1st (1) (2/1 -140%)Followcato |
2/1(-140%) | (1) Followcato 2/1, Travelled, did it readily although race completely fell apart when landing a handicap by 24l off a 8lb lower mark at Hereford last time; enjoys making it; effective 2m3f-2m5f; progressing over fences and fair chance of a four-timer. Arrives in pursuit of a four-timer; 8lb higher than last time but still respected.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (5/6 +63%)Major Fortune |
5/6(+63%) | (2) Major Fortune 5/6, Travelled best but too much to do after a series of errors, ran to form when second beaten 5l off 122 last time, same mark here; effective 2m4f-3m, acts on any; back in form and fair chance in this. Improved since the cheekpieces went on and likely to make his presence felt again.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (9/2 -13%)Taita Hills |
9/2(-13%) | (3) Taita Hills 9/2, Staying on and looking booked for second when fell late in a handicap chase at Newbury latest; off a short-break; effective 2m-2m7f, acts on soft and good to soft; unexposed over fences and remain competitive. Fell latest, but he's open to progress over fences and remains on a workable mark.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

FOLLOWCATO hasn't looked back since getting off the mark at Ludlow in December with the seven-year-old scoring twice since at Exeter and Hereford. Ben Pauling's charge is improving at a fair rate of knots and an 8lb rise might not stop him from continuing on his merry way. Major Fortune remains on the same mark as his second at Newbury last month, while Taita Hills is capable of better than what he has shown so far over fences.

Followcato and Major Fortune are respected, but preference is for the less exposed TAITA HILLS.

1st (1) (11/1 -144%)Begin The Luck |
11/1(-144%) | (1) Begin The Luck 11/1, May have found ground too testing when fifth beaten 20l off 95 last time; effective 2m4f, acts on any going; generally running well of late over fences. On a good mark and cheekpieces return but it's hard to be confident given his current form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (11/4 -100%)Eric Carmen |
11/4(-100%) | (3) Eric Carmen 11/4, Improved again back chasing when landing a handicap by 1 1/4l off a 4lb lower mark at Market Rasen last time; enjoys making it; effective 2m-2m4f, acts on any; progressive veteran with more to come as a chaser. Has thrived since returning from a break in December; very much a leading contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (17/2 -6%)Jack Doyen |
17/2(-6%) | (5) Jack Doyen 17/2, Found little again when comfortably held in a handicap chase at Wincanton last time; effective 2m4f, acts on any; generally consistent but often finishes weakly. Sliding mark offers hope on old form but needs to rediscover spark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (10/1 +29%)Ultra Viers |
10/1(+29%) | (4) Ultra Viers 10/1, Bit keen and again below form when comfortably held in a handicap chase at Lingfield last time; off a short-break; effective 2m4f-3m on a sound surface; modest maiden under rules. Glimpses of promise but soundly beaten last time and he's a 22-race maiden under rules. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (5/6 +67%)River Run Free |
5/6(+67%) | (2) River Run Free 5/6, Ran to form off new mark when third beaten 11l off 91 last time, 1lb lower here; blinkers first time; effective 2m4f-3m, acts on heavy and good to soft; in good form and likes it here. Two-time course winner who is respected now back at this venue, with rider's claim a plus. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

ERIC CARMEN appears to have found a new lease of life this season, having won on three occasions, and a 4lb rise for his Market Rasen success seems to be very fair. However, he does face an interesting rival in the shape of River Run Free, who won here over further in January before a mediocre effort at Ffos Las. Begin The Luck has dropped to his last winning mark and isn't without a chance.

The combination of Rian Corcoran's claim, better ground, and new headgear could see RIVER RUN FREE land a third course success.

More required off a career-high mark, but the step back up in trip may help; considered.. |

13/8(+75%) | (6) Ronnies Reflection 13/8, Ran to form at favoured venue beaten 3l off this mark here last time; effective 2m4f-2m7f, suited by cut; more consistent of late. May need more for the win but he likes it here and another good run can be expected.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (4/1 -33%)Subtle Fortune |
4/1(-33%) | (3) Subtle Fortune 4/1, Improved up in trip on chase debut though a fortunate winner due to late faller landing a handicap by 21l off a 2lb lower mark at Hereford last time; effective at around 3m, suited by cut; may have bit more to offer over fences. May have been lucky to win on chase debut last time, but she's respected off 2lb higher.. |

40/1(-60%) | (1) Flemenstide 40/1, Needed run on chase debut when fourth beaten 65l in a handicap chase at Doncaster latest; trainer in form; effective 2m4f-3m on soft and good; needs to prove ability remains following long layoff. Should have come on for last month's return from a long absence, but likely best watched.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

FAY CE QUE VOUDRAS bids for a hat-trick of victories at this track after winning twice last month. The handicapper raised her 7lb, which matches the penalty given for the latest success last Tuesday, and it wouldn't be a huge surprise if she had more in the locker. Subtle Fortune was a fortunate winner on her chasing bow at Hereford but she did improve on her hurdles form and is noted. One Last Glance and Esperti can fight it out for the minor honours.

The 10yo mare FAY CE QUE VOUDRAS (nap) can complete her hat-trick, with Ronnies Reflection possibly emerging as her main threat.

18/5(+40%) | (5) Taxus Baccata 18/5, Good effort back chasing after a wind op when second beaten 18l in a handicap chase at Wetherby latest; effective 2m3f-2m5f, acts on soft and good; may come on for latest and mark has eased. Needs to build on her effort following wind surgery last time, but that's possible.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (6/4 -80%)Molto Bene |
6/4(-80%) | (1) Molto Bene 6/4, Improved again up in class when runner-up in a Listed chase at Newbury latest; off a short-break; effective 2m4f-3m, acts on soft and good; progressive, unexposed as a stayer. The clear form pick, now back in a handicap after two solid efforts in Listed company.. |

9/2(+25%) | (3) Theonewedreamof 9/2, Never in it from off the pace when pulled up in a handicap chase at Ludlow latest; effective 2m3f-3m; bounce back needed. Pulled up latest, but a bounce-back would not surprise; in good form earlier in season.. |

16/1(+0%) | (4) Gazette Bourgeoise 16/1, Again below form when pulled up in a handicap chase latest; effective 2m4f-3m, acts on heavy and good; bounce back needed and mark remains high. Not at best since Fakenham win and hard to predict, but she's capable if in the mood.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (3/1 +14%)Demoiselle Kap |
3/1(+14%) | (2) Demoiselle Kap 3/1, Bit below form, tiring late on ground softer than ideal 23l third in a handicap hurdle at Catterick most recent run; effective around 2m, acts on soft and good; of some interest back chasing. Yet to fire this term, but enters calculations on the pick of last season's efforts.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Since beginning her chasing career with a Bangor/Huntingdon double, MOLTO BENE has been set some stiff assignments but has emerged with plenty of credit. She filled the runner-up berth in a Listed event over hurdles at Doncaster before chasing home the high-class Panic Attack back in this sphere at Newbury, so a mark of 122 definitely seems workable. Taxus Baccata made a solid enough start for her new yard when second at Wetherby and the winner has franked the form since. Demoiselle Kap should appreciate the return to the larger obstacles.

Clear preference is for MOLTO BENE who looks to have been found an inviting opportunity to record a third win of the campaign.

1st (1) (9/5 -64%)Falco Des Pins |
9/5(-64%) | (1) Falco Des Pins 9/5, Ran to form to get off the mark, good attitude when landing a handicap by a neck off a 6lb lower mark at Ludlow last time; effective 2m-2m2f, acts on heavy and soft; good chance of following up off new mark. Cosy scorer at Ludlow 16 days ago; up 6lb but he still looks the one to beat. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (3/1 +33%)Night Jet |
3/1(+33%) | (5) Night Jet 3/1, Back to form, just tiring late on quick return when second beaten 8l in a handicap chase here latest; trainer in form; effective 2m-2m4f, acts with cut; chance if blinkers work as well a second time. Blinkered when a very good C&D second latest; likely player if headgear has same effect. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (4/1 +60%)Urblereagh |
4/1(+60%) | (4) Urblereagh 4/1, Pulled way to front and did too much too soon on chase debut when fourth beaten 14l in a handicap chase here latest; effective 2m; can do better over fences when settling. Solid start in this sphere with C&D fourth latest; no forlorn hope if building on that. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (5/2 +55%)Lucky Lugger |
5/2(+55%) | (2) Lucky Lugger 5/2, Ran to form when 8 1/4l third in a handicap chase here most recent run; effective 2m, may need some cut; has dropped in weights and hinting at better recently. Better than of late when C&D third 22 days ago; he needs considering eased 2lb. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Falco Des Pins was sent off a shade of odds-on at Ludlow, but had to dig deep to justify it. He may have pulled out more if required, but a 6lb higher mark is still a concern and he is passed over in favour of GRAIN TRADE. The Billy Aprahamian-trained seven-year-old weakened over 2m3f at Market Rasen and is selected instead thanks to his previous second to a subsequent winner over an extended 2m at Huntingdon. Night Jet and Lucky Lugger took minor honours over C&D and little should separate them again.

Venetia Williams' FALCO DES PINS got off the mark over fences at Ludlow with something to spare and can defy a 6lb rise.

1st (3) (4/5 +36%)Snipe |
4/5(+36%) | (3) Snipe 4/5, Unsuited by heavy ground when fourth beaten 39l in a hunter chase at Taunton latest; effective 2m4f-3m ideally; in fair form until latest and drop in trip an interesting move. Drops to 2m, but he's a leading contender with fewer questions to answer than most.. |

2nd (1) (5/2 -25%)Densworth |
5/2(-25%) | (1) Densworth 5/2, Below form on point debut when well beaten in the Mixed Open Point at Friars Haugh latest; effective up to 2m4f on a sound surface; drop in trip may help on hunter chase debut. Pulled up in a point latest, but a return to his best would put him firmly in the picture.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (7/2 -40%)A Jet Of Our Own |
7/2(-40%) | (2) A Jet Of Our Own 7/2, Outpaced, unsuited by track when 70l third in a hunter chase at Hereford most recent run; effective 2m-2m5f; ran well at Aintree last year, must bounce back to that level and trip may be too short. Has something to find with Snipe on their Hereford run, but not entirely dismissed.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (28/1 +44%)Calidad |
28/1(+44%) | (4) Calidad 28/1, Another poor effort back from an absence when pulled up in a restricted point at Larkhill latest; off a long absence; effective up to 3m; has it all to prove. Maiden point winner who will need to produce a career best to figure here.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

SNIPE claimed the scalp of Stattler at Hereford before finishing a well-beaten fourth at Taunton. He paid the price for eyeballing a smart hunter chaser in bottomless ground, though, and can be given another chance. A Jet Of Our Own was a long way behind Dan Skelton's inmate at Hereford and a bigger threat might come in the shape of Densworth, who ran at the Cheltenham Festival a year ago and blew the cobwebs away between the flags recently.

The Dan Skelton-trained SNIPE looks the one to beat with fewer questions to answer than most. A Jet Of Our Own is second choice.
Ths is the racecard key.
