Former point-to-point winners Great Pepper and Johnny Dogs both hold similar profiles in that each won well on their debuts under Rules and enter calculations in this ordinary looking novices' hurdle. However, their mandatory 7lb penalties may hand a big advantage to TO CHASE A DREAM, who ran a blinder when second to a 127-rated rival at Wetherby last month. Stoutly-bred on the dam's side, stepping up in trip ought to suit the selection, whose chance is is further boosted by his four-year-old's weight-for-age allowance.

GREAT PEPPER impressed with his attitude when making a successful hurdling debut at Hexham 7 weeks ago and is selected to defy a penalty having been given ample time to get over such an exacting race. To Chase A Dream has shaped well on both his starts over hurdles and is an obvious threat.

The 4yo TO CHASE A DREAM ran into a smart chaser in his second novices' hurdle and he faces nothing of the same calibre here.

SCHALKE has faced much stiffer tests that the one he is tasked with here and, while he needs to significantly better his most recent start, the fitting of a first-time visor might well initiate a revival. It's worth remembering the selection was a convincing winner of this race last year and, although 6lb higher, this is a much weaker renewal, with William Maggs' 7lb a further boost at the weights. Hashtag Boum is also a previous C&D winner and enters calculations, while Kingston Bridge is still of low mileage and is another to bear in mind.

This looks competitive. DUNNET HEAD can't have been right last time and might be worth another chance as his Carlisle win prior to that was promising. Hashtag Boum shaped encouragingly at Sedgefield last time and is much respected back at the scene of her win in April. Imaginary Dragon should also get involved if his stamina holds now stepping up in trip, while Kingston Bridge also shaped well at Hexham last time.

Perhaps IMAGINARY DRAGON will provide the answer if seeing out this longer trip on just his second run for Sandy Thomson.

Despite running from 2lb out of the handicap, DUTY CALLS actually holds a live chance on form and, having run a 121-rated to a neck when second over this course and distance last month, he is dangerous to underestimate, especially when Lewis Stones' 3lb claim is factored into the equation. A dual winner on the hurdles circuit here, Traprain Law is unexposed over fences and is one to monitor closely in the betting, while Ganapathi is another to consider now he is tried with a first-time visor.

TRAPRAIN LAW thrived for Lucinda Russell last term and is fancied to build on a promising chasing debut and bag victory number four for the yard off a handy-looking mark. C&D winner Duty Calls is feared most despite being 2 lb "wrong" in the weights, with Ganapathi appealing as the pick of the rest for minor honours.

Lucinda Russell's TRAPRAIN LAW (nap) liked it here over hurdles and it was a perfectly respectable start he made over fences at Ayr.

It is difficult to look past YOUNG BUSTER, who has made a perfect start to his chase career and stepping up in trip seemed to bring about further improvement when scoring here last month. The seven-year-old can land the hat-trick now at the main expense of Gentleman De Mai, who has been consistent since beginning his career over fences and deservedly got off the mark here on his latest outing. Chase debutant Imperial Merlin is another to note having won three of his six starts over the smaller obstacles.

YOUNG BUSTER had loads to spare when scoring here on return and a rise might not be enough to stop him. Imperial Merlin looks an interesting chasing debutant and is feared most ahead of Gentleman de Mai, who also struck here last month.

Top of the list is GENTLEMAN DE MAI, who was one of two to pull well clear of the others when winning here on his seasonal debut.

IP UP looked in need of a step up in trip when running on well for third over shorter at Musselburgh last month. She gets that opportunity on this occasion and, with the form of that race working out well in the interim, Jedd O'Keeffe's mare may have too much for Nell's Bells, who takes a significant drop in trip, having won over much further at Newcastle in April. Similar Story and Line In The Sand are capable of being in the mix.

Given the promise she has shown in three qualifying runs, SIMILAR STORY is of strong interest now switched to handicap company off a realistic opening mark. The former point winner will also be aided by moving back up in trip (likely to stay further than this in due course). The form of Ip Up's solid effort in defeat last time has been boosted and she is feared most ahead of Line In The Sand.

Preference is for the in-form mare IP UP who remains on a competitive mark and is likely to be suited by this return to further.

WALK ON QUEST was purchased for 100,000 pounds at the Goffs Aintree sale following a runner-up effort in his sole point-to-point outing. The four-year-old boasts an attractive pedigree, with his dam a half-sister to smart 2m chaser Petit Robin, and appears to have been found the ideal opportunity on his Rules debut. Ballyfort shaped with promise on his hurdling bow at Ayr in November and is open to improvement, while Miss Arabella appeals most of the remainder.

The suggestion is Lucinda Russell Irish point recruit WALK ON QUEST, with confidence in his chance increased should the betting vibes be strong. Wolfburg looks an interesting alternative having shown plenty in a Carlisle bumper on his return.

Perhaps the most interesting runner is WALK ON QUEST who fetched £100,000 after finishing second in a point.

GIPSY LEE ROSE needed every yard of the trip to score over C&D on her latest start and the use of Paddy Hanlon's 7lb claim gives her every chance of backing up that success. Onestepatatime was a beaten favourite on her most recent outing at Sedgefield but is capable of leaving that effort behind her. Camp Belan and Don Brocco head the remainder.

A trappy-looking contest, with all six holding a chance. JUST DON'T KNOW's form figures here read 212 prior to a low-key reappearance effort last month and, with that run under his belt and this step back up in trip a plus, he could be the answer. Camp Belan has a good chance of reversing last-time-out C&D placings with Gipsy Lee Rose on these revised terms and is second choice ahead of Onestepatatime.

Thorough stayer JUST DON'T KNOW gets the nod in the hope that last month's reappearance run did him good.
Ths is the racecard key.
