returns from a short break; effective around 2 1/2m on good ground but regressive this year. Attracted some support at Punchestown only to be pulled up, perhaps unwise to rule out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
18th (17) (20/1 -150%)Light Her Up |
20/1(-150%) | (17) Light Her Up 20/1, Outpaced and looked in need of a stiffer test when comfortably held in a Thurles handicap hurdle last time; effective at 2m but has yet to match her bumper form and may want further. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (40/1 -100%)Promo Queen |
40/1(-100%) | (6) Promo Queen 40/1, Again well below form when down the field in a Galway handicap last time; effective 7–10f with cut; in moderate form in both codes. A former Curragh nursery winner, fit from the Flat, relatively unexposed over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (16) (40/1 -21%)Keaner's Boy |
40/1(-21%) | (16) Keaner's Boy 40/1, Pulled up in a maiden hurdle at Sligo last time; returns from a short break; effective at 2m but yet to show much in bumpers or over hurdles. No sign of worthwhile form in bumpers or maiden hurdles, impossible to make a case for him. |

Recent Punchestown runner-up MY GOOD PAL can step up a place. Despite being beaten seven lengths at the finish, the son of Mount Nelson was following up a solid effort when reaching the frame at the same circuit. With the Gavin Cromwell yard emerging from an untypically quiet spell, it would be no surprise to see this six-year-old take another step forward. A beaten favourite when second over fences at Tramore last month, Mount Shenshan has to be respected. She is reunited with Charlie Mullins, who was on board for her only previous success. Koolio Kate also holds claims in an open contest.

Not many of these are in form and MY GOOD PAL (nap) can go one better after finishing second in a 21-runner contest last time

6/1(-140%) | (2) Ash Hobbs 6/1, Made a highly promising debut when winning a maiden at Ballycahane by 9l; returning from a long layoff but should be in the mix for top yard on rules debut. Point winner but the runner-up is rated only 97 over hurdles; of interest on rules debut. |

200/1(+0%) | (8) Certosa 200/1, Outpaced and made a modest effort when well beaten in a maiden hurdle at Sligo last time; off a short break and may need further than 2m. Well beaten in a bumper and maiden hurdle so is best watched on debut for a new yard. |

9/2(-125%) | (3) Babyburn 9/2, Yard won this last year; 92,000 euros Crystal Ocean filly; half-sister to Ballyburn, top-class at 20f; top trainer; likely type. Ballyburn's sister so has to be respected on debut, more so if strong in the market. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

18/1(-29%) | (9) Claudel 18/1, 26,000 euros Doctor Dino filly; dam was smart at 11f; looks an unlikely winner on debut. Is by the leading French NH sire; top rider booked so one to consider on debut. |

125/1(-213%) | (6) Better Be Elusive 125/1, Elusive Pimpernel filly; half-sister to He's Gorgeous, fair at 20f. By a decent sire and from a solid damline but likely to be better for this run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (13) (50/1 -25%)Let's Go Forez |
50/1(-25%) | (13) Let's Go Forez 50/1, 10,000 euros breeze-up purchase by It's Gino; bred to handle cut but probably best watched. By a leading French sire; cost Eur10,000 as a 2yo; yard has had debut winners; considered. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (11) (150/1 -88%)Hunskelper |
150/1(-88%) | (11) Hunskelper 150/1, Failed to build on debut when down the field in a mares' bumper at Galway; effective at 2m; related to bumper winners but struggling so far. Some promise on debut but was tailed off on return at Galway; can only be watched for now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

|PU| (12) (66/1 -65%)Isitraininginparis |
66/1(-65%) | (12) Isitraininginparis 66/1, Made mistakes and ran a modest race when well beaten in a maiden hurdle at Navan on only start; has a lot to find. Never threatened in a maiden hurdle; should do better now and the market can tell more. |

In a race where a couple of debutants catch the eye, the each-way value could lie with the once-raced BROSNA SHINE. Nicely supported when third in the Goffs Defender Bumper at the Punchestown Festival, the Sonny Carey-trained daughter of No Risk At All sets a fair standard. Hailing from a smaller operation, she could easily be sent off at a backable price, despite her solid form. The Willie Mullins-trained newcomer Babyburn is an obvious contender. With plenty of bumper winners in her pedigree, the half-sister to Ballyburn is bred for the job. Point-to-point winner Ash Hobbs must also hold strong claims on her first start under Rules.

There are plenty of interesting debutants, none more so than Ballyburn's half-sister BABYBURN. She is by a good young sire and can score
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
