King Of The Road supplemented his opening victory at Market Rasen in March when defying a 7lb penalty 10 days later at the same venue. However, a further 10lb hike in the handicap could leave the five-year-old vulnerable and marginal preference is for MISTRAL MILLY. Emma Lavelle's mare found only a progressive rival too strong on her handicap bow at Hereford last month and she looks capable of better. Jaramillo may chase that duo home.

The progressive KING OF THE ROAD can defy the handicapper again and complete a spring hat-trick. Mistral Milly is another 5-y-o going the right way and is second choice ahead of Fautinette, who took a step back in the right direction when third at Wincanton last time.

It's hard to ignore improving KING OF THE ROAD (nap) who can make light of a 10lb hike in the weights and complete his hat-trick

Chatty Chich is sure to prove popular having finished second on her handicap debut at Fakenham in April. A 2lb higher rating is unlikely to prevent another prominent showing from the Dan Skelton-trained mare, but KENTFORD MALLARD may offer more value. The veteran bounced back to form with a runner-up effort on her reappearance over 2m4f at Wincanton last month and a return to her last winning distance could see the daughter of Sulamani land the spoils. Bluebella also warrants a second look.

CHATTY CHICH was well backed prior to an improved showing on handicap debut at Fakenham and, with this longer trip/more conventional track in her favour, she's well fancied to go one better at the possible expense of the reliable Kentford Mallard. Valentine Getaway is another to consider.

Although the second on her handicap debut does not make CHATTY CHICH the form pick, it did show potential and strength of stamina.

JUAN BERMUDEZ wasn't disgraced when finishing sixth in a 14-runner affair at Warwick a fortnight ago and the five-year-old could be worth chancing in an open event. The Nathaniel gelding was a decent stayer on the Flat and this extended 2m4f distance should draw out his stamina. The biggest threat may emerge from Tarras Wood, who needs to dispel a heavy defeat at Wetherby in February, while hurdles debutant Secret Des Dieux cannot be ruled out either.

REALLYNTRUTHFULLY made an encouraging start to his Rules career when fourth in a course bumper a month ago and with this trip sure to suit now hurdling, he could be the answer. Tarras Wood isn't easy to weigh up but is a big danger on the form he displayed when second at Wincanton, with Secret des Dieux also considered for his in-form yard.

The vote goes to JUAN BERMUDEZ who was a fairly useful winning stayer on the Flat and can open his account in this sphere now up in trip

Hystery Bere was beaten into third in a class 3 event at Plumpton in March, but he is 2lb lower and will appreciate this drop in grade under Harry Cobden. However, the vote goes to ONE FINE MAN, who finished over five lengths clear of the third at this level at Bangor on his latest outing and he is only 3lb higher for that display. Declan Carroll's nine-year-old could be the one to beat, while Home Free warrants a market check on his chasing debut.

ONE FINE MAN turned in easily his best effort for his current stable when a close second at Bangor last month and remains on a handy mark up 3 lb. Home Free is an interesting chasing debutant and is another to consider, while Rouge Vif is obviously not the force of old, but he's at least been given a chance by the assessor.

Nephew of a 2m Graded chase winner and newly eased 3lb, HOME FREE can make a winning start over fences, ahead of One Fine Man.

LET'S GO AMIGO has failed to fire on each of his last two starts over the smaller obstacles but he now makes his chasing debut off a career-low mark. Kim Bailey's gelding has cheekpieces reapplied and he just shades the vote ahead of Samtara, who was dropped 3lb for his fourth at Exeter last month. Testflight hit the frame at Wincanton when last seen in October and could also have a say on his return to the fray.

If LET'S GO AMIGO takes to fences at the first time of asking he could be the answer in a race devoid of a standout candidate. Kim Bailey's charge was a good third in a Ludlow handicap hurdle off a 3 lb higher mark last spring, a race he may well have won but for encountering traffic problems at a crucial stage. Chantilly Rose didn't show much over hurdles but she wouldn't be the first from this yard to improve for the switch to fences, while Samtara and What A Steal are others to consider.

It's hard to build a strong case for any of these but SAMTARA ended last season with two fairly good efforts, and is well handicapped.

Berliath finished a well-beaten third behind a stablemate who went on to acquit himself well in Aintree's Grade 2 bumper on his Taunton introduction. He will be expected to step forward, but maybe THE LONG POINT can make a successful start to his Rules career because the form of his point-to-point third in Ireland seems decent. He sold for 60,000 pounds after it, not much more than Octo Gane changed hands for as a three-year-old. Sayva, John Barbour and Dawn Parade are other interesting first-timers.

BERLIATH may leave his Taunton form behind and could be the way to go. Dawn Parade and Step Ahead are a couple of the interesting newcomers.

Don Cantillon's first rules runner since a debut bumper winner in autumn 2022, STEP AHEAD is taken ahead of Octo Gane.

A Sir Mark Prescott bumper runner is always worth a second look, especially one with the pedigree of PATCH MAN, who is a half-brother to the ill-fated Grade 1 winner Sir Erec. He changed hands for 100,000 euros as a foal, and again for 85,000gns just under a year later, and is preferred to Handfulofpromises, who showed ability when second between the flags in Ireland. Jessie Jump Jet makes plenty of appeal on breeding and is in receipt of all the allowances.

This will probably be fought out by newcomers, with PATCH MAN taken to see off Handfulofpromises and Jessie Jump Jet.

This can go to a Sir Mark Prescott-trained runner for the second year running, PATCH MAN gaining the nod over Jessie Jump Jet.
