1st (1) (11/4 +31%)River Voyage |
11/4(+31%) | (1) River Voyage 11/4, Pulled up in a handicap chase at Uttoxeter last time; off a short break; effective over 3m and acts on any ground. Has a bit to prove as a chaser. Well treated on his hurdling best but hasn't convinced in four previous chase runs. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (11/1 +31%)Steal The Moves |
11/1(+31%) | (7) Steal The Moves 11/1, Pulled up in a handicap chase at Taunton last time; wears cheekpieces for the first time; effective up to 3m and acts on heavy and good ground. A bounce back is needed. Hasn't had a lot of racing and some hopes for a revival with cheekpieces tried. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (6/4 +20%)River Run Free |
6/4(+20%) | (3) River Run Free 6/4, Returned to form back at favoured venue landing a handicap by 2 1/2l off a 5lb lower mark at Leicester last time; effective 2m4f-2m6f, acts on Hy and GS; unreliable and 5lb higher now. 3-7 over fences; clear form claims but he was pulled up on his previous visit here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (10/1 +17%)Benny Baloo |
10/1(+17%) | (6) Benny Baloo 10/1, Again below form back hurdling when tried in cheekpieces and well beaten in a handicap hurdle here last time; effective up to 3m on soft and good ground. Has a bit to find back over fences. Winning chaser who has dropped to a good mark but with questions to answer now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (11/2 -120%)Esperti |
11/2(-120%) | (4) Esperti 11/2, Improved again, strong at finish landing a handicap by 1/2l off a 3lb lower mark at Fontwell last time; usually held up; off a short-break; effective 3m-3m2f, acts on any; may land hat-trick in current mood. Fontwell winner last time and two previous wins came here on this sort of surface. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (13/2 -18%)Haut Folin |
13/2(-18%) | (2) Haut Folin 13/2, Step back in right direction 12l third in a handicap chase at Ludlow most recent run; effective 3m, acts with cut; stable back in form and could have a say. At least completed at Ludlow and could build on that with yard having winners again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (40/1 -150%)Jaunty Viking |
40/1(-150%) | (5) Jaunty Viking 40/1, Again below his hurdles level when comfortably held in a handicap chase here last time; off a short break; effective over 2m-2m6f and acts on any ground. Yet to convince as a chaser. Following a long absence, his belated switch to fences has not gone well. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

River Run Free put his pulled-up effort behind him when returning to winning ways at Leicester last month and commands respect, but the hat-trick seeking ESPERTI makes more appeal. David Rees' charge supplemented his C&D success when victorious over 3m2f at Fontwell on Boxing Day and is just 3lb higher. With Sean Bowen back in the plate, he will prove tough to beat. Haut Folin can win the race for third.

With winning form at this track in the mud and after a welcome completion at Ludlow, HAUT FOLIN appeals most.

1st (5) (5/4 +33%)Shade Of Winter |
5/4(+33%) | (5) Shade Of Winter 5/4, Returned to form back on testing ground when second beaten 2l in a handicap hurdle here latest; effective 2m-2m4f on S; looks capable off this mark. Beaten by an improving favourite in handicap company here last time (heavy). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (80/1 -264%)Minella Mission |
80/1(-264%) | (4) Minella Mission 80/1, Had a poor rules debut when well beaten in a maiden hurdle at Cheltenham latest; trainer in form and off a short break; effective at 3m in points and may do better when handicapping. In trouble a long way out when tailed off in a Cheltenham maiden on New Year's Day. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (3/1 -50%)Jamada |
3/1(-50%) | (1) Jamada 3/1, Ran to form when second, beaten 5l, in a maiden hurdle at Lingfield latest; effective around 2m and acts on soft and good ground; holds a chance in this. It was a useful 2m maiden (soft) in which he ran second at Lingfield; every chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (20/1 -208%)Makinbecon |
20/1(-208%) | (3) Makinbecon 20/1, Ran to form when second, beaten 4l, in a maiden point at Ballysteen latest; returning from a long layoff; effective at 3m in points and brings potential to rules. Runner-up in two points, the latest last April; wouldn't read much into his Supreme entry. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (2) (15/8 +38%)Kara Sacre |
15/8(+38%) | (2) Kara Sacre 15/8, Bit keen and didn't get home when fourth beaten 28l in a maiden hurdle at Ludlow latest; effective around 2m-2m4f on a sound surface, handled heavy in points; may do yet do better for new suddenly in-form yard. Ludlow race was won by a potential top-notcher and this 6yo should improve. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Jamada has shown ability in his three starts over the smaller obstacles, most recently finishing second at Lingfield, and he has to be taken seriously. Similar comments apply to Kara Sacre, but they both might be up against it with SHADE OF WINTER. The six-year-old produced an improved display when only finding one too good over track and trip last time in handicap company and this might be his day in the sun.

This may go to SHADE OF WINTER who has performed well behind a few good horses in his career.

1st (1) (1/1 +9%)Harbour Island |
1/1(+9%) | (1) Harbour Island 1/1, Ran to form when winning a maiden hurdle at Taunton by 2 1/4l last time, finishing strongly when stepped up in trip. Effective from 2m to 2m3f and acts on soft and good to soft. Back on track latest and more to come at this sort of trip. Two bumper wins and added a Taunton maiden; scopey individual with more to offer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (11/10 +8%)Rathkenny |
11/10(+8%) | (2) Rathkenny 11/10, Improved to get off the mark over hurdles when winning a maiden hurdle at Doncaster by 3l last time. Effective from 2m to 2m4f and acts on heavy and good to soft. A big, scopey, athletic future chaser with a lot more to come. Made all at Doncaster (2m3f, soft) and the runner-up is useful; penalised but every chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (7/1 +18%)Soldier For Glory |
7/1(+18%) | (3) Soldier For Glory 7/1, Was running well when unseating three out in a point at Punchestown on his only previous start. This trip is likely to suit on his rules debut, although he faces two pretty useful rivals. Competitive when unseating three out in an Irish point 12 months ago (heavy). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (66/1 -65%)Slack Alice |
66/1(-65%) | (4) Slack Alice 66/1, Was a bit below form when 12l third in a handicap at Southwell on the Flat most recently. Effective up to 16f on the Flat and has plenty to prove now returning to hurdles. Placed in one bumper; tailed off in a maiden hurdle and her Flat form is uninspiring. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

This is likely to prove a match between RATHKENNY and Harbour Island, with preference for the former after getting off the mark at the second time of asking over timber at Doncaster last month. Neil Mulholland's bumper winner relished the step up in distance that day and can take another step forward to strike. Although Harbour Island won't make it easy judged on his Taunton success, he's the clear threat ahead of Soldier For Glory.

It's a tough call between RATHKENNY and Harbour Island, both good winners of their recent maidens and with the scope to do better.

Improver for handicaps; 7lb well in for last week's conditionals' win (2m5f, heavy).. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (4/1 -14%)Fresh Speculation |
4/1(-14%) | (1) Fresh Speculation 4/1, Improved again when landing a handicap by 1/4l off a 6lb lower mark here last time; effective over 2m4f-2m7f and acts on heavy and good to soft; respected in his hat-trick bid. 2-3 over this C&D, including a win last time (heavy); weighted up to his peak RPRs now.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (5/1 -122%)El Gavilan |
5/1(-122%) | (3) El Gavilan 5/1, Went clear and idled, improving again when landing a handicap by 2l off a 7lb lower mark here last time; effective at 2m and acts on heavy and good; should remain competitive off his new mark. Heavy-ground 2m winner the last twice; player, albeit up 7lb and untried over 2m4f.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

8/1(-45%) | (6) Ourbrowneyedgirl 8/1, Travelled well and improved when beaten 2l off a 2lb lower mark at Taunton last time; trainer in form; effective over 2m-2m4f and acts with cut; progressing and remains competitive. Travels well in her races; career-best form at Taunton latest, but more needed again.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (11/1 -10%)Carismatic Soldier |
11/1(-10%) | (2) Carismatic Soldier 11/1, Below form when tried in cheekpieces and down the field in a handicap hurdle at Ayr most recently; effective over 2m-2m7f and acts on heavy and soft; consistent until that latest run. Regressive RPRs in handicaps, posting an anonymous effort latest (cheekpieces retained).. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(4) (11/1 +56%)Boyles Hill |
11/1(+56%) | (4) Boyles Hill 11/1, Made mistakes on his hurdles return and was down the field in a handicap hurdle at Chepstow most recently; effective over 2m4f and acts on any ground; his form has tailed off. C&D winner in late 2024 (heavy); back below a winning mark after some heavy defeats.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

ETON MES is unbeaten since entering handicap company and David Pipe's gelding escapes a penalty after winning a conditional jockeys' event at Wincanton on Saturday. He seems to relish testing ground so it wouldn't be a surprise if the five-year-old took another step forward. Fellow hat-trick seekers El Gavilan and Fresh Speculation both command plenty of respect, with the former just edging it out to be the main danger because he might have more to offer upped in trip.

The lack of a penalty puts ETON MES at an advantage over fellow hat-trick seekers Fresh Speculation and El Gavilan.

4/7(+62%) | (1) Morning Mayhem 4/7, Improved, benefitting from strong pace at sharp track landing a handicap by 4 1/4l off a 7lb lower mark at Fakenham last time; trainer in form; effective 2m, acts on heavy and soft; progressive, can go well again. Back to winning ways at Fakenham latest (2m, soft); return to longer track is no issue.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(6) (5/2 +58%)Master Dunraven |
5/2(+58%) | (6) Master Dunraven 5/2, Returned to form on easy ground when beaten 2 1/4l off this mark at Plumpton last time. Effective from 2m to 2m4f, acts on any ground; remains on a competitive mark. Back to form with last month's Plumpton third (2m, soft), though does need to back it up.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (6/1 +14%)Linden Lane |
6/1(+14%) | (2) Linden Lane 6/1, Tired up the hill having tried to go with the winner when beaten 13l into third in a handicap hurdle at Sedgefield on his most recent run. Effective around 2m on a sound surface, not proven further; running back into form. Windsor third two runs back has worked out well; may get the test he needs at this trip.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (8/1 +60%)Timeforarum |
8/1(+60%) | (3) Timeforarum 8/1, Up in trip and may not have stayed when well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Worcester last time. Effective at 2m, acts on soft and good ground; needs more. Sparingly seen since December 2024 win off just 1lb lower (2m, good to soft); respected.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(4) (17/2 -6%)Cumhacht |
17/2(-6%) | (4) Cumhacht 17/2, Travelled but did not find much and was disappointing when well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Windsor last time. Off a short break; effective at 2m, acts on soft and good to firm; a consistent maiden until his latest couple of starts. 0-16, but 322 at Ffos Las including a C&D second here in October; disappointing latest.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (11/1 -57%)Twp Stori |
11/1(-57%) | (5) Twp Stori 11/1, Needed the run back from a break on chase debut when comfortably held in a handicap chase at Southwell last time. Off a short break; effective at 3m-3m2f with cut; now back hurdling and on his last winning mark. Mark and ground fine, return to 2m less so; things haven't gone to plan the last twice.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(7) (33/1 +0%)Bossofthebus |
33/1(+0%) | (7) Bossofthebus 33/1, Below form back up in trip when well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Taunton last time. Effective at around 2m4f and may need some cut; form has tailed off. Jumping frailties again all too evident at Taunton latest (2m3f, heavy); couldn't fancy.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Despite carrying a 7lb penalty for winning at Fakenham last Friday, the handicapper reacted by putting MORNING MAYHEM up the same amount and a reproduction of that display would make him tough to beat. Master Dunraven ran his best race so far over hurdles when third at Plumpton last month and is entitled to build on that display, while Linden Lane completes the shortlist.

Assuming this doesn't come too soon after last week, MORNING MAYHEM can bag another winnable-looking 0-100 ahead of Linden Lane.

(4) (11/8 +8%)El Rojo Grande |
11/8(+8%) | (4) El Rojo Grande 11/8, Improved again off a new mark, showing a good attitude when landing a handicap by 1/2l off a 6lb lower mark at Lingfield last time; effective over 2m-2m4f and acts on heavy and good; the mark still looks workable. Recent hat-trick included a C&D success (heavy); perhaps fortunate to oblige last time.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (2/1 +33%)Storming Nelson |
2/1(+33%) | (3) Storming Nelson 2/1, Confirmed his chase debut level when beaten 4l off this mark at Taunton last time; effective from 2m-2m6f with cut in the ground; has a chance in this and there remains the possibility of more to come. Second in Taunton handicap latest (2m2f, heavy); may appreciate return to longer track.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (4/1 +67%)Dj Pete |
4/1(+67%) | (2) Dj Pete 4/1, Outclassed but ran to form when fourth, beaten 36l in a novice chase at Chepstow last time; effective over 2m-2m4f and acts on soft and good; needs to back up that latest effort now returning to handicaps. Stiff ask in novice company latest; more appealing on strength of November second here.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (13/2 -86%)As Tears Go By |
13/2(-86%) | (1) As Tears Go By 13/2, Best effort since late 2024 when second beaten 7 1/2l in a handicap chase at Fakenham latest; trainer in form; effective 2m-2m4f, acts on any; entitled to come on for return, mark quite attractive. Flattered by recent form figures, though recent Fakenham second has received one boost.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(6) (33/1 -175%)Quinta Brigada |
33/1(-175%) | (6) Quinta Brigada 33/1, Again ran to a poor level when well beaten in a maiden hurdle at Southwell last time; perhaps he will do better now handicapping and switched to chasing. Yet to last home in any bumper or hurdles run; some encouragement on breeding for fences.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

EL ROJO GRANDE competed a hat-trick in a game manner at Lingfield and with Shane Quinlan effectively halving the 6lb rise with his claim, this consistent nine-year-old can extend his winning sequence further. Storming Nelson and As Tears Go By have dropped hints that a return to winning ways could be imminent for either. The latter was probably in need of the run when second at Fakenham after a break and could be the bigger danger with his match fitness topped up.

A good second on his first realistic chasing assignment, STORMING NELSON (nap) might surprise the four-timer seeking El Rojo Grande.

(6) (7/2 +42%)Libre De Choeur |
7/2(+42%) | (6) Libre De Choeur 7/2, Ran to form, just tiring late on up in trip, may not have stayed comfortably held in a handicap hurdle at Warwick last time; effective around 2m5f, acts on Hy and GS; consistent in short career. Has races in him, but he didn't improve as expected for the step up to 3m1f latest.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(7) (7/2 +56%)Stellar Stream |
7/2(+56%) | (7) Stellar Stream 7/2, Mistakes, outpaced, returned to form down in class 11l third in a handicap hurdle here most recent run; trainer in form; effective 3m+, suited by plenty of cut; generous mark if building on recent revival. Winless for two years, and looked hard work when a 10l third over C&D latest (heavy).. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (11/2 -175%)Gold In The Rivers |
11/2(-175%) | (2) Gold In The Rivers 11/2, Idled, returned to form back over hurdles landing a handicap by 2l off a 2lb lower mark at Market Rasen last time; effective 2m4f-3m, suited by cut; can go well off new mark. Value for further when beating Ramo at Market Rasen (2m7f, soft); shortlisted again.. |

(3) (13/2 -30%)Ramo |
13/2(-30%) | (3) Ramo 13/2, Outpaced early, returned to form but too much to do beaten 3 1/2l off this mark at Market Rasen last time; effective 2m4f-3m1f, suited by cut; good mark if building on recent revival and yard hit form. Every chance he could reverse last-time Market Rasen form with Gold In The Rivers.. |

12/1(-50%) | (5) Double Click 12/1, Pulled up in a handicap chase at Uttoxeter latest; blinkers first time; effective 2m-2m7f on S and G; return to hurdles looks a plus. Disappointing chase debut latest; record in Ffos Las hurdles on slow ground reads 112.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(4) (25/1 -150%)Karuma Grey |
25/1(-150%) | (4) Karuma Grey 25/1, Pulled up in a handicap chase at Uttoxeter latest; usually held up; effective 2m4f-3m, acts on Hy and S; unreliable. Second in a 0-130 chase here last month (3m), but beaten after five fences latest.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

GOLD IN THE RIVERS exploited a drop in the ratings when he successfully reverted to hurdles at Market Rasen and he can strike while the iron is hot to follow up from just 2lb higher. Orderoftheday is consistent and must be feared with Sean Bowen back in the saddle, while Ramo and Stellar Stream are other interesting each-way options to consider.

With his yard finally firing again, RAMO may prove able to reverse last-time Market Rasen placings with Gold In The Rivers.
Ths is the racecard key.

Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
