13:30 Ffos Las Maiden Hurdle (Class 4) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Although TEDLEY wasn't quite up to class 2 company when fourth at Warwick last month, his previous runner-up effort here in December sets a fair standard. The Sixties Icon gelding rates the one to beat on that evidence, with his main threat looking to be I See The Sea. Despite some less than fluent jumping, the five-year-old has performed with credit in maiden contests at Bangor and Ludlow. Any market support for multiple point-to-point winner Gouazec on his Rules bow could well be worth noting.

TEDLEY was somewhat disappointing last time but had run a cracker under this pilot here previously and is taken to get off the mark. I See The Sea and Willsburg rate the principal dangers.

Preference is for I SEE THE SEA, who wasn't beaten far on his first two hurdling starts and should still have a bigger run in him.

14:00 Ffos Las Handicap Hurdle (Class 4) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Sawpit Sienna did well to hold on when all out at Taunton last month after looking to make her move early. A 6lb rise in the ratings shouldn't prevent another bold bid from Samuel Drinkwater's mare, but she's likely to be priced accordingly. With that in mind, it may be worth taking a punt on HEURE DE GLOIRE, who shaped encouragingly when fourth at Uttoxeter on Saturday. Ellis Collier now gets to claim a handy 7lb, which should be a huge help to the seven-year-old. Pageant Material also warrants a second look.

A progressive handicapper on the Flat, SPICED RUM has shown encouragement in her 2 starts over hurdles, with the form of her fourth at Kempton last time working out very well (the first 3 all successful next time). She can open her hurdles account as she goes handicapping, with last-time-out winner Sawpit Sienna feared most, ahead of Heure de Gloire.

The most interesting runner is heavy-ground Flat winner SPICED RUM (nap), who has made a promising start to her hurdling career.

14:30 Ffos Las Handicap Hurdle (Class 4) 24f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

TUNE IN A BOX had little difficulty in defying a 9lb rise in the ratings at Wetherby recently and a 7lb penalty in this contest is effectively negated by Cameron Iles' claim. Tom Lacey's charge is hard to oppose, with a quick turnaround looking the only potential stumbling block. Balkardy has posted a string of runner-up efforts this season and the seven-year-old may have to play second fiddle once more, with Bobo Mac rated next best.

Tom Lacey's progressive novice TUNE IN A BOX looks more than capable of maintaining his unbeaten record in handicaps, a 7 lb penalty for last week's Wetherby success appealing as more than manageable given his ongoing improvement. Balkardy may find one too good for the fifth start in succession, with Slip Road also considered having proven he retains ability last time.

It's hard to get away from TUNE IN A BOX, who began his handicap career with two emphatic wins and is probably still improving.

15:00 Ffos Las Handicap Chase (Class 4) 24f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

The unexposed PIMLICO POINT has been nudged up just 3lb after finishing an admirable second on his chasing bow over 3m at Exeter in November and, having his second run since wind surgery, this may be the best time to catch him. Regarde rates the main danger for the in-form Jamie Snowden team. He wasn't disgraced when finishing third at Newcastle most recently and off the same mark, he should be able to make his presence felt. Lubeat Foras finds himself in calmer waters than when finishing sixth at Newbury last time and, dropped 5lb in the ratings, he is taken to fill the frame.

A winning pointer, PIMLICO POINT improved on his hurdles form at the first attempt sent chasing when runner-up at Exeter in November, staying on well, and he can build on that effort to go one better. Regarde has taken well to chasing this season and is respected, with Pachacuti completing the shortlist.

On the one-year anniversary of his hurdles win off a higher mark, GINGERBRED may well be the answer. Pimlico Point is feared most.

15:30 Ffos Las Handicap Chase (Class 5) 19f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

This looks to be a good opportunity for the largely consistent CAST'S TASHA to regain the winning thread. Ben Clarke's charge ran with credit when finishing second over an extended 2m5f at Exeter on New Year's Day over hurdles and, upped just 1lb on her chasing bow, she may take some stopping. Penny Mallow should be a lot happier returning to a left-handed course after jumping left at Hereford on her most recent start and she rates the main danger to the selection. Despite her largely inconsistent profile, Lady Tremaine does have some form that would entitle her to at least hit the frame.

This is best left to CAST'S TASHA, who arrives in fine form over hurdles and Ben Clarke's mare should make at least as good a chaser. Santa Clarita disappointed over hurdles last time, but she can give the selection most to think about from a much-reduced mark back chasing, with veteran Penny Mallow taken to fill out third dropping into class 5 company for the first time in this sphere.

By far the most appealing option in this uncompetitive mares' chase is CAST'S TASHA, who has been in good form over hurdles.

GAMBIE TIEP can be keen in his races, which has sometimes been his undoing. However, the gelding has the ability to lead this lot a merry dance if he is on song and, with the drop in trip in his favour, he is readily suggested as the one to be with. Templier is solid at this sort of level and can make sure the selection doesn't have things all his own way, while Boston Joe is also capable of going close back over this distance.

Despite jumping left (often markedly so) BOSTON JOE shaped as if still in good form when third at Wincanton 3 weeks ago and, with this drop in trip rating a likely plus, he could be worth siding with to get back on track with forecast conditions holding no fears. Veteran C&D winner Templier and Gambie Tiep, both of whom return from short breaks, can emerge as the chief threats, with Ballymagee another to keep an eye on.

The C&D winners BOSTON JOE and Templier both have solid claims back here. Several others have possibilities in an open affair.

Shaped as if still in top form when fourth at Uttoxeter (15.8f, heavy) last time so plenty to like returning from a short break.
Notable connections; has shown positive signs the last twice; shortlisted.

16:30 Ffos Las Handicap Hurdle (Class 5) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

MUMBLES impressed when scoring by 16 lengths at Chepstow eight days ago and, with further progression expected, he is hard to oppose under a 7lb penalty. Smart Casual has put two solid efforts together and can make a fist of things for Joe Tickle and Micheal Nolan, while Daany arrives in good heart and he cannot be ruled out either.

MUMBLES rewarded favourite backers with a 16-length success at Chepstow 8 days ago and, provided this doesn't come too soon, Evan Williams' 6-y-o is fancied to double his tally at the expense of Smart Casual, who shaped as if still in top form when fourth at Uttoxeter just under 6 weeks ago. Daany has his quirks but is doing little wrong at present so can battle out minor honours with handicap-debutant Another Lord.

Provided the drop back in trip doesn't have a negative effect, MUMBLES should win again. Smart Casual is feared most.
