STORM PIECE showed plenty of promise in three outings last year including when runner-up to Officer on debut at the Curragh and may not have been suited by testing ground when again filling second spot on his reappearance also over this trip at Naas. Iceford and Hostility have a lot to recommend from four maiden outings and the latter was clear of the remainder when runner-up to Admiral Churchill at Limerick last month. Hopes Are High was prominent throughout when a close third to Aston Value over C&D, while Wegotogether caught the eye when keeping on well after a tardy start on debut at the Curragh.

Preference is for STORM PIECE, runner-up in a Naas event that looked stronger than the Limerick race in which Hostility was second

11th (3) (33/1 0%)Aoife's Territory |
33/1(0%) | (3) Aoife's Territory 33/1, Ran to form comfortably held in a maiden at Naas last time; hard to recommend and needs this for a mark Ran twice at three, fair pedigree, may find her level in handicaps in due course.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (4) (100/1 -100%)Bear Creek |
100/1(-100%) | (4) Bear Creek 100/1, Yet to show any real signs of ability; top course trainer; up in trip; top jockey booked but all to do on final qualifying run No sign of winning potential in maidens at Cork and Limerick, transformation needed. |

FIRST WAVE was only headed close home when beaten a neck by better fancied stablemate Expanded on debut at the Curragh. The son of Wootton Bassett has probably shown a similar level of form when a beaten favourite on all three outings since, including when second to Dupont Law on the opening day of the turf season over this trip at the Curragh. Daler didn't enjoy the clearest of passages when third to County Mayo over C&D last autumn and the form of that race has worked out quite well since. Ben Lawers, Pierre Royal and Rizal are newcomers to keep a close eye on and any market support would be significant.

Three instances of beaten favouritism raise a significant doubt but FIRST WAVE may collect here in a first-time tongue-tie

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

Just a neck separated AMEERAT JUMAIRA and Goodie Two Shoes when filling the places behind the impressive Bubble Gum in the Listed Noblesse Stakes over 1m4f at Cork last month, with Lady Doris over three lengths back in sixth. The selection progressed well in handicaps last year winning at Dundalk and the Curragh and, having come home strongly at Cork, has every chance of staying this trip on her favoured sound surface. Cheeky Wink has reportedly strengthened up this year and scored in good style at Tipperary last time but is another stepping into the unknown distance wise.

Running on strongly in a Cork 1m4f Listed race last time after meeting trouble in-running, AMEERAT JUMAIRA can go one better.

12th (8) (28/1 -100%)Sea The Lady |
28/1(-100%) | (8) Sea The Lady 28/1, Probably needed race down the field in Devoy Stakes (Listed) over 10f at Naas most recent; may not relish fast ground; placed at Group level in France and Germany last year; not out of it Useful filly when trained in France, run was too bad to be true on Irish debut at Naas. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

JANCIS showed a smart turn of foot when successful on her opening two starts over 7f at Leopardstown including the Group 3 Brownstown Stakes. She found Group 1 company too hot subsequently in the Matron Stakes but remains a filly of considerable potential and it will be interesting to see how she copes with this step up in trip. Riding arrangements suggest Uluru is preferred of Joseph O'Brien's trio and she's closely matched with Thalara on running behind Lord Massusus over a mile at Leopardstown last month. Madam Celeste had Annaghmccanns behind when fourth to Bubble Gum over 1m4f at Cork and shouldn't be inconvenienced by this shorter distance.

Willie McCreery ran JANCIS in the Matron Stakes on only her third start. That proved too demanding but she may be good enough here

9th (1) (250/1 -67%)Glowing Bird |
250/1(-67%) | (1) Glowing Bird 250/1, Appeared not to stay well beaten in a maiden over 12f at Dundalk latest; generally out of form; not proven trip; returning from a break; all to do Has struggled in outings over three different trips, can be safely discounted.. |

Leopardstown runner-up TSWALU should be able to go one better. Although no match for the winner on that occasion, the filly who beat her franked the form when second in a Group 3 next time. Joseph O'Brien's daughter of Justify should be all the better for that reappearance effort and will be hard to beat. Joyful Princess sets a fair standard with an official rating of 82. Having taken minor honours on her last two starts as a juvenile, the Jessica Harrington-trained filly has to be respected on her first outing of the campaign. Crystal Ball is entitled to be sharper having finished fourth on her introduction. The application of first-time cheekpieces should also aid her cause.

The form of the Leopardstown race in which TSWALU(nap) was second a month ago is persuasive enough to suggest she can go one better

80/1(-142%) | (8) Ainm Bentley 80/1, Went too fast down the field in a maiden over 7f at Limerick most recent; not proven trip; unproven on fast ground; improvement required on handicap debut Not much promise in three maidens including over C&D; has to do much better. |

LETTERS OF LOVE has every chance of reversing recent Tipperary form with Cala Bonita over this shorter trip. Well supported beforehand, the Joseph O'Brien-trained filly looked a real threat when coming through to challenge. However, she had no more to offer inside the final furlong and faded into fifth, suggesting that a drop back to this mile will suit. A daughter of Calyx, she should have no issues with quicker ground. Cala Bonita stepped up on her maiden efforts when runner-up in that contest and a reproduction of the performance would make her a real threat. James The Second, who was second at this track last time, also merits consideration.

Having run a fine race with a hood added over 1m2f last time, ELVETHAM can get off the mark dropped in trip with the headgear off.

14th (7) (7/1 +50%)Harseva |
7/1(+50%) | (7) Harseva 7/1, Down the field in a handicap over 10f at Navan most recent; generally out of form; down in trip; unproven on fast ground; bit to find and may find this sharp enough test Placed once (1m2f) from nine starts; not as good since and poor on soft last time. |

Cork fifth MAY NIGHT has strong claims back on a sounder surface. Despite having placed form on soft ground, the seven-time all-weather winner registered his only previous turf victory on good going. A prominent racer, the Shane Duffy-trained seven-year-old will be suited to this track and, well handicapped on his best form, he showed enough last time to suggest he will soon be adding to his tally. Naas scorer Harry The Rogue has to be respected now that he has finally gained that elusive winning bracket. However, he has work to do to reverse Cork form with the selection. Sayfa Fad is also worthy of consideration with Colin Keane booked.

MAY NIGHT has come down to an appealing mark and can improve from his Cork run on unsuitably soft ground.

It could pay to take a chance on the Paul Nolan-trained JARVIS BROOK. Narrowly denied on his reappearance at this track last season, the gelding disappointed in subsequent outings. However, he shaped well enough when third over hurdles when last seen to suggest that he is capable of winning races. Glencullen has yet to win from 12 attempts, but it is surely significant that Joanna Morgan has persisted with the lowly-rated five-year-old. He has hinted on more than one occasion that he has the ability to get his head in front. Dinamine also holds claims for Michael Mulvany.

Though a longstanding maiden, MAN IS KING ran a cracker at Naas last time and this track favours frontrunners like him so he can score.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
