1st (4) (5/4 +58%)Rising Force |
5/4(+58%) | (4) Rising Force 5/4, Bit free but ran to form when beaten 1 1/4l off this mark at Kempton last time; effective at 7-8f on a sound surface. In form, though the mark demands a little more. C&D winner; solid third for current yard at Kempton week ago; in the mix off same mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) (100/1 -203%)Summer Evening |
100/1(-203%) | (8) Summer Evening 100/1, Forced wide from a poor draw and was well beaten in a classified race at Southwell last time. Cheekpieces go on for the first time but she has yet to show any reliable form. Beat only one in 1m Southwell handicap four days ago; cheekpieces are reached for now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (16/1 -60%)Semser |
16/1(-60%) | (7) Semser 16/1, Found little when beaten 7l in a handicap here last time but had been in good form prior. Drawn wide; effective at 7-10f and suited by the all-weather. Still on a fair mark. C&D scorer but he's an unreliable sort; headgear again left off and others are preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (11/4 +8%)Vizzavona Lady |
11/4(+8%) | (1) Vizzavona Lady 11/4, Returned to best when dropped back in trip, winning a handicap by 1 1/4l off a 5lb lower mark at Kempton last time; effective at 7f and handles the all-weather. Not always reliable in repeating good runs and stamina remains to be proven. Settled better than usual when scoring at Kempton a week ago; a player under 5lb pen. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (12/1 -50%)Ciotog |
12/1(-50%) | (3) Ciotog 12/1, Hinted at a revival when just tiring late, beaten 3l off a 2lb higher mark at Wolverhampton last time; effective up to 10f and handles the all-weather. Needs more than of late but the handicapper is easing, and the drop in trip looks suitable. Step back in right direction with Wolver fourth 19 days ago; needs considering. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (10/1 -25%)Whiteley Way |
10/1(-25%) | (6) Whiteley Way 10/1, Bit free but ran to form when beaten 4l off a 1lb higher mark at Wolverhampton last time after a short break. Effective at 7-10f and handles the all-weather. In good form and worth consideration again. Yet to register a victory but she arrives in good nick; one for the shortlist eased 1lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (8/1 -60%)Knightmare |
8/1(-60%) | (5) Knightmare 8/1, Bit free but rallied gamely to run to form, beaten 1 1/4l off this mark at Kempton last time; effective at 6-7f and goes well on the all-weather. Well treated off an unchanged mark and a strong player if stamina holds out. Good second for new yard at Kempton week ago; must enter calculations off unchanged mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (2) (13/2 -8%)Joycean Way |
13/2(-8%) | (2) Joycean Way 13/2, Ran to form when fourth, beaten 5 1/4l in a claimer at Leicester last time after a short break. Effective at 7-8f and proven on the all-weather. In good form, and the step back up in trip should suit. Remains winless and a below-par fourth in 7f Leicester claimer in October; more is needed. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

VIZZAVONA LADY accounted for Knightmare when winning a similar event over 7f at Kempton a week ago. A 5lb penalty for that success is a slight concern, but the four-year-old is more likely to be suited by this step up in trip and that just gives her the edge. The runner-up cannot be discounted, though, while Rising Force was third that day and is another to note.

Jack Jones's VIZZAVONA LADY proved much more settled under the experienced Eireann Cagney when scoring at Kempton and can defy a 5lb pen

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (10/11 +64%)Foothold |
10/11(+64%) | (4) Foothold 10/11, Pulled too hard off a break but ran an excellent race when second, beaten a head in a maiden here last time; effective at 1m, may stay further; more to come if settling better as he goes up in trip. Clear at one stage before headed late on by the favourite here last time (1m). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (66/1 +0%)Portman Blue |
66/1(+0%) | (1) Portman Blue 66/1, 20,000gns Sergei Prokofiev gelding; half-brother to Mr Large, useful at 8f as a 2yo; dam very useful at 7f at 2yo; tough enough task on debut. 20,000gns yearling; lacks experience and partnered by a 7lb claimer; best watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (5/1 -82%)High Chieftain |
5/1(-82%) | (5) High Chieftain 5/1, Raced wide and improved for the step up in distance when second, beaten 1/2l in a maiden at Wolverhampton last time; effective at 7f and may stay further; a workmanlike sort with a good attitude and open to progress. Well placed in a modestly-run race when just missing out at Wolverhampton. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (5/2 +17%)Evenepoel |
5/2(+17%) | (3) Evenepoel 5/2, Flat out throughout and outstayed rivals when winning a maiden at Chelmsford by a short head last time; wants at least 7f ideally; big, workmanlike gelding who will rate more highly over further. Got up in the nick of time over 6f at Chelmsford; penalised but sent further now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (28/1 -40%)Hurricane Ann |
28/1(-40%) | (9) Hurricane Ann 28/1, Showed little on debut when well beaten in a maiden at Yarmouth on only start; returns from a short break and open to improvement. 100-1 when eighth of the ten runners over 1m at Yarmouth three months ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (80/1 -142%)Savvi Row |
80/1(-142%) | (6) Savvi Row 80/1, Made minor late headway up in trip when beaten 7 1/2l in a novice here last time; trainer in form; stays 7f and may want further; should do better stepped up in distance. Did show a bit more upped to this trip here 21 days ago but still only seventh of ten. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (125/1 -89%)Anaba Girl |
125/1(-89%) | (8) Anaba Girl 125/1, Got behind early and was probably green when well beaten in a novice here on only start; quite speedily bred and should improve for that debut experience. Always in rear in finished last over 6f here three weeks ago, at 50-1. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (2) (100/1 0%)Harry Don't Bite |
100/1(0%) | (2) Harry Don't Bite 100/1, Green, missed the break badly and was outpaced when well beaten in a maiden here on only start. Drawn wide and speedily bred, but showed little on debut. 200-1 and beaten 24l in a 1m maiden here two weeks ago; no appeal for now. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

FOOTHOLD put in a career best when beaten just a head over a mile here earlier in the month. This drop in trip is likely to suit and he can go one better at the main expense of High Chieftain following his own close second at Wolverhampton. Evenepoel (first) and Allegrino (third) are closely matched based on their meeting at Chelmsford recently and are others to note.

This drop back to 7f looks ideal for FOOTHOLD who was collared late on by the favourite over a mile here earlier this month.

Previously in good form; effective from 7f to 8f on a sound surface and worth another try at 10f off a reduced mark. Not discredited when fifth here nine days ago; he can make his presence felt. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (18/1 -29%)Iftikhaar |
18/1(-29%) | (5) Iftikhaar 18/1, Disappointing on flat return, beaten 10l in a handicap here last time. Effective from 8f to 10f on the Flat but unreliable overall. Gained a belated first success at Chelmsford in September but has offered little since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (9) (7/4 +36%)Wrist Art |
7/4(+36%) | (9) Wrist Art 7/4, Ran to form up in trip when third, beaten 2l, in a Wolverhampton classified race last time in a first-time visor. Suited by 8f; unexposed at 10f and on a fair mark on Irish form if building on that revival. Step forward for new yard with Wolver third nine days ago; very much one to consider. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (40/1 0%)Marion's Boy |
40/1(0%) | (6) Marion's Boy 40/1, Missed the break and never threatened when finishing down the field in a Wolverhampton handicap last time. Tongue-tie applied for the first time. Usually held up; effective at 10f on the all-weather but has regressed markedly since a long absence. A multiple C&D winner but he comes here under a cloud; others are much preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (9/4 -50%)Marinakis |
9/4(-50%) | (1) Marinakis 9/4, Returned to form when dropping in trip and class to win a classified race at Chelmsford by a neck last time. Effective from 10f to 12f and handles the all-weather; fairly treated back in handicap company. Cheekpieces back on when scoring at Chelmsford latest; player with the headgear retained. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (8/1 +11%)Endofastorm |
8/1(+11%) | (3) Endofastorm 8/1, Had every chance but ran below form when well beaten in a Kempton handicap last time. Effective from 12f to 14f and handles any surface; temperament remains a concern though she's on a workable mark. Scored at Bath (13f) in September but she's been below par of late. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (66/1 -136%)Saint Terry |
66/1(-136%) | (8) Saint Terry 66/1, Below form when well beaten up in trip in a Chelmsford handicap last time. Represents a top course trainer but is hard to fancy. Remains low mileage but he's yet to offer much; needs to take a big step forward. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) (150/1 -127%)Hannahs Story |
150/1(-127%) | (4) Hannahs Story 150/1, Has shown no worthwhile form so far. Tongue-tie fitted for the first time but all to prove. Has failed to beat a rival on both runs at 7f here this year; not easy to make a case for. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (10) (66/1 -500%)Scammer |
66/1(-500%) | (10) Scammer 66/1, Outpaced and needed the run when finishing down the field in a maiden here most recently. Blinkers go on for the first time but he has yet to show any ability. Last of nine in 1m maiden here in August; blinkers are tried now with lots to find. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Marinakis arguably sets the standard following his win in a similar event at Chelmsford 10 days ago. That said, a 5lb penalty could leave him vulnerable so preference is for WRIST ART. James Owen's gelding showed much more when third at Wolverhampton last week and that form gives him a big chance. Monks Mead is another likely to be in the mix.

This looks a good opportunity for MARINAKIS to follow up his victory at Chelmsford (headgear again sported) for his bang in-form handler

Is 0-16 and seventh over C&D in September; needs to take a big step forward after a break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (3/1 -60%)Haveagobeau |
3/1(-60%) | (1) Haveagobeau 3/1, Quickened clear readily when winning a handicap here by 3l last time; effective from 8f to 10f and probably acts on any surface; unexposed at 10f and appears to have run into form. Won at 31st try over C&D week ago; not taken lightly in classified company here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (66/1 -65%)Sun Festival |
66/1(-65%) | (6) Sun Festival 66/1, Made a big move after missing the break but stopped quickly when beaten 9l in a classified race at Chelmsford last time; effective at 10f and acts on a sound surface; regressive type. Winless since 2023 and beat only one after six months off at Chelmsford ten days ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (13/2 +7%)Kaaress |
13/2(+7%) | (3) Kaaress 13/2, Never threatened but was ridden to see out the trip when beaten 9 1/2l in a handicap here last time; effective from 8f to 10f and acts on any surface but has lost enthusiasm. Positive start for new yard, carried wide when seventh here latest; weighted to go well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (10) (10/3 +33%)Spaceage Love Song |
10/3(+33%) | (10) Spaceage Love Song 10/3, Went clear and ran to form under an aggressive ride when third, beaten 1/2l in a classified race at Chelmsford most recently; trainer in form; effective from 10f to 12f on the all-weather; could build on a promising return after injury. Still a maiden but good third at Chelmsford ten days ago; one for the shortlist. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (14/1 +30%)Laurentia |
14/1(+30%) | (4) Laurentia 14/1, Continued in poor form when beaten 5l in a handicap here last time; visor tried for the first time; effective from 7f to 10f and acts on any surface; on a long losing run. C&D winner; this veteran can't be dismissed with a visor now added. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (5/2 +17%)Thundering Breeze |
5/2(+17%) | (8) Thundering Breeze 5/2, Ran to form when second, beaten 1 1/2l in a handicap at Southwell latest; effective from 8f to 11f and suited by fast ground; needs things to fall right; a maiden who could be running into form. 50/1(-213%) | (7) Sunset In Paris 50/1, No obvious excuse when finishing down the field in a classified race at Chelmsford most recently; effective at 10f and better on the all-weather but inconsistent. A three-time C&D winner but he's not proving easy to catch right; cheekpieces retried now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (9) (40/1 -100%)Estimaid |
40/1(-100%) | (9) Estimaid 40/1, Made too much use of and may not have stayed when down the field in a handicap here most recently; effective at 9f on the all-weather; inconsistent but can do better if ridden slightly more conservatively. Last of ten in turf handicap here when last seen out in August; others are preferred. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

HAVEAGOBEAU is the obvious one after successfully bouncing back to form in a handicap over C&D last week. This is an easier assignment and Jim Boyle's gelding is hard to oppose. Thundering Breeze is 0-15 so far, but she has gone well here before. Dropping into a classified stakes could be a good move where she is concerned, although Sunset In Paris is a three-time track-and-trip winner and could be a bigger danger if staging a revival.

A few hold chances here but KAARESS has started life well for Michael Attwater and is favoured at these weights too so gets the verdict

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (14/1 +13%)Desdemona |
14/1(+13%) | (6) Desdemona 14/1, No obvious excuse when beaten 7l in a handicap here last time. Effective at 5f and acts on AW; falling in the weights but needs more. Comes here out of sorts, beating only one over C&D 11 days ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (11/4 -38%)Son Of Astar |
11/4(-38%) | (1) Son Of Astar 11/4, Ran to form when beaten 3l off a 1lb higher mark at Wolverhampton last time. Top course jockey and trainer combination. Effective at 5f; in good form generally. Didn't enjoy the rub of the green when fifth at Wolverhampton; one to be interested in. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (10/3 -11%)Bluebells Boy |
10/3(-11%) | (3) Bluebells Boy 10/3, Ran to form when beaten 2l off this mark here last time. Effective at 5f and 6f; in decent form and the handicapper is relenting. On a losing run but he comes here in good order; this course scorer can go well again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (10/3 +49%)Captain Kinsella |
10/3(+49%) | (5) Captain Kinsella 10/3, Far too free and lit up by first-time visor when beaten 3l off a 4lb higher mark at Wolverhampton last time. Suited by 5f; has lost form and a wind operation has not helped. Not discredited given he went very keenly when sixth at Wolver 22 days ago; shortlisted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (8/1 -45%)Wedgewood |
8/1(-45%) | (4) Wedgewood 8/1, Ran to form when beaten 2l off a 1lb higher mark at Wolverhampton last time. Top course trainer; effective at 5f and running back into form, below last winning mark. C&D scorer; solid fourth at Wolver 30 days ago; can make her presence felt eased 1lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (13/2 -18%)The Defiant |
13/2(-18%) | (8) The Defiant 13/2, Returned to form back in a handicap when beaten 2 1/4l off this mark here last time. Suited by 5f; frontrunner on a fair mark if building on recent revival. Back on track with C&D second latest; this three-time C&D scorer must enter calculations. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (10/1 +29%)It's Showtime |
10/1(+29%) | (7) It's Showtime 10/1, No-show after a slow start when beaten 9l in a handicap at Southwell last time. Usually held up; suited by 5f and acts on AW; a bounce back is needed. Very slowly away when last of 12 at Southwell 17 days ago; hard to warm to. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Several of these are old rivals and the betting could be a good source of clues. Captain Kinsella runs off 10lb below his last winning mark and is dangerous to rule out, while It's Showtime and Bluebells Boy have reasonable chances. However, SON OF ASTAR is the pick of Tony Carroll's pair and the mount of Rossa Ryan won't need to find much to stamp his authority under top weight.

A few with chances but SON OF ASTAR(nap) caught the eye when fifth at Wolverhampton and gets a confident vote to resume winning ways.

1st (6) (9/2 +36%)Uncle Nader |
9/2(+36%) | (6) Uncle Nader 9/2, Ran to form making late headway in blinkers when beaten 3/4l off a 2lb lower mark at Chelmsford last time. Cheekpieces on for the first time; top course jockey booked and drawn wide. Effective at 7/8f and acts on the all-weather. Improved second at Chelmsford in November; very much one to consider with cheekpieces on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (8/11 +0%)Hardstyle |
8/11(+0%) | (1) Hardstyle 8/11, Nicely weighted and improved again when landing a handicap by 3l off a 6lb lower mark at Wolverhampton last time. Trainer in form; suited by 7-9f and acts on the all-weather. In good form and looks competitively handicapped to complete hat trick. Carries another penalty for winning easily at Wolverhampton on Monday; should cope. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (7/1 +13%)Chilliconcarneigh |
7/1(+13%) | (7) Chilliconcarneigh 7/1, Ran to form when made plenty of use of and beaten 3l off this mark here last time. Visor on for the first time; stays 1m well and acts on the all-weather. Versatile tactically and in good form. Good third over C&D a week ago; consistent and must enter calculations with a visor added. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (11/2 +66%)Black Tango |
11/2(+66%) | (5) Black Tango 11/2, Bit free but showed improvement when beaten 8l in a maiden here last time. Cheekpieces on for the first time and returns from a short break. With speed in his pedigree, he may do better over shorter than 7f so this trip is a concern. Seventh here in November final run for Alice Haynes; no forlorn hope on yard/h'cap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (14/1 -180%)Thanh Nam |
14/1(-180%) | (4) Thanh Nam 14/1, Scored by 1 1/4l off a 4lb lower mark at Wolverhampton on his penultimate start. A bit below form in a first-time visor when seventh beaten 4 1/2l off 59 last time; runs off the same mark here. Effective at 7-10f and acts on the all-weather; a little quirky but consistent. On a hat-trick but he beat one at Chelmsford in headgear change; can bounce back. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (12/1 +14%)Karisma's Angel |
12/1(+14%) | (2) Karisma's Angel 12/1, Made too much use of when beaten 8l in a novice at Southwell last time. Significant jockey booking; effective at 7f and acts on the all-weather. May have found her level. Has been brought along steadily; needs considering now stepping into handicap company. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (40/1 +0%)Parole Board |
40/1(+0%) | (8) Parole Board 40/1, Outpaced but ran to form when beaten 8l in a novice at Kempton last time. Returns from a short break and yet to show much; handicaps may suit better but needs more. Has offered little in her three runs; needs switch to h'caps to spark major improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) (66/1 -230%)Angelic Rascal |
66/1(-230%) | (3) Angelic Rascal 66/1, Down in trip and tried in a tongue-tie, ran as if breathing was an issue when comfortably held in a nursery at Newcastle last time. Trainer in form; effective at 8f and acts on the all-weather. Return to further may help though her mark looks stiff. Last of five in 7f Newcastle handicap 23 days ago; she needs to take a big step forward. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Hardstyle got off the mark with the minimum of fuss over C&D, but isn't being allowed to rest on his laurels and followed up at Wolverhampton on Monday night. He is a force to be reckoned with if turned out again, but UNCLE NADER is given the opportunity to avenge his Chelmsford defeat at the hands of Thanh Nam. Jack Jones' gelding is 6lb better off for just three-quarters of a length and cheekpieces could help prompt the necessary improvement. Keep Chilliconcarneigh in mind too.

George Boughey's HARDSTYLE has taken a big step forward the last twice and again won well at Wolverhampton on Monday.

INCLUSIVE went some way to putting a disappointing handicap debut behind her when making the frame at Southwell. That career-best effort suggested this trip is what she wants for now and she is taken to get off the mark. There should also be races in Henriette Ronner judged on her Newcastle third, and Far Too Fizzy and Mister Moet are in the mix too. Ollie Sangster forked out 150,000gns for Buckland Belle and after showing little in three qualifying runs, she starts handicap life off an attractive mark.

William Haggas' HENRIETTE RONNER shaped as though this trip would suit when third at Newcastle and can progress to get off the mark now

Metaverse has been threatening to get his head back in front, while Spirit Lead Me's winning run may have come to an end but he must not be written off. Noble Victory has been freshened up by a break but the vote goes to DIAMONDONTHEHILL, who only just failed to justify favouritism at Chelmsford and is able to compete here from the same rating.
