1st (2) (11/8 +0%)Torbay |
11/8(+0%) | (2) Torbay 11/8, Ideally suited by trip beaten 6l in a novice over 6f at Chepstow last time; opening mark lenient on that; top course jockey; go close if stamina holds up on handicap debut Well beaten in his first two starts but his latest one was more encouraging; back up to 7f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (9/2 +36%)Lady Lauren |
9/2(+36%) | (3) Lady Lauren 9/2, Going probably on fast side down the field in a novice over 6f at Chepstow most recent; inconsistent; longer trip should suit; minor chance on handicap debut Last in each of her three starts (5f/6f); better needed now up in trip for handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (6/5 +26%)Sunset Strip |
6/5(+26%) | (1) Sunset Strip 6/5, Did not get a clear run beaten 8l in a novice over 5f at Bath last time; consistent in maidens over sprint trips; feasible threat with longer distance likely to suit on handicap bow Down the field in three starts (6f/5f); now steps up in trip/switches to handicap company. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

This small-field affair shouldn't take much winning and it may prove a suitable opportunity for TORBAY to open his account. Having been beaten six lengths on his latest outing at Chepstow, an opening mark of 54 looks workable for Emma Lavelle's colt. The biggest threat is likely to emerge from Sunset Strip, who is a potential improver stepping up in distance. Lady Lauren can chase the pair home.

Torbay is second choice but SUNSET STRIP is a half-sister to a 7f winner and may yet do better now stepping up in trip.

16/1(+52%) | (9) Starakova 16/1, Beaten 8 1/4l in a maiden at Lingfield on debut beating only 1 home in weak race; needs to improve Well beaten when eighth of nine on debut at Lingfield 28 days ago; better is needed. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Although unable to land a blow when finishing 14th in the Windsor Castle at Royal Ascot, GAGA MATE is likely to seen in a much better light in these calmer waters. George Scott's colt had previously impressed when making a winning debut at Catterick and is fancied to regain the winning thread. Hilitany, a 300,000-pound purchase in April, is a potential fly in the ointment on his opening bid. The son of Ubettabelieveit is feared most, ahead of Tickettothestars.

Tickettothestars may appreciate this drop back to 5f but LOVE ALIVE is taken to make a winning debut for Richard Hannon.

6/1(+63%) | (4) Summer Rain 6/1, Appeared not to stay down the field in a handicap over 8f at Chepstow most recent; blinkers first time; top course jockey; drop in trip a plus; bit more needed 1m was too far last time; now returns to 5f with new blinkers fitted; stable run two here. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Rogue Endeavour arrives on the back of a respectable third at Bath and a similar performance should see him in the thick of the action once more. However, it could be worth taking a punt on PURE ARTISTRY, who didn't enjoy the best of passages when sixth on her seasonal bow at Doncaster last month. Michael Bell's filly is entitled to improve with that run under her belt and a first career victory may beckon. Flicka's Girl is the pick of the remainder.

Son Of Astar should leave this year's efforts behind him today but ROGUE ENDEAVOUR has been threatening for his new trainer.

HIGH DEGREE can make it third-time lucky in this maiden for the powerful William Haggas stable. Second on debut at Nottingham before showing some improvement last time when filling the same place at Doncaster, it's surely just a matter of time before he strikes in this company. Asian Journey is an interesting newcomer and the market may tell us more about him, while Charming Princess is another to take seriously.

Charming Princess should go well but HIGH DEGREE can get off the mark, having run to a useful level in both starts.

The versatile GALACTIC GLOW gained the success his recent form deserved at Bath last time out and connections have found their gelding another very winnable opening. Spartan Times cannot be overlooked, but he does have a 5lb penalty to contend with for his C&D win in a classified stakes race. He is the main danger, ahead of the top-weight Harlington.

Galactic Glow is respected but SPARTAN TIMES (nap) can follow up his C&D win and complete the hat-trick under a 5lb penalty.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

COGITAL performed well in defeat here over 2m last week, a performance which suggested his winning turn could be just around the corner. A winner over hurdles at this track, supporters will be pleased to see David Probert keeps the ride and he can get the better of Black Smoke, who bounced back to form when scoring at Chepstow. Endofastorm appears best of the remainder.

Black Smoke holds claims under a penalty but a chance is taken on COGITAL who ran a more encouraging race here last time.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
