The Ger Lyons-trained KNOCKMARK looks to have been found a nice opportunity to get his head in front. Having finished fourth on two occasions earlier in the season, the son of Havana Grey stepped up on those runs when second at Fairyhouse recently. A reproduction of that effort would almost certainly suffice in a race of this nature. Given his experience, it would be no great surprise to see the gelding make all under James Ryan. Alfred Tennyson has shown enough in five starts to suggest he can win a maiden and perhaps the application of first-time blinkers will spark further improvement. Aeon's Aegis, who ran well here in April, is also worth considering.

Joseph O'Brien runs two and although Aeon's Aegis has shown some ability, a chance is taken on SWEET BAY to improve on turf debut

Fairyhouse runner-up MISAPPROPRIATION has strong claims of going one place better. The form of that race received a significant boost when the third landed a premier handicap on her next start. Stepping back up a furlong should benefit the Ger Lyons-trained filly, given that she is already a winner at the distance. Nicola Burns, who was in the saddle last time, retains the ride. Towards the foot of the weights, Rion Rubette catches the eye. Second on her most recent start at the Curragh, the Michael Butler-trained daughter of New Bay should be suited to this longer trip. Glyndwr and Bishopton are others to consider in a tight-knit affair.

The Ger Lyons pair of Glyndwr and MISAPPROPRIATION are of most interest. Slight preference is for the latter returning to 7f.

Provided she breaks on terms, ANVIKA can record a second win at this track. Runner-up in a big field at the Curragh on her penultimate outing, Sheila Lavery's four-year-old blew her chance early on when slowly away here last time. Although the daughter of Dandy Man has dwelt on occasions, that was the first time she lost many lengths from the stalls. On the assumption that she won't be as tardy, she is given the nod. The David Marnane-trained Amemri has to be respected in her bid for a five-timer. While this is the highest grade she has raced in, she is an improving mare. Mallavelly will appreciate returning to a mile.

Stormie Outlook has claims if she can recapture last year's form, but this looks like a golden opportunity for ANVIKA (nap) to win

NOTFORALONGTIME can provide the locally-based Laura Hourigan stable with a winner. Fifth in a stronger race here last time, the eight-year-old stayed on strongly inside the final furlong. A multiple winner on the all-weather, he has only the solitary success on turf but is effective on the surface. Well handicapped at present, the son of Paco Boy may have been laid out for this meeting. The hat-trick seeking Deuteronomy has to be given serious consideration. An improving gelding, the penny really seems to have dropped this season. Recent Gowran Park winner Sierra De Gredos is lightly raced and should be competitive off a 6lb higher mark.

A competitive handicap can go the way of the improving SIERRA DE GREDOS, who impressed when scoring at Gowran last time out

16:00 Limerick (Class 1) 12f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

The Aidan O'Brien-trained QUEENSTOWN can make a winning seasonal reappearance. Last seen when finishing mid-division in the Newmarket Cesarewitch, the five-year-old is versatile when it comes to trip. Runner-up to Kyprios a couple of times last year, the son of Galileo has run well off the back of a break in previous campaigns. Given his proven stamina, jockey Ronan Whelan is likely to make this race a thorough test. The veteran Layfayette has every chance, despite arguably preferring an easier surface. Yet to hit form this term, the fitting of first-time cheekpieces could enhance his claims. Cork runner-up Lemsairbat showed enough promise to suggest that she can also make her presence felt.

Winner of this race in 2023, LAYFAYETTE has twice run well in defeat over shorter this season but this trip suits him best nowadays.

Unlucky in running when sixth here earlier this month, FAIRE LA NOUBA can gain compensation. The John O'Neill-trained colt started his campaign with a run in the Chester Vase and, almost certainly better than a mark of 67, the son of River Boyne looks to have been presented with a nice opportunity to register a first career success. All Told, who caught the eye more than once over the winter, should relish this step up in trip. While he already has every chance on official ratings, the extra distance should bring about improvement. His stablemate, the lightly-raced Denim And Diamonds, merits consideration too.

FAIRE LA NOUBA was unlucky not to have been closer off 67 in a handicap over a furlong shorter here last time and can win.

BARROGSTOWN GIRL has shaped well enough on her two most recent starts to suggest that she is ready to add to her three previous victories. Successful at this track last July, the Jarlath Fahey-trained mare has been largely consistent in subsequent runs. Despite stepping up in grade, the five-year-old is worth siding with in a competitive affair. The booking of Ronan Whelan also catches the eye given that connections have claimed off her in recent times. Burren Song has yet to win for Ciaran Murphy, but has shown promise in a few outings. The upside is that the seven-year-old is now looking a well-handicapped horse. Junkyard Dog has to be of interest taking on his elders.

Barrogstown Girl and JUNKYARD DOG look set to fight out the finish but it's the latter who can come out on top

About U.K Horse Racing

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.

There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.

The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.

Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.

In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses.
