Asmeralda and Zupa Trupa are two very interesting newcomers to keep an eye on in this novice heat, but experience may win the day and PIERCHIC can give her rivals weight and a beating. Charlie Appleby's filly improved for her debut third at Wolverhampton and the change of tactics saw her make all in determined fashion at Chelmsford. There should be more to come.

Asmerelda is the pick of the three interesting newcomers but PIERCHIC can defy a penalty and follow up her Chelmsford win.

It will be interesting to see what the market makes of newcomers Twinkle Belle, Nochebuena, Lotus and Botagoz. All of them are respected, but preference is for ARETI, who was a bit disappointing at Newmarket last time but did make a debut full of promise there in October. Beaten just a length and a half into third that day, she's a big player on that form.

The betting can help sort out the newcomers but ARETI should find this easier than the Newmarket events she has been contesting.

He's finished second on each of his last three outings and is well drawn to get a prominent position early doors. Red Mirage is a C&D winner who must be taken seriously, while Kev might represent some each-way value in this handicap.

The addition of cheekpieces may enable LEXINGTON JET to get off the mark. Tenbob Tommy is second choice.

BECCADELLI should appreciate going back up to 7f on his nursery debut and warrants the utmost respect given his connections and very creditable fourth-placed effort in a Newmarket maiden in September. Galileo Island has experience on his side and has won two of his last three starts, so is another must for the shortlist. Keep an eye on Gorey Gold too.

Beccadelli should be involved but STARLIGHT SAMI, who has shaped nicely over 6f, can improve for the longer distance.

Look no further than NATION'S HOPE. He looked a potential Group horse when making a sparkling debut over C&D last month and should be well up to giving these rivals weight and a beating, before he goes up in class. Killer Whale will need to improve markedly from his Southwell introduction, so perhaps the battle for second will be between the newcomers Genuine Warrior and Our Guy.

Bright prospect NATION'S HOPE should defy a penalty for his impressive C&D success. Genuine Warrior may prove best of the rest.

COMEDIAN LEADER arrives here on a hat-trick and is difficult to oppose given she's won with plenty in hand on both occasions at Lingfield on the turf. Switching to this track shouldn't inconvenience her either, as she's a previous course scorer, and everything points to a bold showing. Hunky Dory has been knocking on the door and is next best, ahead of Hierarchy.

Bottomweight PRODIGAL SON is taken to get off the mark. Fellow maiden Hunky Dory is second choice.

Now he's got that winning feeling, he could kick on and make light work of a 5lb penalty. Soar Above is a three-time C&D winner and could easily run into a place here, while My Boy Harry is also noted.

Homme De Fer is on the up but MY BOY HARRY has been in good form since a visor went on and he is marginally preferred.

A competitive finale for punters to solve and just a tentative vote is for THE COLA KID. On the evidence of his latest effort over 7f, the eight-year-old should really appreciate coming back to 6f for this assignment and the quick turnaround (nine days) suggests he's well. Pinjarra won well at Southwell and commands respect, as does Papa Don't Preach.

A trappy race but SOUTHBANK won well here in October and had excuses when only fourth last time. Albert Cee needs a market check.
