The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Not the deepest of contests and it might pay to side with the lightly-raced five-year-old BURNING IT UP. Recent efforts wouldn't necessarily point towards a step up to this extended 3m suiting, but his pedigree offers some hope and Dominic Hislop removing a handy 10lb is no bad thing either. Be The Difference arrives following a couple of positive efforts and must enter calculations, while Victory Club is another to consider.

A modest opener. Be The Difference has claims but with this sharp track suited to front-runners, the tentative pick is VICTORY CLUB.

|U| (3) (18/1 -13%)Eloi Du Puy |
18/1(-13%) | (3) Eloi Du Puy 18/1, Ran to form when back down in trip, finishing 4 1/2l third in a handicap hurdle over 2m4f at Ayr last time. Effective around 2m4f and acts on heavy and soft; could progress now chasing. Three course wins over hurdles (2m5f); raced twice last season; set to make chase debut.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Although beaten eight lengths into third at Ayr, it was a positive first spin over fences for ADVERAM. Ian Duncan's gelding was also making his seasonal return that day so with the likelihood of more to come, he might take the necessary step forward. Lucinda Russell and Michael Scudamore saddle two, with Golden Point possibly their leading hope. Frisby, however, shaped as if in need of a step up in trip at Perth and now afforded just that, he could be a bigger threat.

Tricky. FRISBY is back on his correct mark after competing from out of the handicap at Perth, so receives the vote over I Wish You.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (6/1 -50%)Fairlawn Skipper |
6/1(-50%) | (1) Fairlawn Skipper 6/1, Ran to form when 8l third in a handicap hurdle over 3m at Newcastle, not helped by a bad blunder; effective from 2m to 3m and suited by a sound surface; has a good chance back in maiden company. Bumper winner who has been third on all three starts over hurdles; drop in trip no problem. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Stratford bumper winner Fairlawn Skipper is expected to go close having proven consistent over hurdles so far, but so has EAGLES REPRIEVE. The four-year-old sets the standard with an official rating of 111 and, should a step up in trip suit, he is likely to take all the beating. Point-to-point winner Solid Performer makes his debut under Rules as a seven-year-old and market support would be noteworthy.

The choice is EAGLES REPRIEVE, who is bred to stay well and should improve on his three previous hurdle runs now stepped up in trip.

5/6(+44%) | (6) Triple Crown Ted 5/6, Promising hurdle debut when third, just flattening out late after a break, beaten 10l in a novice hurdle here. Effective at 2m and handles soft and good ground. Didn't live up to market expectations when third on last month's C&D (3-1f) hurdles debut.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

9/2(-13%) | (1) Godfrey Bouillon 9/2, Ran a promising debut when beaten 7 1/2l in a bumper at Wetherby; effective at 2m and handles good to soft ground. This is his second run after a wind operation. Weakened in Wetherby bumper (2m; 18-1) last December; tongue-tie goes on for hurdles debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (10/1 -54%)Lance Les Des |
10/1(-54%) | (3) Lance Les Des 10/1, Below form and may have needed the run when well beaten in a maiden hurdle here last time. Effective at 2m on heavy and good to soft ground; may do better once handicapping. Placed in a Perth maiden hurdle (2m; 10-1); off since disappointing over C&D 388 days ago.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (9/2 -35%)Linalene |
9/2(-35%) | (4) Linalene 9/2, Unseated in a novice hurdle here last time. Effective at 2m and handles soft and good ground; form of his penultimate bumper run has been franked. Ability in bumpers; got no further than the first on last month's C&D hurdles debut (9-2).. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (16/1 +11%)Yapper Hill |
16/1(+11%) | (7) Yapper Hill 16/1, A bit keen but showed small improvement following a wind operation when well beaten in a 2m4f maiden hurdle at Hexham last time. Effective at 2m4f on good ground but may need more time. Nothing over hurdles so far to suggest he'll be able to make his mark in this company.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (100/1 -150%)Tiggerelli |
100/1(-150%) | (8) Tiggerelli 100/1, Outpaced and again ran to a moderate level when comfortably held in a mares bumper over 2m1f at Musselburgh last time. Likely to want further than 2m and needs to improve. Starts hurdles career for a new trainer; impossible to consider on all available evidence.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (12/1 +14%)Gorvennec |
12/1(+14%) | (2) Gorvennec 12/1, Didn't get home when well beaten in a maiden hurdle at Newcastle last time. Wears a tongue-tie for the first time; effective at 2m on good ground and may benefit from a wind operation. Placed on hurdles debut at Ayr (2m; beaten 8l) last November; no progress at Newcastle.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Although TRIPLE CROWN TED didn't manage to justify favouritism on his jumping bow over track and trip, there was still plenty of encouragement to take from that third-placed effort. Any improvement should see the five-year-old open his account, possibly at the main expense of stablemate Linalene, who only got as far as the first in the aforementioned C&D race but must not be dismissed. Lance Les Des is also of interest.

Two-time bumper runner-up TRIPLE CROWN TED was third on last month's hurdle debut over C&D and this looks a good opportunity.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (9/4 +36%)Moon Phases |
9/4(+36%) | (1) Moon Phases 9/4, Showed small improvement when fourth, beaten 12l, in a novice hurdle over 2m at Ayr last time; effective at 2m and acts on soft; brings potential to fences. Expensive buy who has shown promise in two 2m hurdles at Ayr; may do better over fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (3/1 +10%)Ballyfort |
3/1(+10%) | (3) Ballyfort 3/1, Improved but was a fortunate winner due to late carnage when landing a handicap by 3/4l off 103 here last time; effective at 2m, acts on soft and good; unexposed over fences. Former pointer; off the mark on third chase start over C&D latest; should go well again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (16/1 +27%)Chumlee |
16/1(+27%) | (6) Chumlee 16/1, Outpaced and needed the run, possibly finding the ground a bit quick when fourth, beaten 20l, in a handicap chase here last time; effective at 2m and suited by plenty of cut; should come on for the run and may do better over slightly further. Dual hurdle winner; fair fourth from out of the h'cap over C&D last time; should do better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (15/2 -88%)Trac |
15/2(-88%) | (2) Trac 15/2, Returned to form down in grade when just flattening out late, beaten 3/4l off 104 here last time; effective from 2m to 2m4f, acts on any ground; on a fair mark if building on that recent revival. Six-time chase winner; good 2nd to Ballyfort over C&D on reappearance; softer going ideal. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (13/2 +19%)Treaty Boy |
13/2(+19%) | (4) Treaty Boy 13/2, Went clear and made bit too much use of when second, beaten 15l, in a handicap chase here last time; effective around 2m and acts on soft and good; inconsistent of late. Brought down 2 out in Ballyfort's race last month (close up); fair run latest; chance. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Ballyfort dug deep to account for Trac over C&D latest and there should be little between them again. Treaty Boy was brought down when still in contention in that event, but has finished a well-beaten second subsequently. Stick With Me Sam has had wind surgery and a break since a Bangor mishap, but MOON PHASES was actually declared for the Mersey Novices' Hurdle at Aintree before being ruled out by good ground. If connections feel he is up to that sort of level, a mark of 105 on his handicap/chase debut is there to be taken advantage of.

In an open race TREATY BOY is taken to win his third race over fences despite not being quite at his best when second here last time.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (5/2 +0%)Joltin N Jiving |
5/2(+0%) | (1) Joltin N Jiving 5/2, Below form and outclassed when well beaten in the Top Novices' Hurdle (Grade 1) at Aintree last time. Effective around 2m and acts on good to soft; surely has more to offer. Winning Irish pointer; won Carlisle novice in February; interesting on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (18/1 -177%)Kingston Narcissus |
18/1(-177%) | (2) Kingston Narcissus 18/1, Running well when falling in a handicap hurdle at Musselburgh last time. Effective at 2m1f and acts on soft and good ground; may need this. Maiden hurdle win and good effort until coming down on h'cap debut last term; interesting. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (22/1 +21%)Rafferty's Return |
22/1(+21%) | (3) Rafferty's Return 22/1, Below form up in grade on a quick return when well beaten in a handicap hurdle over 2m5f here last time. Effective around 2m4f and acts on soft ground; more needed. Wins have all been over 2m3f or more, latest in March 2024; may find this on sharp side. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Brian Hughes got a great tune out of Magnolia over track and trip last month, but has deserted her to partner JOLTIN N JIVING. The Donald McCain-trained five-year-old was out of his depth in the Top Novices' Hurdle at Aintree when last seen, but looked a useful prospect prior to that and could be well treated for his handicap debut. Kingston Narcissus also returns from an absence and was in fine form at Sedgefield prior to a Musselburgh fall. Jaminoz should be fit from the Flat, while Dee's Getaway needs to prove her Ayr triumph wasn't a fluke.

Although facing a stiffer task MAGNOLIA (nap) is taken to follow up last month's C&D win. Joltin N Jiving is next best.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
