20/1(-100%) | (6) Broken Vow 20/1, Decorated Knight filly; dam was very useful over 10f; half sister to multiple flat winners; trainer in form; likely type. Perhaps not as appealing as some on pedigree but stable does well with its bumper runners. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (5/4 +64%)Itsinthename |
5/4(+64%) | (1) Itsinthename 5/4, Promising effort when third beaten 2 1/2l in a maiden point at Loughanmore on debut. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (12/1 +70%)Kings Wardrobe |
12/1(+70%) | (4) Kings Wardrobe 12/1, 30,000gns King Of Change gelding; half-brother to Gaelic Master, modest over 16f; faces a tough enough task on debut. Has a good Flat pedigree, but stable wouldn't be associated with bumper winners. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Le Cold Grey must be respected on debut given his connections and the market may tell us more. However, preference is for experience and MY MATE AJ finished a solid third in what looked a good Southwell bumper on his introduction in November. With normal improvement, he might take some stopping. Point third Itsinthename is another to bear in mind.

There are some nice newcomers in this with LE COLD GREY looking particularly appealing.

WONDERING WHY finished half-a-length second to the 2024 Derby runner-up Ambiente Friendly at Huntingdon last time out and that form reads well in the context of this maiden hurdle. Zamek struggled at Kempton latest but would have every chance on his previous course second, while it is also worth keeping a close eye on Cayman Dancer, Jamada and Unjeu Royal.

Newbury runner-up Cayman Dancer is respected but the vote goes to WONDERING WHY, who was only just caught at Huntingdon last month.

MY SILVER LINING ticks a lot of boxes as a previous course scorer who arrives in good nick. A solid second last time out at Haydock, Emma Lavelle's charge won't mind going back up in trip and last season's Midlands Grand National fourth ought to have a big say. Sporting Ace won this last year and is noted along with Art Decco.

Topweight MAKIN'YOURMINDUP looked a very promising stayer chaser during the 2023-24 season and might have needed last month's run.

Five-time hurdle winner SUNDAY SOLDIER wasn't seen at her best over fences towards the end of 2025 but is back hurdling on a good mark.

66/1(0%) | (6) Mac's Xpress 66/1, Outpaced and below form when well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter latest. Effective over 2½m but remains a regressive maiden. Maiden; big prices and well held in 2025; hard to foresee good run from out of weights. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

It is very hard to oppose BOLLIN THOU, who arrives here on the back of two impressive victories in recent weeks. A 7lb penalty for his 21-length success at Hereford a week ago is unlikely to prevent another bold bid and he can make it a hat-trick. Court One may have to settle for second once again, while Inion Tiogair completes the shortlist.

Directly and Mild Magic are both of some interest at this level but BOLLIN THOU can defy a penalty for last week's Hereford win.

7/2(+36%) | (4) Thruthelookinglass 7/2, Ran to form when fourth, beaten 13l in a handicap chase at Huntingdon on latest start. Effective from 2 1/2m to 3m and acts with cut. Generally consistent but has yet to rediscover previous form since returning from a layoff. Very lightly raced; respectable efforts of late but not yet looked a cast-iron stayer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (9) (10/1 +17%)Felton Bellevue |
10/1(+17%) | (9) Felton Bellevue 10/1, Outpaced but produced a better effort in first-time blinkers, though still below form when 14l third in a handicap chase at Windsor last time. Trainer is in form. Effective at 3m and acts with cut. Dropping in the weights but below par this season. Strong C&D form includes a win last February; now 5lb lower; might revive back here. |

4th (7) (15/2 -67%)One Last Glance |
15/2(-67%) | (7) One Last Glance 15/2, Travelled well and possibly hit the front too soon when beaten a length off a 3lb lower mark at Wetherby last time. Effective from 2m to 3m and acts on any going. Respected off a 3lb higher mark. Sole chase win at 2m5f but kept on well over 3m latest when runner-up to subsequent winner. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (6/1 -33%)Koenigsstern |
6/1(-33%) | (1) Koenigsstern 6/1, Made mistakes but travelled well and ran to form when beaten 2 1/2l off a 2lb lower mark at Warwick last time. Effective from 2m to 2 1/2m, acts on good ground and best with some cut. Now back to a workable mark and running into form. Point winner; chase win at 2m2f; runner-up over 2m4f latest; stamina to prove up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (10/3 +39%)Montmartin |
10/3(+39%) | (6) Montmartin 10/3, Probably needed the run but still ran to form on chase debut when 11l third in a handicap chase at Ffos Las last time. Effective at 3m and acts on soft and good to soft ground. Plenty more to come over fences and looks well handicapped on hurdle form. Open to improvement on handicap hurdle/chase form but off since last spring; market useful. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (10) (11/2 +66%)Endersen |
11/2(+66%) | (10) Endersen 11/2, Ran to form when fourth, beaten 23l in a handicap chase at Fontwell last time. Effective from 2m5f to 3m and remains an exposed maiden. Has possibilities on staying hurdle form but chase efforts (0-4) don't compare as yet. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (12/1 +52%)Givehimthehonour |
12/1(+52%) | (8) Givehimthehonour 12/1, Made mistakes and was outpaced when needing the run after a wind operation, finishing well beaten in a handicap chase at Newton Abbot last time. This is his second start since the procedure and he returns from a short break. Effective from 2 1/2m to 3m and suited by plenty of cut but has been out of form since moving from Ireland. Three crushing defeats over fences for this yard and has lots to prove. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Having built on his third-placed reappearance at Fontwell when filling the runner-up spot at Warwick 19 days ago, KOENIGSSTERN looks ready to get his head back in front. A 2lb rise in the ratings looks workable for Nick Gifford's gelding and he may take some stopping if seeing out the extra yardage. Thruthelookinglass wasn't disgraced when fourth at Huntingdon and isn't taken lightly, while C&D winner Felton Bellevue is noted too.

Better Off Alone can definitely improve but marginal preference is for ONE LAST GLANCE who ran up against an improver last time.

5th (7) (11/2 +8%)Diamond Days |
11/2(+8%) | (7) Diamond Days 11/2, Failed to build on debut when comfortably held in a handicap chase at Fontwell last time; effective at 2½m, acts on any ground; can improve if tidying up jumping. Promising chase debut (good); lesser effort since; this trip on soft may not be ideal. |

|PU| (8) (7/2 +68%)Stardhem |

|PU| (2) (13/2 -136%)Lady Pretender |
13/2(-136%) | (2) Lady Pretender 13/2, Travelled strongly and won comfortably, returning to form when stepped up in trip after a break, landing a handicap by 6l off a 7lb lower mark at Plumpton last time; effective 2m-2m4f, acts on heavy and soft; remains well treated on French form. Belatedly off the mark at Plumpton (2m4f) last month following wind surgery; back up 7lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (16/1 -14%)Jackeline |
16/1(-14%) | (5) Jackeline 16/1, Outpaced and a bit below form when 21l third in a handicap chase at Fontwell last time; effective from 2m to 2m4f, acts on soft (not heavy) and good ground; consistent hurdler who can improve over fences up in trip. Broke hurdle duck in late 2024 but not yet looked a natural chaser in two recent attempts. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Lady Pretender scored with plenty in hand at Plumpton last month and she must enter calculations off 7lb higher. However, it could be worth taking a punt on DESERT HALO, who was in touch with the leaders before unseating his rider two out at Fontwell 42 days ago. A 2lb drop in the ratings may prove to be lenient for Richard Bandey's charge and he edges the vote. Begin The Luck completes the shortlist.

Not many with convincing claims but perhaps LADY PRETENDER (nap) has finally turned a corner after her recent Plumpton win.
Ths is the racecard key.
