This isn't a deep contest and the vote goes to TRAMUNTANA. The Fakenham bumper winner has largely struggled over hurdles so far, but he is bred to be better than a mark of 94 so, stepped up in distance and tried in a handicap for the first time, it would come as no surprise to see him find the necessary improvement. Fellow handicap debutant Rocket Rufus warrants closer inspection too, as does Sangiovese, who returns following a 325-day absence.

Support for one of the handicap newcomers would look significant, but previous course winner JACK THE SAVAGE has fallen to a workable mark and could be worth chancing after a break/partnered by Freddie Gingell. The returning Sangiovese didn't entirely convince with his application towards the end of last term but he remains lightly raced and can't be discounted. Rocket Rufus and Tramuntana are a couple of the aforementioned handicap debutants to note.

The suggestion is TRAMUNTANA, who moves up in trip for today's handicap debut and has scope for improvement.

CLOUDY WEDNESDAY defied market expectation to fill the runner-up spot on his seasonal return last month and, if coming on for that run, the nine-year-old ought to go very close in his bid to go one better. Superstylin blotted his copybook when unseating his rider at Lingfield in December but he'd been largely consistent prior to that and could bounce back, while Pleasure Garden is another to consider.

SUPERSTYLIN was let down by a rare jumping lapse at Lingfield last time and is worth another chance to confirm the form of his excellent close second there on return. Cloudy Wednesday looked as good as ever when second on his comeback at Fakenham and is the obvious threat, with Supasunrise best of the others.

The suggestion is possible improver GINGER JONNY, ahead of C&D winners Cloudy Wednesday (second choice) and Supasunrise.

Jax Junior impressed at Doncaster in December before defying a penalty in fine style at Ascot the following month, and Lucy Wadham's gelding merits the utmost respect. However, it may be best to side with CALIFET EN VOL, who bolted up at Kempton in November before finding only subsequent Challow Hurdle winner The New Lion too strong at Newbury next time. That piece of form looks extremely strong now, and he receives a confident vote. Junker D'allier can chase the pair home.

The two with the most appealing profiles are JAX JUNIOR and Califet En Vol, with marginal preference for the former who was utterly dominant from the front at Doncaster and Ascot. There should be more to come from Lucy Wadham's charge and he can take this step up in class in his stride. The form of Califet En Vol's Newbury second received a sizeable boost when the winner followed up in a Grade 1 over Christmas and he is the clear main danger ahead of Secret des Dieux.

Top rated JAX JUNIOR is taken to complete a hat-trick. Califet En Vol is feared most.

La Renommee looked to enjoy the drop in distance when landing a Listed chase over an extended 2m4f at Doncaster 39 days ago and the seven-year-old should give another good account. BRIDES HILL (third) was overturned at cramped odds on that occasion, but improvement could be forthcoming given that was her first outing since May last year and Gavin Cromwell's mare is fancied to exact her revenge. The progressive Telepathique also warrants respect at the foot of the weights.

BRIDES HILL is a level above her opponents and can quickly resume winning ways in a race she landed last year. All 3 of her rivals are potential threats, with likely front-runner Telepathique feared most.

Last year's winner Brides Hill is top rated but her latest effort tempers enthusiasm. Improving TELEPATHIQUE (nap) is preferred.

Brave Jen dug deep to regain the winning thread at Fakenham in December, but a 4lb higher mark may prevent her from following up. With that in mind, this looks a suitable opportunity for fellow last-time-out winner CHICAGO STORM. He ran out a ready scorer of a 17-runner affair at Wincanton last month and an 8lb rise in the ratings might not be enough to anchor him. Handicap debutant Sun Art is also of interest.

CHICAGO STORM ran out a decisive winner of a big-field handicap at Wincanton 3 weeks ago and, with the third already going on to frank the form, he's taken to defy a 6 lb rise in the weights and go in again. This is a competitive race for the level however, with Imaginarium, Dancing In Brazil and Sun Art a trio of interesting rivals.

Having won easily in a big field at Wincanton on his first run for Daisy Hitchins, CHICAGO STORM can make it 2-2 for the yard.

The hat-trick seeking ROCKOLA would likely have finished second but for the leader unseating at the final hurdle here 35 days ago. However, the daughter of Jukebox Jury looks just the type to relish this 3m1f distance and she may unlock enough improvement to defy a 3lb rise. The biggest threat is Tuscan Rose, who has filled the runner-up spot on her last two outings, while Miss Goldfire could also go well.

ROCKOLA was again strong at the line when scoring here in January, so she's fancied to complete the hat-trick with the step up in trip likely to suit. Miss Goldfire, Cluain Aodha and Tuscan Rose are a trio of potential threats.

Being 2-2 in handicaps and a course winner last time, ROCKOLA is preferred. Tuscan Rose is second choice.

It is hard to gauge just how much FORTUNE DE MER had in hand when he won a Listed bumper at Cheltenham's November meeting. However, it was more than enough to suggest he is capable of a big run under a penalty here. Corra Bheinn, whose yard won this last year, and Soldier Saint, who represents the powerful Nicky Henderson yard, are other notable contenders.

FORTUNE DE MER looks a good prospect and can defy a penalty for all there are some appealing newcomers here, headed up by Soldier Saint, Corra Bheinn and Big Wigg.

The clear form pick is FORTUNE DE MER. Soldier Saint, Corra Bheinn and Island Bridge are interesting types.

Point-to-point winner DRACO MALFOY has shown ability on both previous starts in bumpers and rates a key player in what appears to be the weaker of the two divisions. Nathan's Run is feared most after creating a favourable impression when second in a similar event at Uttoxeter on debut in November. Quaviste and Keepmeoutofthis are notable debutants to keep an eye on.

NATHAN'S RUN was a big eye-catcher first time up at Uttoxeter in November and can land the spoils with improvement likely. Quaviste, Caliach Point and Fine Shot head up a band of interesting newcomers.

Royal runner FINE SHOT is an attractively bred debutant and he gets the vote ahead of form choice Draco Malfoy.
Ths is the racecard key.
