Real Stone bounced back to form in no uncertain terms when ridden positively at Wetherby last month and the 10-year-old must be respected off 6lb higher. Preference, however, is for HELNWEIN. Alan King's charge made an extremely promising start to life over fences when filling the runner-up spot at Warwick, shaping like the best horse in the race. He's disappointed twice since then, but recent wind surgery could work the oracle. Gallic Geordie is another to consider.

REAL STONE could have been called the winner from a long way out when making all at Wetherby 4 weeks ago so can defy a 6 lb rise. Helnwein is feared most back on better ground.

Preference is for six-time course winner BOLLINGERANDKRUG, who returned to form with a fair third over C&D last time.

GREY DAWNING wasn't at his best in the King George on Boxing Day, but this is a much easier assignment and he ought to take all of the beating. Official ratings suggest Iroko will be his biggest danger, but the son of Cokoriko will need to improve on what he's shown over fences so far. The hat-trick seeking El Elefante has a bit to find and will need to take her form to a new level.

Only four runners but still an intriguing contest in which Dan Skelton's Betfair runner-up GREY DAWNING is fancied to bounce back in style from his King George no-show and confirm himself a staying chaser well worth a place at the top table. The progresive Iroko rates much the biggest threat on the back of an eye-catching Cheltenham fourth with the likeable El Elefante no forlorn hope.

It could pay to take on Grey Dawning with Grand National hope IROKO, who should be suited by the step back up in trip.

A few with chances, including Ace Of Spades, who arrives having notched up a brace of victories in maiden/novice company in recent months. A mark of 123 shouldn't be beyond him, but it is MR BRAMLEY who shades preference. Jedd O'Keefe's seven-year-old landed an open Wetherby contest in comfortable fashion last month and, with the prospect of more to come, he might have been underestimated by a subsequent 6lb rise. Chasing hasn't worked out for Gaillimh A Stor, but he could bounce back reverting to hurdles.

MR BRAMLEY has made a very bright start to his hurdling career, resuming winning ways when justifying favouritism in a big-field handicap at Wetherby last time, and he can continue his progress to add to his tally. Ace of Spades isn't taken lightly as his bids for a hat-trick on his handicap debut, while Nab Wood is also considered back at this venue.

The drop back in trip could bear fruit for JOECOOKER on his handicap debut and he earns the vote ahead of Nab Wood.

Having scored under a penalty in ready fashion at Wetherby in January, unbeaten hurdler CHART TOPPER could be set for the top. The six-year-old is the first horse to represent Willie Mullins at this track and he's going to take some stopping. Grade 2 winners Roadlesstravelled and Dedicated Hero warrant respect, but conceding 5lb to the selection makes this really tough and a bigger threat may emerge from easy Ludlow winner Vanderpoel.

An intriguing renewal of this Grade 2, with several highly promising novices on show. CASTLE CARROCK claimed a notable scalp on his debut in this sphere at Sandown and, with the promise of much better to come from this 6-y-o, he could be the answer. Willie Mullins saddles Chart Topper, who is unbeaten in two starts over hurdles and he is feared most ahead of Dedicated Hero and Vanderpoel, while Laganhill is an unknown quantity and he merits respect, too.

The Willie Mullins-trained CHART TOPPER has impressed on his two hurdle starts and he's the pick ahead of Vanderpoel.

VISCHIO created a deep impression when making a winning stable bow in a Listed handicap hurdle at Leopardstown last month. Although a stone extra in the weights requires another career best from Emmet Mullins' mare, she likely has more to come for this yard. Favour And Fortune was far from disgraced when fourth in the William Hill Hurdle at Newbury three weeks ago and the seven-year-old is feared most. Handicap debutant Tellherthename is also respected.

FAVOUR AND FORTUNE plundered a big prize in Scotland last spring and might be able to do so again on the back of a good run in a similarly hot race at Newbury last month. Alan King's strong traveller should prove suited by the return to likely less testing conditions and is preferred to Irish-raider Vischio, whose trainer won this with The Shunter in 2021, and Alnilam. Petrol Head and Tellherthename are other interesting contenders.

The mare VISCHIO (nap) won in fine style on stable debut at Leopardstown and could have lots more to offer for her excellent Irish yard.

A decent sort on the level for previous connections, ELFORLEATHER made a promising start to his hurdles career when second at Southwell last month and, with normal improvement, he is expected to go one better. That may be at the main expense of Maple, who was denied by the narrowest of margins at Catterick most recently. Not beaten too far on his hurdles bow at Market Rasen, Miners Gamble is another open to improvement.

FILIBUSTERING certainly won't lack for stamina now hurdling and sure to be well prepared for this, he's selected to make a winning start for new connections. Elforleather, Miners Gamble and Maple have already displayed ability over obstacles and they can remain competitive.

Those with hurdles form look fair at best and above-average Flat recruit FILIBUSTERING may be up to making a winning start.

Similar to his stable, LEADER IN THE PARK is in top form at present and a further 5lb rise for his most recent success at Warwick may not be enough to prevent him from landing the hat-trick. The seven-year-old gets the vote ahead of Walk On Quest, who is unbeaten in three starts over fences but has a hefty 10lb rise to deal with for winning at Ayr last month. Irish raider Step Out is another to bear in mind.

LEADER IN THE PARK was value for more than the bare margin implies when taking his chase record to 2-3 at Warwick 6 weeks ago and, with further progress in the offing, he gets the nod to complete the hat-trick with his trainer/jockey combination continuing in scintillating form. Walk On Quest is similarly most progressive and comfortably rates the chief threat in search of the 4-timer. Menaggio may do best of the other trio.

Two highly progressive chasers clash and LEADER IN THE PARK is taken to get the better of Walk On Quest.
Ths is the racecard key.
