(7) (1/33 +94%)There Runs Mary |
1/33(+94%) | (7) There Runs Mary 1/33, Ran to form up in grade under a penalty when second, beaten 3l, in a mares' bumper at Newbury last time; trainer in form; returns from a long layoff and looks the one to beat on bumper form. Looked promising in slow-ground bumpers last season; ought to make presence felt here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(6) (14/1 +65%)Pipas Lescribaa |
14/1(+65%) | (6) Pipas Lescribaa 14/1, Below form when well beaten in a 2m4f conditions race at Bordeaux Le Bouscat last time; returns from a long layoff; effective at 2m and handles soft ground; a French flat winner whose hurdle form has since declined. Safely held in two slow-ground hurdles in France at start of this year. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (25/1 +75%)Adrian |
25/1(+75%) | (1) Adrian 25/1, Never threatened when well beaten in a handicap over 2m1f at Wolverhampton last time; has plenty to find here and stamina to prove on hurdle debut. Has a lowly Flat mark nowadays and makes very limited appeal on hurdling debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (33/1 +67%)Elusive Knight |
33/1(+67%) | (3) Elusive Knight 33/1, Found little when down the field in a maiden hurdle at Chepstow last time; acts on good ground and may show more under rules, though likely better suited by a longer trip than 2m. Won maiden point in March but has struggled in three maiden hurdles this autumn. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Klimt Madrik shaped with promise here on his Rules debut and although it wasn't quite enough to claim a place, better can be expected. That said, he already appeared to want further so with a drop in trip not certain to be of benefit, it looks best to side with THERE RUNS MARY. Olly Murphy's mare, a bumper winner at the beginning of the year, is related to the useful She's A Fine Wine so if anything like her sister now sent hurdling, should be hard to beat. Adrian completes the shortlist.

Preference is for KLIMT MADRIK, who made a good start to his hurdling career here three weeks ago.

(8) (13/8 +59%)Try The Money |
13/8(+59%) | (8) Try The Money 13/8, Ran to form when second, beaten 6½l in a handicap chase here last time. Effective at 3m and suited by soft ground; latest form has worked out very well. 0-6 over fences but ended last season with good second over C&D. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (11/4 +45%)Shot Boii |
11/4(+45%) | (2) Shot Boii 11/4, Ran to form when fourth, beaten 12l in a handicap chase here last time. Effective at 3m, handles any ground and generally consistent. Makes seasonal debut from a good mark and with trip/ground suitable; a possible. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (4/1 +47%)Stellar Stream |
4/1(+47%) | (1) Stellar Stream 4/1, Never threatened and needed the run when well beaten in a handicap chase over 3m1f here last time. Effective over 3m+, suited by soft ground, though appears to be regressing. Well handicapped but has become inconsistent; made low-key seasonal debut last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (6/1 -167%)Esperti |
6/1(-167%) | (5) Esperti 6/1, Well treated up 5lb and ran to form when beaten 1¼l off 80 over 3m2f at Newton Abbot last time after a break. Usually held up; effective at 3m and handles any ground; back in form and remains well treated on old efforts. C&D winner in February and made creditable reappearance last month; major player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(7) (12/1 +0%)Benny Baloo |
12/1(+0%) | (7) Benny Baloo 12/1, Needed the run when comfortably held in a handicap chase over 3m2f at Newton Abbot last time after a short break. Effective at 3m+; has dropped in the weights and ran well to a point on stable debut. Well beaten on stable debut but that came after a long absence; market may guide. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(9) (22/1 -100%)Dysania |
22/1(-100%) | (9) Dysania 22/1, Below form when well beaten in a handicap chase over 3m2f at Fontwell last time. Effective at 3m but inconsistent. Very inconsistent 10yo who sometimes races lazily and is never easy to predict. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(6) (33/1 -450%)Spotty Dog |
33/1(-450%) | (6) Spotty Dog 33/1, Ran to form when third, beaten 10l in a handicap chase over 3m4f at Taunton last time. Effective at 3m+ and prefers decent ground; not the force of old but running well recently. Began this year with some respectable efforts but has fitness to prove after 224-day break. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

ESPERTI turned a corner to score over C&D on his final start last season before returning with a good second at Newton Abbot. Perhaps crucially, David Rees' gelding will relish testing conditions and, with the assistance of Sean Bowen, could earn a second chasing triumph. Try The Money still has few miles on the clock so may have a bit more to offer, while Shot Boii is worth a look on his reappearance.

After a pleasing seasonal debut at Newton Abbot last month, ESPERTI is taken to record a second C&D success.

(2) (4/7 +31%)Gee Force Flyer |
4/7(+31%) | (2) Gee Force Flyer 4/7, Made a very promising debut when 4l third in a maiden hurdle here last time. Effective at 2m and handles ground with cut; debut form looks strong and he's an obvious improver. Irish point winner; kept on well for third over C&D on recent rules debut; should improve. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (9/2 -64%)Legendary Luke |
9/2(-64%) | (3) Legendary Luke 9/2, Showed greenness under pressure but shaped well on debut when second, beaten 7 1/2l, in an Amateurs' bumper over 2m at Worcester last time. Trainer in form but he has a bit to find. Irish point winner; second in Worcester bumper on recent rules debut; major player here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(4) (11/2 -10%)Tamarind Bay |
11/2(-10%) | (4) Tamarind Bay 11/2, Made mistakes but ran to form when second, beaten 6 1/2l, in a novice hurdle over 2m7f at Kelso last time. Effective from 2 1/2m to 2 3/4m and seems suited by good ground; has generally been in good form. Ran well last week but 0-9 over hurdles now and becoming rather frustrating. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (9/1 -13%)Allstitchedup |
9/1(-13%) | (1) Allstitchedup 9/1, Green and made mistakes but showed promise when 17l third in a maiden hurdle here on his latest start. This is his second run since a wind operation; effective at 2 1/2m and likely to stay 3m in time with further improvement expected. Very encouraging third over C&D on recent hurdling debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Tamarind Bay sets the standard with an official rating of 113 and can be expected to run his race, but LEGENDARY LUKE shades preference. The point-to-point winner, whose dam is a half-sister to Gold Cup hero Native River, appeared to bump into one at Worcester on his Rules bow. There was no disgrace in finishing second and any improvement now sent over hurdles could be enough. Gee Force Flyer can get the better of Allstitchedup for third.

The suggestion is GEE FORCE FLYER, who probably didn't have the race run to suit his patient tactics when third over C&D last month.

(4) (7/4 +13%)El Bandido Pancho |
7/4(+13%) | (4) El Bandido Pancho 7/4, Quickened clear cosily and improved again when landing a handicap by 7l off 81 here last time. Effective over 2 1/2m and suited by soft conditions; progressive and should build on that success. Drew clear to score by 7l over C&D last week; commands respect under 7lb penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(7) (3/1 +40%)Glengolly |
3/1(+40%) | (7) Glengolly 3/1, Well backed but possibly did not stay when fourth, beaten 11l, in a 3m handicap hurdle here last time. Effective over 2 1/2m and should benefit from a drop in trip. Ran well before weakening into fourth here (3m) in April but now 0-11 over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (4/1 +0%)Leech |
4/1(+0%) | (3) Leech 4/1, Ran to form when fourth, beaten 8l, in a 2m handicap hurdle here last time. Effective between 2m and 2 1/2m and suited by soft ground; in fair form and should come on for the latest effort. 0-8 over hurdles but ran fairly well over 2m last month and is worth another crack at 2m4f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (9/2 +10%)Sparkling Duke |
9/2(+10%) | (2) Sparkling Duke 9/2, Ran to form when winning a 3m maiden point at Maisemore Park by 1 1/4l last time; looks best suited by further. 0-8 over hurdles but won a point in March and Sean Bowen is a booked today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(6) (10/1 -18%)Dance In The Park |
10/1(-18%) | (6) Dance In The Park 10/1, Pulled up in a handicap hurdle at Huntingdon last time when returning from a long layoff. Effective at 2m and acts on any going but currently in poor form. Pulled up when 40-1 for handicap debut in February but now with a new stable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (28/1 +15%)Kap De Triomphe |
28/1(+15%) | (5) Kap De Triomphe 28/1, May have found the ground too fast when well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Worcester last time. Wears cheekpieces for the first time; effective over 2 1/2m and prefers soft ground but currently out of form. Absent since heavy defeat in May and now 0-7 over hurdles; cheekpieces tried today. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Sparkling Duke makes his first start for the Kayley Woollacott yard and the booking of Sean Bowen catches the eye. However, EL BANDIDO PANCHO was a convincing seven-length victor over track and trip 10 days ago and if in anything like that form, he will prove hard to beat again. Leech kept on for fourth over 2m here last month and is likely to appreciate the step back up in trip.

The most obvious answer is EL BANDIDO PANCHO, who made all for a convincing C&D success ten days ago.

(1) (4/5 -100%)Jaipaletemps |
4/5(-100%) | (1) Jaipaletemps 4/5, Returned to form when dropped in grade for an easy win, landing a handicap by 8l off 94 over 2m here last time. Effective from 2m to 2½m and suited by plenty of cut. Remains well treated on French form and could follow up. Returned from break with very comfortable course win ten days ago; obvious contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (16/5 +51%)A Great Excuse |
16/5(+51%) | (2) A Great Excuse 16/5, Bit below form when comfortably held in a maiden hurdle at Taunton last time. Wears cheekpieces for the first time and returns from a long layoff. In the mix if sharper for the outing starting out over fences. Displayed promise in maiden hurdles last season; now handicap chasing for new stable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(4) (8/1 +20%)Dj Pete |
8/1(+20%) | (4) Dj Pete 8/1, Fell in a 2m1f handicap chase at Bangor-on-Dee last time. Effective at 2m on good ground and had been in fair form in spring. May just need this outing to regain sharpness. Ten-race maiden; posted some good efforts on good ground in spring; untested on soft. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(7) (10/1 +70%)Jaunty Viking |
10/1(+70%) | (7) Jaunty Viking 10/1, Found little when comfortably held in a 3m handicap chase here last time. Effective from 2m to 2½m and acts on any ground, yet to convince as a chaser. Travelled well for a long way over 3m here last month; worth a second look. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(6) (14/1 +22%)Bossofthebus |
14/1(+22%) | (6) Bossofthebus 14/1, Pulled up in a 2m handicap chase at Hereford last time. Effective around 2½m and handles soft conditions. Has plenty to prove over fences at this stage. Ex-Irish 6yo; struggled on both starts for new stable this autumn. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (16/1 +36%)Ballywood |
16/1(+36%) | (5) Ballywood 16/1, Ran to current form when fourth, beaten 15l, in a 2m handicap chase here last time. Effective from 2m to 2½m and acts on soft or good ground but remains out of form. Ran well from the front when fourth here recently but remains winless since 2019. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(8) (22/1 -57%)Imperial Measure |
22/1(-57%) | (8) Imperial Measure 22/1, Made mistakes and ran well below form when comfortably held in a 2m6f handicap chase at Fontwell last time. Cheekpieces on for the first time. Needs at least 2m4f and must return to his summer form, though the handicapper is easing off. Competes off career-low mark here but needs a good boost from the new cheekpieces. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (25/1 -56%)Ballybeen |
25/1(-56%) | (3) Ballybeen 25/1, Failed to find much when well beaten in a 2m7f handicap chase at Stratford last time. Trainer in form, and while effective around 2½m and acts on any ground, his recent form has tailed off and he has plenty to prove. Disappointed on sole start for Sam Thomas last term and made low-key yard debut last month. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Jaipaletemps is bound to attract support after scoring easily over 2m here but a 7lb penalty, along with the step up in distance, might open the door for A GREAT EXCUSE. The five-year-old has shown little in four outings under Rules, but was sent off at big prices and now makes his handicap/chase debut on his first appearance for the Max Comley stable. The application of first-time cheekpieces could also help eke out more. Dj Pete completes the shortlist.

The speculative selection is JAUNTY VIKING, who didn't run anything like as badly as his 64l defeat might suggest here last month.

13/8(+13%) | (1) Followango 13/8, Ran to form when beaten 3l off a mark of 105 over 3m1f at Hereford last time; effective from 2m to 3m and needs some cut; consistent and fairly treated on hurdles form. Began this season with two creditable seconds and has conditions in her favour here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (13/8 +64%)Lady Harriett |
13/8(+64%) | (5) Lady Harriett 13/8, Pulled up in a handicap hurdle over 3m at Doncaster last time; returning from a long layoff; effective from 2½m to 3m but inconsistent. Has very mixed record over hurdles but was a stylish course winner a year ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(4) (11/2 -144%)Somethingtosomeone |
11/2(-144%) | (4) Somethingtosomeone 11/2, From a yard that won this last year; ran to form when second, beaten 4½l in a handicap hurdle over 2m4f here last time; suited by better going and longer distances; latest form franked and still has more to come in handicaps. Second here on handicap debut in March; upped from 2m4f today; might improve again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(6) (10/1 +70%)Another Pearl |
10/1(+70%) | (6) Another Pearl 10/1, Below form when stepped up in trip and well beaten in a handicap hurdle over 2m7f at Market Rasen last time; cheekpieces on for the first time; effective from 2½m to 3m and acts on good ground but yet to fire in handicaps. Soundly beaten in both handicaps; switched to slow ground with headgear added here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (14/1 -40%)Walkinthecotswolds |
14/1(-40%) | (2) Walkinthecotswolds 14/1, Fell in a handicap chase over 2m3f here last time; returning from a long layoff but generally consistent in this sphere. Made all at Chepstow in January; absent since mid-race fall on chasing debut in February. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (22/1 -214%)Hellfire Princess |
22/1(-214%) | (3) Hellfire Princess 22/1, Did not find much and needed the run when finishing down the field in a handicap hurdle over 2m4f here last time; effective around 2½m but form has tailed off recently. Returned from latest layoff with tame effort here last month; others have less to prove. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Followango has occupied the runner-up spot in eight of her 15 starts under Rules, most recently over fences at Hereford, and SOMETHINGTOSOMEONE might be the reason she fills that place again. Ben Clarke's mare was last seen taking the silver medal home over 2m4f at this track in March and has undergone a wind operation during her summer break. She should have more to offer on just her second outing in a handicap. Lady Harriett is another to note.

This looks a good opportunity for FOLLOWANGO (nap), who has posted two good efforts this autumn and has conditions in her favour today.
Ths is the racecard key.
