Having secured an eighth career victory at Wincanton last month, Lightonthewing merits respect in his follow-up bid. However, a 7lb rise for the veteran does demand more and ILLOGICAL LOGIC is more appealing. Christian Williams has his string in good order and a reproduction of his inmate's latest second at Windsor may prove sufficient. Ithaka and Tuscan Rose are others to consider in an open contest.

In an ordinary race LIGHTONTHEWING is taken to follow up his win at Wincanton last month despite a 7lb rise.

RACE TO BASE impressed here when getting off the mark over timber in November before facing a stiff enough task against a pair of promising novices at Aintree. That said, he still wasn't disgraced and the six-year-old can prove too strong for Looping D'arc, who made a winning start to life over hurdles at Southwell last month. Guardami Ancora and Lady Magic are others to note.

Point and bumper winner LOADED AND LOCKED should be getting off the mark over hurdles sooner rather than later and earns the vote.

VOL ROYALE benefited from dropping in trip and front-running tactics when a comfortable winner over C&D last month and the six-year-old probably wouldn't need to improve from that display to double up. Aguellid has a hood applied after racing keenly on his first start in the UK at Exeter, which may aid his cause. Peter's Last Deal appeals most of the remainder.

This looks weaker than division one and AGUELLID could benefit from the hood on his second run for JP McManus. Vol Royale is feared.

Rodney made it third-time lucky over the larger obstacles at Leicester, but a 7lb rise will require more of him and NOAHSGREATRAINBOW may prove the safer option. Things didn't go to plan over hurdles after a promising bumper campaign that saw him finish second in a Listed contest at Newbury. However, he seems to have turned the corner recently, winning on his chase debut at Wincanton, and he may well continue to progress. Pepe Le Moko completes the shortlist.

Having won in good style on his chase and handicap debut at Wincanton last month, NOAHSGREATRAINBOW can make it 2-2 over fences.

BOLLIN THOU was making just his third start for this yard when justifying favouritism at Uttoxeter on New Year's Eve and the unexposed eight-year-old is hard to oppose on the back of that effort, despite a 7lb rise. Briery Butterfly has made the frame on both starts this season and is likely to be in the mix once again, while Smart Bucks completes the shortlist.

Top of the list is the lightly raced 8yo BOLLIN THOU (nap) who won in good style at Uttoxeter and is open to more progress.

JAMAICAINE had plenty in hand when landing the odds over C&D a month ago and even a 10lb rise might not be enough to stop the seven-year-old from following up. Feet On The Ground may have to settle for second once again, although Time Was and Prairie Queen are others who are likely to be in the mix for the places.

Recent C&D winner JAMAICAINE is taken to follow up although Feet On The Ground and Noble Grace are also of interest.

COOL CUSTOMER displayed plenty of promise when filling second place on his Rules debut at Southwell last month and he could be hard to beat with the benefit of that experience. That'll Be Oxo was third that day and is an obvious threat, while Loch Ness Pineau and Britway Belle were expensive purchases out of the point-to-point field and any market support would have to be noted.

This could go to the bumper newcomer LOCH NESS PINEAU, who changed hands for £100,000 after winning a point in October.
