Willie Mullins won this last year with Kopek Des Bordes and he introduces a fascinating French recruit in LEADER D'ALLIER. The Cokoriko gelding won five in his native land, including a Grade 3 bumper, and is already prominent in the betting for the Supreme Novices' Hurdle. Ballyfad brings an unbeaten record to the table. He's had to dig deep to win a couple of bumpers recently and may improve for going over hurdles now. Tim Toe was beaten at a short price on his hurdling debut at Gowran, when making a few mistakes, but might sharpen up from that run.

French import LEADER D'ALLIER, a five-time winner in AQPS races, may emulate 2024 winner Kopek Des Bordes in scoring for Willie Mullins

33/1(-136%) | (16) Tyson Fury 33/1, Ran to form and needed the run when 7 1/4l third in a Dundalk handicap last time; should come on for that. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (14) (66/1 -32%)Pat's Legacy |
66/1(-32%) | (14) Pat's Legacy 66/1, Very promising debut when well beaten in a Navan maiden hurdle on his sole start. Effective over 2 1/2m and on heavy ground. Should progress with experience. Okay debut effort at Navan last month but hard to see him improving enough. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (66/1 -32%)Eagle's Quest |
66/1(-32%) | (2) Eagle's Quest 66/1, Ran to form when tiring late on up in trip on testing ground, finishing fourth beaten 18l in an auction hurdle at Punchestown. Effective at 2m and consistent early in his career. Ability in bumpers but lots to find on recent hurdles debut effort. |

|F| (3) (8/15 +70%)El Cairos |
8/15(+70%) | (3) El Cairos 8/15, The yard has won two of the last five renewals of this race. Travelled strongly and quickened clear before hanging and losing out late when second beaten 1 1/2l in a Punchestown bumper; may have won with stronger ride that day; ran huge race in Champion Bumper prior; leading claims starting out for new yard on hurdle debut. Smart bumper form last year for the Moore's; bought for 410,000GBP and debuts for top yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (17) (200/1 -33%)Umpire's Call |

200/1(-33%) | (20) Is She Now 200/1, Poor run when down the field in a Dundalk handicap last time. Effective at 2m on good ground and showing gradual progress. Rated a modest 87 and hardly likely to offer a threat in a maiden such as this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
15th (4) (150/1 +25%)Genuine Article |
150/1(+25%) | (4) Genuine Article 150/1, Made a poor debut when well beaten in a maiden hurdle at Navan. The trainer is in form. Effective at 1m and handles soft ground. 21st (5) (150/1 +25%)Gerrymandering |
150/1(+25%) | (5) Gerrymandering 150/1, Has shown no worthwhile form to date and is yet to demonstrate any ability. Never sighted at Punchestown in June; back from a break and easily passed over. |

DOCTOR DU MESNIL beat a decent sort in Thedeviluno in impressive fashion on his debut in a Cork bumper back in April and looks like an exciting prospect. The Doctor Dino gelding is already prominent in the ante-post betting for the Cheltenham novice hurdles and can make a winning start over jumps. The obvious danger is El Cairos, on his first start for Gordon Elliott. The No Risk At All gelding was fifth in the Champion Bumper last term and cost connections 410,000 pounds at the sales recently. Impressive Galway bumper winner Murat did a bit too much in front on his jumping debut at Naas and, if he settles a bit better, he could go well.

A high-class maiden in which DOCTOR DU MESNIL is narrowly preferred to El Cairos and Murat on hurdles debut

Beaten by Barbizon at Navan, winner since at Fairyhouse but needs to find extra. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (11/1 +8%)Quinta Do Lago |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (10) (200/1 -60%)Thilos |
200/1(-60%) | (10) Thilos 200/1, Made a modest debut when comfortably held in a maiden hurdle at Fairyhouse last time. Effective at 2m and acts on soft ground but looks likely to be outclassed. Modest on Flat, never-dangerous sixth behind Ben Hur on hurdles/stable debut at Fairyhouse. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (100/1 +0%)Kasper Hauser |
100/1(+0%) | (3) Kasper Hauser 100/1, Keen and did too much too soon when comfortably held and outclassed in the JCB Triumph Trial Juvenile Hurdle (Grade 2) at Cheltenham last time. Effective at 2m, acts on soft and good ground. Progressive over hurdles but likely one for handicaps and looks out of his depth here. Has looked like a possible future winner on occasion, seems out of his depth here. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

NARCISO HAS should improve from his initial showing at Fairyhouse late last month and could prove the one to beat. The Doctor Dino gelding made a slight mistake at the last that day when chasing home Mange Tout in Grade 3 company and Mullins stated after the race that he thought the run would leave him right for this target. Gordon Elliott is represented by Barbizon and the King Of Change gelding looks like the obvious danger after an impressive start over timber at Navan last month. Ben Hur is another for the shortlist.

Beaten by the Gordon Elliott-trained Mange Tout when favourite on his Irish debut at Fairyhouse, NARCISO HAS should be sharper now

11/1(+45%) | (6) Money Dancer 11/1, Never threatened when beaten 5 1/4l in a handicap at Dundalk last time. Testing ground may not have suited at Navan; remains potential improver on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (1) (11/2 -22%)Powerful |
11/2(-22%) | (1) Powerful 11/2, Ran to form when benefiting from a drop in grade, landing a handicap by a short head off a 7lb lower mark at Punchestown last time. Effective at 2m with cut and still progressing, so could remain ahead of his mark. Handicap debut winner at Punchestown last month; up 7lb but 4yo still unexposed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (5) (25/1 -79%)Tatateo |
25/1(-79%) | (5) Tatateo 25/1, Ran to form when beaten a head off a 41lb lower mark at Dundalk last time. Effective around 10f on the Flat and acts on good ground; a useful dual-purpose performer but inconsistent in this sphere; big ask. Good recent AW form; one to consider although ground possibly softer than ideal. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (17) (33/1 +34%)Brave Soldier |
33/1(+34%) | (17) Brave Soldier 33/1, Jumped poorly and was outpaced when below form back down in trip, finishing down the field in a handicap hurdle at Kilbeggan last time. Returning from a break; effective from 2m to 2 1/2m and suited by a sound surface; generally consistent prior to that run. Maiden has posted some good runs in defeat up to 2m5f but opposable on recent form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (3) (28/1 -12%)Day Trader |
28/1(-12%) | (3) Day Trader 28/1, Ran to form when beaten 2l off a 41lb lower mark at Dundalk last time. Effective at 2m on good ground, and French Flat form suggests he'll handle some cut; needs to find a bit more in handicaps. Well held in the Lartigue at Listowel; mark remains on the high side. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (9) (8/1 +20%)Bannow Blaze |
8/1(+20%) | (9) Bannow Blaze 8/1, Scored by 2 1/4l off an 8lb lower mark at Wexford on his penultimate start and improved again when second, beaten 5 1/2l off 110 last time. Effective at 2m, acts on any ground; in form and should go well. 2lb rise for recent Cork second looks harsh; still prone to jumping errors. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (8) (13/2 +28%)Welluknow |
13/2(+28%) | (8) Welluknow 13/2, Improved when back down in trip, landing a handicap by a neck off an 8lb lower mark at Gowran Park last time. Effective from 2m to 2 1/2m and acts on yielding and heavy ground; arrives in good form. Gowran winner up 8lb; will need a good test at this trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (11) (9/1 -50%)Jacko Star |
9/1(-50%) | (11) Jacko Star 9/1, Ran to form when fourth, beaten 4l in a maiden hurdle at Gowran Park last time. Effective at 2m and acts on heavy and good ground; consistent type with a fair opening mark and may stay further in time. Unexposed 4yo a likely improver now switched to handicaps and one to keep an eye on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (12) (40/1 -60%)Bruant |
40/1(-60%) | (12) Bruant 40/1, Pulled up in a handicap hurdle at Cheltenham last time. Effective at 2m but his current mark looks demanding. Subject of running and riding inquiry when pulled up at Cheltenham last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
15th (2) (50/1 -317%)Atomic Queen |
50/1(-317%) | (2) Atomic Queen 50/1, Improved from her debut when dropped in grade, winning a maiden hurdle at Downpatrick by 5l last time. Returning from a break and effective from 2m to 2m2f on good ground; more to come, though her opening mark asks a question. Much improved for Downpatrick maiden win; contender if handling softer conditions. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
16th (15) (80/1 -21%)Stiltellinemnuttin |
80/1(-21%) | (15) Stiltellinemnuttin 80/1, Below form when comfortably held in a maiden hurdle at Gowran Park last time. Returning from a long layoff, effective at 2m and acts with cut; inconsistent and her mark looks stiff. Tough-looking task here after 10 months' absence on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
17th (18) (25/1 -108%)Freddie Robdal |
25/1(-108%) | (18) Freddie Robdal 25/1, Travelled well and looked the winner before being outbattled late, beaten 2 1/2l off a 4lb lower mark at Thurles last time. Effective from 2m to 2 1/2m and acts on good ground; well treated on chase form and best when played late. Better chaser; runner-up in recent Thurles handicap hurdles but 4lb higher now. |

The four-year-old JACKO STAR looks interesting here on his handicap debut. The son of Yeats, and smart mare Jacksonslady, has shaped with promise in maiden hurdles and wasn't far away when fourth at Gowran Park last time. A mark of 109 doesn't look harsh. Spinola Bay was perhaps value for a bit more than his winning margin at Navan last time and he could be a big player despite an 8lb rise for that effort. Powerful just got up to win at Punchestown last month and is another to bear in mind.

Recent Navan winner SPINOLA BAY (nap) could have got off lightly with an 8lb rise and can follow up

3rd (9) (9/2 +10%)July Flower |
9/2(+10%) | (9) July Flower 9/2, Won the Arkle Challenge Trophy Trial Novices' Chase (Grade 2) at Cheltenham by 1 1/2l last time; effective from 2m to 3m and suited by plenty of cut; more to come over fences and could reach top class with a decent test. 2-2 over fences, coped with a drop in trip and rise in class in 2m Grade 2 at Cheltenham. |

5th (6) (125/1 +17%)Shraheen |
125/1(+17%) | (6) Shraheen 125/1, Keen but rallied gamely on a promising chase debut when third, beaten 19l, in a beginners' chase at Navan last time; effective at 2–2 1/2m and likely to progress further when stepped up in trip. Respectable third behind Kopek Des Bordes on chasing debut at Navan, up against it here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (9/2 -13%)Salvator Mundi |
9/2(-13%) | (5) Salvator Mundi 9/2, A bit below hurdle form on chase debut, doing too much early and setting it up for his stablemate when second, beaten 1 1/4l, in a beginners' chase at Thurles; a Grade 1 winner over hurdles; suited by 2m on good ground and capable of better dropped in trip. Beat Romeo Coolio at Aintree, can run too freely, questions to answer after Thurles defeat. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (28/1 -75%)Westport Cove |
28/1(-75%) | (7) Westport Cove 28/1, Rallied gamely and improved again to defy a big weight when winning the Craddockstown Novice Chase (Grade 2) at Punchestown by a neck last time; enjoys making the running, progressive from 2m to 2m2f, acts best on good but handles soft. Has experience edge but more needed again up in class. Three wins from four starts as a second-season novice this term; trainer's second-string. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|C| (3) (40/1 -21%)Nurburgring |
40/1(-21%) | (3) Nurburgring 40/1, Had every chance but ran below form when fourth, beaten 15l, in the Paddy Power Betting Shops Novice Chase (Grade 3) at Cork last time; effective at 2–2 1/2m and may benefit from a short break after a busy spell. Galway Hurdle winner in 2024, well below his best since second in the Ascot Stakes. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

It looks hard to oppose ROMEO COOLIO here after two impressive displays over fences. The Kayf Tara gelding put some decent rivals in their place in the Drinmore at Fairyhouse late last month and should have no issues with the drop back in trip. Salvator Mundi was turned over at a very short price on his chase debut at Thurles but may improve a bit from that experience and could chase home the selection. Irish Panther made a fine start over fences when scoring at Naas but faces a much stiffer task now.

A Grade 1 novice hurdle winner at this fixture last year and winner of the Drinmore Chase at Fairyhouse, ROMEO COOLIO looks the part

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (9) (7/2 +53%)Release The Beast |
7/2(+53%) | (9) Release The Beast 7/2, Stable won this race last year. Improved again when just out-battled late, possibly challenged too early up in trip, beaten 2l off a 3lb lower mark at Wexford. Effective 2–2½m performer who acts with cut. Fairly treated and could build on that run. Only denied late on Wexford return; back in trip and should go well with rider's claim. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (13) (28/1 -100%)Wonleg |
28/1(-100%) | (13) Wonleg 28/1, Stable has won three of the last ten editions. Made a bit too much use of when comfortably held in a handicap chase at Killarney. In good form previously and returns from a break. Effective around 2m on soft or good ground but inconsistent. Relatively unexposed 5yo but lack of a recent run a concern. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

9/1(-29%) | (15) Seskin Flash 9/1, Ran to form down in trip when beaten ½l off a 1lb lower mark at Down Royal last time. Returns from a short break. Effective around 2½m on yielding or good ground. Progressing and fairly treated though may want further. Novice progressing well and one to consider. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (12) (25/1 -79%)Dont Go Yet |
25/1(-79%) | (12) Dont Go Yet 25/1, Bit below form but not disgraced when fourth, beaten 12l in a Listed handicap chase at Fairyhouse last time. Effective at 2m and handles cut. Generally consistent performer who should run his race. Long losing run and holds no secrets from the handicapper but don't rule out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (22/1 -83%)Theatre Native |
22/1(-83%) | (4) Theatre Native 22/1, Stable has won three of the last ten runnings of this race. Did too much too soon and finished down the field in the Paddy Power Gold Cup at Cheltenham. Effective around 2½m and handles any ground but inconsistent. Well held last month in Paddy Power Gold Cup at Cheltenham and now drops in grade/trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (10) (14/1 +30%)The Folkes Tiara |
14/1(+30%) | (10) The Folkes Tiara 14/1, Stable has won three of the last ten renewals. Continued in modest form when well beaten in a handicap chase at Cork. Usually held up. Effective around 2m and acts on soft or yielding ground but needs to bounce back. Won this in 2023 and denied last year by An Peann Dearg; nothing to note of late however. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

25/1(+24%) | (20) Grange Walk 25/1, Pulled up in a handicap hurdle at Clonmel last time. Usually held up. Back from a short break. Effective 2–2½m performer who has been running well and is very well treated on old chase form. 2021 winner; best recent form over hurdles but can't rule out off much reduced chase mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (2) (22/1 -22%)The King Of Prs |
22/1(-22%) | (2) The King Of Prs 22/1, Made mistakes and was below form when comfortably held in a Listed handicap chase at Fairyhouse last time. Effective at 2m and handles any ground, though his current mark still looks stiff. Mildly encouraging Fairyhouse run last month; more expected of here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (21) (9/1 +25%)One Last Tango |
9/1(+25%) | (21) One Last Tango 9/1, Raced wide and was awkward under pressure, with too much to do and not the strongest ride when beaten 9l in a handicap chase at Clonmel. Effective 2m–2m3f performer yet to win over fences but on a fair mark and has won at this meeting over hurdles. Better hurdler; recent Clonmel fifth leaves him with a bit to find with Trasna Na Pairce. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (3) (14/1 -17%)Where's My Jet |
14/1(-17%) | (3) Where's My Jet 14/1, Fell in a beginners chase at Fairyhouse last time where would've fought for a place. Effective around 2½m and needs to confirm recent improvement now handicapping. Sole runner for top yard so respected but opposable on form so far now on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (16) (25/1 +0%)Solsbury Hill |
25/1(+0%) | (16) Solsbury Hill 25/1, Disappointing on handicap debut when finishing down the field in a chase at Down Royal. Back from a short break. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (8) (11/1 -38%)Chance Another One |
11/1(-38%) | (8) Chance Another One 11/1, Won a handicap by 4½l off a 6lb lower mark at Kempton on his penultimate start. Yard in form. Effective between 2½m and 3m and handles any going but best on good ground. Progressive stayer over fences on a good mark but may find this inadequate test. Best form at 3m, remains opposable at this much shorter trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (18) (14/1 -87%)Trasna Na Pairce |
14/1(-87%) | (18) Trasna Na Pairce 14/1, Stable has won three of the last ten runnings of this race. Raced a bit freely but ran to form when beaten 3l off a 2lb lower mark at Clonmel behind rival who has franked the form. Effective 2m–2m6f performer who may do better stepped back up in trip but holds strong claims off lenient mark based on hurdles form. Clonmel handicap debut second may appreciate better ground; pick of the de Bromhead five. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (7) (16/1 +0%)An Peann Dearg |
16/1(+0%) | (7) An Peann Dearg 16/1, Won this race last year. Disappointing on hurdles return when comfortably held in a novice event at Wexford. Back from a short break, a progressive type who stays further and is well treated on spring C&D course win. Last year's winner has a bit to prove off this mark after a tame hurdles run last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
15th (11) (33/1 0%)Je T'ai Porte |
33/1(0%) | (11) Je T'ai Porte 33/1, Made too much use of and finished well beaten in a Listed handicap chase at Fairyhouse last time. Likes to make the running. Effective 2m–2m3f performer on a sound surface but looks on a stiff mark. Well held in 2m1f Fairyhouse handicap chase last month so lots to find. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
16th (22) (80/1 +47%)Figurehead |
80/1(+47%) | (22) Figurehead 80/1, Disappointing on flat return when down the field in a handicap at Dundalk. Had been in good form prior. Effective 2–2½m and handles yielding or good ground. Needs to reproduce his novice form in this handicap. Placings in beginners' chases but 11lb wrong on handicap debut here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (6/1 +20%)Golden Joy |
6/1(+20%) | (6) Golden Joy 6/1, Nearly fell as the race developed and finished well beaten in a handicap chase at Cork. Effective around 2m and best with some cut. Inconsistent course and distance winner, well treated on hurdles form. Remains unexposed on comeback run; has to be respected given the form of the Elliott yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (19) (11/1 -22%)Crescent Moon |
11/1(-22%) | (19) Crescent Moon 11/1, Improved when stepped up in trip and down in grade on handicap debut, beaten 5l in a handicap chase at Fairyhouse. Effective 2m–2m4f and may stay a little further. In fair form but her current mark looks demanding. Recent handicap debut not devoid of promise; drop in trip may suit now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (25/1 +11%)Lisnamult Lad |
25/1(+11%) | (1) Lisnamult Lad 25/1, Fell in a handicap hurdle at Cheltenham last time when beaten. In good form over hurdles previously. Blinkers are tried for the first time. Enjoys racing prominently and returns after a short break. Top-weight opposable over an inadequate trip. |

TRASNA NA PAIRCE bumped into a well-handicapped rival in Bridie's Beau at Clonmel last time and looks capable of scoring off his current mark. The Walk In The Park gelding did little wrong last time, headed going to the last after making the running, and is only 2lb higher now. It looked like a hot enough contest in which Chance Another One finished a moderate fourth last time and he is respected back in handicap company. Addragoole remains unexposed over fences and is another to note.

Paul Nolan took this last year with An Peann Dearg but the yard may have a stronger contender in RELEASE THE BEAST

2nd (1) (6/1 -20%)Cityofblindinlites |
6/1(-20%) | (1) Cityofblindinlites 6/1, Vadamos gelding whose dam was very useful from 13f to 14f but was poor over hurdles. Wears a hood for the first time and faces a tough assignment on debut. Represents respected connections, hood and tongue-tie for debut strikes a concerning note. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

9/2(+18%) | (10) Premier Division 9/2, Ran green under pressure but showed plenty of promise when third, beaten 4l, in a bumper at Fairyhouse. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (10/3 +33%)Minella Machine |
10/3(+33%) | (8) Minella Machine 10/3, Made a highly promising debut when winning a Curraghmore maiden by 24l. Returns from a long layoff and looks a strong contender on rules debut for a top stable. E350,000 buy after a wide-margin point win for John Nallen at Curraghmore, dam was useful. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (11/1 -10%)Outofafrika |
11/1(-10%) | (9) Outofafrika 11/1, Impressive debut 8l winner in a conditions race at Guilsborough. Returns from a long layoff starting out for new top yard under rules; interesting Reportedly made a good impression in winning his only point start in Britain for Tom Lacey. |

15/8(-106%) | (4) Heldam 15/8, 110,000 euros Doctor Dino gelding from a top yard that won this race last year. Form of point win has been franked emphatically; dam a Listed hurdles winner; leading contender. Point winner over 2m4f, runner-up Lord Rouge has boosted the form with a Cork success. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (80/1 -186%)Ifuknowuknow |
80/1(-186%) | (6) Ifuknowuknow 80/1, Showed promise when beaten 6l in a 4yo bumper at Punchestown on debut. Returns from a short break, effective at 2m on good ground, and should improve with experience. Stayed on from an unpromising position when sixth at Punchestown, open to improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (2) (150/1 -50%)Euro Agent |
150/1(-50%) | (2) Euro Agent 150/1, Unseated in a 4yo bumper at Fairyhouse last time; half brother to hurdles winner but one to watch for now. Stumbled and unseated rider after three furlongs at Fairyhouse, 50-1 then, no appeal now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (5) (12/1 +88%)Hoof And Hustle |
12/1(+88%) | (5) Hoof And Hustle 12/1, 27,000 euros Order Of St George gelding; half brother to bumper winner; probably best watched on debut with stable not known for rules winners. Dam unraced half-sister to the smart Spirit Leader; from a small yard, taking on big guns. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (12) (200/1 -203%)Royal Juliette |
200/1(-203%) | (12) Royal Juliette 200/1, Austrian School filly who is probably best watched on debut; dam showed little in a bumper but is a half sister to hurdles and bumper winner. Newcomer from a predominantly Flat stable not typically associated with bumper runners. |

HELDAM may be able to make a winning start for Willie Mullins. The Doctor Dino gelding won a point-to-point back in February and the form of that race got a boost recently with the runner-up Lord Rouge winning a maiden hurdle at Cork. Premier Division was well fancied on his debut at Fairyhouse, but could only finish third to stablemate Keep Him Company. That looked like a solid bumper and he could progress a bit for the run. Minella Machine cost 350,000 euro after winning his point-to-point and is another who has to be considered.

The form of the maiden point won by HELDAM has been boosted by the second in winning over hurdles; he may beat Minella Machine

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
