|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (1/1 +56%)Sticktotheplan |
1/1(+56%) | (1) Sticktotheplan 1/1, Travelled and improved up in trip on stable debut when winning the Persian War Novices' Hurdle (Grade 2) at Chepstow over 2m3f by 4l last time; usually held up; effective up to 2m4f and acts on good ground; drop in trip looks fine. The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

Maiden hurdle winner Jony R needs to step up on that form if he wants to bother the unbeaten MASKED MAN. The son of Masked Marvel won a Stowlin point-to-point by 12 lengths before scoring by the same margin on his hurdling bow at Chepstow where he made all the running and, if his hurdling improves, he could be one to follow this season. Double Measure ran well in second on his hurdling debut and can also get involved.

Olly Murphy's STICKTOTHEPLAN sets a lofty standard and can extend his winning sequence despite having to concede weight all round.

66/1(-164%) | (1) Cossack Chach 66/1, Benefitted from a pace collapse when winning a beginners' chase at Sligo over 2m2f by 4l last time; effective up to 2m7f, acts on soft and good ground; has more to offer over fences. Won at Sligo in October 2024 but absent since and may be best watched on his stable debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

Sunnyvilla won over C&D last December and although now a veteran, he has gone well fresh before and could surprise a few. ESCAPEANDEVADE caught the eye when second at Worcester on his first start for Harry Derham and although upped 1lb for that, he is entitled to improve for his first start since March. David's Well arrives unbeaten over fences after wins at Leicester and Chepstow and is another to take seriously.

This can go to GENTLEMAN BILL whose chase debut third at Aintree four weeks ago bodes very well for his prospects over fences.

Effective at 2m on soft or good ground; needs to bounce back. Stamina a doubt but this course winner reappears with trainer in fine form; not ruled out. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

KABRAL DU MATHAN is stepped up in trip on his first start for Dan Skelton after a neck second at Ayr over 2m on his final start for Paul Nicholls. There is every chance he has improvement to come. The Four Sixes returns to hurdles after winning over fences at Wetherby last month by nine lengths, though Milldam may prove the bigger danger if he gets enough cut in the ground.

The lightly raced 5yo KABRAL DU MATHAN ran some big races in hot handicaps last season and may well improve for the step up in trip.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (5/2 -11%)Iroko |
5/2(-11%) | (4) Iroko 5/2, Had too much to do after a series of errors when fourth, beaten 7 1/2l, in the Grand National over 4m2f at Aintree last time. Has since undergone a wind operation. Easy winner on chase debut; bled from the nose next time; unexposed but faces stiff task. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

A smart hurdler, THE JUKEBOX MAN is proving even better over the larger obstacles. He followed a Grade 2 success at Newbury with victory in the Grade 1 Kauto Star at Kempton at the end of last year and Ben Pauling's progressive charge could prove tough to beat on his reappearance. Iroko finished a respectable fourth in the Grand National when last in action and could feature on his first start after a wind operation, while Knappers Hill is worth noting too.

A fascinating contest can go the way of THE JUKEBOX MAN who looked a top-class prospect last season before injury intervened.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

MA SHANTOU landed a competitive handicap at Cheltenham on last month's comeback. Emma Lavelle's charge is taken defy a 9lb rise given the ease of that success and edge out Ace Of Spades over this trip. The latter scored over 2m4f at Aintree on his reappearance and is likely to prove competitive once again, while Horaces Pearl makes his handicap debut having placed in Listed company at Perth back in April.

There's a good chance NAVAJO INDY (nap) can improve for today's further step up in distance and he's an appealing option in a warm race.

2nd (4) (18/1 -260%)Royale Pagaille |
18/1(-260%) | (4) Royale Pagaille 18/1, Won this in 2023 and 2024; pulled up in Grand National over 4m2f at Aintree latest; effective 3m-3m3f, acts well on testing ground; stays well and won this for last two seasons but softer ground would help. 11yo who struggled at end of last season but has won the last two runnings of this race. |

3rd (5) (14/1 -27%)Stellar Story |
14/1(-27%) | (5) Stellar Story 14/1, Ran slightly below best, possibly finding the ground on the quick side when 18l third in the Champion Novice Chase (Grade 1) over 3m1f at Punchestown most recently; effective from 2m4f to 3m1f, acts on heavy and good ground, looks up against it here. |PU| (2) (3/1 +14%)Haiti Couleurs |
3/1(+14%) | (2) Haiti Couleurs 3/1, Relished stamina test winning a handicap hurdle at Newbury over 3m by 1 1/2l last time; hugely progressive staying chaser, suited by 3m+, acts on any; capable of better and worth this shot at Grade 1 level. Cheltenham Festival/Irish National winner; hard to identify the ceiling of his ability. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

GREY DAWNING was beaten by Royale Pagaille in this contest 12 months ago but a mistake at the last probably cost him the victory that day. He ended last season with a second in the Bowl at Aintree and a repeat of that level of form may well be good enough given this renewal lacks star quality. Haiti Couleurs, who won the National Hunt Chase and Irish Grand National last season, has the benefit of a recent run. However, the eight-year-old still has plenty to find to beat the selection. Any further rain would help Royale Pagaille's chances of retaining his crown. Cases can be made for both Handstands and Stellar Story, but career bests are required from them.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

Despite having to carry plenty of weight, FAMOUS BRIDGE tops the shortlist as Nicky Richards' gelding won this race back in 2023 and rarely runs poorly at this venue. When last seen here, the nine-year-old was first past the post in the Grand National Trial in February and, while he was subsequently disqualified from that success, he could make amends off the same mark following a prep over hurdles three weeks ago. Shomen Uchi remains unexposed and has to be of interest in a first-time tongue-tie, while Duke Of Deception and Konfusion are others to note.

The 8yo SHOMEN UCHI has had an interrupted career but can make it 2-2 over fences on his handicap debut. Konfusion is feared.
Ths is the racecard key.
