1st (1) (6/1 -100%)Break My Soul |
6/1(-100%) | (1) Break My Soul 6/1, Below form when fourth, beaten 24l in the Boodles Champion Hurdle (Grade 1) at Punchestown last time; a potential threat. Top-rated of these courtesy of two hurdling wins and some good efforts at Gr.1 level. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (9/1 -38%)Qualimita |
9/1(-38%) | (5) Qualimita 9/1, Ran to form when second, beaten a neck in a maiden hurdle at Thurles last time; has a lot to find. Expensive point purchase is winless from 8 over hurdles; may do better over fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (14/1 -27%)Diamond Nora |
14/1(-27%) | (3) Diamond Nora 14/1, Ran to form when second, beaten 6 1/2l in a handicap hurdle over 2m1f at Tramore last time after rising 7lb; returning from a long layoff and usually held up; needs plenty more. Winner of sole point start and twice a winner over hurdles, but a bit to find on ratings. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (11/4 +39%)The Great Nudie |
11/4(+39%) | (6) The Great Nudie 11/4, Keen early, outpaced but rallied when second, beaten 3 1/4l in a mares' hurdle here last time; improved down in grade and needed the run; still has a bit to find. Point winner is a two-time winner over hurdles and can rate higher in this sphere. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (66/1 -267%)Crescent Moon |
66/1(-267%) | (2) Crescent Moon 66/1, Made mistakes and never travelled when outclassed and well beaten in a beginners' chase over 2m4f at Down Royal last time; effective at 2m–2m4f and may stay a bit further; one for handicaps over fences. Second in sole point and made a decent chase debut but tailed off last time; can do better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (5/6 +52%)Lantry Lady |
5/6(+52%) | (4) Lantry Lady 5/6, Below form when well beaten in the Rathbarry & Glenview Studs Hurdle (Grade 2) over 2m4f at Fairyhouse last time; stable won this race last year and the trainer is in form; the pick on overall form. Lightly-raced 7yo was an easy winner of a Gr. 3 around here; yard does well with chasers. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (50/1 -525%)Whatcouldhavebeen |
50/1(-525%) | (7) Whatcouldhavebeen 50/1, Below hurdle form when fourth, beaten 37l in a beginners' chase over 2m4f at Kilbeggan last time; wants further and easier ground; looks the pick on race times. Four-time winner but out of form last season; tailed off on chase debut. |

BREAK MY SOUL and Lantry Lady showed a similar level of form over hurdles and preference is for the former. The point-to-point winner scored twice over hurdles for Nicky Henderson and has kept good company since joining current connections this year, including when fourth behind Lossiemouth at Aintree. Lantry Lady won the Grade 3 Red Mills Trial Hurdle on testing ground here last year, but has been a bit disappointing since and didn't impress with her jumping on her only chase start at Naas. The Great Nudie easily won her only point-to-point start, and the dual hurdles winner also has the benefit of a recent run at this venue.

The one to beat on hurdles form is BREAK MY SOUL who wasn't beaten far in a Gr. 3 around here and wasn't disgraced in Gr. 1 runs

1st (5) (18/1 +0%)Jacovec Cavern |
18/1(+0%) | (5) Jacovec Cavern 18/1, Ran to form when beaten 8l in a handicap hurdle at Clonmel last time. Has a small chance if building on that effort. Rated 110 over hurdles; mostly decent runs recently but will need his best on chasing bow. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (15/2 +6%)John The Diva |
15/2(+6%) | (7) John The Diva 15/2, Ran to form when flattening out late up in trip behind useful pair, finishing 19l third in a beginners chase over 2m7f at Kilbeggan last time. Needs to find more. Course hurdle winner has run well at times over fences; handles this ground so considered. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (15) (5/1 -11%)Sophia Rose |
5/1(-11%) | (15) Sophia Rose 5/1, Travelled well and improved on hurdle form on chase debut when second, beaten 3½l, in a 2m3f beginners chase at Downpatrick last time. Effective at 2½m and in good form with debut form boosted. Second on chasing debut; this ground is a question but a chance if she handles it. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (5/1 +33%)Brucejack |
5/1(+33%) | (2) Brucejack 5/1, Fell late in a handicap chase over 3m4f at Leopardstown last time when running on and would likely have placed. Returning from a long layoff; consistent but frustrating maiden who is effective from 2½m to 3½m on any ground. Second in this race last year on good ground but handles soft and should be a player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (18) (12/1 -33%)Butter Fingers |
12/1(-33%) | (18) Butter Fingers 12/1, Unseated rider in a beginners chase at Wexford last time. Effective at 2m and suited by plenty of cut but likely to need more time over fences. Running well enough on chasing debut when unseating 4 out at Wexford; has a chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (11) (20/1 +39%)Oneforgonzo |
20/1(+39%) | (11) Oneforgonzo 20/1, Not clear run when fourth, beaten 14l, in a 3m handicap hurdle at Cork last time. Likely to appreciate further. Soundly beaten in five chase starts and has plenty to find in this grade. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (9) (7/2 +61%)Mighty Berkshire |
7/2(+61%) | (9) Mighty Berkshire 7/2, Disappointing 21l third in a 3m maiden at Castletown-Geoghegan on his latest start. Returns from a short break and needs to improve. Disappointing odds-on favourite in a point last time; needs much more on chasing bow. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (10) (50/1 +50%)Notimelikedpresent |
50/1(+50%) | (10) Notimelikedpresent 50/1, Below form when finishing down the field in a beginners chase at Clonmel last time. Returning from a long layoff and has it all to do. Well beaten in three maiden hurdles and two beginners' chases; best watched until h'caps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (3) (33/1 +0%)Camino Rock |
33/1(+0%) | (3) Camino Rock 33/1, Made too much use of when finishing down the field in a 2m handicap hurdle at Cork on his latest start. Probably wants 3m to be seen to best effect. Poor over hurdles at Cork last time; well beaten on sole chase start and not easy to fancy. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (13) (20/1 -100%)Tell Us This |
20/1(-100%) | (13) Tell Us This 20/1, Made mistakes but ran to form on chase debut when fourth, beaten 10l, in a 2m3f beginners chase at Downpatrick last time. Wears a tongue-tie for the first time and is steadily progressing. Jumped left and made a bad early mistake on chasing debut; needs to do better; tongue-tie. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (16) (20/1 -100%)Time In A Bottle |
20/1(-100%) | (16) Time In A Bottle 20/1, Far too free up in trip and failed to get home when comfortably held in a 2m7f handicap hurdle at Tipperary last time. Had been in good form prior but needs much more here. Poor over hurdles last time at Tipperary and questions on chasing debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (6) (8/1 +27%)Jerisk Star |
8/1(+27%) | (6) Jerisk Star 8/1, Improved when stepped up in trip and down in grade under positive handling to win a handicap hurdle here by 2l last time but is hard to recommend in this stronger company. Won over hurdles here over this trip last time after wind surgery; in form but needs more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (4) (28/1 -56%)Is Charlie Around |
28/1(-56%) | (4) Is Charlie Around 28/1, Below form when comfortably held in a maiden hurdle at Clonmel last time and has plenty to find. Sound efforts on two of his four hurdle runs (rated 107); has to do more on chasing debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (1) (12/1 +64%)Along The Way |
12/1(+64%) | (1) Along The Way 12/1, Not at his best again after early interference on testing ground when well beaten in a maiden hurdle over 2m3f at Punchestown last time. Wears a hood for the first time and returns from a long layoff with plenty to find. Best hurdle run was fourth at Navan last year; hood added to tongue-tie on return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (17) (25/1 -150%)Workinonadream |
25/1(-150%) | (17) Workinonadream 25/1, Needed the run when 33l third in a mares' hurdle at Wexford last time. The pick on balance of form. Lost her form over hurdles but would have a chance on chasing debut if back to her best. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (8) (40/1 -21%)Little Mixup |
40/1(-21%) | (8) Little Mixup 40/1, Outpaced and continued in poor form when well beaten in a 2m handicap hurdle at Tipperary last time. Difficult to fancy. Once refused and twice unseated in three chase runs; others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (12) (14/1 -75%)Rolly Bowley Boy |
14/1(-75%) | (12) Rolly Bowley Boy 14/1, Fell in a 2m7f handicap chase at Galway last time when weakening late. Needs to find plenty on that showing. Lots of good chase runs but fell on return at Galway and needs a return to his best. |

BRUCEJACK filled the runner-up spot in this race last year and can put his jumping experience to good use. The Pat Fahy-trained gelding handles testing ground and also finished second behind Ney at Punchestown last season. Sophia Rose won a Sligo maiden hurdle this summer and made a creditable start over fences when runner-up to Seskin Flash at Downpatrick, while Magic Boum represents powerful connections and has already won a point-to-point and maiden hurdle. Rolly Bowley Boy has been placed many times over fences, but his jumping still gives some cause for concern.

Runner-up in this race last year on good ground, BRUCEJACK handles this ground and has run well fresh in the past so can score.

THE KING OF PRS is best on soft ground and gained a fifth career win when landing the valuable Dan & Joan Moore Memorial Handicap Chase at Fairyhouse last term. He ran well on seasonal debut last year and hopefully is fully tuned up here on his reappearance. Riding arrangements suggest Downmexicoway is preferred of Henry de Bromhead's trio, and he won in good style at Killarney. Stablemate Champagne Mahler decisively beat Rebel Gold on soft ground over C&D on his penultimate start, while Captains Nephew should benefit from his return after a summer break at Listowel.

The horse in form is the progressive DOWNMEXICOWAY, runner-up in a Tipperary Grade 3 novice last time and he is selected
Class & Speed Card

MAVERICK MACK was narrowly denied on his only point-to-point start and ran better than his finishing position would suggest in a Punchestown bumper last month. The Gordon Elliott-trained gelding is sure to be well schooled and gets a tentative vote in what appears a modest enough maiden. Latopix hails from a yard in great form and won in France, but was soundly beaten on both bumper starts for Jamie Snowden. Bergamasquo and Harty Cup have both shown promise between the flags, while Mart Lane cost 60,000 euro as a yearling and any market support would be significant on debut.

Most appealing of those with form to go on is Bergamasquo, however, debutant MART LANE is given the tentative vote
Class & Speed Card

TIM TOE has joined Henry de Bromhead after being snapped up by leading owners Robcour, following his bumper win at Thurles back in March. The Joshua Tree gelding beat a decent field that day, with the third horse Galileo Sand having won twice since. He looks hard to oppose now on his jumping bow. Jacko Star has shown promise on both his starts, finishing fourth at Navan and on his return at Roscommon in September. Likealightswitch is another to note.

With his yard in cracking form, Thurles debut bumper winner last spring TIM TOE can make a winning transition to hurdles.
Class & Speed Card

THE PASSING WIFE looked a nice type when winning a couple of winners' bumpers in the summer of last year and may be able to make a winning return. The form of those races has worked out pretty well and he also had some strong placed form previously, behind the likes of Wingmen and Redemption Day. Skylight Hustle was a beaten favourite on his Rules debut at Fairyhouse in January but it was still a nice run to finish fourth behind De Temps En Temps. The point-to-point winner should be a big player, while Thedeviluno is noted too.

A runner-up behind some good quality rivals in his last three bumper starts THEDEVILUNO may improve enough on hurdling debut to win
Class & Speed Card

Darragh O'Keeffe sides with LOS BLANCO and he looks capable of scoring off this mark on his handicap debut. The Masked Marvel gelding ran well on his last visit here, when going down by less than a length to a decent sort in Ma Jacks Hill. A similar effort may be enough. Stablemate Dschingis Dragon was a winner here early last month. That didn't look like a strong race but she was value for a bit more than her winning margin and doesn't look harshly treated. Kate Knows Best is another to consider.

WELLUKNOW shaped with plenty of promise on his handicap debut at Limerick and he is taken to get off the mark dropped in trip
Class & Speed Card

There looks scope for plenty more from COUSIN KATE and the well-bred filly could be nicely treated off an initial mark of 100. She shaped with some promise on her first couple of starts before running out a cosy winner at Tramore last month. Eoin Staples takes a useful 7lb off her back and she can go in again. May Call You Back looks like an obvious danger. The Willie Mullins-trained mare won off 1lb higher over fences at Tramore last time. Morell River also comes here with every chance.

REBELLE CHAUD was beaten 1l in a division of this last year off 8lb higher and she shaped encouragingly over C&D last month
Ths is the racecard key.
