1st (1) (4/1 +67%)Hellfire Princess |
4/1(+67%) | (1) Hellfire Princess 4/1, Again below form when fourth beaten 22l in a handicap hurdle at Carlisle latest; trainer in form; effective at around 2m4f-3m1f, acts on soft and good; form in and out. Clear course winner in November but returned from break with two lesser runs in February. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (10/1 +38%)Neeps And Tatties |
10/1(+38%) | (5) Neeps And Tatties 10/1, Lacked pace on drier ground upped in trip beaten 10l in a handicap hurdle at Hereford last time; effective 2m, acts on heavy and soft; ground here in his favour. Ran quite well on handicap debut (2m) and subsequent 2m3f defeat is not viewed harshly. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (5/2 -67%)Queen Of Steel |
5/2(-67%) | (3) Queen Of Steel 5/2, Won this last year; improved up in trip when second beaten 3/4l off 89 last time, 4lb higher here; effective 2m4f-3m, acts on heavy and good; back in form and go well again. Stayed on well for Leicester win in January and ran big race in defeat last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (9/1 -50%)Man Maid |
9/1(-50%) | (2) Man Maid 9/1, Unseated in a handicap hurdle at Wincanton latest; effective 2m on soft; type to do better upped in trip now. Unexposed 5yo who was going okay before unseating rider on recent handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (5/2 -67%)Rest Is The Best |
5/2(-67%) | (4) Rest Is The Best 5/2, Best work late up in trip beaten 3/4l off a 3lb lower mark at Chepstow last time; effective 2m4f, acts on soft; improving, likely to get even further. Close up in first two handicaps, both over 2m3f at Chepstow (soft) this year; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (11/2 +78%)Half Pint Daisy |
11/2(+78%) | (6) Half Pint Daisy 11/2, Again ran to moderate level comfortably held in a handicap hurdle at Chepstow last time; effective at 2m on good to soft; has looked a tricky ride. Soundly beaten in both handicaps and difficult to enthuse over. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Queen Of Steel supplemented a victory at Leicester with a close second at Southwell last month and she's likely to be in the thick of the action once more. However, a 4lb higher mark does demand further progress and REST IS THE BEST is slightly more appealing. Harriet Dickin's mare has caught the eye on both handicap outings at Chepstow and may have more to offer. Stablemate Man Maid may fare best of the remainder.

A chance is taken with NEEPS AND TATTIES, who made a promising handicap debut over 2m two starts ago and had excuses last time.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (9/4 -50%)El Rojo Grande |
9/4(-50%) | (4) El Rojo Grande 9/4, Improved again second beaten a head off 85 last time, 3lb higher here; effective 2m-2m4f, acts on heavy and good; can go well again off new mark. Began year with three slow-ground wins and lost out only narrowly last time; good chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

17/2(+23%) | (3) Benignitas 17/2, Pulled up in a handicap chase at Hereford latest; effective 2m4f, acts on any; point winner should have more to offer over fences but must bounce back. Good second over C&D on chase debut but pulled up since and now 0-14 under rules. |

10/3(+70%) | (7) Ferando 10/3, Fell late when weakening, maybe needed run on chase debut at Sedgefield latest; effective at 2m4f on heavy; more to come if okay after fall on chase debut. Still very unexposed but absent since falling on chase/handicap debut in September. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (1) (9/1 +0%)Walkinthewoods |
9/1(+0%) | (1) Walkinthewoods 9/1, Long way below form when comfortably held in a handicap chase at Wincanton last time; effective 2m3f-3m on a sound surface; inconsistent. Unseated rider when returned to chasing in January and has suffered a heavy defeat since. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Although thwarted in his bid to land a four-timer when a head second over 2m here three weeks ago, EL ROJO GRANDE lost little in defeat. The son of Ocovango looks ready for a return to an extended 2m3f and he may find enough improvement to defy a 3lb rise in the ratings. Boston Joe was underwhelming when pulled up over timber at Chepstow in January, but his previous efforts at this venue make him a live danger. Bangor runner-up Port Or Starboard is a feasible alternative.

Three-time course winner BOSTON JOE has slipped to a good mark and gets the nod in the hope he can put a poor hurdle run behind him.

Well beaten in Grade 2 last month but had shown useful form beforehand; leading contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (5/4 -87%)Whiskey Yankee |
5/4(-87%) | (2) Whiskey Yankee 5/4, Still green and made numerous errors when comfortably held in Prestige Novices' Hurdle (Grade 2) at Haydock last time; in good form prior; effective 2m6f-3m, acts on soft and good to soft; debut form strong, could progress down in grade. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (17/2 +15%)Soldier For Glory |
17/2(+15%) | (4) Soldier For Glory 17/2, Bit keen but some promise on rules debut when 18l third in a novice hurdle here most recent run; effective at 2m4f on heavy; improvement likely. Not disgraced when third of four over C&D on rules debut but needs improvement today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (150/1 -50%)Makinbecon |
150/1(-50%) | (3) Makinbecon 150/1, Never in it from off the pace comfortably held in a maiden hurdle here last time; effective at 3m in points; needs more. Soundly beaten here on both hurdling starts; now with new stable. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

While his jumping lacked fluency, the Haydock Grade 2 fifth WHISKEY YANKEE holds obvious claims dropping in class. That was only the five-year-old's second outing over hurdles and he's fancied to get the better of the reopposing ninth Lon Chaney. Olly Murphy's charge had previously looked progressive when opening his account at Uttoxeter and should keep the selection honest. Soldier For Glory can take the bronze medal.

A back-on-song LON CHANEY could have too much zip for Whiskey Yankee if this small-field contest becomes tactical.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (9/2 +10%)Alfie's Princess |
9/2(+10%) | (5) Alfie's Princess 9/2, Well held up in class when seventh beaten 27l off 124 last time, 2lb lower here; off a short-break; effective around 2m4f, acts on soft and good to soft; mark demands more. Didn't fire last time but a big player if judged on earlier Wincanton win; upped in trip. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (12/1 +52%)Karuma Grey |
12/1(+52%) | (6) Karuma Grey 12/1, Fell when keeping on in a handicap hurdle here latest; effective 2m4f-3m with cut; unreliable but chance back chasing if okay after fall. 33-1 second here for another yard in January but far too inconsistent to rely upon. |

Returned from mammoth absence with low-key stable debut last month; hard to weigh up. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (8) (11/5 +56%)Genietoile |
11/5(+56%) | (8) Genietoile 11/5, Improved up in trip when second beaten 8 1/2l in a handicap chase at Chepstow latest; effective 2m4f-3m, acts on good to soft and good; progressing over fences and can go well again. Second to progressive rival at Chepstow last time and still has low mileage; likely player. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

FORTUNATE MAN makes a good bit of appeal in this handicap chase taking a drop in class. Fifth last time out in the Eider at Newcastle and third to Pic Roc at Sandown prior to that, the Aintree scorer can get back to winning ways in these calmer waters. Face d'Music arrives in good form and cannot be overlooked under a light weight, while Genietoile also comes into calculations.

Another chance is given to ALFIE'S PRINCESS, who didn't fire last time but is now only 3lb higher than for her win on Boxing Day.

18/1(0%) | (8) Jack's Jury 18/1, Needed run, may have found ground too testing comfortably held in a handicap hurdle here last time; cheekpieces first time; needs 3m, acts on good; galloping tracks will suit. Found 3m on heavy too taxing last time; drops back in trip for stable debut; a possible. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (8/1 +20%)Gustapof |
8/1(+20%) | (7) Gustapof 8/1, Bit below form up in trip when fourth beaten 26l in a handicap hurdle at Newbury latest; stays 2m1f-2m4f, acts on heavy and soft; fairly consistent at useful level over hurdles and fences in France but yet to fire for new yard. 0-4 in Britain but shaped with promise at Newbury last time; could have a say. |

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Jukebox Fury commands attention on his return to action for the in-form Nicky Henderson yard, while Up To Trix will be winning a race like this sooner rather than later. However, it might pay to stick with EL GAVILAN, who is chasing four wins on the spin (all at this track) and seemed to improve for the extra yardage here last time.

In excellent form in recent weeks, EL GAVILAN (nap) could still be well handicapped after a 5lb rise for his C&D success 24 days ago.

10/11(+74%) | (3) Galatrona 10/11, Improved to get off the mark when winning a maiden point at Ballinaboola by 7l last time; effective at 3m in points; brings potential to rules and looks promising. Bought for £60,000 after last month's 7l Irish point winner; no surprise if she features. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

50/1(-100%) | (1) Atlantic Blue 50/1, Poor debut when well beaten in a Mares' bumper at Warwick only start; surely capable of better. Made underwhelming debut when well-held seventh at Warwick last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (9/2 -29%)Mirabello |
9/2(-29%) | (5) Mirabello 9/2, Order Of St George mare; half-sister to Saturday Song, fair at 20f; trainer in form and this one is respected in an ordinary race on debut. Out of a half-sister to useful jumper Cogry; stable does very well in bumpers. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Galatrona impressed between the flags last month and is respected on her Rules bow, likewise Johnny's Belle who boasts a similar profile and Diamond White, who placed at Newcastle. PORT AND BRANDY can send her supporters home smiling, though, on the basis that she brings more point-to-point experience to the table and was a solid third at Warwick on her Rules introduction.

Port And Brandy ran well on last month's rules debut but preference is for DIAMOND WHITE, who was placed in a big field last time.
Ths is the racecard key.
