1st (5) (13/2 -30%)Cousin Kate |
13/2(-30%) | (5) Cousin Kate 13/2, Improved again when going clear with ease to land a handicap by 6l off a 10lb lower mark at Cork last time. Effective at 2m-2m4f and arrives progressive, holding a leading chance in this. Up a total of 18lb for wins at Limerick and Cork, rider's claim is a significant asset. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (11) (25/1 -56%)Dameauscottlestown |
25/1(-56%) | (11) Dameauscottlestown 25/1, Travelled well and did it easily when landing a handicap by 4l off a 15lb lower mark at Punchestown last time. Effective at 2m-2m4f; progressing, but her new mark demands more. Came good at Punchestown in her first handicap, may be capable of further progress. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (16/1 +52%)Whimsy |
16/1(+52%) | (6) Whimsy 16/1, Made mistakes and was hampered when the race may have come too soon in the Grade 2 Royal Bond Novice Hurdle at Fairyhouse last time. Consistent at 2m and returns to hurdling on a fair mark. Record of one win and eight seconds is off-putting, has been keeping good company. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (19) (20/1 +70%)Maxios Prime |
20/1(+70%) | (19) Maxios Prime 20/1, Travelled well but tired late when well beaten in the Listed QuinnBet Handicap Hurdle at Limerick last time. Effective at 2m-2m2f; her run style requires luck but she is in form on a fair mark. Should be better for a run at Limerick but will need a career-best to feature, 2lb wrong. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (11/1 -83%)Siog Geal |
11/1(-83%) | (4) Siog Geal 11/1, Had every chance and ran to form when doing plenty early before being beaten 3l off a 3lb lower mark at Cheltenham last time. Effective at 2m-2m4f; consistent and looks well treated on her spring form. Useful standard of form of Britain, interesting runner but may find the locals too good. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (17) (20/1 +39%)Onefortheditch |
20/1(+39%) | (17) Onefortheditch 20/1, Improved and found plenty under a positive ride when landing a handicap by 3 1/2l off a 6lb lower mark at Limerick last time. Effective at 2m-3m; more needed up in grade but arrives in form. Has enjoyed a spell of consistent form mixing between hurdle and fences, up in grade here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (12/1 +14%)Carried With Love |
12/1(+14%) | (2) Carried With Love 12/1, Ran to form and did best of those up with the pace when second, beaten 4 1/2l, in a handicap hurdle at Limerick last time. Effective at 2m4f-2m6f; consistent, with a fair chance now wearing a visor for the first time. Has shown a consistent level of form, worth considering on form linked to Cousin Kate. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (16) (50/1 +24%)Tequila Talkin' |
50/1(+24%) | (16) Tequila Talkin' 50/1, Made mistakes when recording another poor handicap run, well beaten in a handicap hurdle here last time. Effective at 2m-2m4f, but her current mark looks on the stiff side. Form in handicaps is unconvincing, others have much stronger credentials. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (9) (11/2 +31%)Shoda |
11/2(+31%) | (9) Shoda 11/2, Ran to form when third in a maiden hurdle at Clonmel last time. Effective around 2m; consistent in a short career and looks of interest now moving into handicap company. Two wins on the Flat, relatively unexposed over hurdles, notable jockey booking. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (1) (20/1 -100%)Galileo Dame |
20/1(-100%) | (1) Galileo Dame 20/1, Below her Graded level back hurdling after a Flat spell when second, beaten 1/2l, in a maiden hurdle at Limerick last time. Effective at 2m-2m4f; a classy maiden who may be well treated on this handicap debut. Flat winner, Grade 1 second as a juvenile here last year, still a maiden, big burden here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (13) (33/1 -65%)Arctic Flame |
33/1(-65%) | (13) Arctic Flame 33/1, Travelled well and improved up in trip when just outlasted, beaten 3/4l, off a 2lb lower mark at Gowran Park last time. Effective at 2m-2m4f; progressing and the slight drop in trip looks a plus. Second over a longer trip at Gowran in her first handicap, overall form is solid. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (12) (11/2 +45%)True Testimony |
11/2(+45%) | (12) True Testimony 11/2, Conceded first run but finished a fair fifth back over hurdles here last time. Cheekpieces are applied for the first time and a notable jockey is booked; return to further is in her favour. Runs off a mark 16lb below her chase rating, definite chance, Jack Kennedy booked. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (15) (16/1 -113%)Adrienne |
16/1(-113%) | (15) Adrienne 16/1, Improved when ridden to pick up the pieces, finishing second beaten 11l in the Grade 2 Juvenile Hurdle here last time. Effective at 2m and appeals more than most on her handicap debut. Form ties in with several high-class juveniles, in at the deep end against her elders now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (10) (13/2 +7%)May Call You Back |
13/2(+7%) | (10) May Call You Back 13/2, Ran to form when second over fences at Navan last time, tried in a hood, with the trainer in form. Effective at 2m-2m4f; progressive for her new yard and can go well again back hurdling. 14lb higher than when beating Cousin Kate at Gowran, second in a chase latest, respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
15th (18) (28/1 +15%)Kimy |
28/1(+15%) | (18) Kimy 28/1, May not have stayed when stepping up in trip and finishing down the field in a handicap hurdle at Punchestown last time. Effective at 2m-2m4f; inconsistent overall. Only one win from 21 starts, poor run last time after a 13l third behind Cousin Kate. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
16th (14) (14/1 +58%)Aruntothequeen |
14/1(+58%) | (14) Aruntothequeen 14/1, Ran to form when beaten 8 1/2l in a handicap hurdle here last time. Cheekpieces are tried for the first time; effective at 2m-2m4f but needs more in a competitive handicap. Bumper winner is a maiden over hurdles, mild encouragement from her run at Christmas. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
17th (8) (25/1 -25%)Tir Og |
25/1(-25%) | (8) Tir Og 25/1, Outpaced before improving again when beaten 7l in the Listed QuinnBet Handicap Hurdle at Limerick last time. Had been in good form previously; effective at 2m1f-2m4f and the step back up in trip looks a plus. Highly consistent before unplaced at Limerick, may be too high in the weights now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
18th (3) (15/2 +46%)Blue Mosque |
15/2(+46%) | (3) Blue Mosque 15/2, Needed the run when finishing down the field in the Listed Premier Handicap Hurdle here last time. Had been in good form beforehand; best around 2m4f and generally consistent, if sometimes a touch frustrating. Beaten favourite here at the Christmas meeting, good Punchestown run last April. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

CARRIED WITH LOVE has a nice turn around at the weights here with the progressive Cousin Kate. She chased her home at Limerick over Christmas and Denis Hogan's charge went on to follow up in fine style at Cork last month. Cousin Kate has gone up 18lb as a result while Carried With Love runs off a 2lb higher mark than last time. True Testimony ran well in a competitive event here over Christmas and, off just 1lb higher, she could play a big part in against her own sex now. May Call You Back has been in fine form but may be on a high-enough mark in deeper waters.

The booking of Sean Bowen for Shoda catches the eye but the each-way suggestion is for stablemate CARRIED WITH LOVE

1st (3) (13/2 +7%)Kaid D'authie |
13/2(+7%) | (3) Kaid D'authie 13/2, Travelled well before improving when winning a beginners' chase at Fairyhouse by 10l last time. Effective around 2m4f and handles cut. A big, strong sort with more to come over fences who could give his stablemate a race. Second to Grade 1 winner Kitzbuhel on chase bow; won at Fairyhouse since; can run well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (12/1 -50%)Western Fold |
12/1(-50%) | (5) Western Fold 12/1, Ran to current form when upped in grade, finishing 5 1/4l third in the BetVictor Champion Chase at Down Royal last time. Effective over 2m4f–3m, but the ground looks too deep here and he faces a stiff task against the favourite. Grade 2 winner and 3rd in a Grade 1 last time; lots of experience so is a big player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (30/100 +25%)Final Demand |
30/100(+25%) | (1) Final Demand 30/100, Winner of three Grade 1s and from a yard successful in the last two renewals. Had little more than a schooling session when landing the Faugheen Novice Chase at Limerick by 8l last time. Effective around 2m4f and handles heavy and good to soft ground. Only beaten once; course Grade 1 hurdle winner and won a Grade 1 novice chase last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (2) (20/1 -167%)Jimmy Du Seuil |
20/1(-167%) | (2) Jimmy Du Seuil 20/1, From a yard that has won the last two runnings but well below form when fourth, beaten 43l, in the Faugheen Novice Chase at Limerick last time. Effective around 2m4f but does not want ground too testing and is hard to see winning after that flat effort. Beaten a long way behind Final Demand at Limerick last time after making a bad mistake. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

FINAL DEMAND is going to be a short price here and looks hard to oppose. The Walk In The Park gelding met with his only defeat when a fine third to The New Lion at Cheltenham last March and has been very impressive in his two outings over fences, including in Grade 1 company at Limerick last time. The experienced Western Fold could be the one to give him most to do. The Galway Plate winner was a solid third to Envoi Allen when last seen at Down Royal in November and is rated only 1lb below the selection. Kaid D'authie won well at Fairyhouse last time and should reach the frame.

It is difficult to oppose the impressive FINAL DEMAND, who has only been beaten once and has been faultless in two easy chase wins

1st (9) (3/1 -33%)Talk The Talk |
3/1(-33%) | (9) Talk The Talk 3/1, Just hit the front at the last when fell in Future Champions Novice Hurdle (Grade 1) here latest; effective 2m, acts on Y and G; likely would have won a Grade 1 latest, may gain compensation. Progressive sort looked set for victory when falling here at Christmas, can make amends. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (7/2 -5%)Ballyfad |
7/2(-5%) | (1) Ballyfad 7/2, Impressive on hurdles debut when winning a maiden here by 9 1/2l last time. Effective around 2m and looked a classy performer on that first run over hurdles, making him worthy of this step up in grade. Unbeaten in four starts, only a maiden hurdle to his name but a credible contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (11/2 -83%)King Rasko Grey |
11/2(-83%) | (4) King Rasko Grey 11/2, Yard won this last three runnings of race; travelled, scored with bit in hand on hurdles debut when winning a maiden at Limerick by 3l last time; trainer in form; effective 2m-2m3f, acts on Hy and Y; loads more to come for top connections. Beat a smart opponent at Limerick on hurdling debut, likely best of Mullins quartet. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (11/1 +83%)Koktail Brut |
11/1(+83%) | (5) Koktail Brut 11/1, Reported to have bled when well beaten in the Future Champions Novice Hurdle here last time. Had been in good form previously, enjoys making it, and that latest run may be worth overlooking. Royal Bond winner, flopped here at Christmas, was found to have bled from both nostrils. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (18/1 +10%)Blake |
18/1(+10%) | (2) Blake 18/1, Had every chance and improved again up in grade when second, beaten a head, in the Royal Bond Novice Hurdle at Fairyhouse last time. Effective at 2m but likely vulnerable in this stronger contest. Lost out by only a head to Koktail Brut in the Royal Bond, a lot more on his plate now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (9/2 +78%)Le Divin Enfant |
9/2(+78%) | (6) Le Divin Enfant 9/2, Too keen in front but still improved when fourth, beaten 11l, in the Future Champions Novice Hurdle here last time. Hood applied for the first time and French form has been franked at a high level. Weakened from the last here at Christmas, left to take fourth after Talk The Talk's exit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (25/1 -14%)Starting Fifteen |
25/1(-14%) | (8) Starting Fifteen 25/1, Ran to form when getting off the mark with a 4 1/2l success in a maiden hurdle at Limerick last time. Effective at 2m but has a bit to find at this higher level. Did well to take second to Talk The Talk at Limerick, maiden winner since at that venue. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (12) (22/1 +67%)Switch From Diesel |
22/1(+67%) | (12) Switch From Diesel 22/1, Travelled well and ran to form but did not find as much as looked likely when fourth, beaten 20l, in the Ballymore Novice Hurdle at Naas last time. Faces a stiff challenge at this level. Talented mare in bumpers, can win races over hurdles, unlikely to make a breakthrough here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (7) (40/1 +39%)Mister Pessimistic |
40/1(+39%) | (7) Mister Pessimistic 40/1, Below form when stepping up in class and comfortably held in the Future Champions Novice Hurdle here last time. Had been in good form previously but faces a stiff task at this level. Lost unbeaten record at Christmas, hard to see him matching Talk To Talk based on that. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (10) (12/1 -50%)The Reverend |
12/1(-50%) | (10) The Reverend 12/1, Did what was expected when winning a maiden hurdle at Cork by 5l last time. Effective at around 2m1f and a smart sort on the Flat, but this represents a much tougher assignment. Smart recruit from the Flat, has the makings of a talented hurdler, Cork winner first time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (3) (11/1 +45%)Davy Crockett |
11/1(+45%) | (3) Davy Crockett 11/1, Bit keen but went clear with ease when improving again to win a novice hurdle at Listowel by 4l last time. Suited by 2m and very well bred, though conditions are a concern. Unbeaten in a bumper and two hurdle races, no form on anything worse than yielding. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (11) (300/1 -100%)Tyson Fury |
300/1(-100%) | (11) Tyson Fury 300/1, Ran to form back on the Flat when fourth, beaten 6 1/4l, in a Rated Race at Dundalk last time. Effective at 2m but hard to fancy in a contest of this nature. Three wins on the Flat, hurdling debut was quite promising, appears out of his depth here. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

TALK THE TALK can grab some Grade 1 compensation here. The Born To Sea gelding looked set to collect at the top level here over Christmas before crashing out at the final flight. That form received a boost recently with the fifth horse, The Passing Wife, winning very impressively at Punchestown. Ballyfad was a bit of a revelation on his hurdling debut at Christmas and the runner-up Leader D'allier has also won in style recently. He looks like an obvious danger. Following the same theme, King Rasko Grey had his form boosted when Shuttle Diplomacy won at Naas last weekend and he also has to be on the shortlist.

Unlucky to stumble and fall here at Christmas when looking set for victory TALK THE TALK(nap) can rectify matters now

1st (3) (2/1 -14%)Majborough |
2/1(-14%) | (3) Majborough 2/1, Winner of three G1s; looked in need of stiffer test when 3 1/4l third in Paddy's Rewards Club Chase (Grade 1) here most recent run; effective 2m, acts on any; classy but jumping lacks concentration; first-time cheekpieces may help but ideally wants further. Ground to make up on Solness and Marine National on C&D form last time; cheekpieces added. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (5/4 +44%)Marine Nationale |
5/4(+44%) | (4) Marine Nationale 5/4, Nearly exited the race early but produced a huge effort when second, beaten 1/2l, in the Paddy's Rewards Club Chase here last time. Effective at 2m; the Champion Chase winner sets the form standard, although testing ground would not be ideal. Champion Chase winner just lost out over C&D last time; one to beat if ok on this ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (10/1 +29%)Found A Fifty |
10/1(+29%) | (2) Found A Fifty 10/1, Winner of two G1s; outclassed up in grade when fourth beaten 21l in Paddy's Rewards Club Chase (Grade 1) here latest; effective 2m-2m4f, not convinced by stamina for 3m, acts on any ground; likely vulnerable again. Beaten a long way behind three of today's rivals over C&D last time and has to rebound. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (12/1 -50%)Energumene |
12/1(-50%) | (1) Energumene 12/1, Winner of six G1s; needed run when 9l third in Hilly Way Chase (Grade 2) at Cork most recent run; trainer in form; effective 2m, suited by plenty of cut; dual Champion Chase winner has ground in his favour and not ruled out tried in cheekpieces. Has to improve a fair bit from return; does handle testing ground well; cheekpieces added. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (5/1 -43%)Solness |
5/1(-43%) | (6) Solness 5/1, Winner of three Grade 1s and successful in this race last year; back to his best when winning the Paddy's Rewards Club Chase here by 1/2l last time. Effective at 2m and suited by decent ground; tough and loves this venue, so sure to go well again despite deep ground. Won three Grade 1s over C&D incl' last time but the testing ground isn't in his favour. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (250/1 -100%)Senecia |
250/1(-100%) | (5) Senecia 250/1, Did too much too soon up in trip on a quick reappearance when third, beaten 28l, in a Listed chase at Thurles last time. Effective at 2m-2m6f and suited by cut, but he looks to have no chance in this. Decent sort but rated a long way below all of these rivals and is an unlikely winner. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

The ground could be a deciding factor here and MAJBOROUGH should have no problems with testing conditions. He remains a work in progress over fences but jumped reasonably well here over Christmas. He didn't settle very well, though, and will need to switch off a bit better in the conditions. Marine Nationale ran a remarkable race in the aforementioned after almost losing Sean Flanagan at the second fence. The going would be a concern for him though. Solness is a tough nut and is sure to make it a test again. He has won on soft in the past but most of his best form is on a better surface.

Ability on testing ground plus added cheekpieces could see MAJBOROUGH claw back the deficit on Solness and Marine Nationale

WATERFORD WHISPERS has always threatened to land a prize of this nature and remains unexposed over fences. Runner-up in the 2024 Martin Pipe at the Cheltenham Festival, Henry De Bromhead's gelding ran no sort of race at Punchestown in November but is entitled to bounce back from that effort. Ile Atlantique finished second to Heart Wood at Tramore on New Year's Day and commands plenty of respect. Kinturk Kananisi is closely enough matched on Paddy Power Chase form with O'moore Park and Buachaillbocht, while Ballybawn Belter is 7lb higher than when scoring at Limerick.

KINTURK KALANISI was third in the Paddy Power on his seasonal debut and can go two better with this softer ground in his favour.

Lossiemouth and Brighterdaysahead lock horns once again after their encounter in the December Hurdle where Willie Mullins' mare came out on top. That said, the latter had missed some intended targets, when expected to be sent over fences earlier in the campaign, and it wouldn't be a huge surprise if she were able to reverse those placings. A chance, though, is taken with EL FABIOLO. Twice a winner at this meeting over fences, his jumping had fallen apart in that sphere, with three falls from his last four chase starts, but the nine-year-old returned with a confidence-boosting display at Punchestown on New Year's Eve and appears to still retain all of his ability judged on that display.

With the December Hurdle run under her belt, BRIGHTERDAYSAHEAD has a realistic chance of turning the tables on Lossiemouth

Charles Byrnes bids for a fifth victory in this contest and has an excellent chance with the unexposed I STARTED A JOKE. The selection's overall bumper form reads well and having scored nicely at Punchestown in January, he appears to be better than his mark of 126. Former Cheltenham Bumper winner A Dream To Share also retains an attractive hurdling mark and while it is notable that Mark Walsh rides at his lowest weight 10st 2lb, he is unproven on really testing ground. Murcia is a smart performer and completes the shortlist along with Bowensonfire and Hello Neighbour.

Willie Mullins trains almost half of the field and MURCIA is the pick of stable jockey Paul Townend, so he looks the one to be on.

BROSNA SHINE won well on testing ground in December. By the same sire of Allaho and Epatante, the selection is out of a seven-time winning mare and having shown promise on debut behind the reopposing Wonderful Everyday last April, she returned with a smart winning effort at Fairyhouse. Celestial Tune scored on testing ground at Cheltenham in November. She is dependable and should feature at the business end. Wonderful Everyday disappointed at Huntingdon in December and comes here with a point to prove.

The vote goes to BROSNA SHINE who delivered on the promise of her debut when beating Araminta at Fairyhouse.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
