17:30 Haydock (Class 4) 5f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

COTAI BELLE continued her progression when opening her account in a maiden at Wetherby last month. An opening mark of 77 could prove lenient for Richard Fahey's filly and she's taken to follow up. Proof bounced back to form with a respectable second at Goodwood a fortnight ago and may serve most resistance to the selection, ahead of fellow handicap debutant U Turn.

A small field but an interesting nursery all the same. GUERNSEY LADY (nap) could be the answer now back at a more manageable level.

18:05 Haydock (Class 5) 11f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Having made all to gain a breakthrough victory at Southwell in January, Mdawi must enter the reckoning on his handicap bow. The Wootton Bassett colt should prove as effective debuting on turf, but KINGMAKER rates the most solid proposition. Andrew Balding's inmate has filled the runner-up spot on his last two outings in handicap company and compensation could be on the cards. Kentucky River is also worth a second look in first-time cheekpieces.

Kingmaker looks set to go well again but KENTUCKY RIVER could benefit from headgear and he can build on his Sandown promise.

18:40 Haydock (Class 5) 10f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

A switch to handicap company proved just the trick for DREAM ANGEL when bagging a first career victory at Wetherby 15 days ago. Richard Fahey's filly is effectively 1lb lower in the ratings if taking Warren Fentiman's 5lb claim into account and a brace may beckon. Having scored in three of her last four outings, Romantic Spirit warrants respect reverting to turf. Broadstone and Joyful Sound could also make their presence felt.

The Wetherby handicap won by BETTY BASSETT last month may be the key formline. She can get the better of Homeland again.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

ARTANIS failed to justify favouritism when second on her racecourse bow at Doncaster last month, but that was still a promising effort. George Boughey's youngster is likely to have learnt a great deal from that experience and can take a step forward to strike. Celestra is a half-sister to Remaat, who was a winner as a juvenile, so she is one to watch in the betting market for the Gosden team. Any market confidence behind Evolutionist would also be interesting.

Artanis should step forward from her promising debut but 600,000euros yearling EVOLUTIONIST can make a winning start to her career.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

INDIAN SPRINGS took a big step forward from his first outing to comfortably shed his maiden tag at Newmarket in April and he has been gelded since. The son of Too Darn Hot now has a penalty to carry, but that is unlikely to prevent him from going in again. Grey Jaguar cost 85,000 euros as a yearling and is a half-brother to dual Group winner Ocean Jewel. Moderna has shown ability in both starts to date and can pick up any pieces.

Grey Jaguar is a well-connected newcomer but INDIAN SPRINGS looked a smart prospect when powering home at the Craven meeting.

SWORD showed a big chunk of improvement in a first-time hood to make his way through the field to triumph at Leicester last month. The son of Kingman makes just his third start for the David O'Meara stable and could defy a 3lb rise. Desert Falcon mounted a bold bid in an attempt to complete the hat-trick when second at Thirsk last time and is one to take seriously. Havana Prince looks best of the rest.

Sword and STOCKPYLE appeal most, with the latter marginally preferred having undergone wind surgery since his last run.

About U.K Horse Racing

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.

There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.

The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.

Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.

In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.

Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
