Narrowly denied over C&D last time out when she had the reopposing Sold The Dream (fifth) behind, CHERRY HILL can gain compensation on this occasion at a track where she won last September over 7f. The Spotlight Kid has dropped to mark 9lb lower than his previous success and he must be thereabouts, along with United Force, who had Cobh Harbour (third) narrowly behind over 1m at Chelmsford last month.

Ex Hong Kong-performer RIVER ALWEN has yet to win in Britain but he gave a good account of himself from an unpromising position at Chelmsford 3 weeks ago. On the back of that, he gets the tentative nod in favour of United Force and The Spotlight Kid, who takes a drop in class.

Cherry Hill should go well despite stall 14, but SOLD THE DREAM was only just behind her over C&D latest and can reverse placings.

A half-sister to multiple Group 1-winner Limato, CARLYLE SQUARE has a lofty pedigree to live up to on her debut, but the stable has been going well of late and this looks like a winnable opportunity. The daughter of Wootton Bassett is preferred to Life Is Beautiful, who hails from a family that connections have been successful with in the past. A promising third on debut over C&D last month having been slowly into stride, Scarlet Princess is the pick of those with experience.

Plenty of depth to this maiden with well-related newcomer CARLYLE SQUARE just about the most persuasive option on paper. Life Is Beautiful is another likely type, while Scarlet Princess and Revelance are in the right hands to progress.

Both Revelance and SCARLET PRINCESS shaped with promise on debut and Charlie Appleby's filly is marginally preferred

ZANZOUN may not have progressed as hoped from first to second start when third at Yarmouth, but she still ran with plenty of credit and this appeals as an ideal opportunity to break the maiden. A highly expensive purchase at the sales, Romantic Opera must enter calculations on debut, as well as Lady Ridgewood, who shaped with plenty of promise first time out at Yarmouth when keeping on late in the piece.

Having chased home a subsequent Group 3 winner on debut, ZANZOUN ran to a similar level when third at Yarmouth (1m) 30 days ago, the fact she raced freely not aiding her cause. Remaining with potential, the application of a first-time hood can help now and she's fancied to make a bold bid. Godolphin newcomer Romantic Opera is also worthy of respect, whilst promising pair Lady Ridgewood and Take A Breath are others to note.

Romantic Opera is a well-related newcomer but LADY RIDGEWOOD is fancied to confirm the undoubted promise of her Yarmouth debut

An open contest sees a chance taken on PATCH'S BOND, who caught the eye over 7f at this venue on his first taste of racecourse action in August. Pat Phelan's charge is likely to appreciate this drop in trip after a modest second over 1m4f at Lingfield last time, and it wouldn't take a vast amount of improvement to claim this prize. Tasdeed is feared most after finishing fourth over C&D last time and more is likely to come, while Abbey Law is also worthy of consideration.

TASDEED surpassed his winning debut form when fourth under a penalty in an above-average novice over C&D 3 weeks ago and he looks the answer. Tarqeez will surely improve on her debut effort given her connections so is feared most.

Tasdeed sets a clear standard but TARQEEZ could leave her Newbury debut well behind now upped in distance.

SPIRIT LEAD ME was ahead of the handicapper when defying a 6lb rise when scoring in decisive fashion over 7f at Wolverhampton last time, and he looks primed to bring up the hat-trick. Richard Hughes' runner has has been dealt a hefty 14lb hike, but that doesn't appear to be out of reach. Up The Pace looks to be the biggest danger off the same mark as his length-and-a-quarter third over 7f at Goodwood last month, while Primrose Path can be seen to better effect in nursery company.

SPIRIT LEAD ME was clearly hiding his light under a bushel in his qualifying runs as he's been a completely different proposition in nurseries, thrashing the opposition both starts. His new mark has kicked in but he still may be ahead of the game, so he's awarded the vote in favour of Up The Pace and Miss Collada.

A useful-looking nursery in which UP THE PACE can prove too strong for Valsharah and Spirit Lead Me.

HAPPY HADEDA won in good style over C&D when last seen in September and she can follow up that success on this occasion. The three-year-old won more comfortably than the three-quarters of a length distance may suggest and she can take this 3lb rise in her stride. Smart Hero is likely to pose the most significant questions to the selection off an exploitable-looking mark based on his Southwell success on his penultimate start, while Giant is also noted.

The return to a synthetic surface could be just the ticket for SMART HERO, who impressed when opening his account at Southwell on his penultimate start and the return to 7f ought not to inconvenience him now eased in class. Happy Hadeda made light of an 11-month absence when scoring over C&D 47 days ago and she's feared. Under The Twilight and Giant are others to consider, with Newsreader not discounted, either.

3yos Smart Hero and HAPPY HADEDA (nap) appeal most with Hughie Morrison's filly taken to maintain a flawless course record.

Simiyann justified favouritism by five lengths to make it two wins from his last three starts and he should remain competitive off a 9lb higher rating. However, it may pay to side with TRITONIC, who made the frame at York in August before failing to fire when having a spin over hurdles in the Silver Trophy at Chepstow last time. Alan King's seven-year-old looks well placed to regain the winning thread, while last-time-out winner Cool Party is another to note.

A tight-knit handicap in which TRITONIC edges the vote having posted a very good York third when last seen in this sphere in August. Recent C&D scorer Cool Party rates a big threat however, with Simiyann appealing as the pick of the Ian Williams-trained trio and also firmly in the picture.

Cool Party showed the right attitude over C&D a fortnight ago, but preference is for TRITONIC, who'll find this less competitive.

ART FANTASTIQUE produced a good effort to occupy the runner-up berth over track and trip last month and the handicapper might have been kind to leave his mark alone for that effort. Tom Ward's three-year-old might only need to reproduce that level of form in order to go one better. First Company took the silver medal home over C&D last time and would be foolish to dismiss off 2lb higher, while Lahina Bay can fight it out for the minor honours.

ART FANTASTIQUE's draw makes things tricky but he lines up here on the back of a very good second in a C&D handicap 7 days ago and he could be worth siding with in the hope he gets the breaks. First Company and Don't Fight It are others to consider.

Classy Clarets may go well back at 6f but perhaps LAHINA BAY can defy top weight now that she is reunited with Rhys Clutterbuck.

Silver Nightfall got her head back in front when scoring by a short head in this grade at Chelmsford last time, but the step back up in trip might prove to be the wrong move. With that in mind, the vote goes to ANGEL ROSE, who is bred to be a lot better than a mark of 68. Therefore, she is taken to prove a different proposition now tackling the handicap ranks. Tahitian Prince is the pick of the remainder.

UMBRIA needs to shrug off a lesser effort at Yarmouth 22 days ago, yet she'd previously highlighted she's capable of exploiting this sort of mark, so Ed Walker's filly gets the nod to bounce back returned to this surface. Silver Nightfall comes here thriving and along with handicap debutante Angel Rose, heads up the dangers.

Silver Nightfall looks set to go well again but UMBRIA still has low mileage and her C&D run in August threatened much better.
Ths is the racecard key.
