(8) (5/6 +39%)Minella Marathon |
5/6(+39%) | (8) Minella Marathon 5/6, Promising debut, showing a good attitude when a 2l winner in a maiden over 3m at Liscarroll on debut. Effective at 3m in points and acts on yielding ground. Has joined a top yard ahead of this rules debut. Joined this powerful yard for £200,000 after justifying favouritism in an Irish point. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (4/1 +60%)Korkoran |
4/1(+60%) | (2) Korkoran 4/1, Probably needed the run when a modest bumper debutant, comfortably held in a maiden bumper over 2m1f at Exeter. Has since had wind surgery. Effective at 3m in points and acts on yielding ground; better can be expected now hurdling. Bought for £240,000 after point win; had wind op since flopping in a bumper. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (5/1 +38%)Purple Owl |
5/1(+38%) | (5) Purple Owl 5/1, Promising hurdle debut, just tiring late after a break when second, beaten 12l, in a novice hurdle over 2m at Uttoxeter last time. A 3m point winner who is suited by quick ground; may want a little further than 2m under rules. The winner was much too good at Uttoxeter and this 5yo might be vulnerable again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (9/1 -38%)Les's Destiny Star |
9/1(-38%) | (3) Les's Destiny Star 9/1, Below form, probably needed the run when down the field in a bumper over 2m at Warwick most recently. Effective at 2m and acts on soft and good ground. The yard won this last year and he's the type to do better over hurdles. Failed to progress in bumpers after a winning start; well related and should do better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(6) (18/1 +36%)Can You Hear Me |
18/1(+36%) | (6) Can You Hear Me 18/1, Fell in a novice hurdle over 2m at Worcester last time. Effective at 2m and acts on good ground. Capable of better if all is well following that fall. Some bumper promise; 28-1 and fell midrace on hurdling debut at Worcester. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(7) (28/1 -100%)Laurier Des Obeaux |
28/1(-100%) | (7) Laurier Des Obeaux 28/1, Promising debut when fourth, beaten 9 1/2l, in a 4yo bumper over 2m at Huntingdon. Effective at 2m and acts on good ground. Brings plenty of potential now going hurdling. Shaped as though he had a future when beaten under 10l in a good-ground Huntingdon bumper. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

Point-to-point winner Minella Marathon changed hands for 200,000 pounds in April and is one to watch in the market for the Dan Skelton team. Purple Owl finished second on his hurdling debut at Uttoxeter and may have a say, but CALVINO gets the nod. Paul Nicholls' charge was just touched off into second at Newton Abbot last month, shaping as if this step up in trip would be a good move, so he looks the one to beat.

In what might not be that strong a race, the eyes are drawn towards Irish point winner MINELLA MARATHON who was recruited for £200,000.

(4) (10/3 -11%)I'm Your Buckaroo |
10/3(-11%) | (4) I'm Your Buckaroo 10/3, Improved on chase debut following a wind operation when 4l third in a 2m6f handicap chase at Fontwell last time; effective up to 3m1f and acts on good to soft or good ground. Likely improver back up in trip. 3m1f winner over hurdles; stuck to his guns on recent chase debut over 2m5f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (7/2 +46%)Express Surprise |
7/2(+46%) | (3) Express Surprise 7/2, Made mistakes but ran to form when 20l third in a handicap chase at Bangor-on-Dee on his most recent start; effective at 3m and acts on soft or good ground. Better than the bare result and may contend. Impressed on chase debut; jumping let him down afterwards; retains potential. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(6) (4/1 +0%)King Of Thieves |
4/1(+0%) | (6) King Of Thieves 4/1, Again ran only to a moderate level when comfortably held in a 2m2f maiden hurdle at Fontwell last time; effective at 3m in points and acts on heavy ground. Type to improve now switching to chasing. Check the betting now sent over fences for handicap debut with Harry Cobden booked. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(9) (4/1 +33%)The Big Reveal |
4/1(+33%) | (9) The Big Reveal 4/1, Well backed and ran to form when fourth, beaten 13l, in a handicap chase at Ffos Las last time; effective around 3m and acts on heavy or soft ground. Tongue-tie left off for this run. Maiden who is 0-6 over fences; there has been the odd bit of promise along the way. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(8) (17/2 +15%)Grand Sabre |
17/2(+15%) | (8) Grand Sabre 17/2, Below form and made mistakes when comfortably held in a 3m2f handicap chase at Fontwell last time; effective at 3m and acts on good ground. Should come on for that return effort. Poor in runs on either side of his surprise win at Warwick; other options look safer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(7) (10/1 +60%)Steal The Moves |
10/1(+60%) | (7) Steal The Moves 10/1, Below form when pulled up in a maiden hurdle at Chepstow last time; effective at 2m and acts on good to soft ground. May do better over fences but has plenty to prove on return. No impact in maiden hurdles and goes chasing/handicapping with much to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(10) (11/1 -10%)Damekap |
11/1(-10%) | (10) Damekap 11/1, Made a promising chase debut on return when 6l third in a handicap chase at Fakenham last time; effective up to 3m and acts on heavy or good ground. Further progress likely. 6l third of five on chase debut at Fakenham when 10lb out of the weights; 8lb wrong here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (16/1 -14%)Weseekherthere |
16/1(-14%) | (2) Weseekherthere 16/1, Found her mark stiff and was comfortably held in a 3m2f handicap hurdle at Fontwell last time; effective around 2m4f and acts on good ground. Absent for a long spell but has potential as a chaser. Potentially on a good mark and returns for chase debut with yard going well. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

King Of Thieves hasn't shown a great deal over the smaller obstacles, but is of interest on his handicap/chase debut with Harry Cobden keeping the ride. However, I'M YOUR BUCKAROO was beaten four lengths into third on his first outing over fences at Fontwell and is likely to improve on that display. The five-year-old competes off the same rating and looks the one to side with. Of the remainder, Express Surprise makes the most appeal.

Harry Cobden is 4-16 for Evan Williams and his presence heightens interest in handicap/chase newcomer KING OF THIEVES.

13/8(+7%) | (3) Ikarak 13/8, Well backed and ran to form when second, beaten 5 1/2l in a handicap hurdle over 3m1f at Warwick latest. Effective from 2m4f to 3m1f, acts on soft and good ground, and likely has more to offer this season. Only 3lb higher than for his last win over hurdles; solid enough run when last seen. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (3/1 +40%)Spike Jones |
3/1(+40%) | (5) Spike Jones 3/1, Won this race last year and ran to form when beaten 5l in a handicap hurdle over 3m at Windsor last time. Effective from 2m6f to 3m2f, acts on heavy and good ground, goes well fresh and likely to put up a bold show. Returned from longer absence to win a four-runner renewal of this 12 months ago; good mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (4/1 +27%)Git Maker |
4/1(+27%) | (2) Git Maker 4/1, Below form when finishing lame and down the field in the Kim Muir over 3m2f at Cheltenham most recently. Stays well, acts on soft and good to soft ground, cheekpieces off this time and could need it back hurdling. Better known as a staying chaser these days but respected off his lower hurdle mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(6) (8/1 -100%)Whizz Kid |
8/1(-100%) | (6) Whizz Kid 8/1, Ran to recent modest level when fourth, beaten 5l in a handicap chase over 2m4f at Newcastle latest. Effective from 2m to 2m4f and acts on good to soft and good ground. Happier back hurdling but stamina remains to be proven. Could be outstayed by some of these over this far, especially should the ground soften up. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (17/2 +6%)Saint Palais |
17/2(+6%) | (1) Saint Palais 17/2, Below form when comfortably held in a handicap hurdle over 2m4f at Ffos Las last time. Effective from 2m4f to 3m and acts on heavy and good to soft ground. Better over fences and may need this outing. Once a smart chaser; remains capable over hurdles, as he showed last season. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(4) (12/1 -50%)Kruger Park |
12/1(-50%) | (4) Kruger Park 12/1, Disappointed back up in trip when pulled up in a handicap hurdle over 3m2f at Newton Abbot last time. Effective from 2m4f to 3m and acts on heavy and good to soft ground. Had a wind operation but remains a fair bit above last winning mark. Last season ended disappointingly but he has undergone another wind operation. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

IKARAK occupied the runner-up berth at Warwick in April and returns off a 1lb lower rating. The son of Karaktar goes well fresh and it would be no surprise to see him put these to the sword. Spike Jones was successful in this contest last year off a 1lb higher mark and needs to be taken seriously for the Samuel Drinkwater stable. Whizz Kid is handicapped to win soon and also has a chance.

The 8yo SPIKE JONES (nap) won this last year after a longer absence and he held his own in a stronger Class 2 handicap when last seen.

11/4(+31%) | (8) Harry Junior 11/4, A bit too free but improved up in trip on handicap debut when second, beaten 6 1/2l, in a 2m4f handicap hurdle at Worcester latest. Effective 2m4f, acts on good ground; has a chance if settling better. Stable going well and his recent second on handicap debut (2m4f) was a step forward. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (10/3 +33%)Golden Ambition |
10/3(+33%) | (1) Golden Ambition 10/3, Ran to form when beaten 3 1/4l off a mark of 106 over 3m at Uttoxeter last time, making use of a fitness edge. Trainer in form; effective 2m4f-2m7f, acts on good to soft and good ground; won this last year. Last year's winner off 3lb lower; subsequent chase runs mostly respectable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(10) (9/2 +25%)Inspector Lynley |
9/2(+25%) | (10) Inspector Lynley 9/2, Ran to recent level when 7l third in a 2m6f handicap hurdle at Stratford on latest start. Effective 2m6f-3m, acts on good ground; can be competitive off this mark. He made heavy weather of finishing third at Stratford last time (2m6f, good). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (6/1 +25%)Jolie Baie |
6/1(+25%) | (2) Jolie Baie 6/1, Made mistakes when beaten 4l off 102 over 3m1f at Wincanton last time and has since had wind surgery. Effective 2m4f-3m, acts on soft and good ground; capable of better after the wind tweak. Strong stayer who was in good form last season and seemingly progressive. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(9) (15/2 -7%)Endersen |
15/2(-7%) | (9) Endersen 15/2, Confirmed recent improvement when beaten 3/4l off 77 over 2m6f at Fontwell last time. Effective 2m6f-3m2f, acts on good to soft and good ground; considered on that recent form. Bang there in 3m2f/2m5f handicaps at Fontwell on last two runs so entitled to be involved. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (11/1 -38%)My Cullen |
11/1(-38%) | (5) My Cullen 11/1, Ran to form, just flattening out late back from a break when comfortably held in a 2m4f handicap hurdle at Worcester last time. Effective at 2m4f, acts on good ground; respected over this longer trip. Mildly progressive by the looks but there are stamina queries over this far. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(6) (12/1 0%)Max's Champ |
12/1(0%) | (6) Max's Champ 12/1, Had every chance but ran below form off a revised mark when 23l third in a handicap hurdle at Hexham last time. Effective up to 3m, acts on good ground; needs to find a bit more off this mark. Won well at Uttoxeter in May (2m7f, good) but that was a bit out of the blue. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (14/1 -100%)Pipers Cross |
14/1(-100%) | (3) Pipers Cross 14/1, Ran to form when 4l third in a handicap hurdle over 3m at Southwell on most recent run. Effective 3m-3m2f, acts on soft and good ground; has a chance if reproducing latest effort. A consistent mare who goes well for Cameron Johnstone-Baker and is hard to dismiss. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(7) (16/1 +0%)Getuptheyard |
16/1(+0%) | (7) Getuptheyard 16/1, Held when falling in a 3m handicap chase at Huntingdon last time. Effective 2m3f-3m, acts on good ground; a frustrating type now reverting to hurdles. Three seconds over hurdles and he'll be happy to see the back of fences after two falls. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

HARRY JUNIOR put in a career best when filling second place on his handicap debut over 2m4f at Worcester last month and this step up in trip could help David Pipe's gelding to go one better. Endersen also hit the crossbar on his most recent outing and he could prove to be the main threat, ahead of Jolie Baie and Golden Ambition.

Last year's winner GOLDEN AMBITION is weighted to go well again and he hasn't been performing at all badly over fences.

(6) (9/4 +44%)Dangerous Touch |
9/4(+44%) | (6) Dangerous Touch 9/4, Ran to form when 5 1/4l third in a Sandown handicap hurdle last time, trip too short; effective at 2m4f, prefers further, acts on soft; should make a better chaser. In-form hurdler when last seen; should have plenty of scope for progress over fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (10/3 +26%)Followcato |
10/3(+26%) | (5) Followcato 10/3, Ran to form when 3 1/4l third in a maiden hurdle at Ffos Las most recently; trainer in good form; effective around 2m4f, acts on soft and good; could be involved on chase debut. Some fair hurdle form; runner-up in his only point and could be one to follow over fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(8) (9/2 +36%)Kalif D'airy |
9/2(+36%) | (8) Kalif D'airy 9/2, Travelled well but a bit below form when second, beaten 1/2l in a 2m2f maiden hurdle at Fontwell last time; effective from 2m2f to 2m4f, acts on heavy and good; improvement likely on chase debut. Pretty consistent over hurdles; on a realistic mark and should make a chaser. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(7) (6/1 -80%)Captain Boudet |
6/1(-80%) | (7) Captain Boudet 6/1, Suited by the ground and wore first-time blinkers when winning a 2m3f handicap at Exeter by 2l off 104 last time; effective around 2m4f, acts on soft and good; could have more to offer though cheekpieces replace blinkers. 2-3 over fences and the defeat came on heavy ground (the wins on soft and good). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(4) (15/2 +0%)Aviation |
15/2(+0%) | (4) Aviation 15/2, Returned to form down in grade when second, beaten 1/4l in a 2m5f novice hurdle at Warwick last time; had a wind operation and wears first-time cheekpieces; effective around 2m4f, acts on good; potential threat on chasing debut. More consistent than progressive over hurdles but this mark seems okay for chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (17/2 -31%)Silver Thorn |
17/2(-31%) | (2) Silver Thorn 17/2, Soon struggling when pulled up in the Betfair NH Novice Handicap Hurdle Final at Sandown last time; effective at 2m4f and 2m6f, acts on heavy and good to soft; had a wind operation before this chase debut. Won first time back last season and he's an interesting chase debutant. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (11/1 +8%)Batwomen |
11/1(+8%) | (3) Batwomen 11/1, A bit below form when 21l third in a 2m2f handicap hurdle at Fontwell, trip too short and probably needed the run; effective from 2m3f to 2m5f, acts on good to soft and good; placed in a point-to-point and brings potential to fences. Her comeback at Fontwell was rather underwhelming; now switched to fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (25/1 -108%)Gold In The Rivers |
25/1(-108%) | (1) Gold In The Rivers 25/1, Below form in first-time cheekpieces when fourth, beaten 17l in a 3m handicap hurdle at Newbury last time; effective from 2m3f to 3m, acts on heavy and good to soft; has a bit to find on this chase debut. Won maiden hurdle for Gordon Elliott; not at that level for current yard; chase debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Despite being a well-held third, the run that BATWOMEN had over hurdles at Fontwell last month could prove to be vital and she is on workable mark if taking to fences. Captain Boudet ended his last campaign with two wins from three starts and he has to be respected on his return, while Dangerous Touch and Followcato are others to note.

All except Captain Boudet are making their chase debuts. FOLLOWCATO looks ripe to be a better chaser than hurdler.

(6) (6/4 +40%)Princess Keri |
6/4(+40%) | (6) Princess Keri 6/4, Outpaced but improved on previous hurdle form when beaten a neck off 78 at Chepstow last time; best around 2m4f, acts on good; looks on a competitive mark. Narrowly failed back over hurdles at Chepstow and that form has been franked. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (9/4 +59%)Sea Thrift |
9/4(+59%) | (3) Sea Thrift 9/4, Improved when dropped in grade and trip to win a selling hurdle at Stratford over 2m3f by 2 1/2l last time; effective from 2m3f to 2m7f, acts on good to soft; an improving mare who faces a tougher task back in a handicap but brings potential over this trip. Up 10lb for winning a seller at Stratford and unwise to take that form at face value. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (13/2 -86%)Basilette |
13/2(-86%) | (1) Basilette 13/2, Improved when dropped in trip to land a handicap by 5 1/2l off 94 at Fakenham last time; effective from 2m to 2m3f, acts on good to soft and good to firm; sharp tracks suit and she's steadily progressing with this mark looking fine. Did it comfortably the final time so may well cope with the 6lb rise. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (7/1 -27%)Everest |
7/1(-27%) | (2) Everest 7/1, Ran to form when beaten 4l off 90 over 2m3f at Fontwell last time; effective from 2m to 2m3f, acts on good to soft and good; consistent enough but needs to find a bit more. Doesn't look that well handicapped but beaten about 4l in two of her last three races. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (9/1 +44%)Inion Tiogair |
9/1(+44%) | (5) Inion Tiogair 9/1, Below form when fourth, beaten 9 1/4l in a handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter last time; effective at 2m, acts on heavy; faces a tough task. Signs of finding her level when a front-running fourth at Uttoxeter in March. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(7) (22/1 -238%)Masonbrook Meadow |
22/1(-238%) | (7) Masonbrook Meadow 22/1, Returned to form when suited by quicker ground to land a handicap by 3/4l off 76 over 2m1f at Exeter last time; effective at 2m, acts on good; respected on that latest effort. Exeter winner; wouldn't be an obvious one to follow up on what's likely to be slower going. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(4) (28/1 -211%)Conniemak |
28/1(-211%) | (4) Conniemak 28/1, Needed the run on handicap debut when well beaten at Chepstow last time; effective at 2m, acts on heavy; much more required. Weak 28-1 chance on last month's handicap debut and was well behind Princess Keri. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(8) (50/1 -178%)Macmolly |
50/1(-178%) | (8) Macmolly 50/1, Needed the run after a wind operation when pulled up in a handicap hurdle over 2m3f at Fontwell last time; effective around 2m, acts on soft; needs major improvement. Pulled up in her two previous handicaps over further and was big odds on both occasions. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

BASILETTE won easily at Fakenham last month, her second win in October, and a 6lb rise may not be enough to stop the six-year-old from making it a hat-trick. Sea Thrift also won last time, but that was only a selling hurdle and she could be vulnerable off her new mark, so the recent Exeter winner Masonbrook Meadow may earn the silver medal on this occasion.

If she copes with the likely slower surface then PRINCESS KERI will have every chance of going one better than at Chepstow.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
