The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

The impeccably-bred SHIPBOURNE was all the rage for his Newbury introduction and didn't disappoint, landing the odds by more than four lengths. The jury is out as to what he actually beat, but there was no denying he was very impressive and can take the next step up the ladder. Ralph Beckett's colt faces some really interesting newcomers, not least Aqpan, who cost 400,000gns as a yearling and is a half-brother to an Italian Oaks winner. Northern Empire is a 220,000-euro son of Night Of Thunder, while Godolphin's Frankel colt Hidden Force is another first-timer to take into account.

Shipbourne looked useful at Newbury but HIDDEN FORCE is bred to be smart and can enhance his stable's fine record here.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Generous Rascal showed the benefit of a previous outing and his appreciation for the switch to the all-weather when justifying favouritism over C&D. As a result, he must shoulder a penalty and will do well to successfully concede 12lb to YOU'LL THINK OF ME. The daughter of Kingman showed a fair level of ability for Donnacha O'Brien in Ireland, earning a rating of 82, and can strike at the first time of asking for Kevin Philippart De Foy. Blueaway, a 75,000-euro breeze-up purchase, is the most appealing newcomer.

Generous Rascal is open to further progress but conceding 12lb to YOU'LL THINK OF ME may prove beyond him.

10/1(+29%) | (3) Wisetanck 10/1, Below form when beaten 7l in a novice at Southwell last time; looks best at 6f and acts on all-weather; probably little improvement to come and current mark appears about right. Some promise in three AW novice/maiden runs but improvement a must now handicapping. |

85/40(-13%) | (1) Flash Rascal 85/40, Back to form when landing a handicap by 2l off 65 at Chelmsford last time; effective over 5/6f and acts on all-weather; small, stocky colt, drier surface suits and his mark remains reasonable. Strong finish to win at Chelmsford last month (6f; AW debut); that form franked; contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (9/2 +44%)My Dad Tom |
9/2(+44%) | (4) My Dad Tom 9/2, Had every chance but ran below form when beaten 3 1/2l off 68 over 7f at Southwell last time; speedily bred, effective over 6-7f, and was in form until latest effort, remains competitive. Two wins for R Millman in July; up in class for stable debut; cheekpieces now reached for. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

AMERICAN FLIGHT was the outsider of three when attempting to supplement a C&D triumph at Newcastle, but she did so in gutsy fashion and there may be even more to come off just a 1lb higher figure. Flash Rascal improved for the switch to an artificial surface, breaking his duck at Chelmsford, and the third has won since. Torbados and My Dad Tom both drop from 7f with claims, while Wisetanck could leave previous efforts behind now entering the nursery ranks.

The switch to AW saw FLASH RASCAL (nap) run out an impressive winner at Chelmsford and that form has been well advertised since.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Colourband has been gelded since his Salisbury third, which is probably the best form on offer, but he comes up against some really interesting debutants. Heading that list is King's Trail, a Sea The Stars colt out of a Group 3 winner who finished second in the Prix Rothschild. Cockade has a nice blend of speed and stamina in his pedigree but so does WINDBREAKER, whose price rose from 100,000gns as a foal to 375,000gns less than a year later and he gets the nod.

Several well-connected beginners from top yards who could well prove smart prospects so KING'S TRAIL is just a tentative choice.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Studious bounced back to his best at Newcastle last week, but all three of his victories have come on Tapeta and he has something to prove on this surface. TONAL struck on Tapeta at Southwell, but that supplemented a wide-margin Chelmsford triumph and his proven ability on Polytrack means he is fancied to round out the hat-trick. Foreseen got through heavy ground to win at Bath and Louie The Legend also handled testing conditions to go close at Nottingham, but both must back those performances up here.

Three of these won their latest starts but TONAL makes most appeal, having beaten two next-time winners when last seen in October.

66/1(-164%) | (5) Boston Run 66/1, Failed to find much when beaten 8l in a 12f Lingfield handicap last time. Effective between 8f and 10f on the all-weather but looks on a stiff enough mark still. 11-race maiden; down the field on stable debut (1m4f) 11 days ago; risky dropped in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (2) (28/1 -100%)Exposay |
28/1(-100%) | (2) Exposay 28/1, Far too free when beaten 4l in a 7f Redcar handicap last time. Cheekpieces go on for the first time and she has a wide draw. Effective over 7f on the all-weather but yet to shine in three handicaps. Struggled in handicaps following her Thirsk maiden win; cheekpieces now added. |

10th (10) (40/1 -60%)Read All About It |
40/1(-60%) | (10) Read All About It 40/1, Did too much too soon after missing the break when comfortably held in a Nottingham handicap last time. Returns from a break; effective on good to firm and all-weather surfaces; consistent in maidens and can do better in handicaps. Absent since a low-key handicap debut in July; earlier efforts promised better; unexposed. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

I'M WORKIN ON IT has found his niche as a Kempton handicapper, winning here in August before a close-up fourth and a narrow defeat. All of those efforts came at 7f, but he stayed on all the way to the line last time so the extra furlong should play to his strengths. Rainwater got closest to an easy winner at Wolverhampton but a bigger threat may come in the shape of Final Night, who struck over C&D prior to making the frame at Nottingham.

Law Supreme is interesting but I'M WORKING ON IT is on the up and could progress again now upped to 1m for the first time.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (6/5 +31%)Chancellor |
6/5(+31%) | (7) Chancellor 6/5, Improved after a wind operation when winning a handicap here over 7f by a neck last time. This is his second run since the procedure. Effective at 7f on a sound surface. Well regarded earlier in his career and may progress further as the surgery appears successful. Gelded/wind op prior to last month's 7f win here; 1m should suit; not fully exposed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (17/2 -13%)Tyrrhenian Sea |
17/2(-13%) | (5) Tyrrhenian Sea 17/2, Stopped quickly and appeared amiss when well beaten in the Diomed Stakes (Group 3) over 9f at Epsom last time. Effective from 8f to 10f. All his best form is on the all-weather, where he is a dual Listed winner and should bounce back. Reliable performer on AW; another bold bid on the cards back from a break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (13/2 0%)Ebt's Guard |
13/2(0%) | (1) Ebt's Guard 13/2, Ran to form when second, beaten 2l, in the Robin Hood Stakes (Listed) at Nottingham last time. Drawn wide but effective at 8f. Acts on soft, good to firm, and all-weather surfaces. Tough, progressive and capable stepping up in grade. Improving all the time, finishing second in a Listed race at Nottingham latest; contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (22/1 -10%)Flight Plan |
22/1(-10%) | (2) Flight Plan 22/1, Had the run of the race and ran to form when beaten 7l in the Joel Stakes (Group 2) at Newmarket last time. Returns from a short break. Suited by 1m and acts on good to soft and good ground. Inconsistent of late and possibly a bit flattered last time. Useful form when winning at Thirsk in May; less good since; others appeal more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (9/2 +47%)Torito |
9/2(+47%) | (4) Torito 9/2, Ran to form when 3l third in the James Seymour Stakes (Listed) over 10f at Newmarket last time. Suited by 10f and acts on all surfaces. Temperament a slight concern but generally consistent. Third in Listed event at Newmarket last month (1m2f); AW debut; yard also runs Chancellor. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (40/1 -60%)Brian |
40/1(-60%) | (6) Brian 40/1, Far too free when finishing down the field in a handicap here last time. Effective at 6f to 7f and acts on soft, good to firm, and all-weather surfaces. Had hinted at a return to winning form before that effort. Good 2nd at Newbury on penultimate start but he looks up against it at this level. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (66/1 -230%)Rubies From Burma |
66/1(-230%) | (8) Rubies From Burma 66/1, Outclassed and finished down the field in the Prix Goldikova (Listed) at Deauville last time. Returns from a break. Effective at 1m and acts on a sound surface. Needs to confirm that her Kempton form was no fluke. Listed-placed over C&D in March; more on her plate tackling male opposition. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

Chancellor benefited from being gelded and a wind operation when scoring here in handicap company. The extra furlong is unlikely to be an issue, but the standard HOLLOWAY BOY sets might just be a bridge too far. The five-year-old placed second twice in Group 2 company and took third in the Jebel Hatta in Dubai before returning with a fine effort against a very progressive type in the Balmoral at Ascot, and this should set him up nicely for going back overseas. The consistent Ebt's Guard and Torito are others to consider.

Chancellor is a big player up in trip and class but HOLLOWAY BOY, who ran a fine race at Ascot in October, may have his measure.

1st (5) (17/2 -6%)Mythical Composer |
17/2(-6%) | (5) Mythical Composer 17/2, Ran to form when fourth, beaten 4l in a 6f handicap at Wolverhampton last time. Wears cheekpieces for the first time; effective from 6f to 7f and acts on the all-weather; holding solid form. Yet to win a handicap but usually gives his running; cheekpieces now given a go. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (6/1 +14%)Metaverse |
6/1(+14%) | (2) Metaverse 6/1, Returned to form on his second start since a wind operation, beaten 1/2l off 82 here last time. Suited by 7f and the all-weather; below his last winning mark and could build on that revival. In and out this year but latest C&D third came in a better race; involved with a repeat. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (7/1 +30%)Stenmark |
7/1(+30%) | (6) Stenmark 7/1, Poorly placed in a race dominated from the front, ridden to see out the trip and beaten 6l in an 8f handicap at Chelmsford last time. Effective at 7f and acts on the all-weather; remains on a fair mark if staying the trip. Two good runs for new yard this summer; not at the same level on last two runs; unexposed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (22/1 -238%)Arctician |
22/1(-238%) | (7) Arctician 22/1, Returned to form down in grade, landing a handicap by a neck off 75 here last time. Suited by 7f and the all-weather, just about stays 1m; seems refreshed after a layoff but the handicapper has reacted. Multiple C&D winner, including last time; up 3lb but should make another bold bid. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (17/2 +58%)Silver Samurai |
17/2(+58%) | (3) Silver Samurai 17/2, Had too much to do when beaten 3l off 83 here last time. Usually held up and returns after a short break; probably needs 7f nowadays and acts on the all-weather; in moderate form but the handicapper is easing. Chance on this year's C&D best but he needs to ease into a 0-80 to give him a lift. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (7/4 +75%)United Approach |
7/4(+75%) | (1) United Approach 7/4, Returned to form when benefitting from a pace collapse, beaten 1/2l off 82 at Wolverhampton last time. Effective from 6f to 7f and acts on the all-weather; mark looks high enough, needs to build on that recent revival. Good second at Wolverhampton last week; solid claims off the same mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (18/1 +45%)Follow Your Heart |
18/1(+45%) | (4) Follow Your Heart 18/1, Had every chance but ran below form when beaten 6 1/4l in a handicap here last time. Suited by 7f and the all-weather, though his mark looks tough in this sphere. Multiple C&D winner; not at best last time but on a winning mark and not discounted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) (12/1 -118%)How Impressive |
12/1(-118%) | (9) How Impressive 12/1, Quickened well to return to form down in grade, making all to land a handicap by a neck off 73 here last time. Effective at 7f on the all-weather; still on a competitive mark and could follow up. Made all over C&D six weeks ago (Class 5); still has handicapping scope up 3lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (8) (5/2 -25%)Freddie's Star |
5/2(-25%) | (8) Freddie's Star 5/2, Quickened clear readily to outclass rivals when winning a novice at Chelmsford by 2l last time. Effective from 6f to 7f and acts on the all-weather; consistent and starts handicapping from a fair opening mark. Didn't have to match best form to win weak novice last time; more required on h'cap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (10) (80/1 -142%)Riot |
80/1(-142%) | (10) Riot 80/1, Scored by a neck off 73 at Wolverhampton three starts back. Unsuited by testing ground when 13th, beaten 16l off 77 last time. Effective at 7f and acts on the all-weather; was in fair form before that run. Been better than this in his time; starts out for a new stable and likely best watched. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

FREDDIE'S STAR was presented with a simple opportunity to shed the maiden tag at Chelmsford and duly obliged at the fourth attempt. Now sent into handicap company, Roger Teal's gelding looks open to further improvement. Arctician bounced back over C&D last month and has to be respected off 3lb higher, while the application of cheekpieces may aid the cause of Mythical Composer.

Metaverse and United Approach can feature but STENMARK is given another chance to tap back into this summer's promise.

1st (5) (13/8 +19%)Mission Possible |
13/8(+19%) | (5) Mission Possible 13/8, Ran to form, just tiring late on when beaten 2 1/4l off 68 over 1m6f at Redcar last time. Trainer in form; effective 12-16f and acts on a sound surface; on a fair mark and should go well down in trip. Seven-race maiden but in the frame on last three starts and the drop in trip can help. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (7/2 0%)Nivelle's Magic |
7/2(0%) | (1) Nivelle's Magic 7/2, Ran to form when beaten 1/2l off 66 over 12f at Newbury last time. Effective over 12f and acts on good to soft and all-weather; consistent and another good run is likely. Steadily progressive for Dan Horsford this year; up in weights but bold bid expected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (9/4 +55%)Mandana |
9/4(+55%) | (2) Mandana 9/4, Probably unsuited by the soft ground when well beaten in a handicap over 10f at Newbury latest. Effective from 8f to 10f and acts on all-weather; return to this surface a plus but has a bit to prove after two below-par runs. Starts out for new yard off a reduced mark; up in trip; stable also runs Little Miss India. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (18/1 -13%)Fool Again |
18/1(-13%) | (4) Fool Again 18/1, Again well below 2024 form when well beaten in a handicap over 8f at Chelmsford latest. Cheekpieces tried and effective at 7-8f; acts on all-weather; currently out of form. Promise as a 2yo but well held in 3 handicaps this year; up 3f in trip; not a solid option. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (4/1 -100%)Little Miss India |
4/1(-100%) | (3) Little Miss India 4/1, Scored by 3l off 59 at Southwell three starts back and ran to form when third beaten 1l off 65 last time. Cheekpieces first time; suited by 10-12f and acts on a sound surface; looks progressive. Ready win at Southwell (1m3f) in October and placed in both runs since; cheekpieces added. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Nivelle's Magic has been knocking on the door, most recently when a close-up second at Newbury, and she's likely to be in the mix once more. However, a further 3lb rise will only make life more difficult for Dan Horsford's mare and LITTLE MISS INDIA may prove to be better treated. The four-year-old arrives on the back of a third-placed effort at Southwell and edges the vote off an unchanged mark. Mission Possible is the pick of the remainder.

Mission Possible can go well dropped in trip but the reliable NVELLE'S MAGIC can record her third win of the year.
Ths is the racecard key.
